To this day it amazes me that people are SURPRISED that Joss Whedon turned out to have issues with women. Like, have you seen literally ANY show he has worked on?
Yeah, Buffy and Willow being strong female leads in the 90's gets him a lot of street cred for being feminist, but then you look at the plots and abusive relationships he kept putting them through? (First Angel being like 300 years older than her underage self, and then Spike and alllll the ooginess there? The obsessive stalking, the giving in while being suicidal, that Buffy being raped was character development for Spike? And Spike was framed as the sympathetic one while Buffy was wrong for spurning him?)
And how badly he had the main POV character on Firefly treat Inara? "He's secretly in love with her" doesn't cut it with how outright abusive and insulting he was to her constantly. It doesn't matter what her job is, you don't keep calling her "the hooker" and giving her shit over and over again and get pass. One time, one scene, okay, but he did it the entire show.
The entire premise of Dollhouse? We literally prostitute this girl out over and over, but then wipe her memory every episode?
The Black Widow subplot in Avengers 2? "I'm a monster too because they burned out my woman parts"? (Which wasn't the intent of the scene but hooo boy that it made it to film without anyone noticing the obvious interpretation?)
The entire premise and conclusion of Dr. Horrible?
Like, the guy has an extreme talent for witty dialogue and jokes, and paces a story well, he's definitely a good writer and creator? And he is is willing to put strong female characters in his shows, props to him, no argument at all.
But he also very, very obviously has some recurring issues with women. That… when they show up THAT often are obviously going to be part of who he is in real life.
Joss Whedon basically supports the idea of looking like he supports women in media.
I guess we should see this sort of thing coming when we're all heralding a cishet White guy for being a feminist genius instead of giving more praise to women.
This somehow slipped under my radar. I did not know they made an animated short about Death:
Is this like the first time she's shown up in the DC animated-verse? Or live-action? Anywhere not on paper? Did she beat her brother getting on screen first?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
So they call this the Cheetah trailer, but really it's only like 10 seconds added on the first one:
Soooo much retconning needed for that to make sense. They should have been forced to produce a half-dozen scripts telling a consistent story before the DCEU got off the ground so this kind of thing didn't need to happen and leaving everything a jumbled mess.
While I personally would like to see a clean slate it's not like they can't salvage this film universe. Just ignore most of MoS, BvS and Suicide Squad while taking the bits that aren't bad and calling back to those when necessary. Frankly, I think they should do an anthology Justice League film where we see the Justice League at various points in their life. Open the film with Clark's bachelor party and just let the actors goof off and have fun in various scenarios for 15-20, then time skip for the next segment–so-on-and-so-forth.
Well, I suppose ol' Snyder won't have to worry about that anymore if his director's cut of Justice League turns out to be profitable. I'm going to laugh my ass off if he winds up getting a second chance to continue his story. It really shouldn't be so complicated to make a better fucking film when all he has to do is have more than one fucking interest (weirdly humorless films, interesting in more than two colors, an actual range of emotions).

Actually all I had meant was that there's no way Diana could have kept her identity a secret nor her exploits hidden if she was doing all that stuff in 1984, so pretending otherwise in BvS that nobody recognized her or knew what she had been getting up to, and for Superman to be the first big metahuman to get public attention was just a ludicrous load to have to swallow.
If we could completely excise every one of the first five films except for WW, maybe have Suicide Squad be a frankenstein of Superman, BvS and itself to tell the relevant bits of the story, and rewrite JL as a result to match all of it, then we'd have something worth working with. Otherwise I have to ignore everything prior to Aquaman (which I'm fine with doing, didn't care much for WW either to be honest) even though I'd prefer having a better intro for Harley in BoP than being the Jared Leto version of the Joker's pet. Better yet, a Flashpoint movie would be both awesomeness incarnate, and a way to retcon all that negative stuff out like DOFP did for X-Men.
Funnily enough, I thought the only good films were Shazam and Birds of Prey. I'm not sure how Flashpoint is going to turn out because of Miller's assaulting of a fan, it feels like that film is in constant flux. A nice curve ball is definitely something the universe needs at this point.
I'd also just love to see another Harley film, exploring her relationship with Ivy. That's a hell of a duo right there and after how hard Birds of Prey leaned into its sapphic viewers' interests I definitely want to see more.
According to rumors Miller apparently isn't being removed from the DCEU nor is Amber Heard.
But of course shit could happen between now and whenever.

I heard something was going on with her, but don't know any details. What's up with Heard and all the kerfuffle?
She and Depp got in domestic violence spat initially Depp took heat for it but in the aftermath some bad stuff also came out about Heard.

She took a shit in Depp's bed.
….Seriously.
Whoa, she's who Johnny Depp was in a relationship with? I really do not pay attention to that kind of stuff.
@Johnny:

That’s almost worse than nearly severing his finger.
Celebrities are crazy people. Never meet your heroes. Just let them play superheroes on the big screen.
Andy Muschietti (The Flash) and Matt Reeves (The Batman) are both confirmed to show footage for their respective films at DC Fandome.
Also, DC Fandome has been split between this weekend and September 12.
Some interesting panels for Saturday
WB Games? What is that?
WB Games? What is that?
WB Games Montreal was the studio behind Batman: Arkham Origins. From what I've seen, it looks like they're making a game based on the Court of Owls storyline from the start of the New 52. (though it will probably take elements from other stories, like the other Arkham games)
Fucking right, Arkham Origins had Court of Owls easter eggs. I forgot.
@Cyan:

