That does makes sense, but Yoshida with that hair color and that sweater looks like a Lady, an apron away from the "Obasan Time" omake of one piece.
Bakuman

Cute! Shame the English edition probably won't have that. (Hrm. I assume Bakuman has/will have an artbook collecting its color illustrations at some point?)
Tho is it really appropriate for Aoki to be catching the bouquet when she's already engaged?
-
Aww that looks cute xD

He probably understand the tradition as "the next one to get married"

That is the tradition, but I was under the impression usually only the singles participate? Well its a symbol of good luck either way I suppose.
…probably means Hirimaru got the garter.

This is a bit late I know, but thanks for the answers, and I'm sorry my comment on TLC brought up the arguments again (I understand why the rant was ignored… the last comment about the hero raping Miho was rather revealing).
I'll have a look at the other threads around here, I won't be around much if at all, but I'm sure there's lots of interesting posts to read! : )

Any word on when season 3 of the anime comes out? and whether it will be the last season?
also anything from media blasters about releasing more of the dub? -

There isn't a snowball's chance in hell that Media Blasters will release any more Bakuman. Which is a shame especially when you consider there were probably a decent amount of people waiting on that Blu-Ray they delayed twice and then canceled. The dub for this series I found to be very good and they already have all of Seasons 1 & 2 in the can, yet we can't see any more than the first 7 episodes on DVD.

In new Bakuman Fanbook there are "Jump ToCs" from the future, with another mangaka messages.

Given that its the fantasy year 2018 there, and nothing else currently running aside from Kochikame can be safely assumed to be there by then…

Ive put off reading this long enough…time to read Chapter 4!

HxH never came back from Hiatus

… Gotta find the Bakuman timeline...

I'm afraid that it's in one of the naruto threads, maybe with the keyword kochikame..

Just read this manga till the end, love it to bits. The ending felt a bit underwhelming, i guess it was since we knew it had to end like that but i accepted it. Honourable mention to Hiramaru and Yoshida. Their running gag was brilliant, at first it was weird and annoying but it very quickly had me in tears reading all of the different ways Hiramaru was being convinced. Overall I was happy where all of the characters ended up. The only big that was annoying was Nanamine. The first time it was good but the second time round just didnt feel right
-
if the manga ending did not satisfied you, maybe you should try anime ending.

yeah i feel like the anime was better in a lot of aspects, condensing the series down and making it easier to watch, while playing up important moments, and down others. and of course, beautifully animated

I think I asked this once before but can anyone who has watched the anime tell me if they ever do more fake openings for anime in the baku-verse. The Super Hero Legends one in the first episode was amazing.

The did for Reversi in the last episode but I think that was all. They had animated-ish manga chapters (they went through the panels with voice overs) too for Crow, the manga that guy who used 50 people for ideas did, PCP and Reversi (probably others too).

Yeah Reversi had an opening and part of the show in the last episode. Crow had an opening, and so did Trap in season 2. those 3 and Superhero Legend are the only one i remember, i dont think they did Road Racer Giri or Otters 11

So how did the anime ending differ from the manga one?

@RobbyBevard:
So how did the anime ending differ from the manga one?
its not that it ended differently, just with more impact, likely because of all the music, color, timing, and animation of course. The double page spread in the last chapter just didnt do it justice like the anime's last episode did is all
-
@RobbyBevard:
So how did the anime ending differ from the manga one?
! It's all the same, but with additional scenes. We see Hiramaru and Aoki's wedding (with Azuki catching the boquet, natch). Then there's a scene with Ashirogi meeting with Hattori, with Mashiro explaining that he and Azuki have married and moved into her old house and that they plan to have a wedding ceremony if their new series (which they're giving to Hattori) gets serialized.
! Gotta keep prolonging it as much as possible after all. -
I read the manga of Bakuman and loved every bit of it, just purchased the first season box set here in the UK and am working through it. Weirdly season 2 was scheduled to be released 2 weeks ago in the UK but I think it was delayed or cancelled, anybody got any information regarding this?
-
So, the 20th and final volume of Bakuman finally came out stateside. It flows together pretty well in straight volume form. Though now that enough time has passed, Iwhile I was a strong proponent of the ending being what it needed and having wrapped up all the other character plots before the final chapter (and it did) I do find myself wanting more of it still. Ah well.
For anyone that hasn't been buying the English volumes and has been considering it, there's going to be a boxed set release in October. All 20 volumes, and a really nice case (that Amazon doesn't actually show.) Suggested price, 160$, Amazon current pre-order price 143.99. Yeah, that's a lot for anyone to shill out in one go, but if you plan on getting the whole thing at some point anyway, and don't already have any volumes, that's basically buy 14, get 6 free… so almost 1/3 off... plus a cool box. Also it will apparently have the bonus Otters 11 mini-comic (which of course was already scanlated and posted a year ago, but still) and a poster. Worth thinking about, at any rate.
There's also some OP box sets and stuff, but… same deal, already have all of them, so thats hard to get worked up about.
-
Here's a picture of the box set.
!
I myself have already been collecting the English volumes, so I have no real need for it. I still need to get the final volume though. The thing with me though is, whereas I always read English volumes after buying them, even if I've read them before, this is the first series where I eventually stopped reading them (around volume 12, where the series hit its low point anyway). I think that's mostly due to the fact that, as good as Bakuman is, it can be a bit of a chore to read since it's so text-heavy. Plus, it hasn't been that long since I read the original scanlations. But it's still nice to have the series in my collection.
-
Yeah, some series you own you just pull out to read in a marathon once every couple of years, they're too dense to re-read regularly. How it goes. Especially in a series like Bakuman which is really, pretty straightforward and all about the creative process. Its a little weaker on reread because you already know the storytelling trick they'll try next even before they do. Not a flaw, most stories have a bit of that on a second viewing, but in a series that's so solution based it stands out pretty strongly. (I can't even imagine going through a detective series multiple times.)

