Chapter 452: "Jigoro of the Wind" Discussion
-
-
I meant… I was making a joke... "Talleran"... Ah, forget it.
-
wtf the Spider-Monkey has my name…...
interesting
-
I always thought Saulo would still be alive, he got frozen, not killed. And it was Aokiji, our sorta bad guy, but not really good guy.
Saulo = Moria is a cool theory though. It sounds a bit too predictable though.
-
AWESOME luffy + armor = win
what if Moria is Saul, since it seems everyone but Robin is getting removed from the picture, and his betrayal at Ohara would have probably net him a huge ass bounty
That would be the dumbest plot twist I ever seen.
I remember people always brag about seeing Tom alive in Enies Lobby when he's confirmed dead, that's not new.
-
where was he confirmed dead again he got taken away in chains and thats the last we saw of him (although I do think he is dead)
-
This chapter is awesome. Luffy in armor, Franky and Robin begin to fight and seem to be the only ones left, and a giant Spider-Monkey FTW. Also, I noticed that Franky still refers to Luffy as 'Strawhat'.
-
Wow! So, maybe this is indeed the arc for the three weak ones to shine! Seems like brute strength is meaningless here!
-
Thanks once more Rockschmock for the excellent quality of your trans despite your lack of translating impulse today
So, a couple of items of note:
HAH! people do die in One Piece. A funeral in the cover story proves it. So now we know the entire cover story plot line: Androids vowed revenge on whoever was causing explosions on the moon for inadvertently killing their creator, Dr. Moonwatcher. This brings them into conflict with the Space Pirate mining operation. Enel is also mad at the Pirates for damaging his Kingdom of Fairy Vearth without asking his permission. After Enel wipes out the pirates, the androids will become his first moon worshipers and he'll live happily ever after as the God of the Moon.
I really hope this coverstory doesn't last too much longer. Now that we know what's going on it is getting tedious.
The main story line is just getting crazier and crazier. Considering that the zombies can not be killed, what do you think is the likelihood of a final scene where the Mugiwara crew has to hold off the zombie generals so that Luffy can force Moria to remove the shadow curse? I mean, if franky can not easily defeat a generic armored zombie general, then who among the strawhats is going to be able to take and keep them down?
If zoro and hitlerstache have the same moves, who will win in an inevitable fight between them? Can these guys be defeated? While the zombie generals do seem tougher than the captains and vice captains of last arc, it's really not a matter of raw power, it's a matter of endurance. Can the Mugiwara take them down faster than they can put themselves back together considering their horrible numeric disadvantage?
I don't think "spider monkeys" are a species, but a genus. But why I have a feeling I am the only person who cares about stuff like that?
Damn you… you made me look it up:
Spider monkeys are New World monkeys of the family Atelidae, subfamily Atelinae. Found in tropical forests from southern Mexico to Brazil, spider monkeys belong to the genus Ateles; the closely related woolly spider monkeys, are in the genus Brachyteles.
So it's an entire family of primates. I'm a bio-geek as well. My screen name is even the genus of my favorite invasive species.
Also, franky does call spiders insects in the chapter, so my condolences on reading the script
edit: @taleran: you're really going to have to consider a new avatar after this chapter, don't you think?
-
maybe Alucard is all kinds of badass
-
Amaaaa~zing chapter!
Luffy's caught. He's either gonna break out before getting his shadow stolen or we'll see a zombie with Luffy's personality soon (which would be hilarious, especially if it tries to do gomu gomu no [fill in the blank]).
Robin and Franky fighting a giant spider monkey. Enough said. Nice to see Robin not getting humiliated for chapters on end. Franky is hilarious as always. Gotta love the bucket frame and his "cyborg's travelling heart" song.
Zoro zombie Jigoroh/Gigolo. Perfect. Zoro kinda has the personality of a grumpy old guy anyway. Let's see what happens if PengiSanji and JigoZoro meet up.
Strawhats are pretty much backed into a corner. That means either a) we get to see them beaten up even more before making a comeback (i always enjoy the furthering of drama, oda style).
-or-
b) the comeback starts next week. Either way, i feel brooke making an appearance soon… and I have a feeling Team Usopp is destined for some greatness. Great arc. Can't wait to see it animated.
thanks for the translation as usual, rockshmock.
