The entire Nassar, Michigan State, and the US Gymnastics team situation is just ugly. I wonder how much longer will Izzo is going to be coaching the basketball team since more stuff is coming about the school hiding stuff about the basketball and football teams. I recommend everyone to listen Aly Raisman's speech from last week.

Things are still shitty in Venezuela.
Lack of medicine, food, security and future keep eroding the hope of the Venezuelan people in order to make the Chavista government the "Father" of everyone, being the only way that the majority of the people have to eat, or being the sole employer of everyone, with the sole purpose of making any possible transition a risk that people don't want to take.
The government just used overwhelming force to crush the first armed resistance formed in Venezuela, the terrorist/freedom fighters used social media to make everybody aware that they were trying to surrender, but the militia and security forces used their resources (on them and not common criminals) to capture and execute them. Most of the bodies had headshots, no forensic investigation was reported. Compared with how Chavez who drove a tank to public offices, and held hostage and killed public television workers was able to surrender and put to trial, they make obvious the lie of "We are people of peace".
The illegally elected constitutional assembly still legislate instead of the lawmakers who were actually voted by all Venezuelans, without any progress shown on the new constitution, making it obvious that their job is to be the law instead of writing and following it.
The opposition is still divided, with the Resistance trying to herald the killed as heroes, holding on to the freshest corpse ignoring the 18-year-old backlog, mainly because these ones died with weapons of their own in the vicinity. Weapons that they most likely were unprepared to use.
While the moderate opposition shows time and time again that if they aren't outright traitors, they are completely unprepared to tackle the challenges of dealing with the government, and even less with any part of the rebuilding process. Taking the first conflict of ideas and interest as a sign to divide in the moments where the government is the weakest, but still stronger than them, instead of doubling down on unity and opening the discussion to the general population, making closed deals that seems to only favor the government in any timespan observed. Case in point regional elections were held in December, and most parties were denied the ballot.
The international community still being blocked by politics and the baffling actions of the opposition, while the government still sells our future to anyone willing to pay like a crack whore.
Presidential Elections have been announced for next April, with the unified opposition party being denied the ballot, forcing new hops and dances on the single parties, where some managed to get in, and some didn't. Take a wild guess on whom are the resistance calling treacherous. The resistance and the more confrontationist side of the opposition just want to boycott the election, but their plan is: Boycott >> ??? >> Freedom, Peace, and Prosperity.

The fact the bill actually made it that far is… problematic.
-
There are so many bills, way worst than this that made it this far and have been stopped by the president because of international pressure
! Reason why there isn't a genocide happening right now in europe is because france and/or germany still have decent leaders

The fact the bill actually made it that far is… problematic.
The bill is mostly alright. It explicitly excludes scientific research or even artistic expression and is meant to stop actual defamation. No one ever denied that some Poles did denounce Jews during the the WWII, heck one of the most famous families (Ulm family) who helped hiding them was denounced (and later massacred, children included, by Nazis; yes it was the punishment for helping Jews) by a Pole. Said Pole was later executed by Polish Underground State (yes that was the punishment for helping in the Holocaust). Talking about people like this will not be punishable. Same goes for Jedwabne. It's a manipulation. Phrases like "Polish death camps" are incredibly gross manipulation, so is trying to insinuate that Poles as a nation are responsible for the Holocaust. Especially that Poland had never any kind of collaborative government (contrary to France, Norway etc.) and the Underground State, as mentioned before, punished those who helped Nazis, we had institutionalized help for Jews (Żegota) and it was us who tried to inform the world about the Holocaust (Jan Karski's mission), Roosevelt and many others dismissed it. If denying Holocaust can be punishable, then I don't see why lying about the real culprits behind it shouldn't be.

