This year's Marvel Voices: Pride will introduce a new trans mutant called Escapade: https://www.marvel.com/articles/comics/marvels-voices-pride-1-mutant-trans-hero-escapade-debut
Hello is this the design team? April o'neil called and wants her 'everything' back.
The mutant abilities cool though. It looks like an element of reality warping, which means they have unlimited potential, though this will be really tough to write.

Big Weekly X:
! X-Force: To Quentin, that's fucked up. More than the sentient Cerebro eating brains.
! X-men Red:Yeah, not like what they doing with Brand. But i guess they needed a triple agent to mess a straight up confrontation between Krakoa and Orchis.
! Wolverine: Please lead Wade back in the X-Force. I think both the book and Deadpool have to gain with it.
! New Mutants: Oh this is good. Very good.
! Immortal: Nice going Hope. -
The Flash #782:
! I just absolutely love seeing Wally hanging out with his family. [Wall]Ace has such a nice straight-man dynamic with Wally, too! I don't have any prior experience with Ace but these past two issues have definitely solidified him in my mind as a worthy Kid Flash for Wally, especially since they're cousins with an age gap. I'm glad that Ace wasn't thrown to the side when Wally was brought back because they've definitely nailed it in adding him to the greater Flash Family. Once Ace gets a better tenure as Kid Flash with Wally I'd love to see Irey step into the role again. That's a dynamic I would love to see more of. She's so cute and spunky! I'm also hoping that we get to see Linda finally tell Wally about her powers and then see them get some time to interact more fully.

Still no weekly X afer all this time but I can tell ya that the new crossover gonna suck.

Collecting all the bad tweets of the X-Men TAS showrunner... showing he has not even read the comics he despises (imagine if any other director just went off on the source material and its creators like this... but TAS is the sacred cow)
"I love Emma Frost, I just don’t feel she’s Scott’s OTL. Keep in mind, their relationship turned Scott in a radical leader that eventually killed Xavier."
"Let’s do this. Emma’s influence over Scott and making him hard headed and more reckless lead to a situation where he was at odds with the Avengers and thus what happened. Jean got possessed saving her team and then the galaxy."
"I agree with you on Krokoa. It’s an “odd” take on mutants that’s left me uncomfortable about what it’s trying to say."
"I miss reading mutants I looked up too"
"The X-Men have become a sort of death cult where the Quiet Council sends disposable soldiers on suicide missions. It’s weird."
-
Christ they come from a single twitter thread. That's bonkers.
Also the Zealot Cyke-was-right fan is also weird as hell. -

Weekly X: Let's pretend there no dumb Crossover event going on till November.

Two questions, are the new Shang Chi comics any good? And do I need to read reign of x in a specific order, or can I just go through the order they have on the marvel unlimited app, they list them by series, from start to finish, then on to another series after that and so on, but I don’t know if I should be reading them that way or in the order they were released, by dates, which they have listed on the wiki page for it

Can someone help me out? I've been trying and trying to find this certain comic of Superman, where he retires? I think?
I have a spesific image in my head where Clark Kent is working on a construction site (or maybe in a farm??) and he tells to the reader (maybe?) that the reason he retired Superman is that the world doesn't need him and he got too arrogant or something.Sorry this is all very vague. I've been trying to google it for the whole day and have come up with nothing and it's such a clear memory I have.
When I found Alan Moore's Whatever Happened To The Man of Tomorrow I got my hopes up but it wasn't that either. I'm pretty sure the story is from like the 70s or the 80s.
Edit: nevermind, I'm pretty sure that it was Whatever Happened To The Man of Tomorrow, I just remembered it... wrong.

@FatDogForMidTerms
It sounds like "Kingdom come" comic where Diana finds old cark working at repairing a barn and generally doing farm work. And he mentions the world rejected him. -
What do you guys think of Judgment Day so far
-
@pariston_hill It has gotten quite ridiculous lol, there's far to many of them I'll agree
-
@Shiebs And on the current Marvel printing I'm only reading the X titles...and Ms. Marvel whatever it's released now.
-
I’m behind on comics. Both my favs have been neutered so there’s no incentive for me to keep up to date.

Stan Sakai is going back to Dark Horse with Usagi Yojimbo and a new imprint of his own.
https://smashpages.net/2022/09/07/stan-sakai-returns-to-dark-horse-to-spearhead-a-new-imprint/
This along with the spinoff show and a few other things from the IDW run makes me think Stan is looking towards keeping the series going even after he's no longer working on it. At the very least, I hope this brings an end to "blink-and-you'll-miss-them" print runs for collections and used copies going for quadruple their original price as a result.
-
Into the 70s now with my read-through of DC comics and it's so cool that comics can finally have death and actual drama in them again. And Neal Adams is an absolute godsend, one of best artists DC ever had.

Weekly X

If Amazing Spider-Man keeps going at its current level of quality, Zeb Wells might book one of the worst Spider-Man runs to his name. Which is quite a feat because most Spider-Man runs are bad (I realized I never wrote part 2 of my Spider-Man retrospective where I was going to drop some seriously hot takes).

