His suggestion on how to fix the film… yeah, that probably would have worked.
Cut Batman, and just have Lex Luthor in that role. With all the charisma, muscle, and audience sympathy, played by Affleck, seeming played on the up and up as a goodguy with a legit point.
Obviously by repurposing Luthor into the Batman role, you then cut crazy weirdo Lex that the movie actually gave us.
It then works as an actual counterpoint to the problems from MoS and keeps us from having TWO rich billionaires trying to kill Supes. Gives a real proper viewpoint and convention turn of Supes and Lex being in different places than we're used to, and an actual point.
Also, Bob manages to nail why Watchmen was so off. It was a panel for panel remake, but the little things that were emphasized, or what was left out show that the point was missed entirely. The story was there, but the message was missed.