Dialing back on my hate boner on communism, I always find funny that all the morality plays about wealth distribution are about candy or grades to a lazy person, never about food or welfare to a person that can't actually do the work.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/celebrity/mark-salling-former-glee-star-dead-of-apparent-suicide/ar-BBItYqQ?OCID=ansmsnnews11 I hope the people who are celebrating his death weren't the same people having a bitchfeast over the Logan Paul video.
Just because what he caught for was bad doesn't make it okay to just point fingers and laugh. That makes you a hypocrite.
That being said, he gets zero sympathy from me.
-
I won't laugh or celebrate his suicide, but I can't say I give a damn about a kiddie diddler dying.
-
His sentence was only going to be 4 to 7 years, so I guess he was looking at the long term prospects of his life going forward.
It's hard enough re-integrating ex-cons into society in the first place, let alone pedophiles.
Plus there would be prison attacks to fear, and maybe he even had burning personal shame after being caught.I just wish these people would seek professional help for their urges at a much earlier stage.
Control and re-channel those feelings. I acknowledge that finding someone understanding can be tough, but it's worth a shot. -
Controversial opinion about people who feel attraction to children:
It's something that we as a society we see so disgusting, that for anyone in the stages where they could search help they don't or can't, keeping these urges bottled up until they act on these fantasies, ruining a human life in the process.
Of course, once they actually do the deed they lose all sympathy from me and almost everyone.
Personally, I wouldn't want to be associated with someone who is a pedophile, even if they never acted on their impulses and even trying to reform. I couldn't handle the distrust that I'd feel for that person, or how nasty would it be to catch them eyeing a child.
-
Of course, once they actually do the deed they lose all sympathy from me and almost everyone.
Same here.
Natural attraction or not, everyone still knows what the laws are. They can understand right and wrong.
Breaking them is a conscious decision, and that decision comes with consequences. -
In a way, i'm happy he got off.
Obviously that was wrong and I never thought anyone would actually do it, but I totally understood where he was coming from.

I have never heard anyone, be they Nazi, Communist, or what have you ever allege that the "Polish death camps" were literally Polish in the sense of being run by Poland. Not in any wild misunderstanding, or any kind of kooky conspiracy theory. Saying "Polish death camps" is just locating them geographically.
I have an even harder time understanding how most people would ever make such an accusation when Poland as a state didn't even exist in that period.so is trying to insinuate that Poles as a nation are responsible for the Holocaust
And what about exploring the very widespread anti-semitism of Poland in that period? I mean in fairness aside from the Mediterranean and Scandinavian countries there was loads of that in most of Europe, so there's nothing uniquely Polish to this concept. But exploring that subject as a cultural element is forbidden now?
Especially that Poland had never any kind of collaborative government (contrary to France, Norway etc.)
lol don't lets pat ourself on the back too much for this. The Nazis never intended on there being any kind of independent or "independent" Polish state like they did with those other places. Poland was to be annexed entirely by Germany, eventually wiped clean of Poles one way or another, and repopulated by Germans.
Germany only set up or tolerated collaborationist governments where they did not intend to stay long term.
There would have been a Polish Quisling government otherwise. -
I don't think the law mentions the Polish people, but just the state and the government
Anyway, the too much liberal company –Apple-- is doing this

Contrary to popular belief the Nazis weren't out to take over the world or even Europe.
Dominate Europe sure, but take over no.
The only true annexation goals of Hitler were Austria, Bohemia/Moravia, Poland, and most of the European USSR. -
I do recall reading somewhere Hitler wanting the U.K. to come to his side since they fit his germanic purity, apparently. Well, minus the celtic descendants, of course.

