Terrible Direct, but at least they announced XC3. Very surprised to see Front Mission 1 and 2 remakes, but as far as releasing nothing but recycled content, I'll take it.

Good Direct,
Terrible Direct,
Comedy & Tragedy.
Don’t have a horse in this race but I can only imagine how Fire Emblem Three Hopes will run on the switch with how awful DW9 Empires runs on Xbox One.
Art style with Advance Wars Boot Camp doesn’t bother me (although Jess & Sonya look a bit weird). Also hoping there’s a Japanese audio option.
Nice to see Nintendo is smoking that Rockstar pack with Mario Kart 8 at the very least I hope there’s some stages from the arcade games for parity’s sake.
-
The Direct was fine, I guess. Only things I'm really interested in are Kirby (which I've already pre-ordered), Xenoblade 3, and Chrono Cross. May also pick up Live A Live and Triangle Strategy if the reviews are good.
-
More Splatoon 3 info is always good. Will pick up Advance Wars eventually. That Mario soccer game looks interesting. And I never played the Portal games. I may get them at some point too.
-
-
I guess I can elaborate a bit
- I've been clamoring for more Fire Emblem after how addicting and just overall-great Three Houses was. To see that their choice here was to plug it into the generic Warriors series, which genre-wise is about as far as you can get from FE, was really annoying. Do a proper sequel.
- Two years of MK8 DLC is really disappointing to me. I played the absolute hell out of MK8… on Wii U. It was honestly a pretty easy skip when they ported it to Switch. I figured there'd be a new game SOMETIME soon, but now all the new content for two years is just paid DLC? "New," because it's still just recycled old tracks lol.
- Kirby looks a lot worse after this Direct. It's obviously not anything truly resembling free 3D exploration; the linear level design is all there, so it's probably just a hub world on top of that. But what puzzles me the most is these new derpy appliance transformations. Right now it's a pretty big turn-off and they're really going to have to showcase some spectacular co-op to have a chance of selling me on it.
- What in the world was that Wii Sports 2 thing lmao. They expect people to pay for it? And strap already-failing joycons to their legs?
- So, so many recycled games from multiple generations ago that really make me yawn. Though again, full remakes of Front Mission 1 & 2 were a pleasant surprise.
- XC3 announcement was nice, but overall very lacking in terms of content. For a game releasing in a few months I would expect a much larger reveal. Initial impressions are that I'm not sure about the art direction and I'm sad that XCX is still completely shunned, even lore-wise. I honestly am trying to keep my excitement in check because I've had too much sequel disappointment lately, and at the very least I have to see what they did with the combat.
-
One of these days I'll have to huker down and actually play Xenoblade. I've bought it twice now!
Excited about the Portal port, my wife's never played it. I have it on Steam but she'll actually play it on a console.
-
and I'm sad that XCX is still completely shunned, even lore-wise.
My #1 hope for this direct was a Xenoblade X port/sequel lol
-
I really need to replay XC1 some day as, for some reason, it didn't really wow me on my first playthrough, but I absolutely loved XCX and XC2.
-
I think Three Hopes will be better then the original Warriors, because it's focusing just on one game, rather the mixed handful that game featured.
-
I liked some of the characters in Three Houses. Like Bernadette. So I'm gonna wait and see the roster for this one. I do like Fire Emblem and I do like Warriors but a bad roster will kill this one for me.
-
KLONOA!!! MY BOY! HE LIIIIIIIVES
Granted I have those games already for my playstation, but any signs of life are good to seeKirby keeps looking interesting.
I might finally buy Chrono Cross- those PS1 era polygonal bagrounds are just too damn alluring.
Live-A-Live, huh? I've heard good things about that, and that HD-2D thing looks gorgeous. Added to the pile.
I hope I can dab a combo deal for Cuphead upon the DLC release, I've been meaning to play that for ages.
I'm generally not fond of DLC, but 25$ for what is effectively an entire massive new games worth of Mario Kart tracks seems mighty tempting. I haven't played much of the prior games, plus all the tracks have been rejiggered to fit the flying and gravity mechanics (or even just being in 3D) so its all pretty fresh to me.All in all, I have a meaty backlog for my switch already, and am pretty stoked with these announcements. Being perpetually behind the curve on new game releases has served me well! (is currently playing Bowsers Fury + Super Mario 3D world)
-
I really wanted to like Chrono Cross, but…I dunno. The fact that there over 40 playable characters and apparently most of them don't play a big role in the overall story doesn't motivates me to keep going.
-
That wasn’t the reason I’m still on the Dungeon after the Dragons decided to turn heel for no reason.
-

Koei seems to be taking the same route as they did with Age of Calamity - focus on the newest game in X series and make this AU kinda story to expand the universe. It's a little disappointing Warriors never got to redeem itself and feature more scattered characters, but I am intrigued on the direction of Three Hopes at the least. (and i did find the first one to be fun so good chance i'll pick this up)

Its not, not really. You have to new game + for three full runs to get everyone, it'll be more like 20. But yes the roster being that big means they lack a bit.

