The best SNES game that I played with the best story was Terranigma and Tales of Phantasia…They have a deep interesting story that made me play it...Until I came to the point where they had to fight the final boss...They had to go bye bye...Aww man...
Best SNES game
-
-
Earthbound.
-
Earthbound was freaky…Alieny.
I didnt get to the final part. I barely even started.
I just stopped because that curse that change your directions bugged me. -
secret of mana is definitively the best game ever!
-
Yeah, secret of mana is the best…Though I prefer the idea of Seikendensetsu3 better...It had cool gameplay. With the multiple characters and all....

i didn't like this one, my brother really enjoyed it, but i didn't like the characters…
i'd say that the top 3 sns rpg is:
- secret of mana
- ff6 (ff3 us)
- chrono trigger
-
igal has the right idea. The rest of you must be smoking crazy grass because Chrono Trigger and FF6 are obviously the greatest RPGs made ever.
-
Chrono Trigger.
I've played it who knows how many times… and it still has yet to get old.
Next would come (in no real order): Earthbound, SMRPG, and FFVI. Those were the ones I enjoyed the most.
-
For me it has always been:
Final Fantasy VI and Earthbound.
Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG are cool too though.
-
Chrono Trigger. Final Fantasy 6 was great, but CT was more fun for me. Earthbound gets points for being the most unique game I've ever played.
Secret of Mana series was also awesome, but it doesn't beat CT or FF6.

 that is the most annoying curse from any game!
-
Super Mario RPG.
Followed by: Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 6, Romancing SaGa 2, Sailor Moon: Another Story, and Tales of Phantasia (though I still haven't beaten it).
-
super mario rpg, chrono trigger, ff3, secret of mana, tales of phantasia and last but not least harvest moon ^^ oh terranigma too
-
Earthbound. You'll never convince me that Square was top, even back then. FF6, Chrono Trigger and SoM are indeed all very good. But they weren't a pure masterpiece like Earthbound. To those who haven't played to the end, DO SO. It has the most satisfying ending in any video game I've ever played, as well as the coolest final boss fight.
-
dragon quest 6 was great.
ooshi78
-
Most of the FF games (6 most faved), Chrono Tigger, Super Mario rpg, and Earth Bound (I haven't played it much though).
Ah! Forgot to add Legend of Zelda: A link to the past. I consider it a little bit on the rpg side. It's a really addicting game
-
Chronno Trigger. then FF6.
Seikendensetsu3 is good, but it's get annyoing if you pick "the wrong" chars and the real time combat just ain't that cool
-
Eartbound is my favorite game of all time. However, Final Fantasy VI deserves a gold medal for being the best RPG I have ever played in my entire life. It's stellar. It is the best RPG ever.

I see many of you are still wolfing down crack-burgers as you cannot see the pure brilliance that is FF6's creation/progression as well as the genius that was the creation of a malleable world that could be played countless times in CT.
Earthbound was um…..it was definately Earthbound yup.

Hey, a Kunio game…I've played that one, it's pretty cool (but isn't it more of a final fight type game with role playing elements, like the River City Ransom games)?
As for whether FF6 or Earthbound is better...I can't choose. I like them both equally as my number one favorite rpgs.
Chrono Trigger comes close, but I rank it with Super Mario RPG as my second favorites.
-
well this is an easy question of course its Chrono trigger which isnt just the greatest Snes RPG its also the greatest RPG ever…....
FF4 is also top-ranked in my book.
-
FF6 and Chrono Trigger are definitely really really stellar games, but, like HE said, Earthbound is one of the few games that gave me an incredibly satisfying ending. It's also really unique.
-
I liked the Eartbound ending a lot (especially being able to walk around all the places you saved after), but I didn't like the final boss battle with Gigyas. Made me feel jipped considering all you had to do…...
Not to mention fucking Pokey was there, I hated him!
-
The Kunio games kick ass, but they really aren't RPG's.
River City Ransom has RPG elements, but it was on the NES.
FF6 and CT are wonderful, but that's been said.
Earthbound is pretty cool too. -
That's easy, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest and Secret of Mana are by far the best SNES RPG's I have ever played and they are two of the best games i have ever played.