And the Netherlands.
Y'know I thought this was wrong, but at a second glance I guess there was talk of eventually annexing the Netherlands so yeah. Probably because they considered you close enough to German culturally and linguistically.
That makes you the only example west of Germany (Alsace & Lorraine aside), congrats…!?--- Update From New Post Merge ---
@S.C.:
I do recall reading somewhere Hitler wanting the U.K. to come to his side since they fit his germanic purity, apparently. Well, minus the celtic descendants, of course.
Coming to his side =/= wanting to take over.
Hitler's main goal regarding permanently taking over places (as opposed to military occupations) had only a couple main ideas involved.1. REAL GERMAN CLAY: Basically any land considered to "belong" to Germany in any regard, either historically or because of a significant presence of ethnic Germans. Sure some of it was literally parts of Germany unfairly ripped off after WW1, but some of it not so much! Like it almost perfectly went in order that way. First you had Nazis taking stuff that you could kinda understand (remilitarizing the Rhineland), then you had annexations of another ethnic German country in a not very consensual way (Austria), then you had them tearing off pieces of other countries that happened to have lots of ethnic Germans (Sudentenland from Czechoslovakia), then finally Hitler took a place not populated by ethnic Germans because "it totally is ours because" (Bohemia and Moravia).
2. Generalplan Ost: Seriously though a huge major central part of the Nazi agenda was turning Poland and European Russia into a massive agricultural frontier colony for ethnic Germans to frolic in and breed like rabbits while farming. Which involved wiping out the native peoples one way or another. People get so focused on the holocaust that oddly enough the idea that Hitler was looking ahead to exterminate the Poles, Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, Balts and others basically from existence… has somehow not become common knowledge. Like they drew up percentages of ethnic groups they planned to kill/ethnically cleanse, and the percent they thought could be melted into the German gene pool without too much damage. Yikes!
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
One of many examples that the alt-right doesn't know anything is there simultaneous adoration of Hitler, and Russia. All and all you might as well adore Hitler and the Jews at the same time while you're at it.

Ugh. I recall my great-grandfather being in the German Army in WW1, as the part of current-day Poland he lived in was ruled by Germany and he was drafted at gunpoint. The thought of him never leaving for the U.S. after the war and staying and subsequently risking falling prey to the Nazis is chilling.
-
In the long term they "planned" to take over the world
The somewhat german clay was just a priority.I recall reading somewhere that Himmler (probably him if I recall right) said in a speech to the SS "what you're doing right now, we will do it a hundredfold after the war"
And also other stuff like that. -
Man it feels weird to hear countryball lingo in a discussion about death camps and nazi world conquest

I'm sorry but I don't think Sweden actually gets to be part of Europe if it doesn't have SACRED CLAY somewhere that deep down it wants or misses. This is basically the first rule of being part of Europe.

That would be Finland and/or Norway. But mostly Finland
But it's more the wording clay. Not land, or territory, but the gieb clay wonky phrasing that gets me.

I think it's supposed to sound like vainglorious patriotic speeches and songs.
Like "SINCE TIME IMMEMORIAL OUR BRAVE PEOPLE HAVE CHERISHED THIS BEAUTIOUS LAND OF PLENTY, OUR SACRED CLAY. AND THEN THEM BASTARDS TOOK IT." -

Quebec: This romantic nationalism stuff is just tops!Once again, sarcasm fails to translate over the internet… To be clear, what I meant was precisely that nationalism is a plague on mankind.
I mean, I am all for the freedom of peoples rather than the tyranny of a state. We need societies sure but nation-states are often pretty awful in enforcing their wills over other nations and even minorities in their own countries... all for the sake of some patriotic bullshit.
That's why I see the EU as one of the most beautiful entities and hope that the process of federalisation and expension will increase rather then increase. For all of our sakes.

Hopefully the Supreme Court can move its ass fast enough and rule on the Colorado case so that this sort of nonsense stops completely.
"A wedding cake is not just a cake in a Free Speech analysis. It is an artistic expression by the person making it that is to be used traditionally as a centerpiece in the celebration of a marriage," Kern County Superior Court Judge David Lampe wrote.

Why….....................
Why not?
Sure, I'd probably go for humankind, but it's actually a good point.
Just like the canadian anthem was recently changed to be gender neutral with "in all thy sons command" now officially replaced with "in all of us command."
I'll admit those kind of things kind of make me proud of Canada despite it's numerous failings. There is a reason there is a CORRECT in politicaly correct…
On the other hand, religious charities leave me VERY uncomfortable to be honest… I mean, the religious part of it is just plain endoctrination of vulnerable people.

The video shows why Trudeau is somewhat popular. Despite his incompetence on many layers, he has a liberal rhetoric

It seems he was just fooling around. -

"How dare they mess with my fragile masculinity!"
Fun fact: ~~50% of the population is female. What's the problem with changing words that came from an age when women didn't have the same rights?

