$135 million opening weekend.
Even more insane when you consider it had no 3D.

!
Just got back from seeing it. I had pretty low expectations, but it was pretty good. I'm actually really looking forward to the sequel, considering how much money it's making. Maybe they could include more characters. I'd love to see Domino or Shatterstar join Cable.
Then again, I guess that would take away from the Wade and Nathan tag team.

The Deadpool writers (or the director, I forgot) referred to Cable as a "Deadpool villain" recently so I don't think it will be a tag team anyway (until the end of the movie where they all team up).
With this movie making so much money, Fox will probably allow the creators all the X-Force members they want to have.
! In my previous post I forgot to say that there was a Hugh Jackman cameo…kind of.
Deadpool. Well. That was fun. A little typical of an origin story for a film that talks about breaking the typical formula, but it was fun.
Everyone stayed for the post-credits sequence, right?
!
^I can't believe I didn't recognize that end credit scene…
Deadpool has smashed records with a $135 million weekend opening:

That's with an R rating. Ryan Reynolds and Tim Miller are probably dancing in front of Fox exec's saying, "Told ya soooooo!!!!"
So the next one will have a $100 budget with a free extra serving of studio rewrites, reshoots and all around interferance.

Three Deadpool figures and only three raffle entries… congrats, you're all winners. Thanks for playing.
PM me your shipping details and I'll get your new Deadpool figure out to you this week!
Will probably do another giveaway in a few weeks for Batman.
You mean that wasn't a joke?
Guess I'll be sure to participate for the Batman one then

Of course not. I would never tease people like that.
Looking forward to it.

It just seemed weird to limit a raffle to just this forum

Just wanted to do something nice for the folks here.
We also do giveaways over social media, usually during the holiday season and sometimes on the One Piece Podcast. Haven't done one with them in a while though, come to think of it.
Anyways, I don't want to derail the thread too much, if you have any questions feel free to vm/pm me. :)
Nah I got what I need to know.
I'm probably not going to be seeing Deadpool until Sunday. going to be seeing it with some friends.
Saw deadpool, a really funny cool action flick. Is it the second coming of jesus some people say it is…no.
I only just saw that there was this thread as I was looking for a Deadpool thread. Great movie. Had some stupid humor in it but most of it was good. The opening especially was great. Loved the opening credits. Hopefully when the sequel comes the execs don't meddle too much and we get another good movie with a higher budget. Looking forward to more Negasonic too.
Just chiming in with what everyone said about Deadpool. A fun action pack 1.5 hr movie. My gf took me to watch it for valentines day and we had a blast. However, I feel like you would need to have some knowledge of Deadpool and Ryan Reynolds to get some of the great jokes. Definitely worth your time to watch it if you like enjoy marvel movies.
"Official photography on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has started, and I couldn't be more stoked.
My favorite movie as a small child was The Strongest Man in the World, so I'm glad to announce that, yes, Kurt Russell has joined our cast and, yes, he is more awesome a dude than I ever could have imagined.
The last few days around here with him and our other new cast members, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Chris Sullivan, have been some of the best of my life. I never thought anyone was missing from our island of misfit toys, but now that these folks are here there feels like there was.
Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Sean Gunn, and Glenn Close are all returning.
We'll have more surprises for you in the coming months. But, for now, this will have to do.
I have to get back to set!
Have a great day, everybody."
So i guess Kurt Russell is Starlord's father? Would be a nice choice IMO. Would definitely fit the kind of 80s style of Quill.
Heh, I never thought of the possibility of Groot staying tiny but I like it a lot.
I believe Groot has the ability to alter his size, no?
Or maybe I'm just think of how they did Groot in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, where he was a potted, talking plant until he leaped out and fought.
Wolverine 3 will be rated R. Current rumors are that it will be based on the Old Man Logan story.
Pom Klementieff was confirmed as being Mantis great :), I believe they said there would be two new guardians, Mantis is most likelly going to be one since she is in the movie so now please give me Bug or Jack Flag, if it was Adam Warlock I think they would have teased it by now, if he ever becomes a member, him and Magus have to be the story of the movie and I believe this one is probably about Spartax and J'son.
Damn I wanted that Deadpool figure :(, shame I didn't see the contest.

