So I finally watched Justice league yesterday and I really enjoyed.
I think the movie tried very hard to course correct many things with decent/good result in most cases.
The movie truly explore Superman, Batman, Wonder woman and Cyborg. Flash show some good potential for a solo movie. And Aquaman didn't drag the movie down.
My favorite of the group was Diana but I am biased. Batman fighting style have suffered.
Spectacle was good, plot was generically vagueish, villain was direct from the factory of standing villain. But considering I came only caring about the chracter not so much the plot I enjoyed it a lot.
BvS didn't earn the death of Superman but this movie earned the first after credit scene and I am even interested and what is setup with the second after credit scene.
! - Beginning of the movie really felt like exposition and Batman knowing a lot of stuff for no good reason. I mean how does he know about Atlantis? Altough I guess you could put that on Bvs but still.
! -I really enjoyed Wonder Woman first scene but what the hell was she doing on top of that statue on broad daylight? It was just weird. Everything that followed was great from her tagging an automatic weapon to her"I am a believer" answer.
! -The backstory of Steppenwolf have me torn. in one hand I liked the idea that they confirmed a lot of the usual lore but at the same time that much for Steppenwolf makes them fairly weak individually I think. Anyway, Stepenwolf arriving on Themaschra made me realize how much better it would be for the scene if the amazons were more competent back in Wonder woman movie. Some sequence of that scene did work tho. However the raid underwater was more interesting I think since he faced a more credible threat there.
! -The first action piece I enjoyed but it happened so early that the movie constantly felt as if it was about to end. I was worried they would have Wonder woman job to Steppenwolf so I was pretty relieved she was able to hold her own in a fight at least for a moment. I really like that moment where Flash is panicking and Bruce tell him he doesn't have to fight he just need to save one person. Really good moment. I also like the little air realization after he saved his first person and continue to do so.
! -Deciding to resurrect Superman happened pretty fast. I though it would take a couple more hardship before or that he would be only at the climax but nope. And seriously it feels like that plot was swapped placement wit the action scene or something. It's kind of like you get the original prequels of star wars with the cool story and shooting lasers so that you can when you see the real beginning of the boring political stuff.
! -Superman beating on the Justice league was an interesting sequence. I like that Diana wasn't sent flying as opposed to Aquaman and that she was able to at least head butt the guy. Although I wished we had something similar to thor and Hulk where they rival each other with Diana showing how she is a better warrior while Superman has more powers(flight, lasers). But going for the idea of Big gun I get why they would not want that. It's a personal thing.
! -Greatest moment in that beatdown tho is definitely when he is after the Flash. His sheer terror when he realize that such a monster is on similar time as him is just perfect and truly the kind of reaction I would expect for someone used to being safe on his time sphere. The way he crashes all over the place and panic when pushing him doesn't work is great.
! -The effect on the Flash power were great. You really feel the explosive nature of his speed and I like the whole you see him move and the result. Really felt like a living bolt of lighting all time. As a character he showed some pretty good potential. His father, his powers, his new job…I am also pretty sure to have heard a dash of The Flash CW show on his theme which is awesome if I am not inventing it. However they were numerous moment were his humor was to much. Like a dash too much of Marvel.
! - That movie had a looot of poster shots. Like a good 4-5 times I felt like they were posing for the future poster that will be selling
! -Funniest moment in the movie is definitely when Aquaman is talking on the car slowing getting worst and worst in his honesty before realizing they put the lasso on his leg. I particularily like when he is praising Diana and self-reflecting.
! -I know 2 Steppenwolf: the gray pathetic one from the animated universe and the human looking one from earth-2 in the new 52. So this one was to some level a mix of them but he looked like shit and the whole plot was vagueish and non-engaging. It was just some vague quest I gave zero damn about the plot and it was still seems pretty lazy BS.
! -I didn't hate the Batman of this movie. I find it weird how much he blames himself for superman when they didn't know each other that well but that was a thing at the end of BvS and they did a decent job for what they were doing. I appreciate that the one he is close with is Diana while he is simply trying to make ammend with Sups for now. When it comes to humor Batman is not the best choice I think. Batman saying he is rich for superpowers? Yes(with not to much smiling). The bleeding thing? Definitely no.
! -Aquaman was ok. He wasn't bad but wasn't great. He kept having those outburst of bro speech at some moments. I have to assume he was going to be only that but they changed it except the scenes already on the trailer. In terms of chracter he was probably the least interesting to me. Although his countryy might be cool.
! -Cyborg was a pretty good focus of the movie and they handled it well I believe. Had cool powers, handled his dialogue and moodiness perfectly in terms of person that is becoming a machine and resigning himself with it. He had scenes with Flash and Wonder woman and handled both well I believe. He definitely earned that fist bump with Flash at the hand(callback to refusing it at the grave).
! -Wonder woman was great. But I am bias to her due to her movie. I think she did good as a support for Victor helping him to not close himself to the world like she herself did. She has good chemestry with Batman and truly can feel respect between the 2 of them(I hope it doesn't become more) and her struggle to accept becoming an inspiration is one I was interested enough in to like her ending. I am really glad that she was not relagated to hype material and whiile she failed to dominate her opponents she also made sure to give them a good fight. It would be interesting if she became leader but I expect it to be given to Superman.
! -Sups did fairly good in this movie. The openning video already give a less brooding Superman although still a little stiff. But once he is back and past the beating the league up he truly feels like the classic or at least closer to it. He is more bright, he comes to help people with a smile and help to lighten the mood in the tense situation. I like his little race with Flash when saving people to help him with the stress and the payoff of the joke when he arrives late with a building is great. I like that he checks on everytime and try to help them. Although I would have preferred if Aquaman and Diana could hold their own against steppen and only needed Clark to tip it not straight up save. And superman joking about his death is definitely him taking a lighter approach.
! -The racing after credit was cool.
! -Lex seems to be building the injustice league. I was pomped to see deathstroke.
