This is the same man that predicted Romney's victory in 2012. Just saying.
Indecision 2016 - In Soviet Russia, we elect american president!

It's not so much that I think he's right. It's that he's possibly right and that possibility is scary and should not be underestimated. I'd rather it be overestimated between the 2 options.
-
Geez, you guys are overly paranoid, aren't you?

GW Bush won twice somehow.
It's not paranoia if there's an actual reason to worry.
-
With Cruz doing what he's done most recently, and iirc being the heavy behind the government shutdown a while back, would it be a bit too "Captain Obvious" to suggest he has a bad habit of cutting off his nose to spite his face?

Be thankful you won't have to eat a shoe if he somehow does win.

The first being because of a combination of bullshit, the second being a combination of
Fearmongering and Kerry being a somewhat meh canidate for the democrats. With Cruz doing what he's done most recently, and iirc being the heavy behind the government shutdown a while back, would it be a bit too "Captain Obvious" to suggest he has a bad habit of cutting off his nose to spite his face?
He's a tea party Republican who isn't that well liked in the establishment wing he could give
two fucks about throwing the party and it's nominee that they ironically don't like under the
bus. -

But at the same time Trump isn't Bush, right?Speaking of which, I recall once Bush said he was afraid he would be the last GOP president.
-
I just think it's baffling and amazing that we have a billionaire egomaniac with ZERO qualifications actually in the running polling at 50%. Like someone on Twitter said: The American people are just stupid enough to get Trump elected
There are a few other republican candidates running that would have been better because they are least know the damn LAWS. This guy got popular by talking out his ass, telling people what they want to hear and promising things that he can't even begin to provide like giant walls and shit. He's a con artists and he's got so many people fooled and he's completely and utterly unfit for the job. He CAN NOT become president. People talk about voting for conscience, well the only thing I absolutely know is that HE CAN NOT BECOME PRESIDENT. That is the only thing that matters to me in this election. If the election was fucking Jeb Bush vs Trump, I'd easily vote for Jeb. It's the only thing I think that really matters to me right now. Like we had the perfect opportunity to vote for our conscience earlier and his name was BERNIE SANDERS. He ran against Hillary Clinton and LOST because people didn't vote for him. You can't just vote for 2 schmucks that barely register a heart beat on the polls now.
People are gonna get this dunce elected, I just know it
-
But at the same time Trump isn't Bush, right?Speaking of which, I recall once Bush said he was afraid he would be the last GOP president.
No, he's worse than Bush as far as is rhetoric and positions go. Yet, he still made it this far.
-
And yet even if he won, he actually doesn't want the job.
-
Geez, you guys are overly paranoid, aren't you?
I would agree, except the sentiment is absolutely correct. Get. Out. And. Vote. Doesn't matter how good or bad the polls look, vote.Even if not just to win, but to make as many votes against this fascist crap as possible.
-
I already know this guy only said that to scare voters to get off their asses and go vote in November. It's a fearmonger tactic.
-

Really? THAT'S fearmongering? As opposed to telling people we need a giant wall to keep out the rapist Mexicans and ban all the terrorist Muslims? Grow up.
-

And why do you even bother with promises that CANNOT and won't be accomplished?
-

Yes, how dare he use to fear to convince people to do something that absolutely everyone should be doing.
-
How are the polls faring right now? And I mean the ones that are not rigged.
-
And why do you even bother with promises that CANNOT and won't be accomplished?
If you're asking this question then you clearly aren't familiar with the concept of politics. So of course you wouldn't understand… well anything we're talking about in this thread, really. So, never mind. Be on your merry way.
-

That seems unnecessary…
-
Bah. Why do I even bother if this is the only answer you can give to me.
-
There have probably been entire books written on that question. Because literally everyone does it. You're asking the wrong question. The right question is why would you not be afraid of someone being elected who says those things, even if they are impossible.
-
Bah. Why do I even bother if this is the only answer you can give to me.
Going over the past few posts, there does seem to be an excess of Trumppence-phobia. Fair's fair though, Trump doesn't make it hard to be worried.
In fact one reason I've seen suggested for why he won't win is that very paranoia/"fearmongering" prompting viewer turnout to keep him out.

Along with countless republicans outright refusing to vote, horrible unfavourable opinion among genders and other races, and of course, that "what if" that may scare some people. The thing that makes it more sad is the very fact he actually doesn't want to run for president, thus betraying all those who supported him.
-

Yeah. It's pretty much Clinton's election to lose.
I think it's less that Trump doesn't want to be president and more he doesn't want to do the work of the president. There was a story where one of Trump's sons tried to get Kasich to be VP by offering him the change to be most powerful vice president in history
-
The thing with fear mongering is that it's especially scary when droves and droves of people believe you. You can cite all the disgruntled republicans you want but a wave a scared dopes is exactly what trump surfed in on

I agree fully, Trump should not become president. At this point, I plan to vote for the strongest candidate that's going against Trump. Which isn't bad since so far it seems Hillary Clinton is the strongest opponent. I hear there are two other names, independents or such but hear so little about them that not sure if one is called Jill Stein or not and other don't know. For such low info, IF this is true, they don't have strong chances. @Monkey:

I plan on going to vote. Thankfully there's a polling station only a few blocks away so I can walk to vote when its time. I agree we can NOT afford to say "well he really has no chance at winning so I don't need to worry.". Its that type of vote-apathy that would allow Trump to win as he does have enough people willing vote for his hate-mongering. If someone has never voted in their life, THIS is the election to get off your ass and vote.

