Did you jump straight to the last post in the thread without reading the one by ScotchInformer? XD
…Yes. It was more eyecatching in my defense.

OP is getting a new series director and character designer. Any word on if this will be a good change or not?
No problem lol
It is a great change. More reasons on why have been discussed in detail on the previous page.
Hm. Wasn’t a ton of detail, but it sounds like folks appreciate the changes. M more curious about the creative director changeup. Don’t care much about the character designer, and I’m not sure I love the new designs shown so far. The characters feel a little more stout and their faces simplified.

Its a good thing. The character designer hasn't changed over in ten years, and the new series director is known as a work horse.

Have you seen the previous character designs?

Small, unfocused sample but the general point is detail really isn't an issue, neither is really the lack in a design(speaking of which, the designs are fine anyway detail wise, so I don't really see the issue, if anything, its just slightly more in line with the styles from the movies).

Sue me, but I like the character design you’ve posted here way more. The new ones are very rounded and look simpler to me. That said, if it’s a question of character model consistency, maybe they’ll be more consistent with a new designer? Dunno.
Good to hear the new CD has a good reputation.

Being rounder and simpler is precisely the reason I prefer them, not to mention the feature placement in that front on Luffy shot is terrifying, his eye placement(where the eyes are really far apart) makes him seem to be staring into my soul and its freaking me out and everything just feels more bulbous and not in a good way. The difference isn't that big, but its certainly noticeable….
Either way the new character designer is more in line with the style from the movies character designs, which is really what Oda prefers...
More Wanokuni character designs from Jump!!!
I hope they will deliver for more than just some key episodes.
But it sure looks promising
Sanji <3
I forgot how much I missed Nami with shorter hair, even if it's in a ponytail.
I think her best long hair look is still whenever she has it in a high ponytail.
Why does Choppe have to be green?
O-tama and Law in Wano!
New Wanokuni character designs in HQ from Weekly Shonen Jump!!!
Weird. Usopp and Kinemon’s noses are bigger.
Interesting color scheme for Tama :ninja:
New PV
Seeing major animators on this show with the new filter is awesome. Katsumi ishizuka's art is even more striking than it usually is.
Again no sneek peek at anime raid suit Sanji

Thats in the second act, and we're only showing stuff from the first episode, so its a bit of a way away.
Is this the first time the anime and manga have been on the same arc, for at least a few years?

Not really I would think…
They were on Whole Cake together for over a whole year from 2017-2018, so no.

The better question should be, besides Zou and Reverie, when was the last time the anime has started an arc right after it ended in the manga?
Wano Character Designs by Matsuda !!

Wano Character Designs by Matsuda !!
Wait a second. Kanjuro's scabbard isn't red. So much for that title!

New Pics !!
High quality pics
So what do we know about when the new theme song will premiere?
So what do we know about when the new theme song will premiere?
I don't think we know anything. Assumptions were made about it starting alongside the Wano arc but Whole Cake Island didn't start with a new opening.
Wano would've made sense as it seems to be a total refresh of the anime. But we'd probably have known by now if it was changing for the start of it.
Watch it get all ruined by the pacing somewhere around the midpoint.

Hoping they genuinely use the acts to create some spacing between the parts…
New Opening by Hiroshi Kitadani, called Over The Top !

Pretty sure we've recieved confirmation about the new opening starting 892 at the "start" of Wano.
Thanks to SpyTrue !!

Well, we have now. :P
I was really hoping for a Jam Project opening this time.
New Jump scan in HQ.
Sounds like something from the Pokemon games.
