What are the possibilities of Zou and those shadows at the end of Thriller Bark being one and the same?
And of Hogback having built Whitebeard's son?
Impossible, how would he pass the red line.

First l look at a Minkman:
Ah I'm thinking of a certain Yu-Gi-Oh character regarding the Name Weevil
@LordEnel:
Impossible, how would he pass the red line.
This thing is a thousand years old, maybe it knows of a secret passage in the red line within the calm belt.
Cool chapter.
All the sailing part was quite fun. I'm quite surprised that Barto's crew has been able to survive that long while they don't know anything about navigation.
Edward Weeble seems to be a monster. He annihilated an entire fleet on his own, along with a village, without any injuries, Borsalino describes him as being "strong" (he is apparently as strong as young WB, which is an incredible feat), and he's after Marco the Phoenix. I really think that he'll capture Luffy in some way. I mean, the crew now has his Vive Card (given to them by Sabo in the chapter Sabo's Adventure), so a rescue arc is definitely happening.
Are the Swirly Hats on Zou ? I think yes. Firstly, they're not on the boat anymore, are they ? They just left it behind, probably to get on that giant elephant. The water volcano could just be the elephant's trump. Plus, the environments do match.
That little tanuki-girl thing is a Minkmen, I've said, I told you to mark my words, and now we know it.
Looking forward to this arc, we may get an adventure arc (a bit like Skypiea), and these are the absolute best.

It's an elephant, dude.

16 chara of zero
We've already seen the tomb post-timeskip. It was not vandalized and the weapon is still there.
Moria took Whitebeard shadow (that's i'm 90% sure) and Miss Bucking found different body parts capable of maintaining Whitebeard's young power.
I correct the vandalized tomb part. Or maybe he took "things" of Whitebeard body and put the tomb like it was before to avoid suspicion. And made a weapon replica for the tomb and took the real one.

On the other side I am 100% sure that your theory is stupid.
@LordEnel:

Through the Calm Belt. It's a long route, but he had two years to do it.
EDIT: Scrap that, I just realized the Red Line goes all the way through.
Maybe he climbed it though, or he jumped.

.
Moria can't take shadows from dead people. And no Brook doesn't count, in fact that is why Ryuuma didn't re-killed brook.
What are the possibilities of Zou and those shadows at the end of Thriller Bark being one and the same?
I want to believe that it is a giant elephant as well. But it can't be the same.
They will meet each other one day and save their species

Sure, we have a talking reindeer so why not a jumping elephant

I can see that happening. Luffy will break the Red LIne for the to finally reunite. Such a toouching moment it will be.
Is anyone else picking up a Babidi and Majin Buu vibe from these two new characters?
Loved the chapter from start to finish.
Barto's crew managing to get through Grand Line without a navigator is gold, and I love seeing how silly they are. In a way, it's that "never-know-how-far-they'll-go" sillyness that I adore in Oda's writing.
Miss Bakkin… I can swear I've seen her before...
!
I was a bit uncertain about Weeble at first, but in the end I came to really like the guy. I adore the Controlling Mother/Naive Child dynamic, I think it can open up for a lot of interesting moments. It's only been a chapter, but I feel the dynamic between them works really well without having one character be overbearing over the other.
I think it's about time we get someone like Weeble too. There's been so many big, scary villains who are played up to be evil since the new world, that a big, naive doof is a welcome change. Heck, we might even get to see the Strawhats underestimate him. And he even has an interesting reason for wrecking havoc that isn't as inherently evil as the latest villains. Since the New World we've had "Marry the Princess/stalker", "Racism/drugs", "Revenge and inferiority complex/experimenting on children" and "Birthright/slavery". Somebody presumably being tricked into thinking he's Whitebeard's son, going on a rampage to get rid of all the "fakers" along with a money-hungry old lady feels a lot fresher. He's even got a grudge against Blackbeard!
I've severely missed major villains that aren't sadistic evils or comedy material. This is the kind of grey morality I've missed in the series.
Lastly, the Elephant was fantastic and I'm looking forward to the minkmen.
So, Whitebeard having a "son" is very odd to me. There has to be more to it than just that. But his bounty makes him really interesting. Also Bartolomeo's crew seems pretty useless, but they are still hilarious.
I'm very happy with Zou's design. I knew Zou was elephant in Japanese, but I wasn't expecting a literal elephant. Looking back at chapter 795 you can tell the Sunny is anchored to a leg or something like that. Also, since the elephant is over 1000 years old, I'm hoping we get some stuff on the void century. And Minkmen that hate humans? Maybe chopper will play a pivotal role in the arc.
Is there a weeks time between the hail and the fog/Zou ? or is it just that Kizaru/Weeble happened a week before
Choppers arc to shine after usopp?
About the new outfits.
I don't like Franky
Law is cool. Usopp is okay.
Robin reminds of a character in That 70's Show :ninja:

I can already see him ending up as Luffy's friend.
Is it just me or did Weevle take down Squard in this chapter?
i think squard deserve more focus than being defeated as one of those 16
There is only one man who can save the world from Weevil.

