We’ll probably get it in November. No big deal to me since I ration the episodes usually and sneakily watched 870 this morning.

Darn i was hoping to be able binge 24 episodes , the 1308 link i had saved now just redirects you to 1307

I wonder if Ado will be the only credited singer, even for the dub, and that's why Crunchyroll mentions her on their article. The English op/ed singers have always been uncredited for One Piece and Dragon Ball Super.
-
I just got around to watch MP100 dub. I actually don’t mind Mob’s new voice. Based on what’s going on in the story, it makes sense if he sounds a little older and more mature
-
They've
, though the songs have been left in Japanese. Honestly, I think it sounds awkward; it sounds like the beginning of Usopp's line and the crowd's reaction are missing, plus Luffy's last line is drowned out.
The Twitter commentators have taken this to mean that the songs will be in Japanese in the movie itself, which is not great if they are indeed being dubbed.
-
These online releases of the new Voyages are just embarrassing now. Episodes randomly missing from digital, streaming missing target release dates, streaming completely missing a release, and then giving us two releases at the same time in the following month....
Just crazy. Also tired of the lack of proper English and Japanese credits ever since Punk Hazard.
-
So are the songs going to be dubbed in English for the movie or is she only going to have the dubbed songs on her channel?
-
Yeah, I’ve had to switch back and forth between the app and my laptop because of the missing episodes. Very annoying that they can’t even handle releasing content correctly on either platform.
Then, yes, the audio editing for the teaser is terrible. Lines are cut and Uta’s first line is not even mixed, I don’t think.
-
If the Film Red songs aren't dubbed that's going to be very fuckin' stupid lol. Hopefully the Japanese music in the trailer is just a placeholder-- if not it'll make the dub feel incomplete/unfinished so I'd rather just go see it subbed.
-
It'll be very strange if the Film Red songs are not dubbed. They have dubbed the songs in both Film Z and Film Gold, as well as every song in the anime (everything Brook and Big Mom have sung).
Even the French Dub of Film Red dubbed the songs. So there is precedent for it there as well
-
Yeah, I see the chances of the songs not being dubbed as highly unlikely since an actual character sings them, but having the Japanese songs in the English trailer felt really messy IMO. Hopefully an updated one comes out sooner or later.
-
Update on the Australia's release of One Piece. In December, they're starting Dressrosa and they're not getting the blu ray release like we did. They're getting Dressrosa on dvd only.
-
Guys, I had a feeling this might happen with the songs in Film Red and I have a theory as to why they might just be left alone in the original Japanese language.
See, this music is a big mainstream deal. Part of Film Red’s push is to promote the massive Japanese pop-star that is Ado. The promotional push is so strong, her album is even being promoted in popular outlets here in the US.
This is simply not the same case as all the small-time songs dubbed in the dub so far. These are high profile mainstream pop songs sung by an artist that is being heavily promoted almost everywhere. Because of these factors, I’m pretty certain that the music will not be dubbed in the theatrical release and that AmaLee (the English voice of Uta) will only cover the music on her YouTube channel.
Perhaps we will get the songs dubbed when the movie comes to Blu-ray (and when promotion for the album dies down) but I wouldn’t count on seeing the music dubbed in theaters. This is simply a different situation compared to the music that is usually dubbed in the show proper. I wouldn’t cling to that as proof that the music in Film Red will be dubbed. They’re clearly of different caliber.
-
@MooseAP I think your theory makes a lot of sense, but it doesn't account for the French version of the dub of Film Red dubbed the songs into French. Surely your theory should apply to France as well as US, so why is there this difference? It is curious.
For reference, here is the French trailer:
Interestingly, the German version does not have the songs dubbed either:
-
@Elektrik-Dynomite True, that is odd. Especially since it’s the only place. Every other dub everywhere else kept the music in a Japanese despite the dub being in the countries native language so… I dunno. Given the pedigree of the music, artist, promotion for the movie and the way they worded the press release, I wouldn’t expect the music to be dubbed in the theater release. It’s a shame, because AmaLee could definitely do the songs justice and it is a bit odd to cast someone who can sing but not have them sing… but I just don’t see it happening at this point. I’m sure she’ll cover them in her YouTube tho.
Would be a nice surprise if Ado herself recorded English versions of the songs but I don’t believe she knows enough English to do so.
-
Its still crazy for me to think next month around this Whole Cake will be completely done in English, it was one of my favorite arcs since im a big Ichiji Fan, now i dont think i will be so quick to purchase the reverie or Wano episodes though