-
The proper spelling is Jigorou. Not gigolo.
I was hyped for this chapter but it was a let down. I wanted to see penguin Sanji in action again. Hopefully next week we get the scoops on what's really going on with the crews personalities infused with the zombies.
-
I really hope this coverstory doesn't last too much longer. Now that we know what's going on it is getting tedious.
Agree with you. Now I really want to see the next cover-story… I hope that it be starred by Foxy or CP9.
-
That spider monkey genuinely freaked me out. Who knows what Moria looks like?
-
maybe Alucard is all kinds of badass
Of course, but if Oda is going to name a character as badass as a giant spider monkey after you, then don't you think a little recognition of that is in order?
-
I think the generals think the trio are already captured, but as we know, those squiggels fluffed it last chapter.
-
WTH who was the pervert that titled this as Gigolo? It's ジゴロウ. The kanji for it, 治五郎, that's a common men's name (kinda old-sounding but still)
-
@IT'S:
That spider monkey genuinely freaked me out. Who knows what Moria looks like?
I hope he's as screwed up design wise as all the other inhabitants of Thriller Bark. I generally find Oda's Giants bland and boring, like oversized kids with down syndrome. Hopefully Moria looks scary.
-
Luffy: Hey!!! If an armor is just lying around!! Isn't it a man's romance to wear it!!?
Luffy: When you got that iron body… did you even lose that kind of heart too!?See? Luffy does have a romantic side to him. A man's romance!
PS thanks for your translation Rockschmock
-
Maybe I was wrong about "Talleran". In katakana it was タララン (tararan). Could it by "Tallaran"? It's probably a reference to tarantula spiders. But "Talleran" sounded more familiar to me..
-
The thing is, Oda still has a card up his sleeve - Brook! He hasn't appeared yet. He already had his shadow stolen so his absence is a sign he may not be captured yet. Now Luffy's gone and Robin and Franky are obivous next, that leaves the Trio alone. The Zobie penguin will most likly help them, then some point Brook shows.
-
I love the way Franky fights. He seems more aggresive then everyone else
-
oh, and i don't think saulo could be moria at all. first of all, the size of eyes. saulo had little eyes, moria's eyes are freakin' huge. plus saulo worked for the marines before betraying them, i don't think he would be a shichibukai and work in cahoots with the world gov't after what happened at ohara.
-
page 10 is cool double panel with the gen. zombles
luffy will most likly but out of the coffin by himself or with brookes help. -
I am loving this arc more and more as it goes on. Now the "big three" are actually captured!
I didn't think that Oda could make such a despairing situation so soon after Enies Lobby. Great stuff. And now we got a Giant Monkey Spider for Robin and Franky to deal with. That's gonna be great.
Judging from this new translation, it seems like there's still a chance that the 4-armed gunslinger is a "heavy hitter." For their sake I hope it's right.
-
and the fact that he wasn't even in the group that they fought
if you look at the Scans John also wasn't attack in that brawl
-
I wonder what happens if all 8 SHP disappeared and become replaced with zombies?
Oh and I thought Hogback created the zombies but it seems that zombies are formed after a person has his shadow stolen so what happens to the person after that? It'll be scaryier if all 8 SHP are turned into zombies, very Water 7 dark.
-
Dang…this chapter owned. Personally I think this is the best chapter yet! This arc just keeps getting better and better! I love the fact that so many strange enemies will appear, and god only knows what weird abilities they'll have.
Jigoroh is awesome though...his tutu thingy is priceless! lol! One piece just keeps getting better and better.
I have a little theory that I'm working on too. I'm thinking that Hogback or whoever runs Thriller Bark, expands their army by taking the strongest in a group and "zombifying" them. So basically, they want to turn the entire Straw Hat crew into zombies. Good lord I love One Piece!
-
This chapter just plainly ruled. xD
-
Yes, translation! And Rockschmock, if you don't like the avatar, you don't have to say anything.
-
I can't believe it took me until now to actually 'get' Franky's Weapons Left attack - I always thought he was shooting out everything he had left, rather than just using his left arm as a cannon…
And the robot creator's death in the coverstory was certainly unexpected.
