Reminds me of how a lot of Asian characters in western media over the years have tended to be some kind of martial arts expert.

Darkshine is a parody of Mr. Olympia, probably Ronnie Coleman. Basically, if you train hard enough, you literally turn into a parody of Ronnie Coleman, doesn't matter if you're caucasian, asian or whatever, turning into a black person is NOT the point, turning into Ronnie Coleman is, it just happens that he is black. One did it on purpose, and remember that he is JAPANESE, it's not considered racist, it's just funny, americans are just oversensitive about this stuff lately because of their history and very mixed ethnicity. But if something is considered wrong in a culture, doesn't mean it has to be wrong in all the others. I like this turn of events, it shows once again that Garou really isn't a monster, he just thinks that strong people are all bullies. In this chapter, he realized HE was the bully.

This post ALL day. I’m black and neither myself nor any of my black friends who read OPM find Darkshines design to be even remotely offensive. If anything I was bummed to learn he’s not actually black. 
I also liked that. Tareo is the catalyst for his development here. Before befriending Tareo Garou was quite ruthless.
Yeah this and Puru Puri Prisoner's hilarious wacky rape antics that further stereotypes gays as disgusting predators in the notoriously open minded Japanese society are the only times this series raises my eyebrows. Well that and the fanservice (often of an underage-but-actually-a-four-thousand-year-old-dragon body) being a bit too gratuitous at times.
Jeez, y'all talk about sensitivity, but I'm seeing that far more from these overly defensive posts. It's not like someone threatened to drop the series or something.

On the one hand I like how the two are sympathetic to each other, unlike in the webcomic. I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff, warms my black shriveled heart. But I dislike more how Garou is depicted as way too nice in the manga. At this point in the webcomic, I liked Garou because despite being grade A jerk, he saved the kid that one time, showing he might not actually be all that bad. It was ambiguous whether he really was a monster or a secret big 'ol softie. I'm not as much a fan of Mangarou for now. Now, it's not ambiguous. We get bombarded with a million moments of him being a swell dude. So far he's just been depicted as a big softie who doesn't actually want to seriously hurt anyone. So where's the tension? (lol, tension in one punch man, I know). I can't be the only one who wants Garou to be more of a villain right?
I'm black and in a weird way I feel better about him being overly coated in oil than actually being a black guy.
He was kinda reminding me of Choco Love from Shaman King. He's probably the worst depiction…

Last chapter Tatsumaki said that now that King has the kid, she's not going to hold back anymore against Pyskos and Orochi. So yeah, she's shielding Darkshine and probably the other heroes as well; presumably she knows them well enough that she can poinpoint their minds in a way she couldn't with a hostage.
Does Tatsumaki think she's weaker than King or whoever is #7?

Damn if that panel with Tatsumaki pulling Psykos out and the following one when they're both in the air aren't some of the prettiest things I've seen in my life. So amazing.

The only way I could maybe see this working in a live action movie is telling Saitama's origin story.
You can throw in some King cameo in there aswell after Saitama beats a monster.
His silly training and him quickly becoming more powerfull could be enjoyable to watch.
It can end with Saitama losing his hair and one-shotting some huge monster.
It could also start off quite serieus, but becoming more of a comedy the more overpowered he's becoming.
They should make him a teenager and cast James Marsters as main villain again, the Vaccine Man. Without antennae, of course.

They have an executive committee that does it; most of them don't really care very much these days though and just throw out whatever name they think of when they see the hero.

But seriously, it seems pretty clear that since Saitama is extending a "nice to meet you" in her direction,
he's pretty chill with her and isn't gonna kill her after this is over.
In fact, the story seems to be giving Manako significant focus and reader attachment.

Manako might just be a natural born monster; not all of them were transformed from other beings after all.

This is obviously setting up things down the road and inserting it into a chapter when you're already going to switch away from the action to show what Flashy Flash and Saitama are up to makes the most sense.

He asked Ground Dragon and the lion guy for an apology and compensation for damaging his wall (or roof or something). Ground Dragon just tried to run away without apologizing.

Black was at the head of a big terrorist organization that did a lot of damage which Goku witnessed first hand. Letting him escape to possibly do it all over again would not be very heroic.

He only really got that way after training with Kami - as a kid, Goku built up a higher body count than what you'd expect. (most of them being robots and monsters, but he had no problem with Tao Pai Pai apparently dying)
He kept Piccolo (Junior) alive out of necessity, since if he died, then so would Kami, and the Dragon Balls would no longer exist. That worked out pretty well for him, so he stuck with that attitude until Freeza.

This is not a Dragon Ball thread so i will not delve too much into it but the Goku that killed Black was battle-hardened and had been fighting the Red Ribbon army for a while. The one that let Vegeta leave was family-oriented and been accustomed to peace for years at that point. That is the big reason why the fighters on earth were vulnerable to the invading Saiyans since there had been no global threat for a while and everyone had gone soft. Like Megadoomer said; Goku kept that attitude until Freiza who had just committed too many atrocities including genocide and simply could not allow him to live.
So what i am saying is that characters change and context matters. Not everything is black & white and a character can be heroic even if they do not let every single opponent live.
Again I prefer the original webcomic, I get that it’s still the same writer and all but it just feels like he’s adding to much, and veering to far from the original, this arc was already a really long arc before we had all this new stuff added in

Nobody said anything about black and white. Nobody said a character can't be heroic even if they don't spare some opponents.

! I apparently need to reread that arc then, I remember Psykos taking advantage by attacking Tatsumaki when her defenses were down due to her attacking other monsters, which one has stated is most psychics weakness they can either attack or defend not both (well except for Mob)
