@wjbraden wait so France is only like 10 or so episodes behind Japan?

I got Collection 31 today, I finally can continued the dub after waiting 7 months since Collection 30 came out. So far I watched the entire Sliver Mine filler arc, and the first couple episodes of Zou. For the Sliver Mine arc, I really enjoyed the dub for the arc, and I'm probably one of the people that enjoyed the arc when it originally aired. I like Kira Buckland's performance as Desire during the arc.
For the first couple episodes of Zou, I'm already enjoying the dub voices for Weevil, Ms. Buckin, Wanda, and Carrot. The dub did the entire Ryunosuke gag perfectly, especially Robin's reaction.
-
I finished up the Season 12, Voyage 1 portion of Collection 31. Since Jack had a brief appearance at the end of Season 11 and more of appearance on this set I can finally talk about my opinion of the dub voice. I really like the dub voice of Jack, it really fits the character really well. Dogstorm and Shishilian's dub voices are really good as well. I'm continuing liking the dub voices for Carrot and Wanda as they both were in the main focus during these early episodes of Zou.
-
@AceLuffy4ever Yep. Others are even closer though. Taiwan, Korea and Thailand all do simuldubs (only a couple episodes behind Japan).
-
When Crunchyroll eventually simuldub, I'll quit the sub. I only ever watched the sub, as I felt the dub would always be years behind. Glad to be wrong.

Same. I was sure we would always be 400 episodes behind the sub. I'm about to start the Wano dub (just finished WCI), so I think I'll drop the sub when Wano is over (though I really wanna see the current arc animated too)
-
@Luffy_80 Im with you, once the dub is able to be at least one month behind the sub then i will have no reason to tune into the sub anymore, im hoping by next year around this time its a reality

One Piece s13v1 and Film Red on home video July:
https://www.rightstufanime.com/One-Piece-Season-13-Part-1-Blu-ray-DVD
https://www.rightstufanime.com/One-Piece-Film-Red-Movie-Blu-ray
Also, the special features for Film Red list Episodes 1029, 1030, and the 8th recap episode
-
No LE? Bummer. Good to see WCI coming to bluray, though. The cover for it is cute; kind of whatever.
I used to buy these on the funimation store. There was a discount because I was a member, but when I switch to CR, they didn't really offer the same discount. So now I just wait for the blurays to build up and become cheaper before I buy. Kind of a bummer. Wish CR store would offer a 15-20% discount to subscribers.
-
Woah! Just noticed the special features for Film Red. The two filler episodes, plus a recap episode are included! No special features for the WCI set, though.
https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Episode_1029
https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Episode_1030
https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/The_Legendary_Log!_Red-Haired_Shanks!Will these be still included in the episode count when that set releases on Microsoft? And will these episodes be dubbed and released before that set releases on Microsoft? I think so.
-
Wow very surprising all around!
I really thought the Season 13 Voyage 1 would feature something similar to manga volume 83's cover, but oh well.
Including the Uta filler is super interesting, I wonder if they will skip them on the Wano set releases
-
Oh yeah that is surprising! Honestly seems like a better release method for the movie tie ins, single movie blu rays are usually kindve over priced for what they are, and that’s often going to be the only context you want to watch them. Although to be fair the film red tie ins are much more enjoyable than those previous I think most can agree. I’m also guessing that means we’re getting the recaps dubbed probably? I doubt they’ll be skipped over in the voyage release though. Having 2 less new episodes will be kindve a bummer but hard to complain too much with the current pace.
Weird having manga art for a movie cover. Not that it’s bad or anything Odas art is great, it’s just usually the covers are more accurate to the look of the show and movies. I know it says “art not final” but their covers always do and that’s the same art used for the JP release. Probably a toei decision.
-
I finished Collection 31. I will say that I really enjoyed the dub voices for both Cat Viper, Pedro, and Raizo. I thought the dub did a great job on the big Sanji reveal stuff as well. Hopefully, we won't have another seven month wait between collections this time around for Collection 32.
-
I like the art for S13 V1.
-
Its crazy to see if we were still depending on sets for episodes we would only be starting wholecake in July smh
-
Apparently also included is a “special embossed o-card”?
Also weird is that the CR site doesn’t even have s12v1 listed at all, let alone out of stock. Weird.
-
@Zephray Well guess that answers my question about them dubbing those recap episodes. Yeah I wonder if these will be included in the Voyages down the road or not.
Also curious if they'll be able to dub Kid Uta's songs (would lol if it's still off-limits).
-
Yeah, I'm surprised to see the bonus episodes included for once, particularly as Japan gave them their own stand-alone release, but glad to see it as the release will feel much more complete with them bundled in. Though I guess CR is already dubbing that "season" anyway...
I'll still hold out to see if Anime Limited have anything up their sleeve for Film Red.

