Its kinda sad to see how much they trusted family and how that bit them in the ass.
More like they were so arrogant they couldn't see what was right in front of their faces. Law obviously wanted nothing to do with them. He even told Caesar not to tell Joker he was there, which I'm sure Monet immediately told Doffy.
Even with information from Monet that Law was, if not openly, at least obviously doing SOMETHING against the Family, Doffy chose to let him stay there doing whatever he was doing all that time, and STILL deluded himself into thinking Law had just now decided to betray him. These people live in a totally different world than everyone else.

Wano predictions: There will be 5 acts; All Straw Hats will get fights, some in Act 4; Big Mom Pirates will arrive; Carrot will have her moment, but won't join; Yamato will be a Kouzuki samurai and Wano's Guardian; Shanks will visit Luffy in Act 5; Next arc is Mary Geoise.

They've been such a non-factor and totally absent its weird. I could only guess they would be the obstacle to be part of the focus of a possible act 4 (assuming the tobiroppo and all stars don't get up after losing, assuming the all stars lose just as fast).

Yeah but even then Oda pretty much went out of his way to work in Doffy being also known as Joker in to his connection to Kaido and the Beast Pirates based off his original intentions with the character.
Cuz that makes me think if Ace's name was Jack would we not have a Jack in the Beast pirates?

What could be Eustass Kidd's role after Wano? His crew, outside of him and Killer, doesn't stack up with Luffy's. When he was introduced back in Sabaody, I was hoping in the post-timeskip OP he would be a major arc antagonist.

This is one of those questions I recon Oda is struggling with too. It's already common knowledge the Supernovas weren't planned for Sabaody (at least not all of them) so it's possible he thought up Kid on the fly, the guy made a bigger impact than expected and now we're stuck with a powerful rival with no purpose in the story.
I think his main goal will still be the One Piece, and at some point nearing Raftel him and his crew might clash with the Strawhats (one-sided as that fight will be). There's also the question of Killer's smile fruit affliction. I can't see Oda leaving all the people of Ebisu Town afflicted with that, it would be too cruel for One Piece. If Chopper devices a medicine then Killer should get it too and then the Kid Pirates owe them a debt. That could be used later on to justify Kid helping the Strawhats, maybe in the upcoming war. Another possibility is if the Strawhats go seek Vegapunk for a cure, then Kid might tag along.

I see it as Vegapunk personally coming to Wano with escorts to cure Smile victims. After all it's going to get it's borders opened isn't it?

So question. Is there any good place I can import the Japanese One Piece Volumes to Sweden, or read the Japanese manga online legally? I want to get back to learning Japanese, and while I've heard One Piece isn't the best series for that it's the one manga I've loved and re-read more than any other. It'd be fun to have just one or two volumes so I can see the original for myself.

I'm pretty sure the effects of Shinobu's DF are permanent / irreversible. Just think of the first time we saw her use her ability to make a hole in the ground, I doubt that hole disappeared.

I think she'd mention that her ability could be reversed if she was unconscious.
Then you could literally knock her out after Kaido is defeated and Onigashima is not in the air. Also, if that were the case Shinobu could create an aged Wano child army with every kid in Wano to further the chances of the raid succeeding.

His crew is so outclassed right now that they're not a threat to the SHP. Not even compete. Name-value alone, sure Luffy and Zoro are cancelled out by Kidd and Killer. But Vinsmoke Sanj and ex-Warlord Jimbei? Plus the looming Yamato powerhouse, can't see Heat and Wire holding a candle to that.

