Decent chapter, Clifford running being the difference between Hiruma was called. I hope that Gaou actually gets through Mr. Don as I really don't enjoy him.

Seriously i realize Mr.Don is the ultimate lineman and all but did he just push off two guys whos combined benchpress is 345+ kg with one arm each. Isnt the NFL record something like 300 kg?
Cheering Agon on is a pleasant new feeling tho, Even if he detracted from our beloved Shins glorious curb stomp. Wonder if Gaohs gonna unleash the dynamite next chapter then. And hopefuly Kurita gets back, its just not the same without that big lug.
-
Chapter wasn't bad but the match already starting to feel like it's dragging. I did like Agon attempting to stop Clifford though.
-
@Tokoro:
Chapter wasn't bad but the match already starting to feel like it's dragging.
Really? I feel like it's just starting to pick up. Loved this chapter honestly.
And yeah this manga's fawning over black men muscles is making even ME a little uncomfortable as a fast black man myself.
-
Hey, it could be worse. He could have designed Panther to look like Chocolove in Shaman King.
-
Even though I hate Agon I hope he does kill Clifford but in the end though I was hoping 4 a more tactical play than just power by Clifford. I do agree that Mr. Don power is completely insane.
-
Dragging is exactly the opposite of what i think is going on atm, i havent been this stoked about Eyeshield in a looooooong time.
Weve got the inevitable mindfucking trick play Hiruma has up his sleeve to look forward to, by all accounts it should be the sneakiest, most fiendish play ever conceived. Not to mention Shin stomping Panther and Agon killing Clifford. Kid breaking Tatanka etc, almost everything is peaking my intrest and heck even Mr.Don isnt that annoying when he isnt in focus and they finaly shut up about black people's magic muscles for the time being. I dont see what part of the story is dragging.
If you wanna see some serious sucking i refere you to the Poseidon game.
-
What? I love the Poseidon game! Chibis vs. Giants! It was awesome!
-
It had its moments but overall it was one of the weaker games. The almighty tallest was not a good concept to build an entire game around. Every single thing they did had to to with their height there was no variation at all.
Still entertaining, but id rank it at maybe 7 or 8th place out of all games. Climbs up to 7th mostly cause Komosubi was awesome. And on that note heres my top 8 ranking of eyeshield awesomness.
1.Knights vs bats 2nd
2.Naga vs bats
3.Gunmen vs dinos
4.Bando vs deimon
5.Dinosaurs vs bats
6.Sphinx vs bats
7.Poseidon vs bats
8.Alexanders vs bats -
I think my problem with "dragging" at this point is that it took this long to set up what each member of the Pentagram does, with probably one chapter for each member. (Don, the actor, Tatanka, Panther and now Clifford) Usually that part just seems to show off the latest opponent and how the team "can't beat them" just to set up their fall at the end. It probably is going to start picking up but I just wanted to state how I felt.
-
Off-topic for the discussion, but I've never seen the anime episodes for this series. I was wondering if anyone knew which episodes Kid was featured? I'm mainly looking for cosplay reference picks of Kid not in his football uniform (i.e. Kid and Hiruma playing darts and talking about how to handle Gao; but was this even animated?).
-
Dunno if they made it to that part i quit watching the anime after poseidonish, but i think you could find some pretty good cowboy screens in either episode 28 or 29. That part where they meet Kid in the gun store.
-
No chapter this week? And Mr. Don seriously pisses me off. Hes killing the series for me :/. And Black muscles.
Also to the guy who said Alexandars game was only 8, the last play made it like 4th or 3rd for me. -
Call me weird, but I didn't like the knight round 2. I enjoyed the most plays, but the game was way to big a score fest for a game vs the strongest defense.
Chap up at onemanga.
I like the fact that Hiruma was waiting for kurita to start his trick plays. It really shows how much he trusts him.
-
Hah. Even Shin's getting in on the "it's because of black men's _____" Bit sillly really, but I guess they're building up to the usual shonen theme of effort beats talent. ¬.¬
-
Dayum, now they're laying it on thick even for me. I love Panther as a character, but being black ≠ automatically invincible.
-
If somebody mentions black muscles in the next chapter, I'm gonna scream.
-
Dude…I liked the Ojou vs Devil 2nd encounter but I wouldn't put it number 1. I personally think that the Dinosaurs was one of the best games next to the Shinryuu Nagas.
-
How can Shin possibly compete with the incredible power of a black mans arm
-
All we need now is for somebody in-game to mention how black people are stronger because the slave master of old bred them that way and the awkwardly racist comment cycle will be complete.
I don't think it'll go that far, but that's certainly the path it's headed down.
To be fair it's been shown that Panther has been training his body all his life (running and jumping around Houston, doing 3x the normal amount of training), so the fact that he's so strong isn't in itself ridiculous, it'd just be nice for it to be credited to that instead of just his race.
-
Agree the black men's _____= owned needs to stop but im happy to see Hiruma up n scheming again especially wit Kurita n Agon n the mix
-
The next step is obviously something like how the black mans natural large penis works as a pendlum allowing him sharper cuts than a asian man ever could. Weve had speed, weve had lankyness, obviously dick size is the next stereotype. That or Basketball, like something about black peoples incredible jumping power honed through years of black oppression.
Oh and the second oujo game deserves the no.1 spot simply because it wraps up every loose end, it completes the circle. It finishes the longest running rivalrys of the series and does it in a fricking awesome way. Shin and Senas duels alone >> the rest of the series.
-
you know, with the way black people are so invincible at football im surprised that the American team only has one of them, what where they thinking, if they had more Japan wouldn't stand a chance!
-
Wow, I don't want to imagine how saddened a black Don would be by team Japan's efforts.
-
I too am surprised that apparently Panther is the only black member on the team. I mean, do they realize how many African-Americans there are in the NFL?
What also surprises me is that we have Tatanka, a Native American character, yet no Hispanics. Hell, even NASA Aliens had the Gonzalez brothers, why not Team USA?
-
I'm still wondering if they'll mention any of this stuff "Black Genetics" stuff in front of Panther. Though I kind of doubt that happening since even the narrator is getting into it too.
-
I'd sort of love if they used an opportunity to turn it into a comic thing. Maybe take on the stereotype head-on.
Or just be outright silly.
Panther: "I know you Japanese guys are freaked out by the musculature of black men. I read Gaijin Smash on the school computers. But we're just like everyone else. The most powerful and dangerous of all is the little old lady." (points at Grandma on sideline)
Panther's Grandma: (steam rising behind her) "Obahan Attack!"
Hiruma: (hides in some equipment like Kurita once did)
-

