@RobbyBevard:
Is there any point… any point at all... to a near panel by panel recreation in short chibi form?
Well this one at least had some jabs at DBZ in it.

These comics need to be terminated, as they are clearly a money-grab. The argument that these were made for a younger audience is hilarious the real DB was already targeted at a young audience.
This sorta reminds of those chibi Avatar shorts except…..here this isn't funny. Just butchering.
What Jabs does it have.
I used the wrong word, I meant pokes, as in Goku's pervert moment with Supreme Kai, and the Vegeta thing (shouldn't they be children? How old is Vegeta?).

Vegeta was a several years old when Frieza destroyed his planet, while Goku was a days old infant. So he's got a few years on him.
EDIT: Vegeta was born in 732, and Goku in 737, apparently. So apparently he was only 5 when Frieza blew up the planet. Still puts him at a late teenager by the time Dragonball starts, a year older than Bulma.
Sorry if this has been answered but what is the best box set for Dragonball Z? I want the origignal 4:3 fullscreen aspect ratio, dual audio, and completely uncut. Does such a collection exist or is it only the cropped widescreen now?
I would say the Dragon Boxes are your best bet, but I believe some sets are out of print if I'm not mistaken :(
Yeah they are out of print. Any other ideas?
@Skull:

If you want them in 4:3 then the only other way to go is the Level Blu-rays. Otherwise, the orange brick DVD season sets are cropped into 16:9.
Ok. Is the original Dragonball going to be rereleased or should I buy the box sets here?

So far there has been no word of another rerelease of the first Dragon Ball series, so those sets are the only option at the moment. Thankfully, unlike the Z season-sets, these aren't a complete atrocity. Sure, it's missing the different variations of the opening and ending animations, the next episode previews at the end are missing and the episode-title-cards only show the English title, which can be a bit jarring when you also have the narrator reading out the completely different Japanese title at the same time… But other than that, they should be just fine.

So far no, no Dragon Box release has been announced yet (fingers crossed), but these do cover the complete series and have dual audio included with subtitles. I have all of these and are actually content with them. If you can get over the title cards being English when viewing in Japanese these are the best release of Dragon Ball in the United States.
I'd rather just have it on Blu-Ray, then get a Dragon Box for the original series.
I'd rather just read the manga without any filler.
Your best option for merely experiencing the series is getting the manga instead. If your inner collector is calling you, then get yourself the Dragon Boxes, although a few of them are getting really hard to find and afford. If that's beyond your ability or too impractical to be worth it, then go for the new "levels" Blu-Ray sets.
Avoid the "orange brick" quasi-remastered sets for DBZ like the plague. The blue and green equivalent sets for DB and GT are both very nice, though.
the dragon box's 3-7 are in stock on amazon. Get either the Level or you could get the orange box's or Kai like I did.
I have noticed that some of you here know japanese, so could you tell me which translation is correct?
私は光よりも速いです
!
i'd dare to say he doesn't say the faster than light thing at all., so the second one.
Oh god you're using that for some fucking battledome shit aren't you.
Post 1998, I wouldn't trust any translator who felt the need to flip the pages first.
Vote for more Dragon Box pleases!!!! http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22EPHHCB8R6
I voted for the Dragon Box the Movies! We may just get another Dragon Box treatment for Dragon Ball!
So the first four Kai sets are discontinuing, and are being replaced by the full "season" sets with the second one coming out this summer. When season 1 got released, they kept in the Kai soundtrack despite their later kai sets switching back to the old soundtrack.
That being said, do we thinks they're gonna change the BGM back to the old stuff for season 2 instead of keeping the soundtrack from the Kai 3-4 sets?

