Imo this fight quite dampens the relevance shonen logic has in OP.
One upgrade introduced shortly before and a second during the fight and neither got luffy the upper hand.
Not the best person to probably try to find relevance, but I think the same thing happened in DB during the Vegeta fight. A great deal was made towards Goku learning Kaioken and the Genki Dama, but he still essentially lost (though he did seem to be doing well on Vegeta prior to turning oozaru) and it was the assistance of Krillin, Gohan and Yajirobe to finally bring an end to Vegeta. (with Goku more on mental role towards the end) So maybe if Luffy does lose and someone else takes the final blow on Lucci, then at least he did his part. (but that's for next week…whether or not he stays down)

It was clear since LogueTown that Zoro would end up with one of the Saijou Oowaza-mono 12. The future best swordsman is supposed to own one of the worlds best swords (and of course a cursed sword that makes him cooler xD).
The new sword needs an arc for itself imo.

I didn't ask you, and I disagree, a sword is only as good as its swordsman, and a sword like funkfried (if Zoro realizes what it is) will own 100 captains in no time.

I thought his sword is not broken, but I guess it is. Now will Zoro stick with the marine sword he picked up?

No, that was an ancient sword he found in the sunken ship. He tried to unsheath it, but it was too old and broke.

Zoro got caught off guard by a guy whose sole power seems to be a direct counter to Zoro's techniques.
Captains =/= gods.
Zoro =/= pwned.
It just means the captains aren't pushovers, but that one scene doesn't prove that the SHs are screwed.
As far as length goes, you have to realize how little space they have been taking up in each chapter. Crocodile took far longer to go down, but you break each part into rounds. But with so much bias I guess you would complain even if Lucci clumsily walked away each time he dropped Luffy.
I'm not biased. I was diappointed with how it started, but I've loved everything about this fight until last week. Luffy v. Croc dragged to me, too, but Croc was a much better villan than Lucci, had more screen time, and was all the more deserving.
Basically Lucci's beating up the "quiet kid in the corner", so I can't see what the big deal is. All the talk of Lucci having "unique" moves is total bullcrack if what he does isn't interesting. Croc was great since most of his powers were varied; until the "shigan king" move, all of Lucci's were still slight variations on the Rokushiki. Way to make a mountain out of a molehill, AP.
So, in short, everyone should suck up that this fight is dragging and stop making a big deal about it's "coolness". It's a pretty filler fight and I'd much rather focus on escaping Enies Lobby than beating up the not-so-bad guy.

Also regarding the Luccy vs Luffy fight:
The last 2 chapters are dragging, but that's only because there isn't a break between the fighting.
Crocodile had 3 fights with Luffy (Enel had many as well) but there were breaks. This time the Lucci vs Luffy fight has had 3 different battle arenas (sort of) and they have both won one fight, with one fight being disrupted by the BC blowing up the arena.

That still goes by numbers. The sheer number of them all is what makes them dangerous. The only guy who actually did something was old news a few pages later, so again, the point of individual captain strength can't really be supported at the moment.

No thanks. It's awesome and brutal and Oda is obviously having a ton of fun drawing it, so, in short, you should stop telling everyone what they should and shouldn't enjoy.
I feel like the good old days when this forum was full of hate and satire/flaming again ^^ good times. Gotta love these chapters that actually advance story elements that people don't agree with (Luffy losing, Zoro's sword breaking), they tear the community to pieces.

Oda recognized that so he gave two of the CP9 Devil Fruits; clearly, he figured people would find the Rokushiki boring and decided to mix things up. In hindsight, there wasn't anything special about Fukurou's Rokushiki, but since he was the second fight of the CP9 everything he did was pretty interesting. The same goes for Blueno; his fight is meh in comparison to the other SH CP9 battles, but he was first so I'm weighing his battle more than the others.
Really, though; if Luffy did indeed lose, that means the fight's conclusion has been delayed yet again. How quaint.

Finally something good happens. Last few chapters have been "meh". IMO, the Lucci v. Luffy fight is decent, if not only for the excellent art, so I go with Terek on this. I care more about what the others are doing at the moment. I love Lucci and all, but he's pretty basic. I love the 200 captains v. strawhats tho. Easily the best thing to happen since the Luffy, Lucci fight. I do however like the fact that someone is able to go that extra mile against Luffy and not totally be owned in the final moments of the fight. Looks like ussop's gonna finally shine (maybe this will shut all the Ussop whiners up).
Of course none of the captains are at smoker's level because smoker isn't a captain anymore, he got a promotion for taking down crocodile. Now he's a Junshou?

