I know it's been a while since I've been on, but trust me! I have my reasons…Anyway, I'm sorry if someone beat me to this. The idea came from not one spontaneous whim, but from sevral succesive events: I wrote a report and created a poster on the Spanish Empire and it's colonization of the Americas (2006), I watched several conspiracy theory videos and read many objective/differently-opinonated books (06-07), I travelled to Chicago, Detroit, Akron, Colombus, Troy and other great locations to conduct Sociological research, and I read some Islamic books (Harun Yahya, Darrusalam) to further reasearch on the Anti-Christ and the last days on Earth. Enjoy!

      Arabasta:

I think Crocodile is supposed to be the Dajjal (Anti-Christ, False Messiah). Either that, or he is a zionist spy because he creates illusions (Changing weather, bringing people back, blackmailing the King) that causes people to loose fath and hope. And when they do, they accept HIM as the new leader (There is no other option...!)^

      Shy-Nee Cull-ers…Pretty staaar....

      Supporting him being zionist:^^
-It was implied he used to be like Lufy before the GrandLine corrupted him.
      -Prestigious background turned out wrong.
-The Govt., and this is a FACT, used him to help take over countries
-The Five Elder Stars are either the leaders of the 5 super-powers (Isreal, U.K, U.S, Russia, China) or they are the secret leaders of the Synagogue of Satan (Who controls the zionists at the top). Note: There are five points on a pentagram.

Yeah, Arabasta was obviously inspired by Arabian Civil War, WMD's and whatnot. Vivi is liberal Shiite Muslim, Khoza is Sunni.

      SkyPeia:

Enel is Atahualpa, the tyrant of the Incas. The Straw-Hats and The Sarumayan alliance are the colonists, the Shandians are the Natives just trying to live in peace. The gold is…the gold.

The tyrant, in all his self-righteous glory.

Here is the conquistador himself, envoy of the Spanish Empire. Luffy's pirate King outfit in 10 years…? Naw.

      THIS, IS…INCA...!

      Similarities in events:

-Francisco Pizarro, the conquistador, held Atahualpa for ransom but executed him even though he paid the money. The reason was b.s because he charged him with killing his brother and plotting against the colonists (Which he DID); and the only reason was so that he didn't anger the natives.^^^
-The Shandians are over-joyed to be "liberated" and are going to give the gold anyway when the Straw-Hats "steal" it and run (A light-hearted reference to the greedy exploits of Cortez, another conquistador).
-Luffy is hell-bent on "sending Enel flying" and fights him despite the promises of gold and favorable conditions. He did plot the survival game after-all, and hurt his friends.
In addition to the above, this is what Francisco Pizarro said to Atahualpa: "When you have seen the errors in which you live, you will understand the good we have done by coming to your land…our lord permited that your pride be brought low and that no Indian should be able to offend a Christian,".^^^^

      Compare THAT to:

"Yeah right, you don't look like God!"

      and

"There are many men in the blue seas who are capable of defeating you; you are NOTHING,".^^^^^
-Wiper symbolizes all the Native Americans feelings: Ancestry love, pride in one's Nation, keeping culture alive. It is historically accurate for him to hate BOTH super-powers even though one helped get rid of the other (Luffy/Pizarro defeating Enel/Atahualpa). He has no choice but to thank and support Luffy, but like Shinomori Aoshi, it was a "temporary alliance".

So yeah…Oda has done a truck-load of research before writing these mega-arcs...I think he is brilliant. In the first manga, he wrote: "I have gathered lots of research material before writing this [pirate story]. And if you consider that his manga has universal appeal, and the World Govt. always seems to parallel the Bush Administration (They are currently removing Islamic books and other religious books from the prison system, just like the Govt. in One Piece did to Ohara) he is is fact a Conspiracy theorist and an exposer of the truth. Just like Alex Jones: rich in information but soft-spoken enough to not get himself killed. Could he be the true successor of George Orwel…?

            @Kitsune::

Quite interesting yes, but that's only 2…...

