      @Roronoa:

      One line of Marco I do not understand completely: "He always wanted all the booze (ok, that's clear, but then…) he never teated us to meals!" What does that mean in context? I can't imagine WB didn't supply his sons with Food. Dictionary sites also gave me no clue either.
      Can a native Speaker please enlighten me?

      He's sort of sarcastically mocking some things he didn't like about Whitebeard, realizing in hindsight the reasons he acted the way he did.

      In context it's kind of like those huge feasts Luffy and co. have at the end of arcs. Presumably Whitebeard skips those (only partaking in the booze) to secretly feed that island.

    • RE: One piece treasure cruise (7/11 Never Forget)

      Did the day one 6 pulls. Was pulling mainly for Lucy, BB, TSL, TS Sanji and TS Nami. I didn't have a ton in the pool and would be ok with Legend Sanji, Fuji, TS Zoro or enel.

      My advice: If you need a good legend lead for 300 gems pull day one. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

      Don't get too caught up in the pool rate ups legend wise. I pulled rrs and legends from all the pools and the rate up is not that amazing.

      Got 7 reds (3 guaranteed)
      All new legends
      Legend Sanji (in first multi)
      Quick Boa (from guaranteed 2nd multi)
      Fuji!
      TS Zoro (guaranteed 3rd multi…bleh)
      Legend Shanks
      Legend Aoikji
      Legend Marco
      Law 6+ (already have inu, rr wanda, sicilian and now TS nami. Finally clearing these forests)

      As for RR
      New Burgess, barto, Cabbage and Diamante no dupes
      Orlumbus dupe
      TS nami (and 4 dupes)
      Carrot (new)
      like 4 psy choppers
      2 TS franky
      3 monet
      Sentomaru...bleh (new)
      Koza (new)
      dupe pell
      Chaka (dupe)
      like 3 copies of the drunk fishman 1 of em evolved.
      fake gold zoros, + lion song
      dupe don sai
      jozu (new)
      dupe sicillian
      4 psy vivis
      2 dupe rr coby
      3 inazuma (new)
      Dupe str bon clay
      Bege x 2 (new)
      dupe bonny
      dupe buffalo
      dupe qck chopper
      fukaboshi (new)
      dupe margarite
      new zeo
      and a fuckton of Heracles dupes

      Didn't get the units I really wanted like Lucy or TSL but a ton of cool new units to play with like sanji, kuzan and fuji. And law will make sure I can finally clear content. Couldn't even beat 40 stamina anni luffy raid a while back. Good luck everybody.

      @desa:

      It's not simply a matter of wanting your own ending. It's also about Othaka clearly switching her approach. I mean the 2-3 main characters just got cut out of the last part and we went into godhood. Do you truly believe this was the author's intention rather than Sinbad facing Alibaba(or Kouen) on an ideology point of view?

      What is this approach that was changed?

      Sinbad facing Alibaba & Aladdin over his will vs solomon's will is still within the realms of possibility, it's not like this was the final chapter. But in any case this story definitively changed direction at the Alma Toran arc. The central clash stopped being about control of the world via djinn equips and becoming the true king vessel once we found out the whole idea of the clash of king vessels was part of an elaborate plan by Ugo himself. That notion should have solidified once Sinbad had took over/changed the world.

      Alma Toran changed the main ideological clash to be over how destiny and the rukh is to be handled by the "god" entity characters, Solomon, Sinbad, David, Ugo and Ill Illiah.

      I do feel this manga is being rushed which is such a shame. But the plot progression has made sense and doesn't feel made up as it goes along. She can still mess up how Sinbad will ascend to godhood and how those who oppose him will of course. But as of right now she's holding it together

      @TLC:

      He's acting like an elitist, unlikable prick condescending the pathetic humans who try and make their own Destiny. I know the theme of this series has always been go with the flow and to take comfort that everything is part of a plan but it's warped into this very cynical, heavy handed thing which I no longer feel inspired by.

