Warner Bros Montreal making an open world Superman game?…........dis gon be gud.
Do we have a No Man's Sky thread? There's some new footage that's been trending on the Facebooks.
You can go around and shoot new and interesting species to death. I can't wait to play this game in full Zapp Brannigan mode.

lol now you will make it your mission to discover all species of alien goats
Doubt it, AP is overall very disinterested in the space genre. It's really overall Nintendo, with the occasional latest AAA game thrown in. The star citizen thread got like a few posts, elite dangerous is basically non-existant (though few should care about that game, anyway), and space sims don't get votes in the retro thread. It's just how the place is.
I remain very cyncial and skeptical about No Man's sky. Procedual generation, and that was handled very badly in Elite, the chances of it being handled well in NMS is not high. There is a tendency for procedule missions to get very repetitive fast, and it becomes tedious. And it is exceptionally likely in the space sim genre. Plus there is no real multiplayer, apparently they decided to spawn you at random spots in a huge procedule universe, and you have to meet players that way, there is no traditional party system.
Info may be a bit outdated, and I have to give props for the art style. It may dodge several issues that E:D had, as there isn't the troubled development that that company had. But given the small development team, it remains to be seen if the core mechanics can be made to be fun. There are examples where it was okay, like mount and blade.
I'll keep an open mind and wait for judgment after release, but eh, gameplay is not looking good at the moment.
I like space games but procedural generation is overused in indie games and I don't have any hope that this game is going to be fun to play because of it. I haven't watched that video though so I don't know. Space game I'm looking forward to is Enemy Starship, which also uses procedural generation, but it's more about skirmishes and I think the procedural generation works better for it than I imagine it working in No Man's Sky. Open world games with complete freedom are also overdone and in my experience get boring really quickly.
To me its all about how well their procedural generation system works. Every planet really has to be different and not just different as in "oh it's like this planet but green/red/blue".
As for gameplay I'm still part of the generation I guess that just takes joy in pure exploration.
To me this might turn out like a bigger "Journey" just solo.
No man's sky looks cool as hell. Can't wait to play it.
On the PS4 I don't have.
(The number of games I want is starting to reach the tipping point towards getting the system, but… I've also got like 40 Steam games now...)
It was confirmed it'll have a PC release at the same time. To be honest, I was expecting a timed exclusive.
Also, apparently traditional multiplayer will be added in later, just not at release obviously.

do you have a source one this? That would be amazing. I thought it was more a dark souls like mp features kind of deal.
I hope they're going to support this game with expansions in the future.
And the first thing I would wish for on that front are tools to build and upgrade your own home base.

Some random interview I found when I was googling for gameplay/release date info. Lemme google it again.
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/no-mans-sky-will-have-traditional-multiplayer-but-/1100-6420982/
That's the interview, though it's not exactly clear on details, he just says "plans" and "traditional multiplayer". Could mean anything, so I used "apparently" in my original post.
And the problem is a later interview does go into details, and the traditional mutliplayer is not mentioned. It is more or less dark souls styled here. I suppose he could be saving the details when it is added after release, but eh, traditional style seems contradictory to a dark souls style, so I have no idea now.

Rocket League is free to download for PS4-users this month … and it is freakin' amazing!!
Been playing it for a few hours now and it is so much fun! I was playing with the same 4 guys for like 10 games and i was on the edge of my seat so many times because we went to overtime ... and as soon as you learn how to handle the cars a bit better, you pull off some awesome maneuvers and scoring goals becomes so satisfying!
I can really just recommend it to anyone, even if you don't like Sports-Games.
I used to play Super Sonic rocket powered acrobatic battle cars on the ps3 with my friends for hours. Neat to see that it got a sequel
It was confirmed it'll have a PC release at the same time. To be honest, I was expecting a timed exclusive.
Yeah… no way my PC can come close to handling the game. It'll have to be a new PS4 or not at all.
Eventually.
In a few years.
The game doesn't even look that intensive. People severely overestimate what you need to run games at decent settings.

