Most definitely. I was just speaking in terms of kick ass beat downs only. Clever tactics (which collecting a huge amount of salt and getting him to eat it definitely are) are a different field.

I disagree. The strawhat crew certainly has the muscle to give odz a fair fight. As the battle with ryuma showed, zombies have their fair share of vulnerabilities. A group attack from the entire strawhat crew could certainly take advantage of these and possibly slice and dice odz.
Their options for defeating odz are to: take off limbs, start bigger fires with diable jambe, phoenix stars and flame throwers, encourage him to use gomu stretch attacks and tear himself apart, trip him into the ocean, stun him with a big enough electrical storm, use a bigger chunk of salt, blind his last eye, get inside of him and attack him from within a la Nola, or something only oda could think of.
The strawhats certainly have the potential to take the big lug out.
Edit: sorry I was too slow. I get what you're saying. The strawhats are certainly going to need to use some tricks to take odz out, but they have the muscle to keep him occupied long enough to give those tricks a chance.

I just think that they´ll give him a good fight but most certainly will not know him down since he´s a) a zombie b) powered by Luffy´s spirit and c) a legendary oversized giant warmachine. And with Norla (who´s not even in the same league as Odz) and the Buster Call we have already seen that a beat down is not the only way to win a fight. So yeah, I think an alternative solution would be the way to go but I understand where you are comming from.
Their best choice is to forget about cordination and put everything on Usopp's Impact dial before sending the sniper flying straight to Odz's face with a weak version of Coup De Vent or even Coup De Poo. Or yeah, they could attempt some useless atacks, and then hope that Usopp will counter any Gomu with his impact dial…
Anyways, do we even know if Impact Dials have a Limit? It would be kinda nasty if it broke just before Usopp got smashed by Odz's Giant fist...

Usopp's salty balls (sorry) may not be big enough for Odz, but perhaps the crew can cause Odz to fall into the sea somehow. Wouldn't that have the same effect?

I'm still not for the Perona will join movement. At best she'll get only a cover story which because of her dream.
It would be better if Abs would be actually last a lot longer. Think Sanji was just there to kick his ass, then when Nami wakes up, Abs would actually be on a fair level for Nami to have a decent fight with. So I'm still hoping he gets up for the last time for a decent fight this time.
Sure, nami runs when she feels that she has no chance of victory and is willing to let the others monopolize the big fights, but that does not make her any kind of turn coat coward like Perona is turning out to be.

Sure Nami does heroic things, but that doesn't make her different or superior than Perona. It's like people forget when she decided to let Luffy and cia in the mouth of the turtle monster in Jaya Arc or exploited Usopp to use Impact Dial in the Donut Race.
But well, Nami is the heroine while Perona is the bad guy. Why my opinion would be accurate anyway?

For some reason, Nami's pose when she electrocuted Absalom reminded me of Kill Bill. There isn't even a parallel since The Bride never used a staff weapon, nor wore her wedding dress after coming out of a coma, but somehow that's what it made me think of.

Well up until Usopp came along its fairly safe to say PErona looks like she has never suffered a loss. Its like being on a submarine and springing a leak… You'd think your fairly invincible and safe and then the water comes in suddenly, you realise your not and could drown. Perona is not different here, she is scared because Usopp frightened her, so she is panicking.
I guess with Nmi and co their so used to being weak their level of panicking isn't on the same scale.

I'm curious to see what kind of role Perona could play. It's like is she going to join what would the confrontation be like how will the strawhats respond to her being on the ship. Who from the straw hats will she see first.
She plays no role except to restock the ship. She wants to take food and treasure to the ship, and what do the SHs happen to lack? Food and treasure.
She seems like a good candidate for a cover strory.
For a setup chapter….pretty good. The money shot was obviously the last page and...I liked it. Plus it was nice to see Nami do something even if it was more comical than badass.
I don't blame Oda though. Sure he's saving the Perfect Clima Tact's abilities for later. Would be ridiculous to see all she can do with it after just 2 battles.
