It seems to be no one from what we've seen but I wouldn't be surprised if it's Laffitte.
@Al!naJames:
Anyone who isn't given an official position already, like Laffitte :/
I thought he was the navigator?

Probably someone yet to be introduced.
Wait who's Blackbeard's musician?
BB is gonna take out the On Air Pirates, and force Scratchmen Apoo to join and be his musician.
Tapdancing is quite entertaining if you ask me
How came dancing makes one a musican anyway? :getlost:
Brook fights with a sword, but he isn't a swordsman, same as Usopp fixing the ship, but not being a shipwright and etc.
@Superbear:
I thought he was the navigator?
He IS.
If the monster trio (Luffy, Zoro, Sanji) remain the top 3 in the strawhat crew (even with possible new recruits), it makes one wonder who the 3rd highest in Blackbeard's crew would be, next to BB and Shiliew…
I'd be hard-pressed to say that Lafitte fits that bill (for Sanji) when others like Jesus (or even Vasco) seem more probable...
@Al!naJames:
I always LOVE it how nobody has any doubts about Captain vs Captain or Swordsman vs Swordsman or Sniper vs Sniper, yet hardly anybody can let brain go the same route with Navigators -__-
Geeeeez, people!
Those are all fighting roles. Navigator is not. No battle to see who is a better more powerful navigator in this type of match.
Battle of navigators is the battle of brains.
The BB Pirate equivalent to the Monster Trio by the time of their final battle probably consists of Teach, Shiryu, and whoever fights Sanji.

I'm thinking that Vasco is going to end up fighting him.

Brook is a swords man, that isn't his title on the ship but he is one.
Yeah Brook is a swordsman. Fighting effectively with a sword isn't as easy as pulling the trigger of a gun.
@Al!naJames:
Battle of navigators is the battle of brains.
Ignoring skill sets now. When people are matching swordsman with swordsman Sniper with Sniper its because these fights test each others roles. Brooke abilities are tested best against Lafitte. Not all the fights would be like this but these three match-up a bit too well to not go down like that.
Sanji is most confusing as Avalo, Catalina, and Vasco all seem like good shots.
@Superbear:
Wait who's Blackbeard's musician?
They lack the souls to enjoy or create music.

Luffy always fight the captain. Zoro always fight the swordman. Augur was shown as a good sniper, the same with Usopp, so they are perfect opponents. But, Lafitte's navigation skills didn' stand out that much.
Vasco vs Sanji. Drunken fist vs. Cooking kick!
Brooke abilities are tested best against Lafitte. Not all the fights would be like this but these three match-up a bit too well to not go down like that.
What you just said makes zero sence.
Brook is a swordsman.
Laffitte 1) didn't do ANYTHING regarding fighting yet besides pointing a gun towards marines and 2) has a flying fruit
How came this is "best matchup"? :wassat:
@Tsukishima:
But, Lafitte's navigation skills didn' stand out that much.
How can you judge his navigting skills when they weren't shown? :wassat:
^ Knock-Up stream.
I'd be willing to bet Sanji fights either Burgess or Vasco….
...whoever he doesn't end up fighting, Franky does...
Pizarro is the one who will fight Sanji, his joke about him changing roles with BB makes me think he will be the one with more ambition out of the 4 Impel Down members, also it was weird from the beginning that he wasn't mentioned by Iva and came as a bonus for the BB crew.
@Del:
Vasco vs Sanji. Drunken fist vs. Cooking kick!
thats how it will be…
Vasco and not being the third strongest of the crew..tzzhehehe when he isnt drunk he
s even stronger than BB (even when that never happens,thought)
:happy:

Considering his character, it would make more sense for him to be stronger while drunk. Kind of like Bender from Futurama has no strenghts and works badly if doesn't drink periodically.

So you really are ignoring skill sets. Both have high agility, super speed, and the ability to affect peoples senses. Disregarding all that because one of them has a sword? Not uncommon for canes to hide swords in fiction either, hell Brooke's is a cane.
He and Nami have nothing in common and the difference will grow since Nami will likely become more of a black mage/elementalist type fighter later in the series with her command over weather. Both being Navigator doesn't play into a battle at all.
How can you judge his navigting skills when they weren't shown? :wassat:
Now you're not making any sense. His skill has a navigator may not be pivotal to his character at all but simply a bone to us from Oda on who among the BB Pirates handles the job. Sure Shanks, WB, Roger, and the SN(notably Law&Killer) also have navigators among the significant members we've seen but that role is not actually relevant to their character like it is for Nami.
Why are we pretending we know anything about the Blackbeard pirates' abilities? Outside of Teach and Shiliew, we really don't the extent of their powers.
Anyways, the SHs have always been very peculiar compared to other pirate crews. I like that Blackbeard's crew is so similar, especially after 595. The Blackbeard pirates are small in number (no fodder - everyone will play a role) and have that casual atmosphere between captain and crewmates.
@Cyan:
They lack the souls to enjoy or create music.
Jokes aside I see them enjoying some fucked up depressing/dark humor music or possibly a musician that sucks balls at being a musician.
So that's Mariliyn Manson or David Hasselhoff.
We know about the amazing Sharpshooter as well Mikan

With guys as jolly as Teach, Burgress, Lafitte, Pizarro, Shot and Wolf? Not likely.
Low blow man, low blow.
I recently saw his roast, hilarious.
@S.C.:

Dark humor music that has a touch of irony revolving around fate and shit.
I'm sure they'd like that or it could be a running gag that nobody likes his music and they continue to question why he's in the crew if all his songs are about how they die.
@Tijnn.:
^ Knock-Up stream.
He was in Marijois when crew was hit by the knock-up stream :wassat:
If Laffitte already returned, the Mugiwara pirates would have ended right there.