I think they already said that. I have to go find it.
-
Awesome chapter. And Agon is taken a step closer to becoming human.
And no mention of blacks muscles.
-
I don't understand how Don can smile as often when he does considering that he's always sad.
I really enjoyed the short Hiruma vs. Tatanka.
-

thats a good point.
i wonder if the black super-athlete theory is scientific "fact" in japan, or if its just the authors opinion.
-
Well they say at running, not football in general.
I seen this come up in HnI and a couple of other mangas so it could be a Japanese view.
-
I really liked the chapter for once but… when was it that Murata begun to completely forgot how to draw any kind of detail in his manga. His art used to be so great. :/
-
I agree with you Shigan, the details seem a bit lacking. I think he's trying rush to the end of the manga without doing to much of a craptacular job.
But anyway its nice seeing Agon back with the other 2. Thought it would be a more epic play though like Impulse Devil Laser or some other.
-
Kurita proves once again why he's the ultimate offensive lineman. I fricking love it.
-
The lack of detail is a little disappointing but still with such great chapters it can be allowed but ya another great chapter especially what Hiruma said at the end of the chapter
-
@Capt:

there were a couple things that were kind of general, like i think it said "the long and slender arms only a black man could have" and something about their "springy muscles".
-
Meh chapter, I'm hoping we get to each player doing whatever it is they will do to overcome their respective opponent. (Though it kind of seems that the idea is that they will win via teamplay vs 1 on 1.)
-
Wasnt that great of a chapter…but it felt reeeeaaally long to me which i like.
Shin kicks ass as always, and Hiruma is still amazing
-
Not that bad of a chapter but as we can see once again the only man to truly hold all the cards is Hiruma
-
That was so satisfying. Seeing Clifford get his dumbass bitch palmed by Shin!
-
I have to say: The last two chapters are the first I really enjoyed in the world tournament arc.
Dunno really why, maybe it´s simply because Japan begins to show what it´s really worth. -
I liked how Shin and Agon were used this time…other than that, not much more I can say.
-
And so the pentagram falls one by one, Clifford cant outwit Hiruma, Bud cant stop Monta and Tatanka just plain sucks.
Wonder if were going to see some repercussions of Shins brutal trident tackle? after all its the first time in the series a Quarterback has ever had to take that kind of hit. Maybe they will put Homer out for a while? While Clifford catches his breath.
-
I feel weird, I like the chapter but at the same time I don't.
I felt like some situations could have handled better, maybe was it that Hiruma coul've passed the ball back to Agon when he was blitzed, or that this mind-game started and seemed to end at the same chapter…. <.<
Didn't feel convinced of what Clifford had to show besides his speed (the mind-game felt simple. I mean, those 3 blitzing him didn't feel as intense as the chapter made it to be, IMO.), wanted to see more of him...probably because the game felt a bit rushed that we don't see alot of him and the others. (I mean....look at Bud)
Still, the chapter was good.Fun fact: Next week ES21 will be absent, making it the first in a long time it has taken a pause from WJ besided double-issues. (the last time was during the Bando match, autumn 2005)
Im also kinda worried about their situation because of the absence...and also because of Muratas new one-shot.....it feels really predictable that ES21 will be ending soon.Well, Im done writing. Just wanted to take it out of my mind ever since I got worried from seeing the spoiler pic (didn't feel convinced of the ending then.)
-
I think it's obvious that ES21 is ending soon. They can't go any further than a World Cup, and I didn't see them taking the series into Sena's second year beyond an epilogue chapter. It's just not ES21 without Hiruma, Kurita, and Musashi.
-

I can see sena doing his senior year or college but that's about it
-
Goddamn Don broke Shin's right knee in retaliation for "killing" Clifford, Holy shit this match is brutal.
Gaoh's personal development with Marco was a pretty nice touch to^^
-
Got to love Mizumachi helping Agon do a high five.
And finally the dynamite is lit!
-
I loved Mizumachi getting Agon to do the high five, that made the chapter for me. I thought the chapter was a bit slow but I enjoyed the developments of Gaous beat up face and Shin's messed up leg. It's time for everything to turn around!
