aha nah not really, im a pretty content guy ^^ but hey if you like to complain thats cool, just try to base the complaints on something more concrete, you dont know that this arc is just a big gag any more than I do
yeah and while we're at it lets have the sunny hop over to raftel in 1 chapter :getlost: thatd be problem solved for you i suppose
the fact that you liked the WB vs WG arc didn't disprove what I said, as that arc had an awful lot to do with the over-arching storyline. meh
I was talking about life in general. we either complain or praise. Please choose a side and let's get kicking. :ninja:
Still not even you like every single detail in one piece. If that is not a fact I do believe you are lying.
No I was serious. The wall is not so high up. Can't believe no one thought of that yet. I mean sunny can boost and go into the air. They just need some modding and we are all good to go man.
Over-Arching? LOL is that even a word? If it is I never heard of it. Please explain. :ninja:
-
over·arch·ing (-iŋ)
adjective- forming an arch above or overhead
- encompassing or linking all that is within its scope, range, etc.: an overarching theory, theme, etc.
o·ver·arch·ing Adjective /ˌōvərˈärCHiNG/
-
Forming an arch over something
- the overarching mangroves
-
Comprehensive; all-embracing
- a single overarching principle
-

Still not a good definition.
Explain further please. :wassat:

you know how there are plots for each arc in OP?
well the over overarching story line is Luffy trying to become to pirate king, it's the bigger picture. All the arcs are really part of one big arc, that big arc is the overarching story line.
each arc has overarching plot development to a greater or lesser extent, and the war arc had it to a great extent.

or we just enjoy ourselves  no need to group people like that
nah there is the occasional thing i dont like (like how it was never explained how mr.3 got onto the execution platform) but theres no way i'd write something off before ive seen it - im gonna assume the fishman island arc will be good because almost every single arc has been
heh well maybe, still doubt it though. Anyway luffy seems the sort who would prefer to go the scenic route. plus he wants to see jimbei again i expect
try looking it up (Y) its a word and makes sense in context
EDIT: or read louis cypher's accurate definition above -

Wait, are you talking about the red line? Because if you are then did you even read chapter 490? The red line is so huge the top of it is lost in the bleeding clouds. no way they can get Sunny to just jump over it.
Edit: @Stylishman have you ever actually watched OP on acid? It sounds hilarious.

Why are you taking that guy seriously?
-
Why are you taking that guy seriously?
Because my natural inclination is to mistrust everybody and you find that when you don't trust anyone at all it's easiest to act as if everyone is serious/honest. The alternative is to act the opposite which really doesn't work out very well, trust me.

As to say the conclusion of first part (just before the time skip). Well now I'm following.
Still don't see how what….Oh so the over-arc or whatever you call it is just suppose to be bigger/better by default just because it had all the build up from previous arcs? Making it a winner by default. :ninja:
-

No, there are no previous arcs. All of the arcs are part of the overarching plot.
Do you watch tv? If so then it's like a season of some tv show. There is usually a story that takes place over the course of the season (unless it's a comedy/sitcom kind of show). For instance, in season 3 of House there was this long fight between House and this cop. Each episode was part of that story, that conflict between those two characters, but each episode was at the same time it's own unique story, with it's own plot-line and conflict.
The overarching story isn't by default better than in single arc in the story. a single arc can be better than the rest of the story, although that's all a matter of opinion.

How about, instead, you check whether or not what the person posted makes any sort of sense. If it doesn't make sense you should attack them accordingly, with things like 'did something unfortunate happen in your life to make you that stupid or were you born that way?' or 'what the hell made you post something so stupid for everyone to see?'.
Honestly, that guy probably made his account today and has done nothing but post stupid shit the whole time, I'm not holding my breath for him to change what he posts either.