**What, you didn't like the fact that [SPOILER, highlight to reveal]You, the player, is the one that ends up killing Gigyas? I think that's the niftiest thing ever put into a game.
-
They were already mentioned, but I loved Earthbound and Super Mario RPG.
-
Crono trigger hands down. The game concept was way ahead of its time and in my opinion crono trigger was way pigger than crono cross.
-
Chrono Cross…...what a dangerous thing. I almost died of sadness after playing.
Best SNES RPG? I dunno, Final Fantasy III or CT. Favorites: EVO and Robotrek.
…..What?

Hey, I loved Robotrek too. I never finished it unfortunately….
-
Chrono trigger was pretty sweet.
-
Earthbound, Hands down.

Spoiler: All you had to do was pray with Paula, that was kind of annoying personally… even if it was just his final form
I guess it was cool that everyone's "hope" eventually ended it though, and, walking around with everyone thanking you afterwards was a nice ego boost, I've never seen a game do that since. (FFMQ spoiler –->) It just reminded me a little of the FFMQ end boss, where you just threw a life potion on him and he was dead.
The whole dream world was great though, probably one of the toughest "worlds" I've ever played in a game.

I wouldn't strictly call it RPG, but.. a fleshed out game in the style of Final Fight or something. True, though, lovely game.. and a game I, myself, acquainted you with!
And fancy, remember that day when that _fking_** scum said that it was shite! - What a wanker…
Anyhow, I think Final Fantasy 6 was classic. But I also like quite a few of these titles, as I used to be really into RPG games, a few years back. I wish I still had the time, too!
-
Oh yeah!! I forgot about FF6,Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG…Those were great too....
ff6 had the greatest story...

Chrono Trigger and FFVI. FFVI was my first RPG, so it has a very special place in my heart. I still get all tingly when I hear that opening theme… And CT...well, that game is just the best. One of my best friends and I get into arguments, 'cause his fav chara is Frog and mine is Magus. lol
-
well you know your right
Magus 4 life
-
My vote definetly goes to FFVI. Its just so f***ing awesome. Locke kicks ass. And so does Kefka.
FFIV and Chrono Trigger also gets honorable mentions.
-
Chrono trigger is the shit.
-
My first time playing on a console was the Sega Genesis, from then onwards, it was SNES all the way
My fave games are :
1. Tales of Phantasia
2. Final Fantasy 6 (Sabin rocks)
3. Chrono TriggerIn my opinion, the games were far the best, in terms of story, graphics and gameplay.
I really feel that i have to mention these two from the Sega Genesis as well
1. Phantasy Star
2. Shining ForceWithout these two, i would never have made it to the SNES, Phantasy Star is one of the best RPG's ever made.
-
My favorite Snes RPG is Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. I really hope that Nintendo will port or remake that game for Game Boy Advance or Nintendo DS soon.
-
1. Final Fantasy 6
2. Chrono Trigger
3. Super Mario RPG -
I think Sabin looks fat…
I like Edgar better
-
Hmm…
Super Mario RPG is good but i found it a little lacking storywise.
Chrono Trigger was awesome i can't really complain about it although for some reason after completing it i've had no desire to play it again.
FF6 was brilliant but the PS1 version appeals a bit more.
They all have their good points so i wouldn't go with a fav.
-
Seiken Densetsu 3 owns all. I also liked Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger too.
-
why not try to revive this topic…. i loved Secret of Mana!!! so awesome with all the weapon upgrades and special upgrades had me playing for hours on end  also leveling up magic AWESOME!!
this is one of the rare and awesome multiplayer rpgs, they should make some more... closest to it nowadays is Shining Tears but secrest of mana was better in my opinion, the story was awesome!!
ive got Chrono cross and Chrono trigger waiting there for me to play... guess i'll get around to them one day...
they should revive some old school Rpgs onto the new consoles!! we need to see more "classics" on our recent systems...
