Not to be the guy or anything but on the first point for all the trouble, feet dragging, and whatever else have you that's been
going on with Wonder Woman getting a tv show/movie just what exactly is Marvel doing with Black Widow aside from having her be the token female member in the first two Avengers movie and even Assemble. -

She's just a good spy with excellent colleagues. And we already have spy stuff and leading ladies in Agents of Shield, Agent Carter, Jessica Jones and that spinoff with Bobbi from AoS. I don't think a stand alone thing with her would add anything worthwhile to the franchise.

Let's conveniently forget there's a muslim Green Lantern (not to mention the black Green Lantern who's been there for decades) and a lesbian Batwoman while bragging about muslim Ms. Marvel (lol such an A-list title to inherit) and female Thor.
-
Ms. Marvel was at least Iron Man level (well, before the movies) of exposure.
And a Black Widow solo movie would be mostly a spy movie, not a super hero spy movie. Nat can carry a movie though, and Winter Soldier plot was as hard on her as it was on Cap.

A lesbian batwoman that isn't allowed by editorial to be married.
Though actually, none of their characters are allowed to be married anymore.
I wouldn't say DC's line was overall more diverse. DC was mostly white guys too. Marvel had the extremely diverse X-Men roster, Black Panther, Luke Cage, and over in Conan they introduced Zula as a long running black character, etc. Both companies had characters you could point to, but neither company was really great about it until more recently. They were both 95% white guys.
Having a green lantern be anything isn't much when there's a bajillion green lanterns… including baseball lantern and purple skin Sinestro and Killowog, but its always Hal Jordan (the most boring Lantern) they go back to anyway.

Marvel's characters aren't getting married anymore either. They quickly cancelled their only queer book once the EiC found out it stars a bisexual woman dating a trans woman (a month after the same EiC said Hercules is 100% straight despite on-panel evidence to the contrary and telling people to go read the great gay character Ultimate Colossus instead… Who was part of a universe that had just been blown up).

DC definitely started paying more attention before Marvel though, mostly because of the efforts of more women in editorial. In 2012, there was a point where Marvel wasn't publishing a single title starring a female character (and only one poc title), while DC at that point had spent years diversifying its line with characters such as Batwoman and Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle.
Plus, how much did Marvel actually exploit its diverse X-Men lineup? It spent most of the '00s killing and maiming all its pocs to the point that Tumblr newbs are now saying the Inhumans are a better franchise because it's more diverse. Black Panther was always sort of a token black title, Storm never got a solo series until very recently and Luke Cage was elevated because one writer loved him (once Bendis said goodbye to the Avengers, Marvel said goodbye to caring about Luke Cage).
Having a green lantern be anything isn't much when there's a bajillion green lanterns… including baseball lantern and purple skin Sinestro and Killowog, but its always Hal Jordan (the most boring Lantern) they go back to anyway.
How long do you think Marvel will go along with black Captain America (Steve Rogers has already been deaged and gotten his own Cap title) and female Thor (who has dying built into her character arc and Jane won't be in the next Thor movie, the ultimate kiss of death)? Ms. Marvel is the only one who will stay around because she's more popular than the character she replaced (and no, Carol is not on par with pre-movie Iron Man, nobody ever cared about her, besides mocking the stories where she gave birth to her own rapist or beat up a superhero in front of her daughter).
I'm not arguing that DC is tons better than Marvel (they're certainly worse now, though at least they're greatly distancing themselves from the DCEU, whereas it would be nice if Marvel's publishing division would show some independence again), but to say Marvel is some beacon of diversity and progressive politics, while DC consists of a bunch of clueless manchildren is disingenuous. Because both still have too many manchildren in the office (and DC has an open sexual harasser in editorial).

Apparently Steppenwolf is the rumored villain for JL part 1 because of a BvS deleted scene titled "Communion" (in spoilers below)
!
-
Yeah, when I think of great JL villains like Brainiac, Darkseid, Luthor and even Ra's al Ghul on a few occasions I immediately lump Steppenwolf in with them.
Hilarious if true

Ra's? It's funny how the JLA basically fight superman villain with a giant scale.
May they are using Steppen to get to Darkseid.
-
Who the fuck is Steppenwolf?
-
I just instantly get Magic Carpet Ride stuck in my head when I see that name.
-
Couldn't we just get one of the actually good Darkseid goons? Like Granny Goodness (who contractually must be portrayed by Ed Asner.)
-
He looks a lot more like Yuga Khan, Darkseid's father. How do we even know it's supposed to be Steppenwolf?
-
Nobody has told me who Steppenwolf is.

Nobody has told me who Steppenwolf is.
Well, if you insist…
Steppenwolf is one of the "New Gods" from Apokolips. He's Darkseid's uncle and one of his top soldiers.
-
I guess it's smart to go with that route instead of just jumping straight for Darkseid, but it all still feels somewhat rushed.

Same. Immediately what I thought of.