@JulieYBM I think X-Terminators #1 might be right up your alley.

Just checked it out. They had me at cute girl in a dress and twin-tails saying "You dumb bitches" and "You look like if Barbie were a sex addict". Boom-Boom is literally me.

God I hate every single thing about this event.
Weekly X for what matters:
-
Would you believe I wrote my last post BEFORE getting to the part where my favorite word of all time was used in a sentence in an actual, official, Disney-printed comic?
"Boom-Boom, you look like the final stop on a bimbofication spectrum."
"Ooh, even better."

I was wondering if you guys could tell me which Marvel events/series are worth reading from the 2010’s I was always pretty up to date until 2010 and then I fell of the ball, I’ve read some stuff, like Hickman’s run on avengers and x-men, secret wars, into the spider verse, and unfortunately Civil War 2 and some other stuff, but I’m probably missing a whole bunch of good stuff to read, so let me know if you have any good recommendations

Weekly X

Looks like they're going to be giving Jay Garrick a daughter, who might just wind up being his sidekick? This should be interesting.
-
I'm not updating Weekly X as frequently because work ain't giving the time to usually read them on wednesday but...
BEAST holly fuck. That's really really fucked up. -
The New Golden Age was pretty good. It really reminds me of how much I wish the JSA got more focus on a regular basis and how the monthly format in general isn't doing DC any good. With The Flash going two issues a month I hope that's successful enough for more titles to do the same.
-
@pariston_hill said in Western Comics thread:

They have to eventually reveal this is actually the AoA Dark Beast, right? Right?
-
@Robby I...dunno. They already did Dark Beast like what, a decade ago? I think that the will follow McCoy is becoming a worse and worse person since the Claremont era.
-
Do you have any idea how many times they've had fake Jean Greys or fake Magnetos in order to cover over character assassination? Or how many times they've just killed a character then brought them back so they can have a redemption to forgive them of whatever stupid thing they did?
Evil twin or skrull or time travel duplicate or clone body whatever, they'll eventually undo this. it ay not be the current writer's plan, but it will almost certainly be how the next one undoes it.
They did that a decade ago" just means its been long enough most of the current audience never saw it and its okay to repeat now. And its actually been like TWO decades since dark beast impersonated regular beast, so, extra safe to do now
There is zero chance Nightcrawler keeps those stupid horns long term.
-
Oh they horns I expect to be gone by the end of it's current plot of magical mutations. And I'm aware of how cyclic comics tend to be, it don't change my opinion that it's lazy.

Yo @JulieYBM Wayne Family is back.

Oh, yes, I forgot to mention, I have been keeping up with the new season of chapters! I continue to be to happy to see the Wayne Family interact. Damian trying to avoid getting his hair messed up for picture day at school was so good! It's so nice to see him get such a quaint, normal storyline considering his typical disposition. I also really liked the Tim two-parter and seeing Barbara do the Gendou Pose in #53!
I hope they do this series as an animated series some day!

Reading The Death of Superman 30th's Anniversary Special is such a surreal experience because it feels a lot like reading the old Triangle Era again thanks to the same production teams working on the stories within. It's main story is placed between Action Comics #999 and #1000 so in a way it feels like reading more of the Dan Jurgens Rebirth run before DC kneecapped it to give Action Comics to Bendis. This really got me wondering why we can't just get a third Superman title, which lets the old Triangle Era team do what they did best: write storylines for the supporting cast. If we have Superman: Action Comics and Superman as monthly titles why not do "Superman: Triangle Comics" and just let them flesh out that pre-age up era for Jon Kent a little more? I think that would be a nice little variety that the Superman series have lacked in recent years.

What did you guys think of Star Lord and Kitty Pride dating? I never read any of the comics they were in together so I have no idea if it was done well
-
@Shiebs Aside from the joke that Kate only dates Peters, don't know much about it.
-
I've never been a fan of Charlie Brown/Peanuts, and its been years since I read the daily newspaper strips, but this was a pretty cool tribute to Charles Shultz's 100th birthday.
https://schulzmuseum.org/tribute/
The For Better or Worse one actually really surprised me given that strip ended 14 years ago. But it might have been repurposed from the day the final Peanuts strip ran?
-
While I wouldn't say Peanuts is one of my favorite comic strips ever, I've still always enjoyed the series and it's impossible to deny its impact. I was definitely more into the TV specials and shows growing up. In any case, this was a lovely homage to the franchise and to "Sparky" himself. The Garfield comic was surprisingly sweet.
Incidentally, this kind of reminds of the Great Comic Strip Switcheroo of 1997. I'm not sure too many people remember this, but on April 1st of that year a bunch of major comic strips artists switched comics without their editors even knowing! This resulted in crossovers between Blondie and Garfield, Family Circus and Dilbert, FBOFW and MG&G, and others. Schulz himself didn't participate, but Peanuts was originally planned to switch with Mutts.

@pariston_hill lol well at least that sounds fun
Another question are the new Shang Chi comics worth reading?
I heard they gave him the rings from the movie, are they as fun in the comics as they were in the movies
