@Lobster:
I saw Tigger's big movie.
Twas' sad
We need a "Rabbit's Big Movie". That would kick @$s
Uh, do mean sad as in it made you cry? Or sad as in it was a stupid pathetic movie?
I downloaded Song of the South. Fucking awesome.
lol, I did too a few months back
it's so full of unintentional humor
Song of the South was amazing. Didn't James Baskett become the first African-American to win an academy award because of that movie. I seriously need to watch that shit again.
I always really wanted Disney to mention Hercules' thirteenth ordeal in the animated show, just because it would have been hilarious.
@Freeman-12:
So I watched Ep. 1 of Gargoyles Season 2…when was the Pack's 2nd appearance in Season 1 again?
Oh, wow, I totally forgot about Gargoyles.
Well, I think it's like the last thing that would pop up in your mind when you're talking about Mickey and the likes.
I loved the Song of the South soundtrack when I was a kid, I played it all the time. It's been a long time since I saw the movie though. I think I rented it maybe 8 years ago or so.
I'd kill for an actual DVD release. Stupid US censorship. People take things so literally. I bet schools will stop teaching about slavery in a few years too.
Until then, I guess I'll have my bootleg :p
You forgot The Fox and the Hound. I could have sworn he also worked on some other ones too, maybe on a lesser scale.
What is "The Small One"? I never heard of it.
Does We're back and ferngully count?
Thanks guys! I forgot to add those!
"The Small One" is an obscure short film that Bluth made in the 80s.
Well, going up to cashiers and getting Disney DVDs isn't a problem for me anymore.
I thought it was funny when I came home with Robin Hood on DVD on Saturday. My mom asked me what it was, and I told her, and we got into a really awkward conversation. I told her about my whole nostalgia/disney vibe I've been going through. She then asked me if it was the version where the characters were animals and said "Whatever floats your boat."
My face was so freaking red. I guess I should be glad that she doesn't know anything about furries. That probably would've made the conversation about a hundred times more embarrassing for me.
Wasnt "Song of the South" pulled from all sellers shortly after it war released?

Now read this.
I see nothing wrong with my post, Anime Master. Keep up this tone and it's THE HOLE for you!
Anyway, buying Disney DVDs should NEVER be a problem. Chicks love Disney, and if you make it semi-public that this is also the case on your end, there's a decent chance that this could end nicely for you.
for those intrested, thursday on toon disney is Cinderella III:A twist in time
today though is Stitch! the movie
for Don bluth, do the New American Tail movies count(there is now 4 of them LOL)
Actually, Bluth never animated any sequels to his movies
Speaking of Bluth, Just saw thumbelina…and I thought it was pretty damn good and funny. But perhaps that's just because the danish dub made everything seem more.....sexual. A shame it flopped.
Actually, I've seen a lot of floppers lately; The quest for camelot, Fern Gully, The Iron Giant...I love them all. And on the topic of disney, I also love treasure planet.
Treasure planet must be like the only Disney movie with a main character I didn't like at all. Long John Silver was practically what made the movie for me.

Morph.
Okay, yes, it was sickeningly cute, but shapeshifting is awesome.

then who animated Treasure in Manthattan and the mystery of the night Monster Films then?
Did anyone know Disney is going to release a movie based on the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time video game next year?

There was nothing wrong with your post. I was telling him too look at the highlighted part, since it was relevant to his question.
No disrespect was meant.
Never really been a big Disney fan, but the first 2 Aladdin's were my old favorites. Return of Jafar was the only good Disney DTV sequel I remember watchin
As for semi-new faves, Gargoyles was one of my favorite animated series of all time. Right behind the DCAU. Hated that last season tho, which is understandable give the original creator didn't work on it. Wish they'd gotten the chance to do the final season right.
@AWB:

Yes.
Jerry Bruckheimer is producing it.
Whether this is a good or a bad thing is a matter of personal opinion.
then who animated Treasure in Manthattan and the mystery of the night Monster Films then?
Koreans? Directors don't always need to return in order for sequels to be made.

Me and my bro are gonna debate about this next time we chat….

Quoted for truth. Morph was kinda fun, but for the cute mascot of the movie he didn't do much. Usually the sidekick pet things do alot more.

You're off the hook.
Regarding Return of Jafar, that movie is terrible. I remember it being awesome but after going back and watching it, ugh. Just ugh.
I've ota thing for villains, so more Jafar is only a good thing for me. Jafars song alone makes it impssible for me to dislike the movie.
Jonathan Freeman (voice) MADE Jafar. I still love that diabolical laugh he does at the end of his song in the first movie.
Disney needs to go back to its roots and use more theater actors for its movies than Hollywood stock.
@The:

