Dynamax… I really like this mechanic as a way to have strong bosses (like, you know, how when it was called Totem). That said, not really a fan of the idea of trainers having access to it.
But who knows? The battles do look exciting with those giant monsters there, so maybe I will want to use this one (unlike Mega and Z-moves, which I made a thing to never using the playthrough). -
Random encounters are gone... not sure how I feel about it, I like random encounters and feel like they are a need in a game that focus exactly on finding the "monsters" rather than simply using them to gain EXP like in regular RPGs. Also, playing the LGPE demo I felt like the maps looked ridiculous filled with 30 different pokemon roaming around. Felt like it could work but only it was less crowded. Oh well, let's see how it plays out.

The official site is updated with info on the new pokemon and finally a bit more on the starters
-- I liked all the new non-legendary pokemon. Wooloo (Normal) particularly, the thing is too adorable and I want it in my team right now although the braids make me feel like it may evolve into a sheep Lopunny. Drednaw (Water/Rock) looked great as well, not too cartoonish, just the right amount. Not a fan(EDIT: looking at the artwork, I take it back. It looks amazing) of Corviknight (Flying/Steel) design, even though I was do hoping they would introduce a less cartoon raven/crow than Murkrow, but I love how RPG it felt in the trailer with its "fast travel" function. Gossifleur/Eldegoss (Grass) are ok, Eldegoss name sounds great and James Turner seems to agree.
– Oh boy, Grookey will evolve into a drummer, won't it? The attacking animation has it hitting the ground and the extra information on the website keeps talking about it.
-- The legendary wolves, though... they look BAD. Really. Damn! I suppose Zacian looks better, at least it can drop that sword I guess. The site doesn't say its or Zamazenta (what is this name?) type, btw. -
The human characters seemed good enough. I always love some grandma characters, so obviously I liked Magnolia instantly. Good detail she and Sonia have the same twirling habit. Leon and Hop look good, but I hope we'll get a non-friendly rival as well (the trailer mentions Hop is one of your rivals, plural). Leon seems too much of a perfect guy to be real, so maybe the first villainous Champion. And lastly, Milo is carrying 6 pokeballs... could it be the day has arrived?

The game is looking good in general, I was excited watching the trailer. Need to watch in HD, though.

Last thing, I don't like the UI.

One extra information the Direct didn't mention: Rotomdex is back. Except now it's Rotom Phone and the dex is an app: https://swordshield.pokemon.com/en-us/gameplay/about-pokedex-rotom-phone/