      @TLC:

      The whole theme of we're all part of a great cycle felt inspiring and subtle when it felt like a natural system that we are all a part of. Aladdin was so sad when the old lady died at the start of the series but felt at peace with it because it all felt part of a greater plan. The fact that there is a literal God that oversees this cycle with his own machinations and manipulations and that there are other beings vying for this top spot completely ruins any subtlety or inspiration it once had.

      It's series ruining level of dumping on your main theme on the same level of Naruto being a chosen one or whatever bullshit Kubo came up with in Bleach.

      What a weird interpretation you have

      That inspiration should have been ruined in that Alma Toran arc when you found out that the "greater plan" was all the doing of Solomon once he became a "god". Chapter 232 to be exact, the same thing you feel brought he magicians to tears and it's the same reason Arba & company hate Solomon. Ugo himself has only been carrying out solomon's will this entire time. All he did take the power that people would consider "god" level and made that less than what was actually left to him by solomon as guardian of the sacred palace.I like how magi approaches these meta level concepts and depicts such ridiculously high levels of power. Compare a "god" in magi to a god in DBZ super.

      I think everybody is dumping on Ohkta based on how how they feel this series should have went rather than whats wrong with how it actually did. I share some of that disappointment since we'll never get to see Sinbad vs Kouen and probably won't get a proper resolution to alibaba's character arc with being the prince of Balabadd.

      However I have to give Ohkta her credit, this manga never stopped being interesting and she's great at writing within the context of her universe. The way the story progressed always seemed to make sense in context with little asspulling and nobody ever seemed to be out of character. She's also really good at making her characters in a moral grey area. it feels like every character that has aspired for more power has been portrayed as an antagonist to an extent. Even Sinbad now has good intentions for the rukh. He's striving to ensure the world has the peace his current world has for an eternity. Since only he can see the path of destiny, he realized the world would descend into war some time after his body has passed so he wants to overwrite the rukh himself while he still has the chance even though nobody but him wants him to go this far.

      It's also in no way dumping on the main theme, in fact we're pretty much approaching the climax/final clash of the main theme if Sinbad can turn the tables on Ugo and change Solomon's will.

      Look at arba's eyes on that panel where she's cracking that smile. One eye Hakuei's style the other in crazed arba mode. The smile came from her being proud of her brother's growth….kinda sublime

      Hakuei could probably sabotage arba from her body in a future fight. It would suck if hakuryuu has to kill his mom and his sister tho

      @Silence:

      With how interesting, poignant, and measured the last few chapters have been,
      I'm a bit taken aback by the kvetching I'm reading?

      I suppose whether this kind of thing bothers you depends on how greatly you're enjoying a story.

      regarding the past couple of chapters, vis-a-vis Alibaba coming back
      Why the hell wouldn't you want him to?? He's such an interesting character! Though placed in a position of complicated loyalties, he manages to remain earnest, charming, and likeable.
      He doesn't have all the answers right away, and isn't always driving the plot, but he's certainly an important part of it. He has the qualities of a great, humble shounen protagonist.
      What purpose does it serve for him to remain dead, besides shock value? That "I can't believe they did that in this manga!" contingent that wants the main cast to all die to satisfy
      some sick urge to have ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES DAMMIT, FOREVER. DIE, GOOD GUYS, because I can't get my itch for the macabre scratched elsewhere!!! (you can).

      Who cares if he ultimately comes back so long as the characters convince you: through words and through behavior, that it seems like he won't?
      Are you reading this manga because you care about the world and characters in it, or are you here to check off a tropes checklist?
      Try turning your brains off a little - just a little, guys! There are way worse chronic cliche offenders than Magi.

      like, idgaf if Judar remains gone, who honestly cares about him, he's a big baby
      But I think Alibaba has more value in this manga than out.

      @Razh:

      Probably because he sees things in a distorted way. He manages to twist anything in a way that makes his actions justified for him. Here we had Alibaba trying to find some common ground with Haku, only for the latter to concentrate on one thing and make it look like Alibaba was trying to manipulate him as if he is some kind of a villain. Quite a spin.