Seconded. However, the third Aladdin movie was not too shabby.
Yeah, the idea of them using a star-studded cast of voice actors is attractive, but it isn't really ideal if you ask me. Unless they really fit the role to a tee, that's not really the best approach.
I noticed that Disney re-used some of their voice actors in the older movies. The one that comes to mind now is Phil Harris (Baloo in "The Jungle Book", Tom O'Malley from "The Aristocats", and Little John in Robin Hood). I'm not complaining. I think he fit all three roles perfectly.
They do that alot with their series, too. I see alot of Rob Paulson, Jim Cummings, and Tress McNellie. They're good voice actors, though.
As for the Hollywood cast members I liked. I really liked Mickey Rooney's performance as Tod from "The Fox and the Hound." It surprised me to find out that was him voicing Tod. Though for a bit, the quivery voice made me think of a younger version of Ben from Lost.
Oh, Disney used to re-use actors ALL the time. They still do, to a degree. Hey, why fix what isn't broke, right?
The irony is, the whole celebrity-voice-actor thing got its boom start from Aladdin, since they basically made the role for Robin Williams (and it's awesome). But one really has to be careful with that. It worked in Aladdin because it's Robin Williams, but sometimes it just doesn't work and the character gets overshadowed by the celebrity's personality.
Awesome tidbit: Williams also was the voice of the merchant in Aladdin's opening scene, and aside from the song, the whole thing was done unscripted. It was all the directors just letting Williams ad-lib to his pleasure.
One of my favorite Disney roles for voice acting actually was the Beast in Beauty and the Beast, done by Robby Benson (almost nobody knows who he is, now). THAT is fine voice acting.
They do reuse actors still. Look at Wallace Shawn. Rex in the Toy Story films, Bob's boss in the Incredibles, the principal in a Goofy Movie & Teacher's Pet, a small role in the Haunted Mansion…
Some actors just have voices that are innately suited to cartoon characters.
Oh, and let us not forget John Ratzenberg, Pixar's "lucky charm."
John Goodman's been popping up since some time around Monsters, Inc. (The earliest Disney movie I remember him having a role in. Are there any before that?)
I thought it was funny how Brad Bird really didn't want to put Ratzenberger in The Incredibles at first.
He should know not to mess with a lucky charm.
He should know not to mess with a lucky charm.
brad bird needs no lucky charms
and ha ha did anyone see the 101 Dalmations trailer on cartoon network? the one where they added in the fart sound effects
Probably posted here in pages 3-7 but

I must thank this thread for allowing me to rediscover my love for The Great Mouse Detective.
He should know not to mess with a lucky charm.
Well, it's not like he had a big role in the movie anyway. In fact, it was probably his smallest role in any of the Pixar movies.
I think The Great Mouse Detective should be the next movie I download from that torrent I found. All of this talk of that movie is giving me a sudden urge to watch it again. I haven't seen it since I was 7, maybe even younger. But, I remember there was a re-release in theaters I saw.
God, I wanna see Great Mouse Detective again after that clip. I NEED to add it to my DVD collection.
Y'know, since we've mentioned non-Disney animated films here, I have to ask: did anyone else here enjoy Osmosis Jones, or was it just me?
Osmosis Jones was WB. My friend in high school told me about it, and I got interested. It's underrated if you ask me.
Another think to add to Disney sequels. The only true sequel to me is The Rescuers: Down Under. From what I've heard online, alot of fans actually consider it superior to the original, though I did like it. I actually liked the first one better, despite the villain being a bit of a Cruella de Ville clone, and the inconsitency between regular eyes and beady eyes.
I thought Osmosis Jones was okay, but I don't think it's underated. But that's just me.
Anyway, yes Rescuers was indeed better than first, IMHO, but I also think Fantasia 2000 was a true Disney sequel. Other than that, yeah, I think all the other direct-to-video sequels are crap.
Oh, and now that I'm thinking about it, Rattigan't song was the only song in GMD wasn't it? Well, it was an excellent song regardless.
I've never seen the Great Mouse Detective. I should check these classics I haven't seen out.
EDIT: Osmosis Jones was O.K. I think they just could have done more with it. The show sucked major though. Why do they tend to get Phil Lamar to play the roles of Chris Tucker sometimes?

Dearest friends, dear gentlemen
Listen to my song
Life down here's been hard for you
Life has made you strong
Let me lift the mood
With my attitude
Hey, fellas
The time is right
Get ready
Tonight's the night
Boys, what you're hoping for will come true
Let me be good to you
You tough guys
You're feeling all alone
You rough guys
The best of you
sailor and bums
All of my chums
So dream on
And drink your beer
Get cozy
Your baby's here
You won't be misunderstood
Let me be good to you
Thanks Aceburner, forgot about that. I think Rattigan't song is still better
Apparently, Disney feels the need to add crude bodily humor to commercials for their DVD releases in order to get kids to buy them.
I heard about an ad for the upcoming DVD release of 101 Dalmations, and they added a fart when a horse's ass was in shot. Seriously, what's up with that?
I guess you can't market to kids without fart jokes.

ha ha yeah, i mentioned that a few posts ago. they added in all this shitty music video music too. it was a total butchering of the movie. xD It's almost false advertisement