You forgot, I don't remember.
Why would anyone think Ezra would be cut?
His whole "controversy" stems from a 5 second clip, which honestly looks more like him joking around with a fan pretending to "hurt" her in a store.
If Ezra was seriously choking this woman out in the middle of a store, I think
A. The person that was filming would have filmed a BIT more than 5 seconds, and maybe given SOME statement on what happened
B. At least 1 person outside the three involved would have noticed a celebrity seriously choking someone out in broad daylight.
C. It would have been ALL OVER THE NEWS. Not just from people on forums and people tweeting DC to fire Ezra.
There is so little context to such a small clip, with nobody ever claiming this was a serious incident.
If I had to guess what actually happened, based on such small context, I'd guess the fan jokingly said "Ezra choke me daddy" or something to that effect. He "choked her" while pretending to get angry, as he said in that hokey voice "Oh, you wanna fight", as the friend recorded it. It probably cuts off after 5 seconds because they started laughing.
his controversy also includes problematic behaviour in sets - spamming from multiple shows -, alcohol and substance abuse, and how hard it is to work with him.
Eh, let him go. I'm honestly in favor of recasting almost everyone in the DCEU outside of Aquaman, Shazam and Birds of Prey.
Matt Reeves posted the logo for his Batman film
Here's Jim Lee's artwork for DC Fandome's The Batman panel
That pic, along with the set pics, does seem to indicate we are getting the first real "white eyes" Batman on film, outside of the brief moment in The Dark Knight.

What do you mean by that? Didn't one of the Batman costumes in BvS have that same white eyes deal?
Affleck's Batman and Keaton's Batman confirmed for Muschietti's Flash film

The novelty of that didn't wear off with the CW Flash show doing that? Also why does the costume on the TV show look so much less crappy than the one in the theatrically released JL movie?
In Justice League, I think it's supposed to be his cruddy self-made suit. I think there was some concept art of the final suit.
The idea of the Flash suit in JL looking bootleg is that Barry made it himself and was supposed to get a shiny new non-crappy looking suit from Bruce Wayne that would debut in the Flash movie, according to the original plan for the DCEU before JL exploded in everyone's faces.

I want the full gamut, Val Kilmer and George Clooney also should be there.
Snyder Cut Teaser
Affleck was just announced as reprising his role as Batman in The Flash along with Michael Keaton's involvement being confirmed.
This pretty much confirms for me. They are going to Flashpoint away the bad DCEU movies and keep the good. They flat out said this would introduce the Multiverse.

What about Adam West? They can probably do that trick from the post-credits of Spider-Verse where they had Spider-Man 2099 meet the old 60's animated Spidey.
Happy to see Affleck get a second shot at his Batman. Hollywood cares so little for the health of its laborers in general so I'm glad to see that Affleck can come back for some fun. If he still wants to I say let him do a mini-series based on his idea for a solo adventure but also…don't rush him. Let him shoot at a non-insane pace and let him edit. Hell, the Star Wars prequel trilogy had three years between films, not these films are coming out every other year...it'll destroy your workers if you don't involve them in the decision-making process.
Happy to see this film is shaping up, though. If this is going to be about the murder of mothers then you need to show Barry his potential paths: Affleck, who is still trying to figure it out, Keaton who has squandered away his life because he could not--or refused to--figure it out. I say ask Bale and Hathaway to come back, Barry follows Reverse-Flash into their world and they're just enjoying retirement--maybe running a restaurant or a hotel somewhere quiet. Barry learns another potential path from Bale-Batman: give it up, find someone to spend the rest of your days with and be happy that you were so lucky. Surrender your desire for revenge, let it destroy your future, or struggle to find a world where you have it both ways. What path will Barry choose?

Adam West is no longer with us. sniff

I know (Family Guy will be poorer having lost him), that's why I referenced that Spider-Verse thing since you could just take footage of old West Batman and superimpose it into anything else they want to use it in. If they can de-age Samuel L. Jackson for Captain Marvel and put Arnold's head onto a Terminator body for 5 seconds, they can make this happen.
Except there's the issue with dialog, you can get an impersonator but that begs the question of why use his likeness but not his actual voice.

Yeah it would be like doing a Stan Lee cameo now, you could do it….but we know it isn't him. Like with Carrie Fisher and Peter Cushing in Rogue One. Do you REALLY want that?
I would include the original dialogue in addition to his archive footage. Literally find one line that would respond in a realistic way to whatever's happening in the movie. I would think College Humor or someone would already have put something like that together.
DC going the multiverse route and making cool standalone movies, trilogies etc. is a good idea instead of doing a mcu like copy.
A new Wonder Woman trailer was shown at the FanDome event.

There should be panels on the Flash movie and James Gunn's Suicide Squad movie in the next few minutes, and Black Adam, Aquaman, Matt Reeves' Batman movie, and Shazam should be later tonight.
The Suicide Squad character reveal teaser
Behind the scenes of The Suicide Squad
King Shark has had a great few years.
Yes, he is in my top 5 characters of the Harley Quinn show.
Shazam: Fury of the Gods is confirmed as the sequel's title. They confirmed that the legendary comedian Sinbad will play an unspecified role. My guess is Tawky Tawny
!
Apparently Nathan Fillion is playing Arm-Fall-Off Boy in the new Suicide Squad movie.
This is the peak of cinema as an artform and really we should just stop making movies after this point, noting is topping that.
