Maybe X Drake didn't want to challenge Kaido when he attacked those guys in that island which was protected by Younkou. Maybe Kaido shares same values as Drake or something, and Drake attacked to Kaido's allies to show his skills/ get a Younkou's attention so he could become Kaido's subordinate/ ally. Also, when Drake was about to attack he particulary asked about that kyborg-subordinate-guy if he would get Kaido's attention by doing so.
That he did it to get in touch with Kaidou is what I believe as well. I think that now, post-TS, he'll have become famous under Kaidou's flag and is one of his more prominent lieutenants - his "Ace", if you will. I like the sound of that.
Yeah, otherwise the options would be very simple; Kaido lost to Drake or vice versa. And those options would just suck. The idea of him being a commander of Kaido's crew is great.

Drake had knowledge of what the Pacifista's were. Kaidou island was protected by a robot/cyborg and just happens to be a winter Island like Vegapunk's homeland. Think reason Drake wanted Kaidou's attention is that he is interested in advanced technology for some reason. Kaidou's favorite Island being a winter one seems a hint that maybe he and Vegapunk come from the same place.

Putting all the pieces together, it's difficult to come up with a scenario that makes sense. Dragon showing up at Goa, alone, three years after the Ohara incident to have a kid just seems too bizarre. The only conclusion I've been able to reach is that a separate incident in Goa occurred around 3-4 years after Ohara was destroyed. It was likely this incident caused Dragon to finally revolt, and also probably caused Sabo to run away from home (he'd be 6-7 at the time). The incident may have shed some light on the Ohara incident, or it could have just been the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.
I seriously struggle to come up with plausible alternatives.
Was it said somewhere that Dragon was part of the revolutionary army from the beginning? If Dragon lived in Goa, he could have had a child and after that joined the revolutionary army and became its leader. If I have forgotten something about this, please remind me.

I think Shanks got his scar after Roger's execution. It would make more sense that he was hurt while he was rising in the pirate world and being Mihawk's rival if he wanted to prove that Blackbeard is a serious threat.

It did'nt mention at what age Luffy was brought to the windmill village.(I think?) I would imagine she was killed when Luffy was a baby and then Dragon gave the child to Garp(Can't bring a baby to war I guess..) who then gave Luffy to whoever he gave Ace to(as a baby) in Windmill village - it never did say did it?

No, that's not what I'm saying at all. Olvia did not just randomly stop to have a child on her journey. I'm saying that if Dragon met her, he'd know what they were after and their stance on the ancient weapons, much like people who actually meet Robin. His outrage at their total destruction would hold weight. If that were the case, however, and it inspired him to fight back, having a baby 3 years later seems strange to me.

Don't tell me you've never heard of a girl bundled off to the country to have a kid in secret--there's plenty of time to hide someone after finding out they are pg, and of course Dragon would understand the danger to his anamorata and his progeny. He would have understood enough about it to even hide the relationship itself from everyone else. If it was a fellow revolutionary, they could easily have cooked up a fake "mission" as an excuse to bundle her off (to Windmill village, or elsewhere) until she delivered, and if she were anything like Dragon she may have demanded to be allowed to return to active duty afterwards, perhaps deliberately elsewhere from Dragon--out of loyalty to the cause or to protect the baby even further--both reasons work--but somehow she never retrurned, or she went elsewhere to further hide the relationship with Dragon and the baby. So, essentially, and with all due respect, the idea that he went off and had a kid three years after Ohara doesn't actually strike me as odd, since I sincerely doubt it was a planned pregnancy.
I think eventually we will learn that story, and I'm very curious about it. The fact that Dragon was already heavily involved in the revolution when Luffy was born does nothing more that confirm the reason Garp ended up raising him for me...

(sigh) I suppose the fact that Kuma and Ivankov were both unaware of Dragon's connection to Goa in the three brothers f/b supports this idea pretty well too. He probably met them after he started moving. I don't know why, but it never occurred to me that he'd start his revolution from his hometown. D'oh! though in my defense, given that everyone seems to leave home in this story to start their adventures, it was as reasonable as assuming that his romance had to have been encapsulated from the rest of the story.

So--to recap, since I've been stumbling over a real point here; Adventure, as you pointed out, is separated from romance in this story, and on top of that, seems like everyone who has any sort of adventure leaves home to do it (as is the habit of adventurers in most fairy tales and legends etc). Name one character of note (important, in other words) who works and lives in his hometown while having his adventure. Ain't no way Dragon started the revolution prior to Luffy's conception unless those two rules got broken, or someone else started it and he simply took over three years later, which seems unlikely at best--thus my scenarios take on a new shine, lol.

Probably people who love freedom and adventure.. as other members of Luffy's fam don't show this as much as he does. Futhermore, in myths of that area Quetzalcoatl was a mysterious dark cloaked guy with pale complexion who came and taught them stuff and another name for Quetzalcoatl is feathered serpent.. or a dragon. So Dragon would have hooked up with some chick over there and for whatever reason (maybe they were enemies of the WG, or Garp and Dragon had some agreement about raising him) Luffy was taken from there and taken to Goa. Since the story is about the New World now, Oda might have that reflect the story of pirates and governments coming to new land to conquer and colonize it. Having the main character have a stake in this would make alot of sense.. maybe leading to him "saving" them somehow and becoming sort of a hero to the people of the new world.

Ooooh. I see. Well that is certainly an interesting idea, and it fits with the way Oda does things and the timeline better than anything else suggested so far. I could see it happening that way.
I've been on the edge of my seat waiting to hear what happened to Robin over the TS and to find out who was chasing her in SA when she got back. Obviously she never chose to be their poster child, and might not wish to be seen as such, yet everything we've seen about the Revos tends to make me feel Oda wants them to be seen as sympathetic characters.

If I had to guess you can't bypass a DF with Haki when their own Haki is superior to your own. Haki is stuff like willpower, resolve, ambition etc and all these things are heavily influenced by mindset. One moment your Haki may be stronger than your opponents, the other moment it may be weaker.**