Well they should, it was the main reason they pulled them from the market anyways. Hopefully they do a re-release of Season 1 before Season 2 comes out this summer. But I myself have the Parts, and I like Kenji Yamamoto's score so it doesn't bother me.
@Skull:
Yeah they are out of print. Any other ideas?
Our of Print doesn't mean un-findable. eBay that stuff.
If you want 4:3, you can either track down the over saturated 4:3 singles from way back that will take you forever, or get the DBoxes and just have a little trouble tracking down the first few volumes (everything after 3 is readily available still.)
The Blu-ray levels looked awesome, but then were canceled. So if you only want the Saiyan and beginning of Namek arcs, go with those lol.
As for other DBoxes (other than the Z series) we have no confirmation of them, but FUNi is now actively polling customers for interest. So we have no confirmation, but prospects look good. I'd wait to buy any other series' until we get word on that.
Thing with the Dragon Boxes on eBay is that people are selling them for over 300 bucks a pop. I checked all the out of print boxes' prices a few weeks ago just to see how ridiculous the prices were, sine people had been saying the were too high.
SD is out.
http://www.mangareader.net/dragon-ball-sd/7
And this page was awesome
http://www.mangareader.net/dragon-ball-sd/7/10
Dragonball SD is still as pointless as a downgarded retelling of original Dragonball can get.
But that was a really good use of Saibaman and Yamcha.
This is so boring I couldn't get past page 10.
What's the point of this crap, are kids nowadays too lazy to grab the old Dragonball tankoubons that they need it to be summarized?
I don't see the point of it either, but i'd be lying if pages 9-10 didn't get a nice laugh out of me.
I agree… The Yamcha joke was funny, though. Everything else is a waste.
Yeah the Yamcha-Saibaman joke was great, I laughed while reading it. The rest … meh
So is this going to be a re-telling of the whole Fry Pan Mountain arc? Also Yamucha and the Saibaiman.
There was also that Zarbon transformation in the last chapter. These easter eggs are pretty much the only interesting thing about SD..
I'd say it's a good move for SD. At this point a re-telling of old arcs would be boring at this point. And they already sorta are.
So pleased about the news of a UK DVD release!
Hey guys, the Dragonball Online timeline has been translated! It's pretty interesting.
Especially what happens to Krillin and Tenshinhan, Mr. Satan, and Lunch.
! Krillin finally saves earth at age 84! Freeza's henchmen come after Mr. Satan dies after years of preparing to defeat him.

Excuse the link to a 4chan archive, Daizenshuu EX forums is down. This is where this was originally ripped from:
lol booby-booby. Something about buu being able to split himself like that seems really farfetched to me
He's magic. He ain't gotta explain nothin'.
I found it weird that Goku and Vegeta felt they were going to die at such a young age. I always thought they would outlive a normal human life span, but it turned out to be just the opposite.
I started playing DBO for a little bit, and it's as fun as any other MMORPG. The Dragonball fan in me helps a lot, since even though I don't understand Korean, I do understand "Grind until you drop baby".
These games are still a sinch though if you just understand a little math and statistics.
Flying is being added to the Korean version this week, and I guess the Taiwan version a little later. The English release is slated around 2013. There is an English patch for the GUI, which is what I'm using.
Quests are kind of simple too, especially since you can use your scouter to determine if what you're looking at is a quest item. Also, there's arrows on the map that lead you to them.
The world is still very cool, you can see a lot of Dragonball characters descendants in certain areas.
If anyone is as impatient as I am, and want to give it a go, goto DBOCOM.com.
DO NOT GOTO dbommo.com, their stuff is very outdated and doesn't work, and since that installer file is 2.4+GB's… I just saved you a lot of time.
DaizenshuuEX and Kanzentai have merged into kanzenshuu.com. Yup, it's for realz.
Awhile ago I picked up the Blu-Ray collection of Season 1 of Dragon Ball Z Kai (first 26 episodes) and I've been waiting for the second collection to come out. Looks like it finally is soon, but the first collection is also being re-released at the same time.
Looking into it, it seems like the new version of the first collection will contain the 'original Dragonball Z score', instead of the music made for Kai, as will the second collection and, I assume, any others put out.
Of course now I'm left with a set with Kai music, if I had known this was happening I wouldn't have bought it to begin with, oh well!

Again nothing special, pretty boring actually.
hey anybody else see the resemblance of bulmas outfit from dragon ball and the vest the the fusions all ways wear?
@RPG:

You mean in the sense that they're both vests?
Otherwise, no.
Anybody else ever noticed that the characters in Chrono Trigger kind of looked like Dragon Ball?

Young TaterMoog, Playing Dragon Quest VIII: "Jeez, all these characters look like the ones in Chrono Trigger. All that Japanese stuff looks exactly the same."
A True Story.

At first I thought she was going to go for something cool like: "Pilaf read the dragonball manga and now he's prepare." But she just used the exact same sequence as the original series…
what was the point of that?
Hey a new DragonBall movie is coming out next year!
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-07-10/toei-toriyama-work-on-march-2013-dragon-ball-z-film
More milking for the franchise god. Movies for his throne!
Sometimes you should let a series rest, and even with Toriyama's involvement I shall remain skeptic til I see the end product.