The third is CP9, towards the end before citation. I kind of rushed that part:

"Big Brother" was coined by George Orwel and is a major plot-device in his books. The World Govt. indeed fits the description of Totalitarian politics with constant surveillance.

-They use people to set an example (Ohara, Gold Roger).
            -They have thought police (Navy)
-They censor history and create un-persons (Ponelygraphs).

            It is just a manga.

There are four traditional roles for the artist:

            1. To record the world
            2. To reveal hidden or universal truths
            3. To see the world in new light (ways)
            4. To reveal hidden or universal truths.

1984 is just a book. The religious texts of Monotheism are just processed paper with rich ink colligraphy. The Constituion is just a bunch of wrinkly, yellow papers. Your statement is the usual bland, apathetic response from the proles (cattle). I'm not even going to stress over it. Need I say more…?

Nice research but One Piece is really not that deep. I remember in a SBS that someone asked if Sodom and Gomorrah are based on the cities that God destroyed implying that the WG has godly power, to which Oda replied that his manga is not that deep. But good work nevertheless.

I think the thing of Soddom and Goamorrah was a bit less deep than people make it to be. I mean, despite my bad memory related to stuff of the bible, I think that the people of one of the cities didn't had to look back when their neighbors were destroyed by god, so I would rather say that Sodomm and Gamorrah rush into the WG was just that, one kept going after the other was shoot down by the WG….

I think the thing of Soddom and Goamorrah was a bit less deep than people make it to be. And as ridiculous as it may see, I think that Ennies Lobby actually more related to Animal Farm. I mean, the Pigs actually trained some puppies to become Killing Machines, just like the CP9 was trained since their childhood to become what they were, plus Spandam was pretty naive like the horses, just dreaming about getting more "unknown" reward (Well, we don't even know what kind of job would he get if he became the "hero" that saved the world from Nico Robin...) for working hard, wich obviously lead him to an ugly end like that one horse that was sold to a Glue Factory after becoming a so called hero. And finally, the thing of making the people of the world to forget about the events of the past and hide information from them (Gol D. Roger, the forgotten history, Monkey D. Dragon, Ohara....). Well, I just compared them because both are kinda short.

Anyways, I wouldn't be surprised if the WG was behind the creation of the thousands of islands that form the OP World. I mean, there couldn't have been a better way to conquer an ancient civilization than dividing it's population in small communities located on many islands. There's also the thing of Odz. What if the FES or his ancestors found a way to control him? With the whole thing of Alien Races seeking the resources of the Earth, there's a slight chance of the FES being from an Alien Ancestry and Odz being nothing but their former Space Slave...

Soddom and Gommora eh…? Well, the term sodomy, commonly used by us video-game/anime/fight debators to mean beyond the cliche 'pwn', is defined in the dictionary as "n. Any of various forms of sexual intercourse held to be unnatural or abnormal".

What were the people of those cities doing…? Homosexuality. In the quran, the Prophet Lut (Lot, لوط) had a wife that was told "not to look back" and she did, being destroyed in the process. And there are a few verses going over some of their sick practices:

"Do you commit tje worst sin such as none has preceding you has commited in the Alamin (Mankind, Jin, sentient beings)...?"

"Verily, you practise your lusts on men instead of women. Naym but you are a people transgressing beyond bounds (commiting great sins),"

                            Surah 7, verses 80-81.

What is now known as the "Red Sea" Basin is scientifically proven to be the lowest place on Earth. Geographically, it is within the region of Iraq. The Byzantium Romans, led by Heraclius were getting the snot beaten out of them. Paganist Persia was driving them out of their land, and scarfing up territories. Several other warriar clans also harrassed them, to the point where Civil War scuffles occured and Golden Church monuments were melted for money (To finance the military).

In 620 C.E, the Arabs wanted a Roman victory because they both upheld monotheistic beliefs and the Persians were dickwads. Just when all hope seemed lost, a chapter in the quraan was produced predicting a Roman defeat "on the lowest place in Earth," and that is what happen. Strangely enough, the same verse stated "they themselves would be victorious," but only after getting thoroughly sodomized 😆.