I think "wo-men" is a sexist word, it has a biblical connotation. It suggests that women are coming from men, or/and that they're depended from men (/exist for men). I suggest you to change that word somehow, like create another word or steal one from another language (this is usually how it works). Take femme for example
I mean, Nitwit just said "why", you don't get to call him anything for that.
btw, mankind is basically short for humankind. kinda

Fortunately for women everywhere, I don't think someone who's close mindedness views that get them banned from various threads has the authority to make such judgement calls.
If women do decide the word "woman" is sexist, that's their call. And I'm sure the same close minded people who have a problem with it now will still have a problem with it then. Luckily, it seems those people are a dying breed
Oh, I'm sure Nitwit's "why….............." was a question and not a statement of negativity
I also suggest you look up etymology and stop making baseless statements on the origin of words.
-
Fortunately for women everywhere, I don't think someone with French views that got banned from 2 american threads (and is about to get banned for good anyway) has the authority to make such judgement calls.
wow, that's so salty.
There was nothing mean in my post. wtfAnd I don't get why this has anything to do with women or whatever. You're just making a crazy ad hominem statement. watabout my reputation dude?
I wasn't even serious with "wo-men" being somewhat sexist. Which is why my first paragraph was followed by "I mean, Nitwit just said "why", you don't get to call him anything for that."edit: Also, that's not even funny how I'm close-minded because I said "asexuality doesn't exist beside sexual orientations, but inside them". And btw, I'm not getting banned for being "close-minded" but for being a douchebag (/when people gang up on me, lol)
I also suggest you look up etymology and stop making baseless statements on the origin of words.
Like what words?
And I'm not making a statement about etymology, what the heck
Like read the whole post, there is a context and all. "_it has a biblical connotation" and after that I'm saying other things.
But as I said, my first paragraph was ironic. Just calm down.Even Trudeau was joking!_

Well, the fact that you're the one you brought the video of this non-news to this thread certainly speaks of intent.
The only people who bring such insignificant stuff up are anti-political correctness, that is, awful people…
I don't mean we always have to be politicaly correct, but criticising people for being so is pretty damn nocive.
-

I already said why I brought up this video. And yes it is a random news, it has been debated here and there, and even hit the French news.Being anti-political correctness doesn't mean being in anyway a conservative or whatever else on the right. But it's not even the reason why I brought this up (again!).I'm all about changing words and all. For instance, I think what the Swedish church does by using gender neutral terms to refer to God is a good thing. And thegab wasn't even referring to the video

It's NOT news, it's a random joke picking some fun about a random religious dimwit who showed up at some event and tried to make a STUPID point about some random religious charity…
Then you have right wing media overinflating what is basicly nothing while trying to discredit the PM (if only a tiny bit)...
AND, I'd say that complaining about CHANGING WORDS (conserve the old ones if you will) for "reasons" IS "conservatist"... not that I think Trudeau was trying to coin a new word nefariously by saying it in the flow of a conversation (he did't go to the Webster dictionnary or anything, he just said it, once).
At worst, it was a brain fart...
-

Are we having a philosophical conversation about what a news is ? Does it even matter ?Because there have been far worst random news on this thread than this. And if there are articles about it, or the media talks about it–- it is a news ! Wether or not it's a dumbshit thing.I think I'm just gonna copy/pasta my post because people have probably missed why I'd posted this video in the first place@Nilitch:

Not really, just look at how the French language dropped the rule of proximity (règle de proximité) during the 18th century. And no one is complaining about changing words anyway (I don't why you're telling me to "conserve the old ones" if I want… ---I really don't care) .

Sorry, I misread your other post as the reason for posting the video being about changing words when you litteraly said the opposite.
Still, why the hell would you repost such an insignificant video anyway if it wasn't somehow about criticising political correctness or whatever.
Anyway, my main point is that just reposting the video without context seems like a baseless (if feeble) attack on the PM…

The Swedish church does what now? I must not have been paying attention back home