Yeah, I’m still shocked by it as well. It feels so surreal to be watching these episodes dubbed. They’re starting to feel so recent. My wife has been like ten years behind me for like ten years, so especially weird that the gap is significantly closing. It’ll be fun for her to watch Stampede finally.
What’s even crazier is thinking we’ll be in Wano in January. Has anyone caught any VA leaks about them dubbing Wano? Hoping they don’t take a break.
Maybe I’m nuts, but these past two sets feel like they have slightly better sound mixing. Maybe they changed some settings when they realized Jinbei got messed up for a set. Then again, sometimes Jinbei’s grit isn’t quite as present, and I’m pretty sure that’s a post effect.
-
Nah, I don’t know what you mean by “grit” but the only thing that’s normally adjusted is pitch.
-
Yeah, I’m not really sure. Sometimes I’ve noticed more gravel in Jinbei’s voice than other times, where it’s gravel free. Would love to ask an actual professional whether that’s a post addition or not; sorry I won’t believe you out of hand, since I don’t think you’d have any way of knowing how they edit voices in post. Could just be the actor’s voice, but I don’t remember his unpitched voice having any gravel, if memory serves, so it could be a post effect.
-
Are the Funi Blu-ray Collections region-locked like their DVD releases? I remember back in the day the DBZ Kai Bluray release was open to the European region as well.
-
@Kaiolino Unfortunately yes, they're locked to region A (as are the movies).

I genuinely don’t understand what you mean. His voice is like… entirely gravel?? Daniel Baugh has only ever described it as pitch shifted, not a filter, and furthermore I’ve never heard of any kind of vocal filter that’s able to straight up make a voice more gravelly. That’s a much more complex alteration, and if it existed I highly doubt CRs engineers would have access to one, let alone like create one. I haven’t heard any inconsistency. in how gruff it is, but if it exists it like almost has to be on Baugh.

Season 12 Voyage 2 announced for January 17th. Still no special features or commentary, I miss those...

I know, this is a little bit off topic. But this is a discussion about Funimation/Crunchyroll home video releases. I'm not too happy about the upcoming January release of the 30th anniversary of Yu Yu Hakusho complete series boxset. I don't really want to buy the series again, just for two new ovas episodes.
Because I already got all the single dvds volumes from the original release run back in the early 2000's. I wished would've release the new ovas as an release by themselves. I hoped they end up putting up the ovas on crunchyroll soon, since the 30th anniversary boxset comes out in a couple months.
-
@Sano Oh wow i had forgot all about those OVAs, and yeah im with you hoping they be release separately or heck i would even pay for just the OVAs
-
Damn it’s a barren wasteland in here. 6 days without a post? Lol.
Anyone wanna guess how good (or bad) Red will do here in the US? It got plenty of promotion while DragonBall Super Super Hero didn’t but something tells me it still won’t do as good… hope it does decent tho.

I pre-ordered the set the other day. I actually purchased the steelbooks very recently, so I'm a little aggrieved. I was also surprised to see no art books or anything with the set.
-
I highly doubt it will do as good as super hero, but probably at least as good as stampede, which made like a mil at the box office.
-
Bummer we never got a trailer. Weird that this company expects the movie to do well when they haven’t even produced a trailer and advertisements for it.
-
They just dropped this clip today too!
-
@Zephray huh? They been released a trailer. It’s all over YouTube and other social media outlets plus advertising in Times Square and other movie theaters plus even tv spots on adult swim. Lol.
-
I really hope it makes more given how DBS SuperHero, Demon Slayer Mugen Train and Jujutsu Kaisen 0 all made at least over $20 mil over here.
-
Yeah, I been seeing Film Red commercials a lot this week on Adult Swim. They already doing a better with One Piece Film Red then the recent Dragon Ball movie. Since I only seen commercials for it the week before it came out on Comedy Central during the South Park 25th Anniversary concert.