Guess what...? When the archangel 'Gabriel' (Gavriʼel, Jibreel) was ordered by God to assemble the angels and destroy the town for their crimes, they were launching meteors at them and causing violent weather storms. Lot and his few followers+family were told to march out and "not to look back," but of course his wife did and bought her ticket to hell. Anyway, Gabriel is supposed to be the most zealous and powerfull of the angels. The Prophet Muhammad said "he had 600 wings, was large enough to fill the horizon, and could travel to his Lord and back as fast as a twinkle," ZOMG, liek, we didn't discover the speed of light till 14 centuries l8r!!!

Logically, he shouldn't have to use his full strength to destroy two puny towns:

                            For you Physician Science nerds

                            DAAAYYM. Gabriel was a BEAST.

I watched several conspiracy theory videos and read many objective/differently-opinonated books (06-07),

Was one of them Loose Change? I'd like to know because it'll have a large effect on whether or not I ever need to take your opinions on anything seriously.

What were the people of those cities doing…? Homosexuality. In the quran, the Prophet Lut (Lot, لوط) had a wife that was told "not to look back" and she did, being destroyed in the process. And there are a few verses going over some of their sick practices:

                              Surah 7, verses 80-81.

The problem with that the notion that Sodom and Gomorrah were primarily destroyed for practice of homosexuality is that most of the texts describing said incident tend to stress that the primary causes of their destruction were malicious cruelty, arrogance, inhospitality, and lack of obedience to the will of God. The notion that homosexuality is usually listed as the primary cause is largely the result of people searching for explicit condemnations of said practice in biblical texts.

Beyond that, Lut's wife did not leave the city with him, but was destroyed along with the citizens of the city after they ignored Lut's messages about abandoning polytheism, dishonesty, indecency of action, and, again, inhospitality.

                              Complicating things since 2009.

I think I read this thread once before. It was called Foucault's Pendulum, and it was written by Umberto Eco.

Good show, Masta D. It makes me miss the tedious work of Chlodwig Chillingfrost and others.

But Arabasta comes from a very familiar person in Egyptian History: Ramsses II. You might know him as Moses' half-brother, the guy who Moses freed the slaves from in the Bible. But prior to the Exodus, there was the great Battle of Kadesh that occurred. This battle wasn't a Civil War like the Arabasta situation was, but it did involve pirates; specifically, the Shardana Sea Pirates, a band of nomads like the Mongols, who instead of traveling on foot, were nomads on the ocean (a true pirate). Ramses went to great lengths to curb the actions of the Shardana, which usually involved coastal raids and pillaging.

Couple that with the fact that his most famous wife was Nefertari II, who was practically deified during her lifetime, and there you go.

I called it wrong, so long ago. I guess this needs to be changed.

Oda followed that up by saying that it is where he got it's name from. It doesn't hurt to speculate.

                                              Oda also said this.

He of course also puts a lot of thought into certain aspects of his story.

Though I wonder if that quote (or half-quote) is why people here, I noticed, always tend to make degrading comments towards people who make a topic that's more than 10 words (maybe a slight exaggeration.) Like it's some insult to them, when they don't even have to respond.

                                                            @CodedTech:

As someone who made a topic longer than this with cited and sourced info tryin to dig into a mystery.
I can assure you your basically entirely wrong and are hilariously backing up an obvious attempt at satire or otherwise batshit insane person.

These include banking types, lobbyists, and war mongers advocating totalitarionist rule. 2) Astute Jews. These include the Orthodox Jews (Who resemble Amish in appearance and life-style) and people who are honestly trying to practice their religion and study the Torah. 3) Culture Jews, who are your average every day people Jews. They either love Isreal or strongly disagree with it. Of the three, the Gorosei obviously are the first. Either that, or 1/5 of them belong to said sect.

One Piece is not that deep man.

Then the name was Crocodile from Peter Pan, the crocodile ate Captain Hook;s hand... and guess what... Crocodile has a hook!

