Other people have done the same if I recall correctly.

Just seen the second episode, how is the animation this good?
I'm honestly asking, how do they have the budget for this -
It's a short series and, knowing how this works, is probably front-loaded; most of the good animation is at the start of the series so that people will watch the show with the later episodes cutting corners except for a few special scenes.
-
Well, with this pacing seems like the season will really end with Boros' arc; I thought we would've the chance to get the sweet King arc, but that's ok.
Also,
!
Top right King close-up, that's the redone spread I was talking about, but I can't find anywhere (not even in the online version), does anyone have it? -

HAHA look King's stats… strenght, speed, power all MAXIMUM. Hail to the king.

Hey, what if ONE and Murata are doing the extended material so that the imminent* anime series two has more material to work with? I imagine it as being partly a reason.**
*Unless it bombs, but One Punch Man is way too awesome to bomb!
**I'm not exactly complaining! -
With the amount of side stories in one-punch man season 2 could easily be made up of them. So like, have the king and fubuki story-lines and then a bunch of the one-shot stories to build characters up (Fubuki gets a lot so that is why she should be introduced first). Then have an anime-only big story line to end on. Do garou in season 3 because by that time Murata may have finished it.
-
Madhouse and future seasons? Thinks of Kaiji S3, Chihayafuru S3, Akagi S2, Rainbow S2, One Out S2, NGNL S2, Hajime no Ippo S4, etc..

Ohh shit.
Metal Bat vs Dragon level threat. -
Metal bat is 17 years old and he's doing all this.
-
Ohh shit.
Metal Bat vs Dragon level threat. And that is really Awesome by very big A.
Is that centepide that I am thinking about ? Spoiler for people that didnt seen Ones OPM
! The one Garou killed ? Also I think that is how it will be explained that there was no Metal Bat in Monster-Garou arc as MB will most likely barely win with that thing that just shown up
-
It´s only that one page?
-
databook been posted here yet? there's more than one page in this link
http://tonarinoyj.jp/manga/onepanman/81/ translation from reddit:
First page- We came to help!
- B-Rank Hero: Pineapple
- We’ll fight too!
- C-Rank Hero: Mohawk
- Too late, it’s already over.
- So fast!
- Wasn’t it a demon level disaster!?
- Sorry to ask, but take these guys to the hospital for me
- I promise my little sis I’d take her shopping…
- … What's that?
- There’s a new crack opening up…
- What?
Second page
- Just a big, beautiful image. Enjoy
Third page
- T-that’s…!
- The Great Bug Monster - Elder Centipede!!!?
- You know it?
- The last time it appeared it nearly leveled a town and then disappeared
- A brutal fiend that’s marked as not yet exterminated!!!
- It’s disaster level is Dragon
- Dragon, huh?
- I’ll call the hero’s association and request some S ranks. (second connected bubble) Until then let’s back off
- It’s going after those two
- While I take it on, take them and run
Final page
- I’m going all out!
-
I like how this is more about the side characters.
-
So predictions who is gonna head to S-city to help MB?
-
Well, Garou sounds like he's headed that general direction, but given that ONE said that Metal Bat can handle a dragon class threat on his own, I'd like to see how it pans out with him going solo
-
! ONE Original spoiler:
! As cool as that monster and this fight is, I really wanna get to the black sperm and evil water. -
Metal Bat is supposed to be stronger than Genos, right?
-
Metal Bat is supposed to be stronger than Genos, right?
The rankings are apparently as much based on popularity and name recognition as they are strength; that's why King is down at seventh despite being considered the strongest hero.
-
Not basing on rankings, but only using feats/hype and what One has said so far.
Post Rain Sea King was Dragon threat level IIRC, and Genos was = to him(lost because he was protecting that group of people), Would MB have fared better vs the Sea King than Genos?
U understand me, dont u?
-
Metal Bat wasn't boasting when he said he could take care of dragon level threats, but that is a vague statement, since some threats in that class are definitively more dangerous than others
! ONE Original spoiler:
! evil natural water, golden sperm and ONE said that Genos is rather powerful even among the S-Class
Maybe MB would just straight up annihilate Sea King if he endangered his little sister? -
That's how those two compare anyway.
-
Those power charts can't be trusted to be anything but the in-universe public perception. King is maxed out on all of that yet we know he's just some weak regular guy.

Maybe MB would just straight up annihilate Sea King if he endangered his little sister?I always thought that Sea King in his rain form was somewhere around Dragon level.
And certainly Asura Rhino was one of Dragon level monsters as he was so strong that Genos was not able to even touch him with everything he got. Not to mention that Rhinos "raging form" most likely was considerably stronger than his "base".
Metal Bat would most likely destroy Sea Kings first form and have a good fight and win.
Very cool to see some of S-class hero shining, escpecially one as Ferocious as Metal Bat
-

That's because there aren't enough boxes in the "nin ki" column to cover all of King's nin ki, so the excess boxes got put into all of the other columns.

