Fukaboshi is pretty damn smart or he somehow feels the pain of the travelator's slaves ?
Chapter 906: The Holy Land Mary Geoise

I like Vivi.
I like that double thumbs up page
I am way more intrigued by that man then by the man than by the hat. I'm guessing his second poster is from Shanks back when he had the strawhat.
At this point with his family, the D, the hat, his mentor, Whitebeard's Omen and the confirmation there's a set future by Shirley I doubt anyone that isn't convince Luffy is special will be convince now. To me it's par for the course.
They should lock Shirahoshi somewhere. She's gonna reveal there country is associated with pirates. Even the dwarves bother to stay hidden.
It's a small thing but I really appreciate that the non important kings aren't just rabid racist to the mermaids.
With Wapol pensive look I think he just pieced together that Vivi was at Drum with the strawhats and will reveal it.
I am surprised Sai made it in time.
Kureha is rocking that shirt. And she needs a damn bike. Her getup is to perfect for her not to get one. But why is she here? And aren't Lapans wild animals?
Someone needs to stuff Carloss in a closet.
So 7 days uh? that's great
Mari Geois= Mother of Jesus + French for high class and rich AKA Holy land + Place of the highest people?
On this one I don't think the romanization is a guess from Oda.
-
Luffy can sense Haki on others. He did it in Punk Hazard when Law asked about the present Haki users.
even if that's the case they are not even in the same room at that moment
-
but that's the thing, in the translations I read he doesn't say 'must be'.. he just asks 'she uses observation haki?' and the prisoners answer with 'haki?' like his guess is wrong and/or they don:t know what he is talking about.
In the official translation 'Haki' is deliberately misspelled to show that the prisoner does not know what it is.
-
I like seing Doffly. He sucked as a villain but I enjoy the character itself.
-
Funny my first reaction was that this shadowy figure is a woman, not a man. We will see…..LUFFY's MOTHER CONFIRMED !!!
-
I enjoy Vivi's outfit. Rebecca's looks like someone from a flwer field commercial. Sai's is awful.
I also love Cigar guy.
-
Interesting how different Vivi and Rebecca look when they’re next to eachother. The three princesses interactions is all I could ever ask for from this chapter. But Oda being based as he is, gave us some Doflamingo on top of that and what is definetly not going to be an important future plot detail.
-
is that the official translation? in the ones I read it was always posed as a question, not as an affirmative…as in, luffy thinks is observation but we have no confirmation, and in fact the prisoners answer to him like they don't know what he is talking about.
I dunno, I just pulled up the image real quick. There's another translation someone else posted anyhow. Regardless, there's no reason to have Luffy say that, and not definitively confirm that he's wrong later on if he actually was mistaken. As a result, given his statement (and to a lesser degree Sabo's), as well as seeing Rebecca's feats, I don't see why anyone would think she doesn't possess it.
Fukaboshi is pretty damn smart or he somehow feels the pain of the travelator's slaves ?
Well, he's proven himself to be a fairly perceptive guy, so I guess it's not that surprising that he feels that something is off.

The translator should have gone for "something is fishy"
-

He did interact with her before. Could have sensed there.
It's likely he knew she had Haki, but not which type until Gatz confirmed that she was great at dodging.

4Kids PTSD flashback whoosh
-
It was explicitly stated that she was using observation haki while in the colosseum.
Can you provide a link to a panel with the word haki written on it. Because I'm pretty sure there isn't.

He posted it on the previous page of the thread.
-
Honestly, I'll be a little disappointed if someone wears that hat and destroys Fishman Island because I've been waiting since forever for Luffy to do it. But it would explain a bit… I wonder if that hat that Luffy wears was modeled after the one in the chapter. Like it was a treasure so they made one just like it or something?.. idk
-
I would find it ridicoulous if suddenly Shirley's vision become unreliable.
This chapter thread is going rapidly into madness. Much quicker than usual.
-
By the way, I did expect Columbus to be a little girl, or at least someone small.
If only because her name indicated that she would be little to her father/Captain's big.