They're still sung by Ado (and on the Uta's Songs CD, I think??), so I assume the same rules would apply.
-
I feel like if Amalee dubbed the songs for this, we would’ve heard about it when this Blu-ray was announced.
Anyone watch the new set yet? Looking forward to hearing all the Queen and BM antics. No new voices though. Next set, I’ll be jumping ahead of my rationing schedule to watch the Ishitani and flashback eps I’m so hyped for.
-
Yeah, it’s fun! All the performances are good just kind’ve a slower section of the arc, not much new to talk about. Anthony Bowling does well as Kawamatsu.
-
I'm checking out a couple episodes sub on Collection 31. Starting with Episode 753, its the new narrator recap. Since no one mention about it The subs on the blurays now have Raftel as the current name Laugh Tale. Unlike the simulcast version have it as Raftel, which these episodes came out a couple years before Stampede came out.
-
Is there a way to watch the One Piece x DragonBall X Toriko special ?
-
It up on the adult swim website and app currently.
-
And people said there was no upside to Toonami airing One Piece anymore!
-
My only complaint is that the physical releases slowed down
-
@Captain-Krupp Yeah, but it'd be nice if it was more widely accessible (not everyone is a boomer like me and still has cable lol). Also looks like it's expiring off Adult Swim's site next month, wonder where it's going to be available after that. https://www.adultswim.com/videos/one-piece/historys-strongest-collaboration-vs-glutton-of-the-sea
-
Would’ve been a good special feature for the movie. Maybe they can release it with another backlog movie in the future.
Man, I hope they come out with voyages six and seven within a week of each other. Would love to get the whole flashback at once. I’m so damn hyped to have those episodes dubbed. …and I’ll be in Japan in May while some of those special episodes are released. So hyped.
-
Wasnt this crossover special supposed to be a two parter, i felt like i was missing something and i also wanted to see Zoro and Vegeta interact
-
@AceLuffy4ever Yes, it was two parts, but they only dubbed the second half (which was episode 590 of OP, the first half was Toriko ep 99 which will probably never be dubbed unless they somehow decide to resume dubbing the show again). Blame Toei for splitting up a special like that basically lol.
-
A small part of me was scared the episodes wouldn’t be dubbed for some reason, but it lists english audio in the specs.
-
Surprised to see that it's two discs and, apparently, region B for once. Pretty sure its rare for Funi to have alternate artwork on the sleeve and slipcover, but that's always nice to have.
There's also no DVD this time, at all? That's new.
-
$25 seems a little steep for just a movie these days...any ideas if/when they'll run a better deal? I haven't bought a physical release in several years now.
-
Plus shipping and taxes, try closer to $35. Oof. Would be waiting for a deal if this didn't have those three new episodes on it.
-
@Blake-Bakes-Cakes said in Funimation DVD Discussion IV (Please Check First Post for FAQ):
Got an interesting response from Anthony
That is interesting...so while dubbing in the 950s in January, they jumped ahead to 1029 or so for the Film: Red tie-in episodes for the sake of the Blu-ray extras.
Also kinda sorta gives us an indication of how soon after dubbing the episodes get released?
-
Yeah, I thought they were usually three months ahead, but that estimate would put them at five months ahead. Whew. They could afford to do another one-week drop, and the flashback would be the best time to do it. I’m praying.
-
One thing that has me intrigued is now that the dub is catching up to the sub, will we finally get a pirate warriors game that is dubbed?
-
Doubt it, rarity for any anime game outside of dragon ball to get dubbed nowadays. Was never exclusively a one piece issue, even if the amount of uncasted characters didn’t help.
-
Is Izou even in the episodes we have? Don't think so.
-
Yeah, doesn’t appear again until 963.
-
My heart warms when I see trans actors and actresses on One Piece.
-
@Zephray there was the brief flashback with Yasu giving Blond-emon and the rest of the rapscallion samurai a bunch of money and Izo was there. They didn’t have an individual line but a unison group line. Still counts.
Also Jessie was previously Wanze, Pork (Film Gold) and Limejuice (Film Red).
-
@Blake-Bakes-Cakes said in Funimation DVD Discussion IV (Please Check First Post for FAQ):
We know who Izou was cast as, or recast as. Original VA only did like additional voices and hasn’t really done anything in years as he previously only had a few lines of dialougue
I didn't even know she transitioned! Good for her.
Like the first role that came to mind was...the MC of High School DxD?
-
I figured Toei would object. Oh well. At least I can still hear AmaLee's versions.
-
Weren’t One Piece ratings good with the 4Kids dub, on Fox and or Toonami?
-
On Fox it had a terrific premiere, with 1.8 in the demographic which then gradually decayed massively, when not only fans caught wind that 4kids betrayed them and didnt actually make the respectful dub they promised, but kids didnt like it either. Then it got on Toonami and the 4kids dub actually got quite the boost! In many demographics, it was actually a hit! But then for some reason (I actually made a thread about this) Funimation got it and it got cancelled. I saw the ratings with my very own eyes on Anime Superhero which is sadly down. I know that as a journalism student without sources I might as well be lying but I swear I am telling the truth.
Oh and if you are curious about Funimation for kids Toonami there are NO ratings but there are for the Adult Swim run. I blame the first cancellation of One Piece on Adult Swim on Jason DeMarco who outright REFUSES to skip filler. Which is good and all but he didnt skip the Straw Hat Recap eps (The recaps that aired in Japan right after Robin said I WANT TO LIVE which murdered the momentum of the show) which almost killed One Piece in Japan already. The moron should have just skipped those episodes.
