Does my guy Qui Gon show up in that trailer?
Star Wars Universe - Resurrection F

It appears that we've moved from quasi-remakes of the original films to rehashing Dark Empire.
-
Odds on that scene of evil Rey just being a dream sequence? Or a clone?

50 to 1. my money is on force vision
-
50 to 1. my money is on force vision
Yeah my money also is on Force Vision, runner up is a clone.
I'm more curious about the Star Destroyer Armada…That an insane number of them.
Also they are all old school Empire models and not the new First Order ones. I found that very intriguing.
-
That lightsaber reminds me of that thing you use to crush walnuts/crab claws.
-
This works scarily well.
-
New Episode 9 trailer is out.
-
Already bought tickets for opening night
-
…are they going to kill Threepio now?
I mean, everything with Leia is already going to be stock footage so I have no idea what they do there but cripes.
-
Well, if they're gonna kill off characters I guess now would be the time to do it.
-
So much for killing the past.
-
So much for killing the past.
So much for the villain's ideology that even he couldn't stick to for more than two seconds and that the hero never supported in the first place and that the previous hero was convinced was the wrong way to go.
-
So is this film just going to pretend that Kylo Ren didn't participate in the slaughter of billions of people or is it going to do something really stupid like have that be erased by time travel like Rebels did for Ahsoka's death?
Rey should kill him but I doubt they have the balls for that. Of course, seeing as how the previous films were partial remakes of the OT, they might as well just have Ren sacrifice himself killing Palpatine again.
-
After watching that trailer again it looks like the leaks I've read are real.
-
So…who was snoke then? What was the point of that character?
-
Snoke was the new count Dooku.
-

I bet you it'll just be a cheap joke.
-
@uniaka:
Snoke was the new count Dooku.
Oh shit, you right lol. I hope the leak I read turns out to be right. It wouldn't salvage the new trilogy, but it would be acceptable.
-
probably the Star Wars film people are less exited to watch, ever.
-
Meh, I'm not even going to watch the trailer. Also not going to watch the movie. Lucas story group be damned, but I feel that the first two films are sorely missing a single voice to anchor the plot and after almost 2 years of contemplation, I know that I'm not at all interested in continuing on. After the mediocrity of Solo, I doubt I'll want to watch any of the side films either. Here's my, sure to be controversial, ranking:
1. Empire
2. New Hope
Power Gap
3. Revenge
4. Return
5. Phantom Menace
Power Gap
6. Rogue One
Large Power Gap
7. Attack of the Clones (It's a bit better than I rememberd, but has shitty pacing and a weird ending)
8-9=Tied The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Forever intertwined, they exist together in my mind. I was willing to overlook the faults of The Force Awakens because I was so sure that its paths would lead to new and incredible horizens in The Last Jedi. They didn't. If I had to had to pick one, it'd probably be The Force Awakens, for having likable characters doing things I cared about at the time.
10. Solo, the peak of mediocrity in every possible way. Decent enough settings, but everything else didn't work for me. -
I'm so out of the loop. I thought Rian Johnson was supposed to be doing a new trilogy.
-

Yeah, just like Ben Affleck was supposed to direct The Batman. That's where that is at.

Different projects, different trilogies. Johnson's is still a go as far as I know, at least as of September, regardless of the reaction to Last Jedi may have scrapped that.
Kevin Feige (the Marvel guy) is supposed to do one too but he's super busy.
Also The Obi Wan show and Mandalorian are both coming.
-
Right, so Disney's still a go for cramming Star Wars into our skulls until our brains turn to jelly. Got it.

Three Marvel movies a year and coming up like 27 tv series. Why not do it with Star Wars?

‘Star Wars’ Setback: ‘Game Of Thrones’ Duo David Benioff & D.B. Weiss Exit Trilogy
okay i'm confused. is this a good thing or a bad thing?
-
okay i'm confused. is this a good thing or a bad thing?
If you were a fan of the Games Of Thrones TV Series while being a fan of the Star Wars Franchise good.
If your're someone whose bee paying attention to the issues that have surrounded the recent Star Wars projects also good.
-
okay i'm confused. is this a good thing or a bad thing?
If you are someone who watched the last season of Thrones and was confused by the Dothraki charge, then this is a good thing.
If you are someone who thought the Dothraki charge was an excellent strategic attack, then these events are a sad thing.
-
D&D are hacks without source material to guide them, so good riddance and let them shit out mediocore Netflix shows.
-
okay i'm confused. is this a good thing or a bad thing?
Its a good thing. They're showrunners whose only strength was having already good books to go off of. They were awful when it came to handling original material, even material that already had five seasons of bricklaying for them.
-
Things may be turning around for the quality of star wars it seems. I'll hold my excitement until I see tros though.
-
Kathleen Kennedy needs to go, that's my take away from all of this.
-

A lot of people have strong negative feelings about the last season of GOT and associate them to those 2 and therefore want to keep them away from franchises they love.
-