One Punch Man will have 12 episodes for the TV anime series. The first volume of the BD/DVD anime will contain a special OVA, and the 10th volume of the manga will be bundled with a separate OVA. 12 episodes and 2 OVA's to look forward too.

Funny how I can't care of the level of the heroes in that manga. I go by S-class are somewhat decent, King is Satan of Drangon Ball and Saitama crushes everyone.
-
Do you guys think that OPM can become a big hit in the west? Kinda like Attack on Titan did?
-

If you mean "hit" as in Dragon Ball, One Piece, Evangelion levels of "hit", no.
Also the anime has great action scenes but the pacing of the dialogues and jokes is all over the place. Onepunch-man is mainly a comedy, a parody of the superheroes-sentai series and the anime is missing that point by focusing on the flashy bits.
The manga could become big on the west on its own but the anime wont make a print.
-
Eh, the reception from the uninitiated folk has been overwhelmingly positive wherever I looked, humour included.
-
I don't think it has big twists like AOT, it's just a well drawn comedy

Are they people who watch anime usually even when they are not familiar with OPM? Because for the usually low anime standards this one is not that bad but not good enough to grasp the attention of non "otakus".
I have seen some reactions of people who dont watch anime and they are good but they are not crazy about the series either. Its fun, its flashy but not enough for them to bother and read the manga.

At least a few of them , yes.

I don't think that's a good metric of how succesful the anime can be in the west. Most casual anime watchers, especially those who don't watch much anime, don't really bother with reading manga.

Then what's the metric of a series becoming sucessful on the west? It airing on Nicklodeon on prime time and a ton of merchandising being sold? Because I cant picture that happening.
For me a japanese series becoming popular on the west means that people who dont usually consume japanese media want to know more of it, they get hooked on the story/characters and go to the source material (usually a manga)

I'd say Anime series itself becoming popular and getting noticed even by people who don't usually follow anime.
Example: Attack on Titan.
And I reeeeaaaaaly don't think that most of the average joes who got on the AoT bandwagon or just checked it out to see what the fuss was about have become avid manga readers in any shape or form.
And really, when you think about it, western consumers don't really go out of their way to seek out source material of the popular whatever that they are watching. They really don't. Marvel and DC movies pull obscene amounts of moolah several times a year, but from what I know, the actual comics they are based on are doing some astoundingly paltry numbers. Walking Dead is one of the most popular series, but what percentage of it's audience cares or even knows that it's based on a comic book? How many of the movie goers who went to see Hunger Games for an evening buy Suzanne Collins books? Does every Game of Thrones watcher read ASOIAF?
It's not like Japan where adaptions are little more than glorified ads for manga. I'm sure lots of the aforementioned properties get a massive boost in popularity ( with the exception of comics… like I'm seriously bewildered by the low ass numbers people post for shit like FUCKING BATMAN... like I'm seriously confused... you know comics have become niche as hell when being the source of some of the biggest properties on the planet doesn't help you sell north of one million copies...), but the adaptions stand on their own and often outdo the source material in terms of popularity.*
I think you are conflating the notion of "appealing to average joe" with "turning average joe into a fan". Fans are those who follow a property across mediums, not casual watchers. Being a fun and flashy thing that an average person can enjoy watching and not be instantly put off by the "animuness" is exactly what I have in mind.
*That's what I've been led to believe. If I'm wrong, anyone can feel free to correct me with some data.

I think one punch man has the potential to be really well received in the west. A lot of people I know liked attack on titan for the animation and for the fighting and one punch man anime had that in spades. It doesn't matter if you think the anime 'missed the point of the manga' because most people who watch it won't have read the manga. A lot of people I have spoken to think this has anime of the year potential. If it gets on netflix like titan did it will become hugely popular.
-
I really hope Adult Swim picks up the show somewhere down the line; I think it'd fit into Toonami's current direction fairly well. It's a new property that doesn't have a ton of episodes, is action-oriented, has a likable main character, and has a premise that should have a fair amount of appeal to an American audience.
-
The episode 3 is already out on hulu, a very good episode.
-
Episode 3 and still no slowing down of AMAZING animation.
Geez Madhouse, how many animators are dying for this? -
I'm sure they're saving on a few of those animators by just having more that are insanely skilled.
I mean by now I don't think there's any doubt that that studio has outstanding talent. -
well from what i heard one punch man has a big investor behind it and so they are hiring various skilled animators from other companies

Murata joked on his stream the other day (while drawing the volume 10 cover arts) how 2-3 animators are going to die if Madhouse keep this up.