I'm talking about for the dub. The only one I know of is the one minute teaser posted above. Usually trailers are 2-3 minutes.
-
This post is deleted!
-
@Zephray well it’s all the same trailer that’s being shown, sub and dub and it’s all for the same movie so it doesn’t really matter what language they promote with. Naturally, the sub scene for OP is bigger than the dub scene so that’s probably getting more priority but it doesn’t really matter - as long as the movie itself is being advertised. Plus the commercials on tv are indeed of the dub. Some theater chains link to the dub version of the trailer as well. But again, it’s all the same trailer, but it is indeed being advertised.
Which is why I hope it does substantially better than Stampede because if it doesn’t, in an era where anime films keep doing better and better at the box office… well, that’ll just be embarrassing.
-
@Zephray yeah you’re incorrect here. They’ve showed dub trailers and promos for a couple weeks now all over social media. I’m not sure if you’re on Snapchat, but I get an advertisement for the dubbed movie multiple times a day. I haven’t seen any trailers on tv, but I’m happy to hear that adult swim is airing some. I only use cable for sports nowadays lol
-
I could be wrong, but I was defining a trailer as being two minutes. Is there one of those out there for the dub? I see a 1-minute thing, but I'd call that a "teaser," not a "trailer."
-
Well yes when you’re defining an abstract concept by your own rules that doesn’t have any definitive set in stone ones then yes it’s rather easy to be correct.
You also very blatantly said that they didn’t just not produce a trailer, but advertisements in general, which everyone here has very clearly proven to be untrue. Just because they’re not promoting the film in the very specific way you deem as correct does not mean they are not advertising the film.

https://www.boxofficepro.com/long-range-box-office-forecast-one-piece-film-red/
Film Red is tracking anywhere from 8 to 15 million opening weekend.
Seen another source put it at 12 - 15.
-
Really hoping they dub Uta's music for the film, what a waste it'd be of Amalee's talent not to. Apparently France got the go-ahead to dub them, so here's hoping.

Check yourself. You’re being an asshole here. And no, it’s not my own definition. Teasers are always shorter than full trailers.
Also, if you read my language, I clearly say, “I could be wrong,” so why you come at me with such venom is beyond me. If it is a “trailer,” it’s a very short one, and I’d expect a longer, fuller trailer considering all the excitement surrounding the release.
-
@Zephray Yes, but there’s no precise definition for how long a teaser or how long a trailer has to be, and I certainly don’t think one having a short length means a film is simply not being advertised. Even if you were correct and factually if it’s only a minute long it is 100% a teaser, I feel like you’d just be arguing semantics when that wasn’t the larger point in the first place.
-
There was no larger point. I said the movie didn’t get a full trailer for the dub. Big whoop. When you disagree with me, you don’t need to argue or be asinine. We come to this forum for enjoyment, not to argue. Stop it.

FuniRoll's QC issues continue; if you listen closely at 00:46 and 1:16, you can hear the Japanese voices underneath the English ones. Let's hope they fix that before it hits cinemas.
-
Good catch! Should we let them know somehow?
-
Has anyone here made the jump to Crunchyroll??, all the new dubs are going there and the only reason i kept Funimation was for the new One Piece dub releases which now i buy from the Microsoft store so should i cancel Funimation and go to crunchyroll
-
I have both. CR’s navigation is annoying because you have to wait for it to scroll to see what language the subheading is, but otherwise the app has been mostly fine for me. Been watching Mob, Spy Family, Berserk, and others. I’m still watching OP on the funimation account, and I won’t cancel it until the dub is on CR.
-
@Zephray How is the Cruncyroll player?
