If Kyoukai dies over this dumb bullshit, the series can go to hell.
Kingdom

-
Nah, she won't die. She will lose her spirit dance. That will be the cost.
-
What a great chapter
! Kyoukai and Shin are both dead, so now the manga will end without any further plot complications
-
The series always had fantasy elements, sure. But i don't feel like this is consistent with the things that had been shown so far, even with Kyoukais spiritual stuff.
Also she's my favourite character … so fuck all this shit. -
This must be what they call "jumping the shark" in US.
-
I haven't been as turned off from this arc as everyone else (though I am exhausted from it), but this… is stupid and there really isn't a way for it to be resolved to make it satisfactory.
-
Ugh, really wish Hara would not have gone down this path. Don't like it one bit.
-
Spiritual, miracle, kill Kyou Kai while Heki progresses beyond belief
-
Maybe Houken will come and sacrifice his life force for SHin so Kyokai doesn't have to die. What other ways there would be to make this more ridiculous? :D
-
Sure, it goes hand in hand with the last-second childhood flashback about mysterious healer parents.
-

Something like this happening was my guess the moment Houken's backstory was revealed and, I'm confident it will be as exactly as ungratifying as it sounds.
After this next chapter to confirm my suspicions, I'm moving on to greener pastures. There's so many excellent manga out there: at this point, dropping Kingdom is no great loss.
-
Sad day for Kingdom fans.
Hara is probably burned out.
Series has been going for years that the guys probably been drained out of having draw big war arcs after big war arcs.
This series has gone full shounen a while ago and the reusing of certain tropes has become much more prevalent.
Auto pilot was blatantly on in terms of story telling in certain chapters too.
Welp, once again I advocate that if there is enough work life balance in the industry most long running manga wont end in a shitty spiral. -
It was a perfect opportunity to have Houken beaten as a group effort, Shin and his company giving it all they got. It would perfectly illustrate the difference in conflicting philosophies. A lot better than having Shin just be stronger because he has friends. And it would be a fitting end for Houken, considering how he won against Ouki.
Have all those soldiers on both side participate instead of being a static audience.
-
I like idea of pathseekers and feel like there was potential to tap into Houken as one of them. However the only who truly recognized him as such was Rebook, as even Shin didn't see this supposed light inside of him. I don't understand why did author chose to write and portray him this underwhelming way, maybe just lacked time and ideas.
But worse so, now his underwhelming unfulfilling torch is passed to Shin. And in the process, that very Shin won against him through idk even how. How was his body able to hold on there? And now being revived by some magic powers even though magic doesn't exist in verse. Or so I assume so. That's a bit too many things happening, each of whom tore away suspension of disbelief.
-
! So…
! Kyokai may really actually be dead. -
So this is how fans of Evangelion felt when watching the two final episodes of the show.
-
I would much rather her take a sword for Shin then go out on a stupid metaphysical level like this.
-
She won't be completely gone, she'll just live inside his head with him :)
-
Man, this is just adding insult to injury. The fuck is going on.
-
! Ok so the full spoilers seem to suggest that Kyoukai will actually make it as well, probably. Still not a fan of current proceedings but as long as she doesn’t die then I’m happy.
-
Really don't think this deserves to be put in spoiler tabs, but out of courtesy, I guess…
! Kyoukai throws Shin through a portal and starts sinking to death…
! >! BUT WAIT! Shousa and Kyogai are there to bail her out lol!
-
Ahh yes my dose of nakama power in my seinen
-
This is an absulute, utter asspull and unimagitive writing… In total disbelief what is happening with this series
-
Huh, the images in my spoiler tabs aren't showing for some reason. Oh well.
-
Chapter's out, kinda (I'd link it, but I read a french scan for once so probably not relevant for most people here). I can't wrap my head around the fact it was entirely dedicated to this crap.
But, hey, cheer up, there are people out there who like that stuff : the site I read it from was brimming with teary-eyed comments of appreciation. Made me want to puke a little. It takes everything to make a world, I guess.
-
Ahh yes my dose of nakama power in my seinen
Kingdom has had a lot of shounen battle manga BS in it for most of the series. With that being said, this ending is cheeks.
-
Honestly, those last two chapters felt completely unnecessary. We'll just have to acknowledge they happened and move on.
-
Would have been a perfectly fine chapter if only Hara introduced supernatural elements supporting this kind of development all throughout the story in a little more direct way.
-
Or if these elements were more metaphorical.
Have both Shin and Kyou Kai "die" and meet on those stairs. Then Kyou Kai can remember her resurrection dance bla bla.
-
Oh where are the days of coalition war
-
Oh where are the days of coalition war
I think Coalition war was tipping point of this series, I think it was that arc that I first started to notice major predictable elements and…shounen influences? These were still more rare at this point and next arcs were still pretty good... but if you compare current arc to first war arcs its like different series.
-
The only thing this managed to accomplish was further highlight the girl is head over heels for him.
-
Felt like Hara forgot Hyou as Shin progressed through the story. Great chapter

Just Hara? I read the spoiler summary and though Duke Hyou was in this chapter.
-
Just Hara? I read the spoiler summary and though Duke Hyou was in this chapter.
I was hoping he brought him back. Kept suffocating Shin with Sei and Ouki as if Hyou wasn't the initial spark.
-
Shousaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
-
chapter is out in the usual place. maybe we can get back to the story now that that is out of the way…
-
What are the 2 pieces of good news, Hara. Tell me now
-
What are the 2 pieces of good news, Hara. Tell me now
1. No more Houken in the future
2. This abysmal arc is close to finished, and the rest will be very Kanki-centric.
So, the Battle of Shukai Plains is over, and what a disaster it was.
In the end Riboku indeed had wasted the whole battle, despite so much going for him, and his only strategy was to starve the Qin, only for that point to be instantly forgotten by the author.
He had no ideas and no strategies for the endgame (he himself had admitted, that he did not count on Houkens appearance) apart from a small diversional attack on Ousens HQ.And Ousen was not any better; completely neglecting his destroyed left wing, having blind faith in the youngsters to auto-win his battles (which is often seen in shounen and could be a good character trait in some commanders, but surely not in one that was hyped that much as great strategist) and in general passively standing by and dreaming the days away.
It was all in all a terrible performance by both Ousen and Riboku and I fear how we will almost surely be told soon by the narrator how incredibly those two had been.
-
What are the 2 pieces of good news, Hara. Tell me now
One of them probably that Kyokai would have lived 200 years if she hadn't given away life force so that the whole thing has no future impact on the story…
-
! And the real battle… begins
-
It felt so good to see Kanki, damn
-
chapter out in usual place. so nice to have some progress
-
sigh Why did Hara inflict the Shukai plains on us and then suddenly pick up the pace ? Could there not have been a satisfying middle ground ? I'm so done with this arc that even this chapter (of rather bland expository protagonist congratulation) where things get moving at last falls flat on me.
-
Whoever has the best pawns wins. I see no lies here
-
Ah indeed the shukai plains were really crappy
-
There exist not a more godly panel than this
!
-
Yeah thought the same.
Kanki and anything involving him remains the only redeeming part of this arc