For what it's worth, and this is just my own speculation, I foresee Kidd stepping up to briefly become a real rival to Luffy, if only relatively briefly, by teaching him a very painful lesson in matters of trust and betrayal, which Luffy is long overdue; I firmly believe Kidd is going to do something to betray and really fuck over Luffy by the end of Wano, not only endangering his life, but taking the bulk of the credit for "defeating" Kaido.
I imagine he'll also walk away with Kaido's club, along with a good chunk of his troops. Maybe even gets awarded with the title of Yonko before Luffy, just to further rub it in….a precursor of things to come.
So yeah, instant blood feud that'll culminate in a future bout at a later place and time. Should Kidd becomes a Pirate Lord, defeating him is what will officially secure Luffy's place among their ranks. I suspect their fate battleground will end up Kano or thereabouts...Killer's anime vocalizations being just one of dozens of reason I think Luffy and co. will pay a stop to Kano in the future to have themselves their very own lil Journey to the West, with Kidd playing the role of Red Boy to Luffy's Sun Wukong/Goku.
How Kidd will go about measuring up to Luffy in terms of individual power, that's a different matter. But I suspect he, Killer, and some others will achieve or receive upgrades of their own before all's said and done. We're probably going to see everybody gearing/powering up for battle as all the world powers continue their military escalations. Guy's good with metal, cyborgs and tech are all the rage nowadays, maybe he'll somehow get someone to turn him into a cyborg?
That said, I don't see Kidd functioning as the exclusive big bad of any coming arc…more like a mid-boss in the midst of a larger overall storyarc. In this sense, even if his own crew may not be up to snuff overall, it it does mean the Strawhats in general may other issues and enemies dividing their attention at least, going Kidd and crew some leeway.
Whatever happens, I think Oda has distinct plans for Kidd becoming something more than just another cheerleader in the immediate future; we already got plenty of those as is. Kidd's in a prime position to push Luffy into interesting new directions.

I got a translation question about chapter 235, page 8, the bottom panel where Montblanc Cricket cheers on Luffy as he's leaving for Skypiea.
In the Swedish version he said "That's what we call romance!", a line that really stuck with me and helped cement my view on One Piece. But in what I assume is the official English translation he says "that's what makes it a Great Adventure!"

So my question is: what'd he say in Japanese? Did he specifically mention Romance (like in Romance Dawn) or did he say something else?

Plus was given the D. Initial later on. I doubt there's still time for Oda to build on Kidd as a serious rival. After Kaido, only the admirals and Blackbeard are credible threats.

Hey man. I waa hoping for Oda having plans for Kidd too. And agree, the best that can be done, if Oda still intends for Kidd vs Luffy / Zoro vs Killer to happen is if they clash as mid-arc opponents. Like in a free for all situation in Skypeia. Outside of that, not sure how he can build on Kidd. Luffy is way ahead of him. Law's more important going forward having shown interest with the meaning of D.
A tad bit disappointed because Kidd's devil fruit had so much potential! Instead he's just gathering junk and scraps to form a big hand and whack people. Was hoping for Magneto-like use-cases

Yeah, Law's popularity screwed over Hawkins and Kid big time.
They're side and support characters/antagonists in the big yonkou saga. Plus after this seems like Oda is moving on to use the last two supernova, Bonney and Urouge. Drake at the most may have some focus later on.

You know what I find weird? Wano's borders are "closed" but it's not like they're inside some dome or a great wall blocking themselves off from the world. They're just really high up which really shouldn't be an obstacle since several pirates made their way to the sky islands.
So I'm just wondering how do they keep those newspaper birds from dropping the news off in the country? Were they sniping the birds out the sky and the papers fell in the ocean? Do those birds just naturally not fly near Wano?
Exactly how can Wano truly open its borders if they don't get the news?

I think we've seen Kaido reading the newspaper in Onigashima so the waterfall is not an obstacle for the birds.

The birds probably can reach Wano easily, it's just that the country is a closed one. Its currency is different from the World GOvernment's, so they can't pay for the newspapers, and I'd bet that the birds are shot if seen, which would not stop them always but it does make it risky to send precious birds to a place where people can't pay for the service nor are interested in it.
Anyway, Kaido has a big enough organization to acquiere papers for himself.

I'm leaning towards some possible national "shoot on sight" directive as being the simplest explanation. Only a matter of time before word would spread among the Newscoo themselves and/or their handlers, one way or the other.
At this point, most Wano peeps probably wouldn't even know what to make of a Newscoo provided they somehow come across one. "Looks like that weird bird's carrying a message or something…well whatever, dying over here fml bleh."

Fake News Morgans' Network and influence seems to be vast if he was invited to Big Mom's Tea Party. So the easiest answer wouldn't be a technical one, but simply Morgans obeying the pecking order in the New World (maybe he even has a deal with Kaido).