I’m still wondering how Eiyuden Chronicle is gonna handle 100 characters
Although I guess many of the developers have worked on a very similar game
-

Suikoden managed 108.
-
Suikoden managed 108.
that’s the name of the game some of the people on this project worked on previously, that I mentioned earlier, Thanks I couldn’t remember
Basically a spiritual successor like Bloodstained ritual of the night was to Castelvania
-
If you still got a 3DS/2DS or a Wii U you’ve been put on notice.
-
How many flying islands do you guys think will be in the next Zelda game
-
Suikoden managed 108.
Let's be fair. Suikoden managed 30-40, with another 60 that were glorified NPCs.
-

I've had both systems since the beginning, and I mostly kept it physical to save on digital storage. But I bought lots of fun digital-only games over the years, and it seems crazy that very soon, they'll be a lot harder to get. Not impossible thankfully, with how cracked wide open both systems are. Still, I'm happy with the library I have now, so I hope those who had something they've had on their wish list can go on and take the plunge.

To be fair, that's still bigger then most Fire Emblem rosters, for example.
-

Apples and oranges. Fire Emblem is a tactics game/dating sim. Characters have massive skill trees and form relationships, it needs to be a smaller roster so you can intermingle those relationships and actively juggle the characters you have, and losing one of them is a huge deal.
Suikoden characters that aren't main leads have two or three spells and MAYBE one thing truly unique to them. Generally they'll have a speech quirk or a design thing and that's all that you really have to go on. When I say 30-40 characters, I meant as in "they let you play them, while the rest become shopkeepers," But even among those there's generally only a small handful that you actually get anything out of that really add anything to the story. But that's part of the scale and scope of such a thing, so its fine if any given character is basically just a memorable introduction and then never seen again.

What are people's views on the second delay of Advance Wars Reboot Camp. Nintendo said the delay was due to the events going in Ukraine. I played Dual Strike on DS and despite it being the only game in the series I played the amount of hours I clocked was obscene.
From what People have commented on twitter it seems to be assumed it's because of the paralels between Blue Moon and Russia. Perhaps it's the fact that all the units and vehicles are based on real life.
As far as I'm aware no other games have been delayed so far. But could this attitude of delaying things that have real world depictions of war cause franchises like CoD to put delays on things in future?
The only sort of precedent I've seen with delaying media like this has been at times of mass shootings in America having films get pushed back.
-
A fact: the original advance wars had to be delayed because it was stated to be released close to the week of 9/11

I don't like that the game was delayed but I understand why they did it.
As long as it's not shelved completely it's OK.

Nintendo needs to stop releasing Advance Wars games
-
^ Uhhhh no they don’t especially when the last Advance Wars game was released all the way back in 2008.
-
Russo-Georgian War
Stop jinxing wars, Nintendo!
-
-
-
When is the next Pokemon update? I can't wait to see more of Scarlet and Violet!
Also I just found out Kirby games had lore, lol
Just watched an entire Video on it and then saw some of the ending of Forgotten Land, I'm very excited to see where this series is going
! I would have never known Butterflies were pure evil if I didn't watch the lore videos
-
So yeah, Kirby fans have been winning nonstop this year and it's become apparent other Nintendo franchises aren't even trying. Seeing a Waddle Dee do something cute sparks more enjoyment than the entirety of BotW.
-
That’s a low bar to be fair.
-
-
There is a Nintendo Direct going on right now! A new Fire Emblem has been announced within the first minute
Edit: Looks like maybe they'll finally name the sequel to Breath of the Wild.
Yep. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
-
Remember the Switch came out in March 2017. The console will be past the six year mark when it gets the sequel to the game that started it off....
-
The new Bayonetta video game looks great, what do you guys think?
-
Wait there finally brining Rayman back!
-
-
I heard a little accent there, but it's not so much of it to be offensive.
-
This game is really looking good
-
Is anyone getting the new Mario + Rabbids spark of hope game? It’s getting good reviews I think
-
I still haven’t finished the first one.
-
Is the new Bayonetta game any good?
-
@Shiebs said in The New Nintendo Thread:

I’m only a couple chapters in but it’s super fun so far. And has pretty much universal extremely positive reviews.
-
Same. The Bayonetta team has done it again. If you liked the first two Bayonetta games you'll like this one.
-
Good to hear, I love the bombastic nature of this series, it’s insane, great to see its still doing well
-