Aahhhhh. Thank you.

would you say he's a steppen stone

The most exciting parts about it is that it came from Margot Robbie's excitement and passion for the character and that Zack Snyder is not mentioned once in the report.

Why would he be?
-
He is involved with all the other DC movies, from producing Wonder Woman to handing out advice on Aquaman.
-
This would be awesome, if done well. And how awesome would it be if this movie were to include Poison Ivy in a major role?
-

Well so long as he's not writing or interjecting on the scripts or directing it should be fine.

Aqua Drogo needs no advice!

The fallout of BvS ripples continue . . . . all the way to the executive branch:

This is a damage control/PR move, and I think it's a bad one.
Geoff Johns is great when it comes to comics, he's spectacular in that medium, but he doesn't know how to make movies.
Feige was involved in the Raimi Spiderman movies, Xmen, X2 and Blade before he was handed the keys to the Marvel kingdom.

In stark contrast, Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Civil War is heading toward $1 billion in less than two weeks of release. The movie also pitted heroes against each other, but Marvel's lighter tone and bright colors (while tackling more serious themes) are clearly resonating with audiences. So Warners is attempting a course correction.
Yeah it's the tone and brighter colors that's resonating better with the fans not the better writing, direction, and somewhat better setup to the movie's titular conflict.
-
We now have a movie called 'Captain America' doing better than 'Batman vs Superman'.

Extra funny when you remember BvS was originally slotted to come out the same weekend, then Marvel anounced their Cap date, and DC backed off.

Back when this was still a fact, I was still working at the movie theater. And I probably would've had a global meltdown.

! Whatever they do wit the justice League first movie, I hope Superman didn't die so jokerLuthor will steal his dead body and create Darkseid out of it… with a drop of his blood. Heck, Flash cameo confirmed that superman could be the big bad in the next movie, can't keep my hopes up.
-
Superman making a heel turn is something that's been played with in various stories. As for the Darkseid thing that would be hella stupid.
-
Well now…
! Looks like Watchmen is now officially part of the DC Universe.
! Sounds like the kind of stuff Snyder would come up with.! Oh, and there's apparently 3 Jokers out there. How fun.

! You should also add that the whole thing is written to underline that the DC universe is going back to being about hope again. There's a meta message there about how the wrong lessons were learned from Watchmen and they're now dropping that dark and gritty idea of storytelling and acknowlediging they made mistakes. It's a REPUDIATION of what Snyder stands for.
! They're also bringing back fan favourite characters and giving the fans what they want. It's a groundbreaking idea that maybe Marvel should learn lessons from instead of shoving Inhumans and Civil War sequels down peoples' throats. -

I know that, but I don't really understand what the extra Jokers have to with this. Or even putting Watchmen in the official canon.
! This is more because I find ironic while the current DCEU movies become less Snyder-centric, Watchmen, which had a movie adaptation directed by Snyder, will become more important. -

There is nothing ironic about it. Geoff Johns canonized DC's historical mistakes of learning the wrong lessons of Watchmen by making Dr. Manhattan the reason why their heroes have become so detached and unlikable. Geoff Johns has also been hired by Warners to reign in noted Watchmen director and Watchmen II: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder and to bring back the superheroic aspect of their superhero characters.

! Three Jokers can either lead to interesting stories or be a total mess, for example.
! Also wondering what they will do with old Wally West in regards to the new one. -
So they are essentially retconing out all of the New 52?

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/batman-v-superman-fallout-warner-895174?utm_source=facebookWarner Bros. parted ways with screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith, who was to have made his directorial debut with The Flash. In another example of post-_BvS_fallout, the studio didn’t feel confident in a first-time helmer and is now looking for a more seasoned filmmaker who can not only handle a large, $150 million-plus movie but who can also have an authoritative stamp.
facepalm
THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM DC!!
Zack Snyder was a "seasoned filmmaker experienced with high budget films" and look where that got you?
Meanwhile Marvel keeps giving control to young, relatively less-veteran new directors and blowing it out of the water with them.
Clearly your executive production management and director over-seeing is the issue here, not how "experienced" your directors are!God.

A decent enough movie that was followed up by a sequel that tried to do too much in setting up a major
superhero team-up movie that needed more time to setup properly? -

True but using the movie to setup the Justice League film was definitely the movie's biggest problem.

I don't know, the inclusion of Wonder Woman didn't bother me and that scene where all the Justice League members get a little video-clip to set them up was just that, one little scene in one big mess of a movie. I'd say the fact that nobody's motivations made any good sense and that thus the central conflict of the whole movie was poorly constructed and set-up and just as badly and illogically resolved. But we've been through this

Some early test screen reviews have been posted about Suicide Squad and many are very positive about the film.
sigh
After the whole BvS debacle though I'll wait for later reviews. Still… I've been more excited and hopeful about this film than BvS anyway so here's hoping.
-
Early reviews of BvS were also positive.