I assume he can feel the pain of the slaves and nobles victory.
-
The three princesses interacting was so sweet. And then Dalton joins in too!
So much good stuff this chapter. We even got a glimpse of Doffy.
-
Joyboy's straw hat it is.
-
Luffy coalition meeting was quite nice and established very quickly.
Best parts were Shirahoshi turning down her suitors and Leo meeting Sai like what´s up bro?My reaction to the last page was "What the hell!!!"
For some reason this reminded me of Neo in that room towards the end of Matrix…not really a fan its implications, although it´s probably the most surprising and weird scene in this manga that I can recall right now after seeing all those known characters interacting with each other (something expected), and that´s a good thing.A hidden figure holding Luffy´s bounty poster entering a frozen castle, opening a vault with a large strawhat inside. Just wow.
-

This post, guys, in case you didn't find it through everyone else pointing you the right way yet, it's in this post.
-
the frozen castle seem to have several alcoves, so it s possible that the giant strawhat is not the only thing down there
-
This running gag where Rebecca asks people if they like Luffy needs to continue somehow.

Could make for a beautiful moment with Garp where he has a humorous, internal-conflict answer.

Garp will never have conflict to that type of question. "That's my grandson for ya".
-
I can tell the figure at the end is a lady wearing some sort of veil.
Besides the obvious crown.
-
Either the strawhat is alive or there's something under it. Think about it, why would the shadowy figure visit with news of the world if it was just an inanimate object?
My current theory is that there's a being underneath the hat (Uranus maybe, if Poseidon is alive so can the other weapons) and that said being is a fan of Luffy's. He has asked the shadowy figure for updates on the crew and built the strawhat itself to express its admiration for Luffy.
-
Wait for Joyboy full name reveal, Monkey D. Joyboy.:ninja:
It makes sense that mary geois is the ancient Kingdom, and that straw hat is joyboy grave.
-
Just popped in to say that Kureha is awesome as ever.
And Doffy <3
Got to love Chopper's bounty reference on her shirt.
-
Boring chapter IMO, 16 pages of Luffy fanboys/girls. Last page was the only thing redeeming the awful chapter.
-
@Little:

Oh right, that moment when he heard Luffy was in Impel Down. I forgot about that lol.

Page 11 mate
Her eyes are not misaligned, look at her smile; Rebecca's head is slightly tilted while Vivi's isn't. That's not bad art to tilt one head and not the one next to them.
What if the celestial dragons want to destroy luffys reputation with the strawhat? Wasnt there a saying in the OPverse that Luffy was 8m tall? So now we will have someone with that strawhat whom is big, 8m maybe, and that person destroys fishmen island. On the other hand, why should they care about his reputation rather than killing him. They have reason to be angry at Luffy
The hat does look quite large if you scale it with the bounty poster and that person there. So it might be some 8m tall person that might wear the hat.
Didn't Usopp make up a lie like that? At some point he was talking with someone and trying to exaggerate how fearsome his captain is, saying he had xxxx ammt bounty (far higher than the 30 M at the time, but can't remember the ammt,if he said 50 or 500 thousand M) and he was 8 m tall…
or maybe she is just really good at what she trained to do?
kyros taught her how to dodge, it doesn't mean it s haki.. hell we have no sign that kyros knows haki himself, let alone him being able to teach it to her.
not in any translation i read
Remember that Suleiman and Orlumbus (both later joined the Grand Fleet), were well trained too but they fell to Hakuba while she managed to evade him despite the superhumanly fast speed
I feel that a normal person without haki or some super speed wouldn't be able to avoid that.
-
The treasure being a SH sure seems weird and gives plenty of room for thoughts.
Why is the place cooled down so much…to preserve the hat can´t be the only reason.
Also i wonder whoever was the owner of the hat, may have inspired Gol.D to wear a strawhat.
Knowing the technology exists to grant DF powers to objects, i think the strawhat having some important power is possible and might be the reason how Vegapunk was able to figure out the technique after studying the strawhat. -
I'm really enjoying this so far, it seems like Oda is using the arc to introduce new readers to the story while giving longtime fans lots of charming interaction between popular characters we haven't seen in a while.
That being said, the pages with the three princesses are hard to look at, not only because everyone looks the same but also because Shirahoshi and most of all Rebecca are such super flat characters.
Rebecca hater smh
-
Why people think the hat is big maybe the person is small :ninja:
-
The Strawhat that Luffy has is the one ot the former pirate king passed down to Shanks and to Luffy.
When Roger started out he was talking about turning the world upside down. He somehow found out before he started what the National treasure was and made a similar one to show the Celestial Dragons and the WG he knew what the treasure is.

