^ do you mean yomi yomi no mi has some awesome side-effects? i hope soo too, but cant think of something that the underworld could do…
Chapter 443 "Thriller Bark" Discussion
-
-
HOWEVER, if he DOES join, then he'll some how get his own body back, :P and become a loving black crew member.
I think he will stay a skeleton…. and get his shadow back........ which make him able to stand outside in the sun........without dusting away.....
-
Maybe he can possess other things temporarily? I doubt it, but that's the only other power i can imagine he might have due to the fruit.
So, how long until we see the flashback to a young Brook in West Blue before the island was overtaken somehow?
-
@Bumfluff:
You guys are underestimating Brookes devil fruit abilties. I mean as if he a devil fruit would have such a crap power like im allowed to be alive again. You gotta remember that according to the manga no Devil Fruit has crap powers, even the ones that sound really crap and seem like they dont do anything. For example the yami yami no mi or gravity fruit sounded really lame at first but then you find out it has awesome powers. Brooke still has tricks up his sleeve that his Devil Fruit can do.
Since when is a gravity power lame in any context? It is raw force, it sounds awesome in any way posible.
And to some people who think the shadow has any meaning, it doesn't, Brook doesn't fight with it, he didn't lose it cause he is undead, it doesn't have any special powers. It just got stolen from him, it could be stolen from any other Strawhat too.
-
And probably will too…
-
So um silly question-
Are there any considerations to change the name of the site to ThrillerPark.net? -
no, b/c its not thriller park, its thriller bark/barque
-
@Roman:
And probably will too…
And it will probably be either Luffy or Zoro, cause they will both be like:"Steal my shadow? Yeah, whatever!"
-
I really don't like the sound of "Bark" I do hope it is something else.
-
Look god bless engrish and all the endless hours of amusement it causes, but we are honor bound to compensate and extract meaning from it. Park is okay, its a location, Barque is acceptable its a ship, Berg is good too, its a castle, Bark is not its a sound a dog makes.
So please choose one that is not bark. Slavish adherence gains nothing but adherence.
-

That would be unfulfilling and un one piece-ish.
If he DOES join I'd really like himto get his body back to 100%. :/ I mean it would become so annoying with all the bone jokes, plus Brooke seems too hyper like franky, ussop, and luffy. :/ I just believe there's something more then meets the eye to brooke. and although he's a good guy in this arc, maybe he did something bad in the past and that action cause him to lget his shadow taken from him and for him to be trapped in the florian for ever.
-

I don't think him staying a skeleton would be "un One piece-ish". Its just what he is and how his DF works, him getting his body back would make it fell stupid, everyone carries a burden in live, and that is his burden for the second life. And he wouldn't fell like the same character anymore if he gets his body back.

1st of all, brook is a skeleton, his body perished long time ago, and being just bones is what makes him unique, funny and all that!! imagine a person with facial reactions being a pervert compared to a skeleton being a pervert..
-
You know, he asks to see their underwear, but not them actually wearing the underwear. He could just look and their draws in a drawer.
-

ha ha that was good. :P

Did some one say sanji x 3?
-
Yeah, with Sanji it's more obvious as to how he's reacting.
-
SO who do you think will go to the island with luffy? Cause it's obvious you can't leave the ship alone, whith the gate thing and all. And do you think Ussop will stay or go with luffy?
-
They're all gonna go, of course.
-
Hmmm, I was thinking, maybe we could call the island Thrillervark or Thrillervarque or something like that. On second thought, that's about as stupid as Thrillerbark
-
difference between sanji and brooke (in perviness):
if nami would show her breasts in front of them, sanji would die of happiness but brooke would just be more interestedi want usopp, franky and robin to go with luffy.
they need to have more badass timesadly, usopp would never do that
-
Franky will go, he already likes Brook. That's what I think.
It's also possible that no one will go, but that they will be captured by the ghosts or something. There still is this ghost on board.
-
^ yes franky and brooke will be pals to death
lol
-
Brooke: "Could I see your underwear?"
Franky: "Um, you can see it right now."
Brooke: "Hot." -
If anyone stays with the ship, I see it being Nami and Sanji. Luffy is obviously going, Franky's needs to do some showing off, Robin+Usopp need a fight, Zoro needs a sword (Although this could wait) and I can't see Chopper left alone with Ghosts and such around.
-