And that is what really scares me. There is enough of these people that they could get Trump elected if people think "no worry, he won't win so I'm not going to vote".
-
Just show them a bad poll, even if is one rigged. But anyway, a man who cannot run a Convention properly isn't fit to run an entire country.

Great. Now get out and vote in November.
-
You guys are wasting your time. Trump is GOING to win… the "Never Hillary" Ex-Bernie supporters are the straw that's gonna break that camel's back.
You all need to stop worrying about whether or not he's going to win and start worrying about what you're going to do AFTER he wins.
-
Thankfully my immediate family is voting Hilary from what I can gather, mainly on the basis of "well she's not Trump".

Aren't the "Never Hillary" Ex-Bernie supporters a distinct minority among Sanders' supporters? How many of them are there, really, that would vote Trump because Sanders didn't win the nomination?
-
Hillary actually doesn't need to do much to win. But she's a hardworking woman, so even if you told her there's no need to haste, she would still continue till the election is over.@Monkey:
Great. Now get out and vote in November.
But… I'm Spanish. Didn't I tell you once?

Cut the Chicken Little bullshit.
The Bernie-or-Busters were nothing more than a minority. An exceptionally loud and appallingly callous minority, but a minority nonetheless. They'll affect fuck-all beyond maybe the .004% of the popular vote the Libertarians and Greens get in November.
If you're going to worry about something, worry about what magical tricks the GOP's going to pull out to suppress voters. If Trump can't win Florida, he can't win at all. And Florida? Is not looking to be friendly to him. Even the Cuban exile community seems to be holding their noses for Dems this time around.

It's apparently Pat Buchanan Culture War as fuck.

I'm trying to be positive but this is just getting so ridiculously scary. Polls are showing them in a dead heat. Despite all the stupid bullshit he says, despite the most backwards ass platform in Republican history, Despite Mike Pence being his VP, despite it coming out that he basically intends to be a figurehead president and Pence is really going to have all the power….
HE STILL has 50% of the vote....
We didn't think he'd get the nom and get this far, but he has.... ugh.... it's horrifying. It's telling me that come January of next year, I officially won't be welcome here anymore and I'm scared.

What polls are you looking at? Sam Wang and the Princeton Election Consortium, about the only election prediction things worth a damn, consistently put Hillary with a near 100 electoral college votes ahead of Trump.

Don't worry about polling yet. Worry after the conventions are done, and also don't forget to pay attention to what really matters. The Electoral College.

This is where I'm getting my info. Hillary has pulled lightly ahead, but she's only ahead by a couple of points…

The electoral map there has Clinton areas by 45 votes of my math's right.

That electoral map isn't even done.
Nevada and Arizona are near-locks for Hillary, for one thing.
-

Getting bumps from selecting a Veep and having a convention are pretty natural though; McCain even lead Obama for a while after the 2008 RNC.

The fear and anger is justified because the situation is very ugly but not in the sense that we should lose hope. It's more so in the sense and realization that America has come this close to electing a leader and platform that represents the worst of us. That America's problems with racism, misongny, prejudice, discrimination, and intolerance isn't as subtle as people want to believe it is. It's actually pretty in your face bold. Bold enough to put Donald Trump and the wave he's riding on at the top of the ticket of one of America's most powerful poltical parties which is trying to select the next president of the United States. Even if it's a minority it's scary that this ugliness is so influential and still so much a part of our country that Donald Trump is succeeding as its suited up mouthpiece, and it's almost like this whole process has given it a legitimate voice for the rest of the world to gaze at in horror or admiration.
-

Near-lock is overestimating things for Nevada and Arizona is a toss-up at best.

If Arizona is able to be described as a toss-up at all, that's amazingly bad for Trump.

Almost like insulting and galvanizing a third of a state's population is a bad thing.

Almost like insulting and galvanizing a third of a state's population is a bad thing.
As a resident of said state, it is very conservative. So, the possibility of it going blue this election is a shock.
-
Yeah, I'm in AZ myself so the concept that my vote might actually matter this year is crazy.
-
The growing Latino population in Nevada and Arizona has had pundits predicting their "purpling" for a while now. Same thing is happening to Texas, just farther to the right. In 20 years or so Texas might actually be a swing state, though presumably the Republican party would have widened their appeal or collapsed by then.
