About that, hasent it gone over 1 year? If I dont remember right, the Hunter Exam is held once a year. Series started with it, and then in the Greed Island arc, Killua went to take it again.
Or have I read wrong that the exam is once a year?

No, just several months. He meant on how long since we have no Leorio. Leorio left the scene at the same day Gon and Killua enter Greed Island. The time spent on Greed Island will be at most 4 months (training with Bisuke for greater than 2 months before Killua went back to the real world and return then some weeks for retraining Gon and playing tag with Gensuru). Then the ant arc should have taken lest than 3 months (1 month training with bisuke, then the actions).

current date in the hxh world it's now somewhere between august 10 and 30 (it was mentioned in chapter 320 that the first elections took place on august 8)

Absolutely stellar chapter. Leorio's reintroduction couldn't have been handled better, we even got a glimpse of his nen ability right away, which I really didn't expect. I thought it would get some foreshadowing, some general teasing and holding out, but we haven't seen him in such a long time, and it was introduced in one of the coolest ways possible, so that's alright with me. Also, Ging deserved that punch anyway, for being one of the shittiest dads ever.
I also love how apparently punching a zodiac puts you in the third place for becoming the new chairman, who saw that coming?

It doesn't mean that he can't train for emission if he wills it. Leorio is also very impatient ever since. If it is not said that he is reinforcement, I would definitely say that he is emission.

It's so odd. I mean, Leorio's reintroduction made me fully like his character. He wasn't even in my top 5 up till now. How can I not like someone that performs a teleporting uppercut on a dead beat dad and flips him off, and boosts his popularity among the Hunters? I'm more curious about his ability now. It seemed like that boxer's ability in Greed Island, but long ranged, and interacted with other surfaces.

As for Leorio's allignement it was never explicitly stated what he was, only hinted at.
But I still think he's reinforcement but heavily leaning towards the emission side. Maybe even 50/50 between reinforcement and emission.

Gon for example should be something like 95% reinforcement and 5% emission.

I don't intend to knock Togashi but a big factor of that is the fact that there are signs some people interpret as a breakaway from the annual hiatus schedule, as well as the return of one of the main characters who was quite literally gone for a decade.

Plus the story's shaping up to be really interesting too.

Oh man, oh man. That was fucking awesome. The ending of that chapter has me completely excited, especially since Leorio was a favorite character of mine. The election hadn't fully grabbed my attention between the two plots until now. They just came together beautifully. I wonder what Kurapika is doing. Great, great interaction between Leorio and Morau. That was very entertaining, after the disappointment this week's OP has been.

I suppose Leorio can be approached by Zodiacks to negotiate for his votes. He is only two votes away from Cheadle and that's serious business. Wants he or not, Leorio is in the next round to be new Chairman and his votes can make a difference (at least right now people swayed to him and not Pariston). Whether he will be voted for next time or not, will he be put in strange innuendos that will get him votes or not, either he wants to become chairman if he realizes what happened or not, right now he suddenly became very important.
And I think Ging may have had a few plans to sway people away from Pariston, and since Leorio just happened to be in the right mood at the right place, Ging provoked him into action. And it worked - the ones who were not voting earlier and were ready to vote for Pariston (or maybe Ging, who is not in the mood to be Chairman) instead voted for Leorio - a random impulsive guy who doesn't take no from no one. I don't think Ging really meant it with words "didn't hear him saying it". He knows Gon's condition and earlier said he believes in him.

Based on the recording Ging left for Gon, I think Ging expects that Gon, as his son, wants to find him on his own power - as a Hunter. Ging showing up at Gon's bedside would take that away from him.
I think Ging is right: if you asked Gon whether or not he wanted Ging to come to him, he'd definitely say no.

He believes that Gon will survive and recover - and when he does, I'm sure this grand chase will continue. But Ging won't go to Gon - it's up to Gon to find him.

One of the conditions of being on Level 4 restriction was that Killua had to be within 1 meter of Alluka at all times. If he violates that condition, per the rules of level 4 restriction he's immediately captured and returned to the Zoldyck compound and placed on level 5 restriction.

Yeah and I'm saying if the Ryodan kidnap Alluka that would change everything about the restriction rules. You think those butlers who I assume would be the ones to take him back are going to still do that while Alluka is being kidnapped? or do you think they'll take him back and then go look for Alluka? The only reason they have that condition of distance is so the current pestering don't start over and go to someone else.

Look at how many people on this board were confused by Alluka's powers and the rules, (and even gender) or what was going on in the elections, even though they were explained in depth. That kind of complexity is never going to reach all ages or be great for casual readers/viewers.

That's most likely what Ging meant. But still doesn't sit right with me. With Luffy it was only a tad different in that he had to prove that he was strong enough to make it as a pirate and could make it to Raffle, Raftle? With Gon it was weird to me because this is a little kid that was pretty much told he'll never see his dad unless he meets all these conditions. A parent shouldn't set down conditions to be with their children, it's a weird mentality lol. If he wanted Gon to just become stronger and see the world there's other ways to go about it. But Gon isn't someone that would look at it that way so he goes along with it. "Son, you aren't 1337 enough to roll with me. Lvl up first then we can talk." Quest accepted. Stories based around a son trying to be like his father are wonky lol.

I felt that Ging said it especially cold to provoke Leorio. And I saw meanings like: I don't care about Gon and really don't care whether he needs me or not. While earlier it's shown that he believes in his son, and that he knows Gon will manage to pull through, but it's a challenge of a Hunter to find father and all that stuff. That's why he did not come to Gon. But Leorio heard a cold-ass bastard and that pissed him off. I think Leorio doesn't even know about Gon's will to find his father himself. He acts like a friend not knowing this part.
tl;dr Leorio hears a cold bastard, but that is just an impression Ging is giving on purpose. And it pays off. While in reality Ging explained everything to Gon earlier in that message and gives him a choice of whether to Hunt him, or not care.

I was being hypothetical, if the Nen eraser didn't work. And did you forget that Alluka and Killua's "little sister" Kalluto was still with the Ryodan and could have told them about Alluka?

But maybe you're right, maybe that's why Kurapika hasn't gone to see Gon yet. I'm sure we'll see in the upcoming chapters. If Leorio has returned, so will Kurapika, soon.

I would really like to believe that Ging just on the spot decided to set himself in the worst light possible, and this way provoke Leorio to act and by doing so focus some support from the community on him. As long as it's opposing Pariston's goals, it works. And nothing to do with bad parenting, guilt trips and deserved punishment. At least, not directly.