Please edit/add Aohige's summery to your post so others can see it.
Done! Thank you very much! :3
I guess the next time I do a chapter thread, I need to remember to check the spoiler thread as well for the summary. I guess I was expecting to see it in the chapter thread, so I could edit in the first post. (Via Aohige.) But I guess that's not always the case lol XD Anyways, thank you again! I make sure to remember to check that thread for the future! :3
O.o Where did you see Squard? He didn't take down Squard (unless he did offscreen) but he did defeat A.O. another one of Whitebeard's allies, given the scene of them laying defeated.
–---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow, given the opinions on our new Shichibukai, I'm guessing I'm the only oddball who is fond of Weeble's design? lol
Heh. Yeah you're the oddball. I HATE his design. But I do see a point somone else made about how Blackbeard didn't seem threatening when we first saw him, so there's that. (Course, said person was wrong about Whitebeard. He was a badass the second we first saw him, but then so was Kaido. Hell, the only "normal"-esque looking Yonko of the original 4 is Shanks lol)
Yeah, I guess that isn't Squard but now I kinda wanna know who it is cuz it looks awfully familiar.
http://readms.com/r/one_piece/802/2955/9
(top of the page in the heap of bodies left before Weevle's wake)
You know, I actually feel like this new Schichibukai follows a certain pattern. Remember how ugly the Imposter Strawhats were? Kinda simliar looking concept imo. A person claiming to be Newgate's son, but is kind of ugly looking and overweight. Seems fitting.
So, Whitebeard having a "son" is very odd to me. There has to be more to it than just that. But his bounty makes him really interesting.
He's the "self proclaimed" son of Whitebeard. It's not really his son.
i think squard deserve more focus than being defeated as one of those 16
Not necessarily.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
He certainly kills people for personal slights like his dad.
Nah i just find the narrative where Whitebeard was actually a deadbeat dad all this time to be too funny to pass up.
I'm not going to let stuff like obvious make up ruin that
Fair enough. Still questionable either way.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Whitebeard's son is so ugly that I'm pretty sure that he's going to go down soon. :D Anyway props to him for marking a connection between Luffy and Marco.
Concept of Zou is too much for my tastes however. I hope there is explaination for this and also that it isn't the thing we saw after TB arc. Wouldn't make sense that the elephand crossed GL.
How's it strange? It's just the cliche "Island on top of a turtle" idea, except it's an Elephant.
@Bladia:
I like how we have Edward Weeble acting in the same light as Demalo Black albeit he actually has a reputation and strength to back up his supposed lies.
And lol, classic Kizaru nonchalantly clipping his nails whilst talking about an individual wreaking havoc slaughtering well known crews using strength matching a young Whitebeard in his prime.
And Zou looks quite interesting indeed. I can not wait to see who the foes are for this arc.
Aha, I wasn't the only one seeing the similarities! But yeah, he's stronger so he can "back it up" with strength.
I hope Epoida is okay.
@A:
What I am excited about are the prospects of what this elephant knows; we all know the saying "An Elephant never forgets." Being over 1000 years old, the Zou Elephant must have some valuable information, especially about the Void Century. Luckly we have Chopper to translate for us.
Not sure how an elephant of that size could communicate without making everyone deaf. Unless he's telepathic.
But speaking of Void Century, I bet the "island" has one of Poneglyphs. It's old enough to have it. And those minkmen might be guarding it.
Who knows what kind of crazy info it holds! Hyped
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Is there a weeks time between the hail and the fog/Zou ? or is it just that Kizaru/Weeble happened a week before
Apparently, yes. They probably had some trouble "navigating", lol.
And? The Zombies aren't weakened by the sun. The people loosing their shadows get desintegrated by the sun.
Oh yeah, I forgot lol