Yeah well that is given. Yeah I get. Small pieces make one big piece.
So you guys have a name for that. That is something unique. Never heard of expression like that. .
Yeah but in a way I was correct. Since WB arc was build up on all the previous arcs and it took the best elements of many of them it made it really good arc, not to mention massive and size and grandeur.
So over-arching is kind of a passive word right and not negative one?
p.s how the hell is house unique? I find it plain as hell?
-
p.s how the hell is house unique? I find it plain as hell?
I'll give you that, perhaps unique wasn't quite the right word.
-
I'll give you that, perhaps unique wasn't quite the right word.
Just a personal opinion. Don't mind me. I haven't followed house from episode to episode. just seen some random episodes and thought it was boring as hell by the end of second one.
But that goes for anything inside all these criminal drama series. They all have this scooby do plots. It's very boring to watch.
Anyways back on topic.
I hope this arc leads to anything good. Like finding out more of that lost time of WG we found out in skypia. That would be something.
-
cough Medical drama/comedy cough
I think finding out more about the lost time (waaay before WG) will be later, at the moment I'm hoping for a new nakama. (SURUBE!) and/or a shichibukai fight.

I bet it will be something horrific as in they had other masters (some sort of pirate era that ruled everyone. They where just like DoFla expresses "Justice". But got overthrown by current WG)
I bet this guy just knows more than anyone thinks. He really knows stuff.
-
i think its same as sky island..we thought it was only one.but revealed later there are many
i dont get the point for the gorousei to discuss about peace between races,if they come only from this island…comparing to all the humans.
so,in the new world,many fishman islands -
i think its same as sky island..we thought it was only one.but revealed later there are many
That's plausible…
-
Only legit reason to even have this arc is for silly boys to finally see some half naked mermaids that sanji will go crazy about and we will get a laugh or 2. Is there any reason to even have this arc anyways?
As for them needing this arc no they don't "need" it at all. They can just build something to get quick jump over red line with sunny. Problem solved.
This entire island is just a big gag.
This entire island is just a big gag.
What the fuck did I just read.
-
This idiot is talking about just jumping over the red line completely ignoring log poses.
-
Now THAT was so…retarded? damn, I can't even find a word to describe the epic retardedness in what ice_age did...maybe AlmostLegendary gets near to that level?
-

revelatory of where the theory of natural selection failed to deliver?
-
SH went to FI using the hardest way..there actually short cut..remember Sky Island arc??Hahaha
-
i say that they will fight fishman pirates

plenty of people said that. I'm with you people.

New ideas are not tolerated I assume. Hey what else is new?
But just to give more edge(as in icy edge's) on new ideas. I think they could easilly have a device that drills right trough the red line. I mean it would be nothing for a guy like Franky to invent a machine that can do that. It would be so epic Franky's name would be remembered for eternity.
But hey if this was possible we would not see what is hidden in that fishmen island.
And the crowd goes wild. woot, woot
-
New ideas are not tolerated I assume. Hey what else is new?
new ideas are tolerated quite well as long as they have some modicum of reason backing them up. Saying that an arc that has been spoken within the manga for years and anticipated by fans all round the world for just as long is just a big gag is not a reasonable new idea, it is a particularly twisted delusion. That or nothing more than a sad attempt to get a reaction out of people as some sort of power trip.

I was talking about the big jump over red line. I was referring to that. And no new ideas are ever tolerated. It's simple.
People just want to much.

You're aware of the fact that for the crew to navigate the New World, they need to reach Fishman Island for the Log Pose to set, right?

Remember - no one knows you personally. So a lot of implied humour and personality traits are not apparent immediately. It is also weighed down with text being a difficult medium to communicate in if used poorly.
The point is - why build up something to steal it away from your readers? Oda puts a lot of work into his manga and as such gives us a lot of stability in some of the set ups he puts in motion.
The Log pose pointed up - they went to Sky Island.
Ergo
The Log pose points down - they go to FIGetting through the GL is not about speed it is about the adventure that much has been stated enough times - Many of the crew have looked forward to the FI - so it is happening.
-
And no new ideas are never tolerated.
You're wrong.
Here: http://apforums.net/showthread.php?t=13350
That thread tolerates these "new ideas" you're talking about.
-
why the red line? why not just hop directly to Raftel while we're at it?
-

No. You just can't make a good post to save your own life.
-
Even if I did make a good post (and I have a few times) it would not be tolerated. It's so, so simple.
kagehisa that joke has been done. it's no more fun than it was the first time.
Well apparently I have seen enough here to say that criticism is not tolarated it's that simple. I been to other sites and criticism is more widely tolerated. Well at least this is how I see it.
And no it is not true. I mean other crews did make it to new world without going through fishmen island if I remember correctly.
Well speed should be part of adventure. What is the point of going on the same line 1000's of times. I need quality in the adventure not quantity. I rather have shorter adventure and more quality than shit loads of quantity. But I guess that makes me a "bad fan".
-

Not true to be honest - but it is about getting your point across not just about writing your point.