Why people think the hat is big maybe the person is small :ninja:
Thats what i thought but then i saw the bounty posters.
What if it wasn't the hat but whats under the hat..:ninja:
-
What if it is the sandals luffy wears under the hat:ninja:
-
The trouble I am having with the hat revelation is that, if something or someone is under it, for it to work it needs to be something we already know, and are familiar with. Uranus wouldn't really work, unless it is something we have already seen without realising what it was. Poneglyphs are too big to be under that. A vivre card wouldn't really make sense. I can't think of other "core objects" in One Piece… so, well, maybe there is a devil fruit under the hat.
-
So I guess the hat is crown of the king ruling ancient kingdom in void century. Joy boy? Anyway, if it isn't just solely a war trophy from that era, then maybe it's also infused with DF power. In that case, what power does it hold?
edit: Maybe the hat is infused with will of founer(s) of ancient kingdom? As such maybe that's why the hat is preserved, because it cannot be controlled(it controls you instead) and maybe it can't be destroyed.

@.access:
I am seriously hoping for a brazilian themed king casually playing football as he dances samba.
Aaaaaaand here he is:
Close enough. It was a very pleasant chapter, but there wasn't really much for me to discuss (I wonder why Carue was looking so intently at Leo, though).
EDIT: Oh, right. I forgot something: wtf is with all those royal families trying to marry Shirahoshi with one of their sons? I can pass the citizens being excited with the prospect of meeting this beauty, but trying to marry her into your royal family goes completely against all the prejudice we were led to believe the merfolk suffer.
When the kings themselves want their royal blood mixed with merfolk, there is absolutely no way to believe in that narrative. I call a big incoherence here. -

I don't think the issue is with the head tilt. Looking closely at Rebecca's eyes, her right iris is slightly higher than her left iris (look at the whites between the iris and the upper and lower eyelids).
It's a very subtle difference, and I wouldn't fault Oda for something so minor, but it does create a rather noticeable derpface effect. -
Boring chapter IMO, 16 pages of Luffy fanboys/girls. Last page was the only thing redeeming the awful chapter.
This chapter was completely necessary. If Oda would just have skipped all of these characters meeting, the fan complaints would have been unbearable. For a long time fan, it was pretty cool to see all these characters from different arcs throughout the story showing up and interacting with each other. I guess you also hate chapters that just show old characters reacting to new bounty posters?
I was also surprised how well I was able to tell Vivi, Rebecca and Shirahoshi apart from each other. Did anybody else expect Karoo to try and eat Leo?
-
Enjoying the character interactions a lot, they're just like I expected. I'm grateful not all royals are jerkasses, too (and I hope Ham Burger gets some dialogue, I love his design). Story implications aside, the last page looks beautiful, I love its composition. The shadowy figure looks pretty eerie. I'm also loving Orlumbus' story, it makes sense Columbus would be a little kid; given the pun in their names.

Excuse me if am not in the mood to see awful characters of previous arc have their AA meeting reunion.

Why is Carue glaring at Leo as if he hates him?

That King/Queen person looked like it came straight at Dark Souls.