Wherein we have warring factions, the onslaught on thier world by one alien force and its subsequent defeat is important in UNITING them. If Ener was one of thiers than there would be something awry about him being beaten and having his people be palsy with the others.

Notice how you ignore all my other points and narrow in on "the jew issue"…?😆 It's as if that is the only thing you can't accept. I can see through you like a baloon.

HAH! The other points, maybe I am going a little over-board, but the INCAS? WTF, man, they were exploited like African slaves. You are forgetting the fact that whosoever wins the war gets to re-write history…Francisco Pizarro was a devil and so was Ataualpa.

You do realize that the golden city of el dorado was really in mexico, not peru so the golden city with the bell is irrelevant with the shandians, if I even were to be making such assumptions I would go with native americans at most with a mix of mayan/aztec (unsure)

You do realize that you said that Pizzaro liberated the incans right? you do know that to begin with Atahualpa was considered a god from the sun, he was never what you described him.

Pizarro *sp filled a room with gold in which the deal was that he would leave and not kill them if the conditions were met, they were.

an expedition of 10-20 people killed over 200 people, how is that liberating.

Dude you have no idea to what you are saying.

Ok if you know so much explain to me why was there a beanstalk in Skypeia? is it because with global warming the plants will grow uber 10000 feet in the air where the 2nd ocean or heaven is and that Enel is jesus and his priest were his apostoles?

Its a tale, a folk tale or just a story, there is no hidden meaning if you play the episode backwards you won't hear love satan, please stop butchering the story.

At least with Crocodile you were at least nailing some points, with enel you blew it out of proportion.

Enel is a white rapper, thats all he is.

Luffy is an original entity made for a shonen, how boring would it be if his ambitions were not that big?

Ener is DISTINCTLY an outside force, in fact its incredibly thematically important to the plot of Skypiea. Wherein we have warring factions, the onslaught on thier world by one alien force and its subsequent defeat is important in UNITING them. If Ener was one of thiers than there would be something awry about him being beaten and having his people be palsy with the others.
                                                                                        "Ener = King of Incas

                                                                                        They are blood enemies.

You also completely failed to factor in the Angels/Gan Forr.

You can't ignore things to make a theory fit, that of course means it doesn't fit.
                                                                                        What dosen't fit dosen't fit.

Zephos, I am not attempting to give out one, single inspiration. There are several factors involved.

The Incas can be divided up into: Ataualpian supporters, advocates of the Colony, and neutral. Just like the Survival Game.

Both Ener and Ataualpa under-estimated the colonists, and were killed/defeated with similar justifications:

-Ata had a personal Civil War against his brother before the Colonists. Enel claimed to have destroyed his last home before conquering Skypeia. HMM…
-Pizarro stated Ata killed his brother and conspired against him just to be sure no one (Incas) overreacted.
-Luffy gained support from the Skypeians BEFORE taking on the Enelists. His justification was "for the monkey's" and like Pizarro, he was mostly after the gold. (Remember Gold/God/Glory...?)

The straw-hats are symbolic of the colonists; first of all what do colonists do…? Definition: 1.an inhabitant of a colony. 2.a member of a colonizing expedition. To colonize means you are exploring uncharted waters and attempting to settle. The key word here is "explore". Cricket tells Luffy what they are doing is romantic. They go on freaking treasure-hunting quests, Luffy even has a hiking stick. And gold played a MAJOR role in both incarnations.

The Shandians are clearly modeled after central american indian cultures.
                                                                                        Not the mountainous Incan one.

Why can't it be a little bit of both…? Or, the Shandians for North Americans and Skypeians for Incans...?

                                                                                        Angels/Gan Forr...WTF are u talking about...?

                                                                                          Nope.

                                                                                          Nope.

To colonize means you are exploring uncharted waters and attempting to settle. The key word here is "explore".

The other key word is "settle".

Cricket tells Luffy what they are doing is romantic. They go on freaking treasure-hunting quests, Luffy even has a hiking stick. And gold played a MAJOR role in both incarnations.