"Because Deapool proves fans want an R rated superhero! Not that fans want a good movie!"
The flyer with the (tentative) Wolverine R-rating was created long before the Deadpool opening though.
"Because Deapool proves fans want an R rated superhero! Not that fans want a good movie!"
Obviously the only thing keeping the Wolverine movies from being good was the PG13 rating!
Deadpool was very entertaining. It wasn't as good as Ant-Man, which was the last Marvel movie I watched, but that's to be expected. It took itself even less seriously than Ant-Man. I agree that some of the non-highway action scenes could have been done better. We already had seen most of the great scene in the trailer. Nitpicking here but there was a lot of jokes packed in to the point that I can't remember many of them. I did love Deadpool and Francis' reaction to Colossus interrupting with his monologue at the end and Liam Neeson being a bad parent.
! "After an adjusting period and a few drinks, that's a face I could sit on."
! I think I was the only one in the theater to laugh hard at that. In my defense, last night was a Tuesday, so the seats weren't too filled. Completely caught me off guard though.
I was really cautious on liking this movie, deadpool's schtick always seemed funny for about the first year you get to know him. But this was a fun movie, and I'm just happy it achieved what it aimed for. Especially with the budget they had, mad respect.
The only real gripe I had was that the highway action scene was pretty much shown throughout all the trailers, so very little of it was new, and the way the story was structured, it took its sweet time in that scene, with the flashbacks every now and then. Understandable, though, since it was a good sequence and they really needed to sell the movie with it's trailers.
Other than that, I enjoyed the other action scenes and the humor. The gripes I generally have with deadpool are some of the jokes I've seen on paper, but Reynolds' delivery really helped in that department.
! I just knew there had to be an x-men timeline joke said eventually! I was so happy to hear it.
And now that I've seen people do fan art of Kiera Knightly as Cable, I almost want her to be cast as the character. Almost. Casting her just for the sake of the joke would probably piss off more people than it would please.
Wasn't a crazy big Deadpool fan. Then again I'm starting to become less and less entertained with the Marvel movies. I might be taking a long break from them after this.
Except for Guardians of the Galaxy. That was great and I will see the sequel.
The dumb parents HAVE been striking out there, it seems.
Woah. What.
$5 tickets? That's crazy
shoot I wish I could pay $5 for tickets
I always wondered what made movie tickets pricey in some regions. It's about $8.50 (not bad) on nights and weekends where I live, and matinee is $5. And it's not even a crappy theatre, the seats are awesome and recline. Are they just more expensive in big cities or what?
Eh. Just region, I suppose. Up here in the Northeast most theaters charge at least $7-8 for matinee. I do know one slightly downtrodden theater that has $5 matinees though.
I had to pay $11 per ticket at the Regal theatre that I saw Deadpool at, and it wasn't too fun.
I'm probably going to end up getting a Moviepass membership soon. I'd probably be much more willing to go to more movies with it.
The matinee for me in Tampa was $5.58. Very nice theater as well.
Japan has a very nice thing going where the tickets are expensive but in exchange the food is dirt cheap. I paid like . . . . . ¥1500 for a ticket but only ¥500 for a big bucket of popcorn and a large soda.
Paid 9.5 Euro for Deadpool on Sunday
I paid like . . . . . ¥1500 for a ticket but only ¥500 for a big bucket of popcorn and a large soda.
I'd really love that.
I stopped buying movie popcorn & drinks and have started to opt to bring in my own food/drinks via my coat pocket or my girlfriend's purse. A large drink is $8 at my local theatre (with free refills), and a large popcorn is the same price (also with a free refill). I suppose the theatres need to make a big profit somewhere since they get so little from the tickets themselves, but sheesh.
And then there's the candy, which I haven't purchased in a very long time. $5 for a small box of M&Ms? No thanks.

So…it still evens out to about $20 for tickets and food.
I wished Deadpool was playing at the iPic. Totally would have paid the 27 for a premium seat and food. We went to an Arc Light though. Tickets were 13.
It about evens out, but at least I feel like I'm not being cheated on food. It's sad when here you think about skipping on popcorn because it's so fucking expensive. Whereas in Japan I already paid mint for the ticket, they at least don't charge us mint for the food. Very nice food, too.

Well that's one reason not to go to the movies…..good god.
