I think the memberberries are supposed to be a parody of the alt-right conspiracy pushed by leftwing media, in the same way that Mr Garrison's actions are a parody of the absolute worst things Trump could do. It's a little weird to see a parody of The Godfather talking about Nazi Stormtroopers, but Italy was an axis power.

Yeah, the finale to last season didn't exactly have a stellar ending either. Though this time around I have to wonder how much of it was due to Trump's election messing up their story plans.
I didn't think it was too bad, especially since I kind of already anticipated that they wouldn't be able to wrap everything up with the time they had left, but…yeah, them straight up dropping the member berries subplot was pretty distracting.

Trump won. The new Star Wars movie is one of the best-selling movies of all time. Last episode had Kyle talking about how this wasn't the South Park he knew with dealing with trolls every week. Memberries won.
Basically, apart from Lennart Bedrager, all the bad guys in this season ended up on top. Cartman did not get exposed for his obvious bullshit, Mr. Garrison is still president, the Member Berries still have control, Gerald gets to stay happily married… And of course the first thing done on the "new internet" was send a dick photo so nothing has changed for the better at all.
I suppose we will see how this'll go next season. Though I do hope that they back up a bit from their newfound storytelling approach. Like, I guess making the whole season one big story was the logical next step after seasons 18 and 19 had a stronger sense of continuity, but... can we have individual episode plots again please?

At the moment. It'll obviously get screwed up next season with Cartman going back to being horrible again.
Finally saw the newest season, watched it all in one go. And the verdict is meh.
Felt like the plot for a weak to okayish episode was stretched out for an entire season.
It's pretty clear Trump winning mucked up whatever plan they did have… if they did in fact have one. So its hard to judge really... but yes, this season arc stretched not as well as last season.
Last season they had standalone stories with an arc... this season is was just an arc, and it didn't work nearly as well. Though judging fromt heir own fourth wall comments via Kyle near the end they weren't too fond of how it turned out either.

so i guess this means we won't be seeing much of mr garrison or those memberberries next season.
If you actually look at the article, their point isn't that they're scared, but that the guy is doing so much crazy shit on a daily basis, they just can't keep up.
And I think that's fair. There's less comedy when the actual thing is already so over the top, but also frightening.
Also, it was a different matter when he was going to just be a forgotten joke by the time the season ended, gotta make use of that while they could… as opposed to an actual thing that's going to be around for the next four years.
Yeah. Even during the whole Bush administration, the number of episodes he shows up for is….under 5 or so? I would like them still doing something with Trump, but I don't think I'd like it to be a main focus over a season.

That was going to go for whoever won the presidency though. They had already signed up to do a show about the president before the elections.
They joked about suing Florida for delaying development of their show.

Team America was less about Bush and more about… whatever the hell it was.
The use of Bush as a joke character would have applied to any President at the time, though Bush did lend himself up more for comedy than Obama did... but that crosses over all the satire media.
Maybe they'll stick him in for a joke in the new game.

New season starts 9/13
Yay! Time for another season-long arc that'll start off pretty interesting, but ultimately be really disappointing.
Good episode tonight. The jokes about the flipping houses stuff were funny.
That ep was weird, even for South Park.
Oh yay, the show is back to being more serialized again while still having some continuity between episodes rather than dedicating the entire season to one massive plot. I was not entirely sure after the first episode because, well, tbh the ending just seemed random to me, but seeing how there were no White People Renovating Houses in this week's episode, clearly the days of the ten-episode story-arc that completely falls apart at the end rendering the entire season kind of a mess are in the past now.
That was the best episode of South Park we've had for a while.
! I loved how it got all meta at the end and everyone started speaking directly to President Trump.
This episode was more cathartic than a cartoon comedy should be. I've been where Tweek has been, and that end scene really clicked. I haven't watched the show in awhile but I think I'll start watching again

Well that was a interesting ending for this week episode. I did like the like the joke in the episode reminds me of a certain scene from South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut.
i liked that terrnece and phillip were old, as in this joke is getting old. its seems to be setting up a more episode finale for the season.
How are they even gonna end this?? Heidi has turned into Cartman and Kyle is responsible for Canada being nuked.
