I don't think anyone disagrees that putting Goku in a school is a terrible idea.
But….
Reverse rotoscoping the series is also NOT a good idea. It would be fucking terrible.
For some reason, though, the only character who actually had fun school angst was Gohan, and for him it was mostly Toei fillers and done for laughs with the "Great Saiyaman" arc. (and he was a genius who just so happened to be this super-powerful warrior who saved the world a couple times already) Having Goku doing something similar just seems wrong…not because "its not pure" but because the whole idea of Goku is that he's a pure boy uncorrupted by the real world and merely just using martial arts taught by grandpa to survive until Bulma comes along. It really shouldn't be that much of a problem to use that and then flow right in to the whole "Piccolo wants him and his Dragonball" storyline instead of just making Goku something he isn't.
A live action DBZ movie? This can either be completely awesome or the cheesiest thing ever. I need to wait on this one.

Live action adaptations terrify me, because I'm fairly certain that manga hair does NOT work in a three dimensional universe and will cause the space-time continuum to be ripped.
We probably wont have the ridiculous hair. Look at so many anime/manga to live action adaptions. They almost never keep the hair, and even when the hair is not ridiculous at all, if the actor has different hair color they leave it at that. They never dye it.
I heard they were planning a trilogy roughly based on the manga canon. Although there would be certain aspects of that that wouldn't work.
As for Goku being in school… Just no.

Dunno bout EXCELLENT, but you DO realize that movie had 90 minutes of humans and about 30 mins. of TF CGI right?

I agree, despite it being Japan born, I doubt they could handle a movie adaption. Least here we have some sort of chance.
The problem is that the Japanese would stay more true to the story, but wouldn't bother giving it the resources and budget to make it any good, while over here we have the budget but try our best to change it so as to ruin it. With no chance of collaboration, we're left with a bastard child either way you slice it.

True, but that depends on how they change it. Putting Goku in high school and having Piccolo tell him he's a Saiyan aren't good changes, and don't help the movie.

Not necessarily, take the X-Men movies for example; they killed off Sabretooth even tho he had connections to Logan's past and as such will not show up in the upcoming Wolverine movie.

If you're opposed to the idea that some people in suits just want money (which is totally true) then you might as well decry the original animation. No TV show or major motion picture was made purely on 'good will towards humankind and to show the proper respect to a certain idea'. They're designed to either get you $9.50 ($18+ if you're in Japan) or attention for 30-second ads asking you to spend more money. This is ESPECIALLY true in Japan, the Land of the Rising Trend Whore.
If you don't like the idea, that's cool. But all this rolling of eyes at the entire concept.

Toriyama wasn't drawing a comic to make the children of the world happy nor is he scowling on the way to the bank thinking about how his story (which he's forgotten) doesn't need another retelling.
Just sit back and see how it unfolds. Either it's complete shit or a way to waste about 2 hours but as far as I can tell, aside from the school nonsense, it sounds like they thought long and hard about how to portray it and of all the possibilities, it sounds like it has far more promise than I would have first given it credit for.
I just want to know what the setting will be like.

I kind of like the first Brolly movie because it was mostly Brolly ruining everyone's shit while screaming in his awesome Foxy voice.
I'm actually mixed on the Brolly character; it's enjoyable to see him rampage (perhaps a "guilty pleasure"), but he kind of seems like an embodiment of everything that went wrong with the series, as well as one of those characters that everyone clamors over for the wrong reasons.
Anyway, Movie 2 will probably always be my favorite.

I always liked Movie 1. The fights were actually somewhat interesting, and the insert songs were awesome.
I never saw movie 1 and the Garlic Jr. filler saga made sure that I'd never want to see anything associated with the character ever again
It's kind of funny how most of the movies are rehashes of the normal plot (particularly the villains and fights with them), but the same can be said for a lot of anime movies
I could never stand any of the specials though. Future Trunks and Bardock both made me want to throw up.
