I'm posting in this thread (four years later) to say this is still my favorite manga.

Same here, I totally missed out on Sonic's Pocket Adventure and Faselei

I still have my old games (including those two - Faselei is one of my personal favorites along with MotM and Card Fighters) and play them every once in awhile. I think many of the games deserve to be ported somewhere so more people might play them.

Also, it's years later but I still can't help thinking about how disappointing the DS version of Card Fighters was for me - nowhere near as fun or addictive as the NGPC game.

I love "everyday life" games. If that's the biggest aspect then it'd totally be up my alley.

the SNES game I played the most as a kid was the original Harvest Moon (well, and also Earthbound)

i've always felt that whether you like Shenmue or not could depend on how much you can get into games with "every day life" aspects (like Harvest Moon)

because for me that's a big part of the appeal, although i know many find those aspects to be boring

(but my personal tastes have always placed more importance on the "world" that games create instead of other things)

They're all great, but the first is probably the worst. The second improves things and I consider the best of the series. 3 & 4 tunes things up nicely and the jump to PS3 helped greatly.

Oh, I actually did like the first one (I didn't mean that it's a bad game or anything) - I was just disappointed that it wasn't as much like Shenmue as I had been led to believe by reading import previews and such. I probably would have liked it a lot more if I didn't have that kind of expectation.

I played Yakuza thinking it would be like Shenmue and was disappointed. So the reverse might be true for others?

I really liked Yakuza's battle system a lot more - (I don't really like Shenmue's battles that much) - but I'd still rather play Shenmue (over and over again - it's basically almost everything that I value in gaming - but I understand that different people value different things).

Of course, I've only played the first Yakuza.

(i've already seen all of the japanese episodes too - but i'd love to have subtitles and better picture quality)

I would have wanted a new handheld with NGPC games preloaded on it (there are so many that I still love to play).

Or maybe some games that had not already been ported so many times.

but sometimes mistakes are made and interesting people get the status