My point above again - how you criticise is different from just stating things on paper - one of the most important things I have learnt here is to think about things a little more before I write them.
And no it is not true. I mean other crews did make it to new world without going through fishmen island if I remember correctly.
Correct - you can go over if you are in good favour with the marines or world government - Luffy unfortunatly is not in good standing with them.

And then what One Piece is finished in 5 years like planed?
Would you be happy or sad and wanting more?
In the time it takes to finish One Piece people who started reading it when released may well have grown up had a family and be able to have their children start reading One Piece as they do.Being impatient is natural - up to you to control it.
-

Heh, that's always my problem, I never think about anything before I right it down. Saying whatever comes into my head without thinking it through has always been a terrible flaw of mine.
-

No it's about writing down my point. It's the same as writing down my praise to one piece as much as to criticize it for whatever reason it might be. There is no difference. Only 2 factions. People who will disagree and and people who will agree. Both will make good points why they think the way they do and if the opposite faction thinks they are not doing a good job it just means that they just don't want to agree on certain facts. And that is perfect human thing to do.
Stating things is just having an opinion.
I was not talking about the marines. I was talking about crews like Eustass Kid or that mob guy crew. The ones that came to SA at the same time as luffy and his crew. Of course Boney was really unlucky in that regard. This is of course one of those reasons why you should avoid going that route. Like I said drill a hole in red line and be done with it. People just lack creativity.
It's not about if I am happy or sad when it's over. main thing is strecthing out any kind of show is never good thing. Just look how bad it ended with dragon ball series. I mean DBGT. Worse show ever and all because fans just wanted more and never had enough. I think it's always a better idea for same authors like oda, kishi, TK or whatever it may be to move on to other projects where new stories and characters might await them.
With creativity they have I have no doubt they could pull of some amazing stuff for our children generation. No need to stretch out one piece until it becomes this repetitive adventure that no longer serve purpose. Quality over quantity.
Even adventures should have good story structure and not some be just some loose ideas flowing around here and there.
-

other crews crossed the calm belt to get into the new world they did not jump over the red line big difference

I like how this ice_edge guy even had the gall to put "drilling a hole in the Red Line" and "creativity" in one sentence.
Too bad he's already banned, though. I'd like to read more of his "new ideas."
-
Looking at the island closely I can see what may be a royal castle in the upper bubble, leave it to Oda to literaly make a huge fish bowl complete with a castle.
Seems like there are many homes/villages/shops surrounded in bubbles as well. I bet bubble bikes like in shaboady are the usual method for non fish folk.
Can't wait until the "sky" and clouds are explained, I always assumed everything would just be in some super large underwater cave.

He can have his own "idea" but to talking so bad on Oda masterpiece, that's rude..

@Don:
http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs40/i/2009/032/4/c/natural_ink_by_robbingraves.jpg
The sign(hoply) of van der Decken
But Van der Decken has nothing to do with octopuses. the only animal that I can see to have any connection to the flying dutchman is an albatros, since that animal is part of the legend.
The flying dutchmen was to set sail on the cape of good hope (south africa) on Good Friday. The crew thought this to be a bad idea, bacause it brings bad luck to sail out on that day. Captain Van der Decken would here nothing of it. then an Albatros flew by, which terrified the sailors, since that also brings bad luck. Van der Decken became enraged and shot the bird, the worst thing a sailor can do, and proclaimed that even if he had to sail for eternity, he would sail. The flying dutchman left port but sunk in a storm. sometimes sailors at the cape of good hope still see a ghostship during a storm. with a single man at the steering wheel accompanied by a big bird.