Smoker's got a Logia class fruit, so I doubt too many captains could be simmilar to his level of strength, but that Rust Fruit user and the Ball Fruit user appear to be powerful contenders, at least for Zoro.
So Zoro lost a sword again. I think that the yu bashiri slot is gonna remain unfilled for a long time…I don't mean he won't have a sword, I mean that sword will always break until he takes Hawkeye's sword.

I think Zoro should have a really good forger make him a new sword, he doesn't need old legendary swords, he needs specially made (for him) swords that won't break and be able to handle his particular style of fighting.
So, who thinks the rust guy is down now? It would be out-of-characters for Zoro to move onto another opponent before finishing the one he's one, and he cut at least 3 guys in this chapter.
Btw, is the ball guy a logia? I mean look at him, him burst into balls as soon as he was it. What I'm saying is, if this guy is a logia, then pretty much anything in the future could be a logia.
10 bucks says Zoro jacks Tashigi's sword. (If it hasn't been said yet)
I'm pretty sure those two captains are just paramecias, if that was a logia, alot more emphasis would've been put on it.
A lot of us looked in the spoiler thread and thought the blurb about the fight ending last week was wrong. But…maybe it wasn't. I'd be disappointed that Luffy lost after all that, but that's what his character has become anyway and it was suggested more than once that Lucci would attack the crew.

Don't forget that Lucci is not really a vilain… he's mostly following orders. And his devil fruit makes him unique... kind of

I often do not get into such discussions, but this made me a little angry. So, since your opinion is supreme, everyone should just agree with you? Since when did God gave you the power to make decisions for everyone?
Really, I feel this fight is pretty cool. It is a little too long yes, but it is cool and has its reasons to "drag" so much. The fight is not even the main event of most chapters where it is featured. Of all chapters where Luffy and Lucci were fighting, maybe two or three were centered on the fight. All others were all about the story being developed. So I don't mind that this fight is so long.
But why am I even giving attention to you? You are just saying that everyone should agree with you. FIne, I won't say anything besides that you may like this fight or not, but other people like it, and your opinion is not any more valid than anyone else's.
Wano predictions: There will be 5 acts; All Straw Hats will get fights, some in Act 4; Big Mom Pirates will arrive; Carrot will have her moment, but won't join; Yamato will be a Kouzuki samurai and Wano's Guardian; Shanks will visit Luffy in Act 5; Next arc is Mary Geoise.
Luffy is still in Gear 2nd, even while on the ground.

Uh, I would think so. Luffy v. Lucci is nearly eighteen chapters in length; Luffy v. Croc rounds one, two, and three were nine total. Croc was also a much less boring villan than Lucci, so this fight has been a total and utter waste of time.
lol, One Piece on par with Naruto, are you serious? A fight between two secondary character in Naruto took 20 chapters (and I'm talking about Sakura here).

God forbid anyone who compares Naruto to One Piece. You should never question or dislike anything that happens in One Piece.(sarcasm) Must all One Piece fans bash everything not One Piece. I mean the One Piece community is SUPPOSED to be more mature than that, but I guess not. Anyways, obviously Zoro is gonna go looking for a new sword after this arc. This is when I believe the Strawhats will meet up with Blackbeard. Also, I have never seen Luffy be put down like this by any non-logia user before, I wish this would happen more often, I know the main characters gonna win in the end, but its good to make it look like they can lose at anytime. I can't wait to see more of the 200 captains, easily the thing I'm most anticipated about. Also more importantly though, I wanna see what Sanji's doing, because I think he'll be the key to the Strawhats escaping.
Well, Oda sure seems to have created a feeling of suspense and excitement in the fanbase.
I'd say that this has been a rather successful arc, and it's not even done yet.

Yeah, I thought the same, but the size is inconsistent with a house, in the same cloud there are pineapples and if that is a house then it is a extremely small one.

If that is the case then franky shoud be bigger but an effort to hide it could explain why Oda made it smaller than it should be. So yeah now I'm thinking again that he's franky.