      Might seem weird but world is filled with people who will get caught up with any small detail that seemingly gives them legitimacy to do something they think is right or that gives them some kind of benefit. Politicians, corporate heads, dictators, religious fanatics, revolutionaries, protesters, terrorists, psychos… You name it.

      Compared to this, Sasuke is a kids cartoon character.

      This.

      Haku fell into depravity initially on a hypocritical decision. If he really just wanted to defeat Gyoken and save Kou, he could've done so with Aladdin and co. But he chose Judar because he was the only person who could help him kill Gyoken while letting him hold on to his hatred. He's addicted to it. He already stated that the only way he can live is by following his wrath. Alibaba was already able to sense the change.

      Now Haku is just a vessel for his hate. He's already gone. 250 was such a powerful chapter cause once his mother was gone Haku was empty until he could find a target to re-invigorate his wrath toward. (Kouen) Any reasoning he provides is just a rationalization to justify his hatred. Even Judar silently called BS on his reasoning. But Haku will take any excuse he can to justify his bloodlust. The underlined is so right, people do this all the time irl. Especially office politics

      @Kizuchan:

      He's frustrated with nobody actually doing anything against the horrible ruling of Kou. I'd say that's just about as understandable.

      But this whole thing just confuses me about the whole going against fate thing. So despite the white ruhk being Solomon's will - everyone choosing their own fate, why is Hakuryuu's/Judal's logic considered "falling" by it? Shouldn't it be like Mogamett, who was surrounded by white ruhk despite his intentions?

      Mogamett had white rukh because when it came to actual magicians he had nothing but love for them.

      But Hakuryuu and Judar are drawing from intense feelings of anger/hatred in their heart. Even though they both acknowledge that it would be a good and sensible idea to team up with the others since they have a common goal, but they refuse because neither can let go of their resentment. All it would take is for them to forgive or forget and let go of their anger they had during the times they suffered in silence, but that shit isn't easy irl either. So they're both lashing out at the entire world.

      Amazing chapter.

      @Enzeru:

      http://urasunday.com/magi/comic/030_002.html

      Summary (taken from MAL's Magi club)

      ! -Sin appologizes to the guards and asks where they can get permission to sell. The guards explain they need the get the approval of the merchants' guild to sell their goods, otherwise, their business dealings are all illegal.
      ! -After the crowd is gone, a man approach them and offers to buy their goods. Sinbad hesitates that they don't have permission, but the man reassures them that he knows a lot of routes. He adds that they have all come from a far place and it will be a waste if they come out empty-handed. As they receive their money and the man leaves with their goods, the hooded man makes a remark that he had overestimated them and that they were just novices.
      ! -Jafar and co are pleased they made a lot of cash, however, Sinbad reveals that they have made a big loss. He shows them by going to another store and shows them that their goods have be put up for sale for 5-10 times the price that they had sold them for. They did sell them, however, that owner of that store is the one that made the profit.
      ! -They ask him why he signed the contract then and he explains that between being unable to get into the guild and having their goods become spoiled, he had no choice. He then goes on that at this rate, if they're not able to make profit, he can't build his country. Everyone in the group turns out to be a novice when it comes to business and trade and they become depressed that they can't do anything, and Sinbad goes into his 'what are you guys talking about? I'm here!' mode. Money can move the world, and merchants are the ones who can make a lot if it. They know nothing about trade right now, but they all can learn about it. They all cheer up
      ! -In the end, Hina and co will go back to Imuchakk yo stock up while as Sinbad will stay behind to solve the guild issue. He was the one who signed the contract and wants to take responsibility and gain back the money they lost. The round trip will take several months. After they leave, Sinbad intends to learn more: about this country, anout the world, about the different people who live in it and about commerce. But before that he needs to eat.

      While I'm at it here's Sinbad's Adventures volume 4's RE