-
My little theory,
somehow, the StrawHats "brainwashed" their clones to fight for them haha.. because this arc has too much enemies @_@ lol.. -
Small but noteworthy detail: Robin called Luffy by name all throughout the chapter. Not once did she say "Sencho-san" as she did before. Though I'm not sure it extends to the rest of the crew. Even before Enies Lobby Luffy was the only one whose name Robin used (though that was maybe three times or so between Skypeia and EL).
-
Man Jiguroh is pretty damn cool (not really refering to his appearance, which is hilarious btw), he killed 7000 pirates!! Thats crazy, he must be a really good swordsman though, maybe even rivaling Ryuuma?
Also it seems like the General Zombies that attacked Luffy and co were more of the backups? What I mean is I didnt get to see Gunslinger or Captain John in action yet.
Robin and Franky are in a really bad situation right now though. I mean Taleran (sp?) in front of them and all these General Zombies behind them. The only possible way I can think of them escaping is 1) jumping off the bridge or 2) getting saved by Brooke
-
The gunslinger wasn't even in the GZ army. And Oinkchuck said a samurai, a pirate, and a gunslinger, so it seems like the strongest ZGs are John, Ryuuman, and the gun guy.
-
I'm kind of disappointed that Jigorou uses the same attacks as Zoro (it seems), but oh well. I still like his design.
And all I remember about Saul was him being frozen by Ao Kiji. Nothing about him being taken away in chains. As far as I can remember he was frozen and left on the island that got blown to Kingdom Come.
-
Wow! Great chapter! So early too!
-
I wonder if Jigoro's shirt is an Elton John hommage?
-
Holy awesome chapters Batman!
That spider monkey is ingenious! And it looks like Luffy won't be fighting Moria anytime soon. With the Big 3 gone, I wonder if the remaining crew will have to save them first, or fight Moria's crew without them?
Either way, might be some good development for the weaker crewmembers.
-
Small but noteworthy detail: Robin called Luffy by name all throughout the chapter. Not once did she say "Sencho-san" as she did before. Though I'm not sure it extends to the rest of the crew. Even before Enies Lobby Luffy was the only one whose name Robin used (though that was maybe three times or so between Skypeia and EL).
I also noticed that Franky still calls him "mugiwara." I find it a little odd, but then again it might feel weird if he called him "Luffy" as well.
-
The whole team is really down. Maybe if Franky had a chainsaw attachment, none of this would be a problem.
-
The chapter is pretty cool. I hope it's the end of the Strawhats being captured. I want to see more Franky and Robin combinations ( you know, the oldest, and possibly most mature members of the crew). And when Luffy, Zoro and Sanji make their comeback, it's going to be freaking awesome. I'm still curious about Brook and all this shadow stuff. Cool new characters. Oda always has some of the best character designs.
-
I love how Oda is poking fun at his three main badass fighters. I mean, Sajni, the super cool guy who wears a suit 24/7 is now quite literally in a "penguin suit", and a dog faced one to boot (cause really, sanji, you dog!)
In addition to Zoro's weird haramaki, he's now wearing a sumo diaper on top of that. Note the bandages across the chest…
And the spider monkey.. pretty much needs no explanation besides being probably the funniest and most awesome thing i've seen all day. -
I think it's wierd that the spider monkey has the same name as Taleran.
-
@Impel:
I think it's wierd that the spider monkey has the same name as Taleran.
I think it's obvious Taleran is Oda.
-
I love this arc.
-
It is pretty strange that Franky still calls Luffy "Mugiwara". Great chapter though.
-
@Impel:
I think it's wierd that the spider monkey has the same name as Taleran.
I think its weird how slow you are….........:P
-
Wow we got the new chapter very fast,We got more Franky and Robin action,Luffy in a knights armor,a Spider Monkey, and all the Zombie generals are togather and i like the Elephant Cenataur and i didn't see the Gunman i think he is Gil from Wanted, and i hope Brook comes in and saves Franky and Robin
-
SPIDER MONKEY
but what really did it for me was the huge panel with the armored zombies. After seeing Franky fighting that one small version forever, these huge ones appear and it was like the best thing ever. I got chills. I thought I'd be past that kind of excitement but apparently not! Must be from reading too many spoilers. Too bad they immediately started dying so that kind of settled me down in minor disappointment. But at least they were still no match for them in the long run (at least, in their current state–-what with all the surprises and unfocused thoughts like at the mansion in Water 7).