                                                                                          And absolutly no settling whatsoever.
Again, you can't ignore half of something because one half fits.

He is called Harun in Islamic text. What would he be doing in Egypt...? And who in the Arabasta arc would fit this role anyway...? Igaram? Cobra was just one kindly old king, framed, and always worried about his free-roaming daughter. I'm not challenging your studies, just curious how they'd be applied.

Surely you've heard of Exodus in the bible. Historically, Ramsses II was Pharaoh of Egypt at the time of the Great Exodus, which Moses led. The story goes that Pharaoh only wanted women born, so every male child was to be cast into the river. His mother, not wanting to kill the child, put him in a basket and floated him down the river, where he was found by Ramsses II's mother and raised together with him as Prince Consort. And you probably know the rest of the story.

Anyway, Arabasta very loosely mimics this. Kohza would be Moses, in a way. And Vivi is Nefertari, the beloved wife, who traveled far and wide to promote her husband the Pharaoh.

I called it wrong, so long ago. I guess this needs to be changed.

IT IS NOT ABSURD TO SUGGEST MORE THAN 1 thing influenced even a single concept in the story. That is what this whole thread is about.

                                                                                                    Now to continue ^^.

@ Zephos: The Aztecs are the ones who the Europeans claimed had gold. I'd pick them, but too many strange variables were involved with that war. For one thing, disease was brought over and took ad toll on Native sides (Not in present setting, and don't pull the tree disease out of your ass, that was before Norland even came). Second, the Natives were kicking butt for 75% of that battle and OUTNUMBERED the invaders. Third, their leader saw Cortez as a God (The OPPOSITE of Luffy and Enel).

-Luffy gained support from the Skypeians BEFORE taking on the Enelists. His justification was "for the monkey's" and like Pizarro, he was mostly after the gold.
Two angels, a former King, two pirate crews, and unanimous Civilian support isn't enough for you…? You haven't discounted the FACT Luffy was after gold, and ran away after "stealing it" in a humorus fashion refferencing Hernando Cortez (As I said earlier). As for settling, well, the Sarumayans were basically doing that by wallowing in the mud of Jaya and sending the Straw-Hats to the other half.

-Pizarro stated Ata killed his brother and conspired against him just to be sure no one (Incas) overreacted. And this has what to do with Ener?

Everyone did need anymore PH34R, they knew what Enel could do. Also, Luffy couldn't reason with Waipa until the SH's explained he was trying to ring the bell for Cricket's descendant…and he burst into tears. They (Shandians and some Skypeans) also knew that Gan Fall was the former "God", and Enel usurped his throne. Sound familiar...? ZOMG, L1ek, Civil War b4 th3 colonists c4me...! 😴 I said that…

Arabasta seems more like a Japanese perspective of the Iraq war to me . But, I mean if you consider that Crocodile was after Pluton (WMD's), and there are two major sides (Shi'ite, Sunni), and then a covert group taking major action every once in a while (America and Co.), it is VERY similar to Iraq (Although Oda may have written it well before the war itself, but similar battles occured in the Middle-East). You make some decent points though. Kohza was seperated from Vivi for, what was it ten years…? Then he was a completel tranformed rev.

How the hell is Kohza Moses, and Vivi his wife.
Kohza's story isn't anything like Moses', Cobra is nothing like Ramses either. Niether is the scenario.

Hence the world "loosely". Kohza and his father are like Moses because they took a bunch of people on an "Exodus" of sorts to the middle of the desert to form a town. He also displayed his "power" to Cobra by saving Vivi's life, similar to how Moses showed his power to Ramsses. Both rulers relented, and let the people go.

I called it wrong, so long ago. I guess this needs to be changed.

If I'm not mistaken, the invasion of Iraq was roughly around halfway through Skypiea or well over a year after Alabasta ended.

Anytime I read this line of thought, I can't help but think about Tolkien's rant in his foreword to Lord of the Rings.