Sounds awesome, both the content and the price. I would probably order it on the spot.
…If not for the fact I ordered the Fullmetal Alchemist boxset at Amazon one and a half month ago when it still was available and haven't received anything yet.
-
Sometimes with Amazon, with an item thats low stock (or its technically out of stock) or only in some stores, an order will get placed to one store and just sit there for months… But if you cancel it and reorder from a different store, it might work almost immediately.
Happened to me with the Lilo and Stitch art book.
Either way you may want to check the status on that, and if the spot you specifically ordered it from (if it was amazon itself) has it listed as "still in stock."

BAKUMAN LIVE ACTION MOVIE ANNOUNCED FOR 2015! http://natalie.mu/comic/news/116017
Obata's response:
“I’m very happy about the movie adaptation. I was able to pen the manga which is to appear in it, so as someone a involved a little in the production as well as the creator of the original I’m looking forward to seeing what it is like.”
-
As long as the Drawing close up are done by Obata(is he the artist?) then great!
Movie or movie series?
-
Eh movie? Well actors look pretty good. Bit wary though, the Death Note movie was crap so I dunno how this would turn out.
-
All this japanese live action adaptations are kinda cheesy and not really good. And they sometimes try to hard to look exactly as the manga/anime, wich makes it even more hilarious.
-
Takagi's hair needs to be fixed, elsewise the movie sucks.
-
Heh, so Obata gets another series in live-action.
Probably won't see it, but hey! At least I've collected all the volumes.
-
So… does anyone know why the dub never ended up getting released? I still have that first dvd set sitting on my shelf...
-

Low sales I'd assume.
-

I liked the movie ending more than the manga ending.
forget N and Mello or whatever, and forget the ultimate downfall not being any true fault of Kira's but just his stooge being incompetent and the people somehow making a perfect replica of the book, that was lame.
I much prefer L gambling by writing his own name in the death note the maximum amount of days in the future, then playing dead when Kira thinks he kills him, but in reality he knows he is 100% safe from Kira because his death has already been set and cannot be changed. So he uses his new immunity and thought-of-as-dead status to set up the final trap for Kira, and then we get the swimming lessons and everything.
-
More casts for upcoming Bakuman's live-adaptation movie is announced:
Fukuda Shinta = Kiritani Kenta
Nakai Takurou = Minikawa Sarutoki
Hiramaru Kazuya = Arai Hirofumi -

That sounds quite a bit better.

That sounds quite a bit better.
In theory it definitely is. It even manages to include most of the amazing confrontation from the Volume 12, only with L in place of Near. However, the movie in my opinion has a style that tries to mimic the anime too much rather than take advantage of the live-action format, which comes off as a bit cheesy. I wish Ohba and Obata would team up to make an alternate ending to the manga using the live-action script. That would be perfection.
-
New Trailer for upcoming Bakuman live-adaptation movie:
-
Looks not bad.
Aside from those bits with the giant comedic oversized pens to simulate combat, I guess.
-
Huh…I like it.
-
Looks really good aside from that giant pen scene, really looking forward to this movie.
-
So does anyone know the story of whatever happened to the English dub releases? Its like they did the first seven episodes and then just stopped with no explanation?

It didn't do well.
Pretty much all the explanation needed.