You can not tell if Laffitte moves fast or not since nothing of the like was shown in cannon material.
All crewmembers who have special weapons, i.e. Augur (Senriku), Shiliew (katana), Doc Q (scythe) (and you can also count Devon (lance) and Pizarro (whatever he has on his arms)) used them against Newgate. And Laffitte didn't. Because he doesn't have a sword in his cane/hat/ass/whatever :getlost: That's simple logic and it's a proven fact, we haven't seen Doc Q's scythe before and Oda showed it, same would have happend to Laffitte, but it didn't, because he does not use any weapons, he's a goddamn fruit-user.
Him and Nami have alot in common, not to mention Nami's original character from Romance Dawn pilot had a flying pet and that we have no idea what kind of fruit Laffitte has.
There are only THREE known navigators in One Piece so far - it's Nami, Laffitte and Eddy from Bellamy's crew.
And comparing Mugiwara and Kurohige pirates to fleets like Newgate's / Shanks' or fodder members crews like Supernoobs is blashpemy.
Considering his character, it would make more sense for him to be stronger while drunk. Kind of like Bender from Futurama has no strenghts and works badly if doesn't drink periodically.
yup you`re right, i like that even more
Gotta love the people who complained about Teach running away from Sakazuki.
Characterization matters.

Yeah, and that's because of his personality that they are complaining. I guess they would have prefered an invincible Big Bad, that doesn't fear anyone.

I dont know if we can be so sure about that.. here [http://read.mangashare.com/One-Piece/chapter-234/page008.html](http://read.mangashare.com/One-Piece/chapter-234/page008.html) [http://read.mangashare.com/One-Piece/chapter-234/page009.html](http://read.mangashare.com/One-Piece/chapter-234/page009.html) we see him with a cane. Could be kind of a weapon like Brook has. When he uses his DF he has wings instead of arms, so it will be hard for him to use it as a weapon but we can
t say for sure he hasn`t any weapon at all.
@Cyan:

So according to this poster, if Spandam ate the Quake Quake Fruit he'd be able to casually produce the kind of quakes that split Marineford apart.
Yeah.

Seeing on how massive Pizarro's arms were during the assault on Whitebeard and then skinny, I'd say he has some limb-changing-into-weapons DF.

I can't see what kind of weapon Lafitte is using in this image. If you see it, can you tell me what it is?
He used a random katana, you can see it sticking out of Newgate on the spread where he's standing dead. Then he picked up a pistol to face marine soldiers.
My "I'm still following with American Jump" and therefore can't say much theory:
Could the Shiryuu/Shilew name be a corruption of Shiloh? (http://www.nps.gov/shil/index.htm - site of a battle in the American civil war, and a name you occasionally see people with because their parents resented having children )
@Al!naJames:

Definitely^^
sry Al!na, wasn`t reading with enough attention.
Could the Shiryuu/Shilew name be a corruption of Shiloh?
He's named after Chinese Pirate and sailor Zheng Zhilon (Tei Shiryuu)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zheng_Zhilong
his history is actually really intersting, thanks for that info al!na

You said it yourself - each crew has a navigator, but since we're only going to see them as opponents in fights, it's not something the audience has ever needed to be told before. So despite it being a crucial role, we've only seen one navigator besides Nami. It's not like we'll see their adventures navigating the New World or being cured by Doc Q. They don't even have a helm for Burgess. "Throwing a bone" is if it was put in the SBS section. But this information was put right under the names in their official introductions. I'm pretty sure their ship positions will play some role.
From what we know about him and his abilities so far, Nami fighting Laffitte isn't much of a stretch. He has a DF that has him sprout wings and fly. I can see Nami controlling the weather and throwing him off course to neutralize his attacks. He is also likely one of the most intelligent and least fight-oriented of the crew, since he was the one sent to negotiate with the WG and he stood back during the fight with Ace (unlike Auger and Burgess.) So like her, his attacks might be more intelligence-based. Laffitte was also shown to be very sneaky and skilled at getting past people when he snuck into the shichibukai meeting. He is a high profile member, but not one of the stronger fighters, much like Nami.

If Lafitte paralled Nami in the power department Teach probably wouldn't have him on his crew. The way he talked about Bonney being a weakling and having no room for them on his crew you would think any one of his memebers could rival any one of the the Super Novas. Not saying Lafitte and Nami are equal in any way, just saying Lafitte is probably a beast in his own regard.
But title or no title Brook is the one being set up to face Lafitte some day. Flight and high jumping/running up walls, hypnosis between the both of them, both shown to be associated with music in some way(everywhere Lafitte goes music notes follow him) and even the lame argument that they both carry a cane gives more credit than the navigator VS navigator argument.
Chances are someone like Catarina or another one of those nasty looking goons on the Black Beard crew will have abilities more in line with what Nami would be capable of handling, something more "energy" based rather than a head to head fighter.
So according to this poster, if Spandam ate the Quake Quake Fruit he'd be able to casually produce the kind of quakes that split Marineford apart.
Yeah.
I agree.
Obviously some fruits are stronger then others, but you really need training to fully master it.
Although I do not know this for sure I think it's safe to assume
does anyone think Roger also had yami yami fruit like BB? I always wondered why he has D in his name… maybe BB's been secretly hiding his family tree to everyone... maybe he's Roger's evil brother OR maybe there was a member(BB's older brother or father who had a grudge against Roger or not...) of unknown yonkou level organization that everyone didn't know. i don't know i just felt like writing this down... hope Mr.Oda tells us BB's dark past(maybe at the end of series???) and maybe explains his relation with Roger(sorry if it's not true...)