Bingo. They conveniently forget the 7 good seasons of the show. They are still the showrunners behind one of the biggest pop culture phenomenons in history, but again that's the internet these days.
To me Season 8 of GOT felt very rushed, and the finale episode was lack luster, but to lose top talent like this is a bad thing.
And the biggest problem to me is that Kathleen Kennedy keeps hiring directors/showrunners and keeps losing them.
Boba Fett Movie by Josh Trank, Fan4stic happened and suddenly they had creative differences and was let go.
Rogue One by Garreth Edwards, a lot of reports say about 50% of the movie was re-shot and not by Edwards but by Tony Gilroy.
The Last Jedi by Rian Johnson, that one was fine, but the movie itself got severe backlash. A new Trilogy of movies by Johnson was announced, but most feel that is in limbo at best.
Solo by Lord and Miller, that might be the biggest debacle yet. Ron Howard came in and practically re-shot the whole movie.
The Rise of Skywalker by Colin Trevorrow…remember that one folks? Yeah after The Last Jedi backlash, Trevorrow is out and Abrams is back in.
Now the GOT showrunners are in with a new trilogy...and now they are out and the new trilogy is scrapped. This is all on Kathleen Kennedy's watch.
The tv series seem to be running good, but the movies seem to be an even bigger mess than Fox and the X-Men and or Warner Bros and the DCEU pre-Aquaman.
-
Bingo. They conveniently forget the 7 good seasons of the show.
Naw, the show started going off rails in season 5 (incidentally when they ran out of books) people were just more forgiving at that point because they thought it was going somewhere and it still had the momentum of the earlier seasons. (And even during the book seasons there were problems.) But characters stoopped acting like themselves and teleporting around the map and making dumb decisions, and there were lots of plot contrivances and bad events and wasted potentials completely under their watch that were all awful.
It didn't suddenly turn bad in season 8, that was just when it ran out of time to get good again or payoff what it had started, and so the problems couldn't be forgiven anymore.
Once you know it doesn't improve or pay off anything all the flaws jump out much more starkly.
Ironically, had they just also had a season 9 and stretched out the story beats from season 8 over a slightly more natural span, it might have held together a little better overall
Now the GOT showrunners are in with a new trilogy…and now they are out and the new trilogy is scrapped.
They jumped ship because they got a 9 figure Netflix deal, and working on a Star Wars trilogy would be a huge thing on their plate until 2026.
Losing as many other directors as they have though, yeah, the system isn't running on all cylinders.
Why they don't just get Dave Filoni, the man whose run all the tv shows for the last ten years, I don't know.
-

Animated is a different set of skills than live action. Running a studio is different than directing a show.
That said he IS cutting his teeth working with Faverau on The Mandalorian so we will see.
-

I completely disagree. She has the experience and pedigree to run such a franchise.
The biggest mistake she made was to let the directors do their own thing with minimal interference from her.
In comparison, Feige requires all marvel directors to follow a certain plan so that the universe remains cohesive. She just needs to change her strategy.
Unless you have a stronger argument as to why she should go.

Well maybe letting her go is too strong a punishment, but it seems like she keeps making the same mistake when hiring directors. When you are the head of the operation you get credit for sucesses, but also have to take some blame for the blunders. I think the hiring and vetting process for directors has been a huge blunder on her part. The track record since she took over is mixed at best. You're right it seems like there is no plan or worse a creative direction for these movies. That needs to change. Creative difference issues should be worked out before the person is hired. Not midway through filming a movie.

Yeah I completely agree.
I think she just needs to change her strategy going forward, and I think that's part of the reason they brought in Feige.
But as far as being able to run a franchise, I still think she's more than qualified.

Anyone watch the first episode of the mandalorian? I liked it alot
! only thing I didn't like was the whole taming of the alien creature, it felt unnecessary and it wasn't intresing
! but holy S**T a baby Yoda!! is it a clone or just a baby from the same race? can't wait to see where this goes, I imagine the baby Yoda will be the river Tam of this series -
Why the hell is Herzog in this series ? is he a fan ?
About the episode, I'm no fan of the franchise so I didn't like it. Maybe I'll just drop this show after this episode, I don't know.
! Although I liked how the Mandalorian didn't kill baby Yoda and showed empathy. At first I thought the character was gonna be a complete psycho
edit: Apparently, he's just in the show because of the "jungle" vibe of the show or something like that. He said he hadn't seen any films so he ain't a fan.
Jon Favreau approached you directly for “The Mandalorian.” Why do you think he had you in mind, and why did you say yes? I think there are two reasons: One, he has seen some of my performances as an actor and is completely convinced that I should be part of his new series. Second, I think it’s a bit of an homage to my films and to my storytelling and to my way of putting emphasis on world stories, fever dreams in the jungle, quasi-science fiction stories. I think he sees a kindred spirit in me.

Wow I'm surprised there's not more comments on this thread about the new show
-
I loved the first two episodes. The western atmosphere is fun. The main character is interesting and the main story has me hooked. I'm all on board.

Sounds like JJ ignores TLJ they truly had no idea what they were doing with trilogy.
-
TLJ was so horrible that I lost all interest of seeing last movie, plot of movie was leaked months ago and apparently leaks were confirmed…
I might see this movie when it comes to netflix or rental...if I get bored enough
