Many thanks for the clip!
I was never exactly sure what I expected Brooke to sound like, really.
Kind of came as a surpise, I expected him to sound a little more dead and… gentlemanly, rather than demented but I can see it working and getting used to it.
In fact it's growing on me already.
Can't wait to see the full episode now! -
Phew, okay, now that that's working for the time being:
Man!!!! What a voice! When he came in singing, it was this very high-pitched falsetto that just sounded horrid. It scared the poo out of me. But then when he started talking and acting like a total nut with that PERFECT voice, oh man.
Wait until you see the panties scene. It borders on legendary. The timing is just….
The episode all-around was a mess up until it got to the canon material. It started interesting but fell far and fast into typical filler Vaudville senseless ooc 'antics' that serve no purpose other than to waste time. For example, Luffy uses Gomu Gomu Gatling to find Usopp in octopus ink-filled water. What?
Anyway yeah, Brook is fantastic!!!!!

I always thought of him having a voice similar to this. My idea of it was a tad bit higher than this, but I blame Gear Spirit for that. I actually like this better.
Anyways, can't believe it won so hard.

The Yohoho is pretty perfect but I didn't really like the rest of his voice.

I was just making fun of how his voice would sound (assuming it would sound like Kinkotsuman)…and guess what? I mimicked it EXACTLY BEFORE HEARING IT FOR REAL >_<;
Not even close to how I imagine it sounds when I read it.

He's not as epic as I was hoping, but he still sounds pretty good. I think I wanted something a little deeper.
And when this manga closes out, and Luffy's arm stretches back to deliver that last punch, I wanna feel the crunch of the dream coming true.

I don't know how one could expect a more 'serious' voice, seeing how Brooke was always a goofy character. -

I wanted him to sound more like a Butler with a semi-serious tone of voice (it makes all of his jokes sound funny because it isn't expected).

Well, have you seen the entire episode or heard any of his deliveries for jokes? We got a seven second long clip, and the episode preview for the next episode. Doesn't sound like you've got enough room there to scream your hate yet.

YOHOHOHOHO!!It's exactly how I pictured him to laugh like a complete dumbass after those totally lame dry puns. I don't think I've ever been this happy about a voice and it seems like it will be easy to replicate in English.
The panties line he delivers deadpan (CAUSE HE ALREADY DIED ONCE YOHOHOHO) and it's absolutely perfect. Haruka was listening to it half asleep and just hearing it she woke up in a fit of laughter.

Naw, it was on ニコニコ動画. Looks like it's removed now (they had the next ep. preview as well, but that's gone too).
If it comes back up, I'll post the link. Actually, with the exception of him saying "Yohoho", I imagined his whole dialogue (before he gets on their boat) to sound the same in tone (same with the dinner dialogue and the line with Robin at the table).
I dunno…it might seem better later on, but seeing as how it's not what I wanted, I have to get used to it (it'll probably be easier than Franky because I didn't like his character almost 100 chapters and his voice for 30-40).

Brooke really does sound like the Japanese Jack Skellington! It's just as high-pitched as I pictured. The "Yohohoho!" laugh couldn't have been delivered better.

I love the lighting of Brook's ship. I was afraid that Toei was going to make it to bright. But judging from Crossbone's pics, it appears to be perfect. :)

Holy crap. You took the words right out of my mouth. Thriller Bark is also my first OP arc (when I watched episode one, I believe the Straw Hats reached Enies Lobby in the anime that week) that I'm going to go from start to finish with weekly.
Brook's voice sounds fitting for me. I like it.

I thought that Ao Kiji was the only one who approved of Viz changing it to RogueAnd as for Alabasta, I still consider it wrong, as it was only used twice early on in the background, while Arabasta is used everywhere else, including the official maps on the beginning of each chapter and episode, and on all of the One Piece merchandise.

Thriller Bark holds a special place for me as well. I started Episode 1 around May of 2006, and caught up sometime around January of '07, right when Thriller Bark started.

Hilarious episode. The way Brook suddenly changes to a "gentleman" tone when asking to see Nami's panties was damn funny. His voice is a 10/10.

Somehow I like how Brook's VA makes him so deadpan at some points (the bathroom joke) and weird at others (the panties comment). I can't wait to see how TB gets animated after this episode.