That would be AWESOME! I'd definitely like to see what kind of ensight that would bring, but obviously it can't be that simple or the series would be ending early…
@ArmamentHero:
Ah I'm thinking of a certain Yu-Gi-Oh character regarding the Name Weevil
AHA! I KNEW I'd heard that name somewhere before!
did anyone notice on the last panel with the warlord, there is a ship that looked like it crashed into the buildings in the back. Also the land they are walking on looks like its dried up or missing. How did the pirate crew they just eliminated crash like that. Might be a good hint to his devil fruit power. Small details lead to big things
That warlord is so far disappointing.
Elephant island is cool, let's see where it goes.
This chapter has gone crazy! I can't wait until the next few pages?
I believe we are dealing with an Ancient Long-legged Giant Elephant.
Maybe it's an elephaaaaaaant
Of course that would mean the Davy back arc wasnt useless :ninja:
@Fire Fist:
Hmmm…
http://www.mangapanda.com/one-piece/802/9
http://onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/LolaWeeble and Lola possibly related? Rolling Pirates, Miss Bucking… Buck and Roll...
Nah.
I think they are related, though you got a laugh at the 'buck & roll' lol
@King:
Man, there are really some uncanny resemblances between Lola and Bucking/Weevil.
Similar hair, similar hat, and Weevil has the same pigtails as Lola.
I agree, I automatically thought of Lol on seeing Miss Bucking. then did a double take at Weevil/Weeble, visually there is some semblance between them. Didn't Lola did say her momma was strong in the new world?
Physically, how could whitebeard have sex with that midget?
Given that they have more in common with mammals and Otohime didn't seem to have a whole 'batch' of children I'd say it's been a painful delivery
Well, lets remember that during the war (think was while he was dying) Newgate had a flashback to his early days of piracy where he said he wasn't interested in treasure but a family, he looked off daydreaming. In that he was the same size as others.
I always wondered about that… perhaps Newgate (and Shirahosi) was born near more normal sized but as they grew, they grew to huge size.
For some reason, I didn't appreciate Edo-era hippos up until the MS scans came out.
2. I'm sure that Oda is going to portray Weevil as the victim here, and I'm sure that his mother will get what's coming to her when the time is right.
Yeah, I mean the chapter shows the big guy crying in his intro. Right there they chapter portrays him as sympathetic and not someone who's out to do bad things, even though 600 people were supposedly killed in the aftermath. Similar to Duval in that case in which his reveal involving him welling up in tears instantly made him more sympathetic despite aiding slavers. Weevil will probably get a good break after all of this is said and done.
Is there a weeks time between the hail and the fog/Zou ? or is it just that Kizaru/Weeble happened a week before
It should be a week after last week, since we got back to the SHs and it says a week later and Granny was reading the journal with the news about Mingo being beaten so yeah, basically from what I gather we were 3 days in Dressrosa and now a week as passes, so Sanji and his group have been in Zou for 10 days now.
Thinking the elephant is a temple, an ancient weapon, or some kind of robot .the minkmen have a tough act to follow after the dwarves.
Well, that elephant did sort of creep me out. He kind of looked like the reincarnation of Lao G. So I'm guessing it's really alive, just shared his elderly (and eerie) hollowed out eyes.
@Light:
Sorry but I don't think so. The minkgirl looked nothing like Pekoms or Bepo: no beady eyes, her snout is more angular… And why would they be called minkmen in the first place if they had more animals in their group? They're most likely just some other animal-like race. The three-eyed girl already implies that there's more races than the slave list covered.
why are certain fishmen called 'fish'men when they are octopus and squid types since they are cephalopods and not fish? It's a generalization of the race that's why.
Minkmen sounds better than mammen (mam for mammals) or animen.
I hope Epoida is okay.
Right??? He's the only one that matters tbh. I really hope he didn't take down any of the commanders though, I really liked some of those guys
Will we have a minkman as new nakama? Hmmm been wondering esp after seeing the shy looking one that the Swirly Hat pirates are looking for. She probs helped them

Because the huge thing is freaking standing upright while surfing ocean without any hint of movement or sinking.
From this chapter alone, I assume Oda is going to introduce more information about the Void Century/Poneglyph, The Clan of "D" with the introduction of these Mink, A possible reunion with Marco or other past WB Commanders - to further enhance and increase Luffy's allied force (either before or after Weeble's defeat). And The introduction of Weeble as the next Shichibukai to fall, can either ally with Luffy afterwards, or remain fallen, and be disposed of by the WG.
And hopefully, we'll see Luffy's growth in hearing all thing's, and possibly gain some information about this ancient elephant, or even something regarding the past. It's obvious these Mink will be hostile, and possibly powerful too. But their reasons may be justified, but Luffy will have to solve these problems.
Because the huge thing is freaking standing upright while surfing ocean without any hint of movement or sinking.
I bet the elephant stand in a turtle that is underwater.
So did anyone else think it was weird how the colour page was missing a few Strawhat members? Sure Franky and Brook would stick out there but not even Robin made it in.
Because the huge thing is freaking standing upright while surfing ocean without any hint of movement or sinking.
indeed that is strange :wassat:

Maybe, (and I do admit that I like the ring of it), but still the girl looks very different from P&B.
@Light:
Maybe, but still the girl looks very different from P&B.
and? Yes, the eyes are different but Hatchi looked very different from Arlong and Kurobi with his mouth sticking out so far. Different types can look different from each other.
While I may believe they are minkmen, and been saying it for the longest time now. I admit that we can't know for certainty until we see more Minkmen.
Until then we can't say yes or no.