I think it's more a cost and reward thing.
Morgans don't send the newspapers free, they are paid for. Wano doesn't need to stop every newscoo: if the people can't pay (because they use another currency), the coos are shot frequently enough, and there's some deterrants against the population trying to get the news anyway (for instance, risk of prison or punishment against those found reading or distributing foreign news), the sending birds to Wano just becomes a risky operation because of low sales compared to loss of precious birds.

I think we saw the birds needing payment. I think I remember Nami dealing with that so if you dont pay you cant get news.
As for open borders I imagine generally letting people from Wano travel and not forcing outsiders to stay on the beach if Whitebeard is any indication to pre Orochi times. Also make the secret passage to get on there without crashing not a secret.

What does everyone think about the potential for Momonosuke's love life going forward?
Before the age jump, Momo & Tama could've been potential love interests for each other.
Now it would be "adult body+child brain" Momo with "child body+child brain" Tama. Doesn't seem right

The only solution I can see is for Momo to refrain from getting as close to any women as he might like for a decade or two… even though he's jumped through puberty in a day and is bound to feel the effects from that. -
I suspect developments will take place to revert Momonosuke back to his usual form, whether it be Vegapunk, Bonney or some choice space medicine. Or the side-effects of the Artificial Devil Fruit could kick in and mess with the effects of Shinobu's power reducing Momonosuke's age to a teenage range.
While Momonosuke is a child, he is quite mature and possesses a mind more developed than an average 8 year old. I don't see much issue in Momonosuke ending up in a body of a teenager. It may also set-up a potential Momonosuke x Shirahoshi ship. Pink Mermaid and Pink Dragon. Both possessing the power to communicate with Colossal Ancient Beasts. Momonosuke may just be Shirahoshi's type.

I file "Wano as isolationist" together with "Wano as old-fashionedly sexist" as "issues that on the surface should be bigger deals than they ultimately were". The isolationism specifically is just a lot more jarring considering "opening Wanos borders" is such a big plot point, but even pre-Kaido no one really seemed to give much of a shit about the borders in Wano. Like, it doesn't seem like theres any strong feelings about Wano keeping itself isolated, it just…was. Apart from when the plot needed Zoros sensei to be a migrant from Wano and such.

Well, we saw that Yasuie and his crew were very gung-ho about protecting the borders, and it was noted that Ryuma likewise fended off invaders looking to profit off the "Country of Gold." There's probably a lot more we haven't been made privy to as of yet, so far as Wano's history of fending off greedy outsiders goes.

Yeah but the perspective of "We must open the borders!" being what many of the most emotionally invested people have as their explicit goal, its a really undercooked plotline. Like, the scabbards don't even know exactly why they need to do it, just that its probably important. When Oden gives his huge dying speech about opening the borders, theres not really much of a reaction to it. Its weird. The clearest display of enforeced closed borders we've seen have been when Kaidous sentries attacked Big Moms approaching ship, and even those sentries can vanish whenever people need to reach Wano for plot reasons, such as Luffy.

I guess one could arguably see how Inu, Neko, and Kawamstu recognize the value in Wano opening the borders, given their brush with xenophobia and respective outside backgrounds.
But I do get what you're saying, particularly as it may pertain to the rest. One could rationalize I suppose it as a consequence of Oden and moreso Yasuie pushing them to expand their horizons, so to speak, but it still falls way short, so I agree with you there.
That said, I think the story's far from over, so we may see this explored more in depth…or not. But one possible route I could see Oda taking is further examining their own personal stakes here independent of latching onto Oden's dream, and thus tying back to Kaido's accusations to Momo 20 years back: how he was just repeating a dream that was foisted onto him. Not to say that's true or applies to the Scabbards, but could hint at an exploration into the topic in general; one's own wishes vs. fulfilling those of others, and where it can becomes difficult to distinguish between the two. I think we've arguably seen the seeds of this already planted.
But could always just be chalked up to "Oden's dream is our dream now blah blah..." Which would still fall well within the general thematic framework.

We'll see. The Wanoese have proven to be a fickle bunch with a habit of flipflopping. If things go the way I think they will, we're probably going to see them bitching again, rinse and repeat.
