A thread for the character of Jewelry Bonney. I could see her eventually backing away from her grudge against Vegapunk and grow to the point of helping Dragon in the event Vegapunk goes back to him. Bonney helping continue her father’s legacy would perhaps make the most sense seeing as how Kuma is pretty much mentally out of commission, but what do you guys think?

Rescue her crew?

I feel like it's really way too soon to say with any confidence. What we learn from Kuma's memories will probably set her course, but she might not be able to get straight at it with Cipher Pol and Borsalino's siege making the Sunny the only way off the island, she might be limited in when and how she can pursue her new goal. There's too many ways it could all play out from this point.

I think Luffy, Robin, and Usopp would be willing enough to make visiting Dragon their biggest priority in case that’s what Vegapunk and Bonney end up wanting. Luffy in particular would prob be more thankful to Bonney after she tells him what she knows of Sabo and Vivi.

@electricmastro Personally, I don't see Luffy putting much of anything ahead of the final Poneglyph and the One Piece from this stage. He's never shown all that much interest in his dad, and we've just recently had a scene showing that he trusts Vivi to solve her own problems, with Sabo being even more capable.
That's not to say Oda couldn't tie those plot threads together, say that Saul passed on his Void Century research to Dragon or some such, but I'm not seeing it yet.

I mean, Luffy has always been about the journey and not just the destination, no? If he's willing enough to take Vegapunk along, then I would think he's in no real rush.

There's obviously a lot that can still happen in this arc; but I'm leaning on seeing Bonney moving after this arc and deciding to go rescue her old crew, wherever they may be. Much like how Law had barely considered his future past revenge on Doflamingo, I don't see Bonney as having thought of anything past this confrontation with VP/saving her dad. With that resolution ended, she'll have the self-reflection moment to decide to move on and return to her crew. Maybe they're in Impel Down and Bonney's actually gonna go be the one to cause the big extra breakout that destroys the jail that many of us expect to happen.

I figure if rescuing her crew was of that much priority, she would have mentioned it more at least when Jinbe mentioned them to her. Seeing as how she’s already getting emotionally impacted by Kuma’s story, the deciding factor might very well be what she’d want to do to make up for Kuma’s lost years as a regular human.
-
I’m still hoping she might join, she has a sad backstory incoming and Luffy already calls her by her name, plus it would be cool to have another female character on the crew, one who is more like one of the boys
Probably won’t happen but who knows
-
Looks like Bonney will be escaping with Luffy.
-
Given that we don't know her past and especially the "task/role" she was playing for the WG it's too early to tell. If it was something really important (it seems that way) she could become an ally of the SH along with Vegapunk...
-
Reunited with her somehow healed dad would be my guess.
Joining the final arc with him later.

Did she have some task or role with the WG? I thought they would just be worried that her connection to Kuma would stir up trouble, but now it's a non-issue. Unless I forgot something.

First of all, I am intrigued by Bonney because she is the first character in the entire series that has somehow earned mercy from the World Government/Celestial Dragon.
Seriously, the dude just ordered civilian ships destroyed, "just in case"(im assuming there are children in those fleeing ships). But somehow, he gives Bonney a "pass?"
As for what she does after Egghead, I think she will devote her life to either taking care of her dad or inheriting his will and joining the revolutionaries. I think this means that she will seek out the revolutionaries after egghead. They are her best bet at getting her dad back.

A lady who acts like one of the boys also interests me, which is why Yamato interested me. Nami and Robin always seemed grouped together away from Luffy and the others as far as fun recreation goes, so Bonney being there to potentially change things up is something I’m up for.

what makes you think Bonney wouldn't be feminine?
-
she will be the kinemon/momo/princess vivi of this saga
-
I imagine she will go with Vegapunk to the Okama island.

Her entire demeanor and everything we’ve seen about her so far
She very much seems like one of the guys

If you mean how Bonney wouldn't be into things like make-up and dresses like Nami and would be more willing to be into things like sumo wrestling, then that along with her overall attitude gives me that feeling.

And that’s something I really like about her. She’s a lady who doesn’t really seem to care to be ladylike, but still manages to have a fun, charming appeal about her that I think compliments Luffy’s personality quite a bit.

She’d be an amazing addition to the crew for that reason, kind of why I wanted Yamato to join

TVTropes calls her a "Lad-ette", which is a trope I've grown to like actually.
-
Well, looks like Bonney is getting along with more of the crew, like Sanji.
-
That one comment Luffy made about how she seems more cheerful all of a sudden makes me think this is actually Devon using her powers.

Devon would have to know about Bonney having pizzas as her favorite food and her desire to kill Vegapunk then. If Bonney has been kidnapped by Blackbeard Pirates, then I guess we'd be in for some more princess rescue chapters. lol
-
Sometimes the simple answer... is the answer. Bonney being cheerful just means she is over what happened to her father! She supposedly cried about it all night. I wonder what her goal is now...

She seems to be intending on escaping with Luffy now that she gave up killing Vegapunk and go somewhere. Maybe she's also trying to go to Elbaf. Maybe it's somewhere else.
-
Bonney has given up on killing Vegapunk in favor of targeting someone else. I wonder what motivated her to change her mind.
-
bonney's probably happy because Kuma's consciousness is stored somewhere. this is just me lazyposting that the kuma is in the robot theory might actually be right even if there are some points that says that it's wrong but there's really no way she got over Kuma's death or was shown the confirmation of it and be in the mood she is right now.
Kuma is stored somewhere. Also, I just wanted to say does it suck or what to have the only female supernova on its way to be another companion piece/princess/damsel in distress. I didn't think of it but when I thought it I was like man, come on.

On the other hand, maybe Kuma getting attacked the way he did by Sakazuki is set-up for him to be slowly dying and may end up going to Egghead as his final resting place, dying in front of Bonney as a result.
I think such a tragedy wouldn't make Bonney out to be some damsel in distress, but motivate her to accomplish some grander goal.
-
I don't know but if this is to parallel Shanbondy then that "Kuma" turning up will be the turning point of the arc too.
I also don't really think she can be in the mood she is in right now if whatever she learnt was that oh basically nothing changed and his mind is still imprisoned and was a slave of the celestial dragons but hey at least his free now, right? I mean if that were the case, she would still want to take it out on Vegapunk. So I'm pretty sure she received news that her father is safe somehow (for now) and her target is whoever masterminded all this.

Can’t wait to see Luffy taking Bonney out to the freedom of the sea.

She still needs training, but I think Bonney is getting better as a fighter.

The ability to use Gear 5 at this point, even for a few seconds and even if it's half as potent as Luffy, makes her pretty powerful. Between that and the ability to control certain Seraphim she has a lot of power right now.