Zoro should stay alone. He's so calm about those stuff. And he has that scene with the sharp "…..." after they discovered Brooke has no shadow.
Plus I smell something fishy about Gyojin Island and Zoro's third sword [worst pun ever, but I couldn't help it].Usopp would never go though. They need to get caught or have a motive for quick decision, which mean Usopp goes and Zoro stays.
Zoro sleeps all along
All back in a haste, waking up Zoro
All: Zoro! We need to go! And fast! This -blablastoryplotblabla-!
Zoro: Yeah, I suspected that..
All: THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US?! -
Of the options, Thrillerberg sounds the best to me. The old world castle look, the scary dead trees and lack of dogs or sails all seem to put berg ahead of park, bark or barque.
I'm I the only one seeing castlevania references? The old castle in fog, the undead, all of the weird machinery which inevitably leads to annoying jumping puzzles.
Also, I believe we can expect either zombies or some other form of undead on the island. The flashback showed that the other shadowless person being fried by sunlight was not a ghost or skeleton and brooke keeps saying how he hasn't seen livings in decades.
-
Maybe we'll even see a Nemesis look-alike.
"STRAAAW…STRAAAAW...."
-
I doubt we will. It'll probably be some undead pirate who, like Brooke, acts like a steriotypical pirate.
-
How about a vampire villian, they are my favourite undead.
-
If Brook doesn't join, I will be very upset. A character who is funny and tactless, yet not an idiot nor asshole. Don't break my heart Oda!
And so refreshing to see such an honest display of perversion. None of this slobbery Sanji mellorine caviar bullshit. Just a dignified 'Show me your panties', straight to the point. Chapeau to you Brook!
What on earth is Robin wearing?
-
I want the next chapter NOW!
Thrillerberg sounds nicer than Thriller Bark….....
:)
And who here is betting like hell that Brook joins at the end of this arc?
-
^no need to bet, i think he will join for sure
-

See, you may be setting yourself for disappointment here. At least be open to the alternative.
Now, I kid of want Brooke to join, but there are things about him that make me worry. For one, how does a skeleton fight? It doesn't seem like he should die. Of course, a skeleton can get "disabled" in many ways, so maybe that's not an issue.
Also, and while this was been said before, I don't see him "with the crew." I mean in cover shots and stuff. The same was said for Franky but…Brooke's a skeleton.
Of course, it's possible that his face will change too. I mean, by the nature of his fruit it seems like it's possible for him to change bodies. Maybe. It's just seems like with him on board, the series will be changed forever--to a horror/halloween theme.
-

I don`t think so. Zombies/undead are very common in pirates histories. =)
Actually, I was especting this since Gaimon's talking. -
Meh So having a skeleton on board instantly will change it to a a horror series? What?? The only thing "creepy" about him is that he's a skeleton. Thats it.
-
I'm still curious as to how he will fight. It's obvious he will use his light body, but how? And can he be like Buggy and seperate?
-
@Hyper:

QFT. It seems like people are just weirded out to see a skeleton be acting in such a manner. I admit, I was taken aback by Franky, what with him being a cyborg with such an attitude. Now, I love the guy. With Brooke it was the same initial reaction, but this chapter made me think otherwise.
-
Well, we've kind gotten used to Brooke by now, so he's not really creepy. If I was suddenly on the TS and I saw Brooke surrounded by the SHs, I would think he was really cool/funny.
-
Not all of us are on board about Brooke; Onemoment proves that. And I know I've seen some other nay-sayers in this thread. Probably because it's only been two chapters since we've seen him.
-

That's like saying that when Franky joined, One Piece forever became a gay porn story.

Uh. Nobody expects Brooke to join just like that. At least half a year [4 months min] is gonna waste on this thing. We'll get used to him, we'll love him even more. Franky became much more a SH after EL than after Water7.
-
It already was a gay porn story even before that huge barechested man in speedos joined.
About Brook, I'm conflicted: I kinda want him to get his old human appearance back, as I can't really see a skeleton fitting in all the colorspreads and scenes representing the crew, plus I really want to know how he looked like, but on the other hand the fact he's a skeleton is a big part of his awesomeness.
-

Actually, I'm more worried about new comers to the story.
-
Thing is, besides Luffy and other diiots, people are gonna be like "what the fuck they have a skeleton."
-
I don't think we will ever find out what he looked like when he first lived. If Oda wanted us to know, he could have drawn a Brook-like ghost instead of just the soul searching for its body in the panels where Brook's telling his story.
He is and will always be in this form. That's what makes him unique and perfect for the Strawhats. -
^ agree
giving him his original body will take away a part of his awesomeness and uniqueness

Burg means castle, Berg means mountain. What else do you think sunk the Titanic? And bark is also a part of a tree, mind you.
Berg would be cool imo, but wouldn't that be "ベルク"? I searched for "バーク" in Japanese Wikipedia and the most entries popping up were about historical persons whose last names were "Burke".
So I looked up Burke:burke
- Irish (of Anglo-Norman origin): habitational name from Burgh in Suffolk, England. This is named with Old English burh ‘fortification’, ‘fortified manor’.
- Norwegian: Americanized form of Børke, a habitational name from any of eight farms in southeastern Norway, named with Old Norse birki ‘birch wood’.
- German: variant of Burk.

Since we're talking about a pirate story which is set on the open sea, it might be "barque" after all. -
@Janken:

Young Cutty Flam actually looks like a Clean shaven Paulie that doesn't smoke… and wears a speedo. When I first saw the flashback while randomly flipping through chapters, I thought it WAS a young Paulie.
I wouldn't mind seeing how Brooke looked in life; we saw how everyone else looked in their youth. But I don't want him to go back to being that way.
-
But Paulie never tried stopping a moving train with his bare hands.
That wuss.
