I'm not sure what you're trying to say here maybe a typo or you left out a word. Are you trying to say Oda announced he'd be finishing OP in the next few years or it is guaranteed for the next few years?
Nope, no typo, just another way of reading what I wrote I suppose. He laid out his game plan for the next few years with 516. That's not to say he's ending the story in a few years, just now we know exactly what direction he'll be heading the next 2-3 years.
I thought that was an April Fools joke.
The joke, as I recall, was that the story would be canon. It's getting to where I can't remember my own April Fool's pranks.

I couldn't be fooled by this cuz the conflict would arise to me that if that is true wouldn't Oda have to draw the movie scenes in the manga anyway? or would there just be a stop in the manga and a note saying see movie 10 before reading next chap lol?
I always figured making movies non-canon was the smart way to go since you'd basically have to let ppl know what happened if they didn't see it.

I think one or two of these are excellent candidates for his big surprise. But writing a message in Jump? As in outside the author's page?? Hmmm…
If he takes a long break there must be a good reason. Like a mini-Oda in the oven. An extended break? That I could deal with. But I wonder if it's just that simple.
Better yet, how about Oda just mentions some special crossover he is gonna do. Or maybe even a message about the movie he is writing.

When I went searching for it, I was fondly reminded how I sold the story. A Log had just come out and it just happened to be AF and the Forum had turned to a Naruto Fan skin. I took advantage of the situation and went into complete Naruto fanboy troll mode. Then posted this as seriously as I possibly could:

It was essentially double reverse triple psychology. Some people thought it was true because I was going to great lengths to post it because it was so absurd on AF that it actually had to be true. Like when Peter Jackson announced he would direct King Kong on AF.
Strangely enough…I used that logic before. Back on AF 2004 when I broke the story about DB's new ending in the kanzenban. THAT was funny shit.

God, I really need my tranquilizer so bad.

You can't even compare this to an AF. An AF prank must adhere to a set of rules AND be released upon an audience that is willing to accept it if certain conditions are met.
This was like hearing your second best friend from middle school got killed in a traffic accident.
I mean how unsuspecting a story was it on a random Monday morning? Although I'm happy I remained wary of it and used colorful literary illustrations to describe what the scenario might mean, I'm ECSTATIC that I really have NO reason to complain when OP goes on breaks around Christmas and New Year's from now on since I already envisioned a much more horrid fate.

That's why the last two AP AF pranks have sucked, really. The Griffin one was agitated by the administrators saying "THIS IS NOT A PRANK IT'S A REAL HIJACK" and taking place 3 days before AF. The second one was lame for trying to emulate the chaos of the first. Of course a lot of people were in on it too and even if they didn't know, the behind-the-scenes machinations of FORUM SPONSORED AF had become precedent from the previous year.
I'd rather see people make up their own jokes rather than the staff prepare something. I mean, I've got a joke here in my pocket I've been meaning to pull since 2006…

It's a bit different for me because I hate almost all OP fans outside of Arlong Park and KF. I was disgusted with the news, but there was a sadistic glee in watching those "fans" grind their teeth and pull their hair.

After further investigation, the '10 week cycle' reference was made by someone else completely as a snide remark poking fun at Togashi's often on and off scheduling of Hunter, but dressed it up as to imitate a very trusted source (as if he were making the comment) and indicated Oda would take the series in a similiar direction. I clumsy mistook that as the trusted source relaying Oda's upcoming message.
What I can say for sure, Oda will have some sort of message at the end of this week's chapter, and then the series will be off the following week. Which has led to 'unfounded' speculation that Oda might be taking a longer than usual break.
Nothing of the nature of this message is known, and the break appears to be totally routine.
Sorry for this huge misunderstanding. Hope I didn't put anyone in an early grave. ORZ

BF: I don't know if what you pulled was a prank or just a 2ch misunderstanding but it nearly drove a lot of us, myself and the Jump community included, nuts. The thing is that we know Oda loves this series too much to pull this sort of thing on us, regardless of it being one of the most important mangaka in Jump history. (Togashi is that one BTW)

A statement that has nothing to do with what I originally said. Luffy doesn't become a normal human when submerged in water. He does not lose his powers. He cannot use them. Others may utilize him at their will as a rubber being.

But, Oda does deserve the vacation, hopefully he goes on his honeymoon and comes back more relaxed (he has been horny lately based on his chapters).
Either way this will be good for the popularity of OP, with loss people will appreciate it more as it returns, hopefully the restart is a strong strong chapter, like the start of the war.