Yeah, most games can be run under minimum specs just fine, if you want to sac a bit of detail. I used to have super old 7300 card, that I still managed to run most modern games on.
Also, here's a fairly recent channel I found that is dedicated to doing it. It amuses me greatly.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQkd05iAYed2-LOmhjzDG6g
My pc is not a dedicated gaming machine. At all. Doesnt even have a specific graphics card.
It can run 2D indie games. That's it.
Wouldn't be a better investment to get a the pc? Amazon day is this wensday, and last year a friend got a gaming laptop for the price of a ps3 during black friday.
I just got a brand new laptop, and it can't do the higher end stuff because I didn't get a super expensive one. (It can run most indie games, and low res Guild Wars 2, but can't run Ori and the Blind Forest or Sonic Racing) . It does what I need it to do. I have a work computer and an internet computer.
If I want a dedicated gaming machine… then I'm going to get one that isn't going to be a)super expensive, and b) obsolete in 6 months, as all high end PCs inevitably are.
If you don't even get the graphics card of course it won't play anything, but this one is still going strong after 4 years, played arkham city, skyrim, fallout, anything blizzard, dark souls, bioshock.. etc on it. And it wasn't "top of the line" when I got it.
It's only obsolete if you try to run Crysis on very high with dynamic shadows and super anti alyasing.
If this console generation lasts as long as the last one it's the best times to get onto PC.
I've been playing on the PC gamer since I was like 6 and upgrade cycles used to be like about 3 years for me(not the whole rig just parts and rather cheap upgrades in my case). I would exchange a rig after another 2-3 years entirely.
With the last console generation being really damn long + the new doing a good jump but not an insane one the upgrade cycles feel really long this generation + the benefits of being on everything which forces software parity.
Also the games that really push photo realism (ala far cry/crysis) don't appear as frequently as they used to.
My current rig is like 5 years old and I haven't upgraded a single thing about it and played the witcher 3 on middling to high setting which still looked better than on current gen consoles. My next upgrade is maybe happening once the next Elder Scrolls is coming, or maybe not. Currently it feels a little bit like my rig could even last me this whole new generation.
I will say though being a PC user for so long I probably lack empathy on the tech problem aspects of the PC. Like people seem to get really frustrated at any PC problems whereas to me solution are usually just 1 google search away. But it's undeniably higher maintenance than a console.
Not a sales pitch or anything.
Just wanted to give perspective on what PC gaming is currently like, cause I feel like there are lots of exaggerations out there of what people think PC gaming is like based on really old circumstances.
I think the biggest barrier to entry is market transparency.
Every time I get a new rig I put some major research into it and it takes me quite a long time to finalize my decisions. But that's me with all tech stuff that offer a wide variety of options. I mean it took me like 6 months now to decide on my macbook.
True, being a PC gamer rather than a console gamer it's a little more work intensive, but considering the lackluster exclusives (Except nintendo's) and the fact that the ps4 is still with a weak game base just don't make it appealing to me.
If persona 5 migrates that's another whole issue that I'll handle with anger, dissapointment, and buying an used p4 in 5 years.

Fucking hell, that's completely out of nowhere. Someone else can make a thread about it if they want.
Discussion is being directed to the Nintendo thread

We've had two already.
I finished a second playthrough of FFX, on the PS2. I didn't try hard enough to max out as I much as I could have because around early September, my bro is taking the PS3, and I wanted time to play some games on it before then, hence why I didnt' want to spend so much time on FFX. Also because I planned to actually buy the FFX/X-2 HD Remaster on the PS4 at one point, so it's not like I can't have a chance max out FFX ever again anymore or anything like that.
But the point is…. is that with about 35-45 days left, which should I play; an RPG? (preferably Final Fantasy VII. But an RPG means that I have to play a couple hours each day, assuming it takes me 50 hours to play. ) or an action adventure game? (since it takes less time, and thus I can play maybe two)?
Obviously if you don't have enough time on your hands RPG's definitely aren't something you should play.

I felt as if I could sneak one in, since I have like 35-40 days left with the console. But I don't wanna spend 3 hours a day for like 20 days playing the same game, so I'd rather just play the action adventure.

yep that's happening
Meanwhile at Evo:
Regardless of no man's sky turning out to be good or not, I get endlessly fascinated by them talking about how they made it.
I hope there's a gdc talk about it at some point.
Still got a lot of other stuff to learn(that has a higher priority for me) before I even approach procedural generation but it's really amazing how you can use that math to make something like no man's sky or rogue likes, etc.
Disney is letting the people choose the next Infinity figure. Options include Darkwing Duck, Goofy, Johnny Depp in a stupid hat, Mable and more
Mabel is winning by a landslide
Zombi confirmed for PS4, XB1, and PC
ZombiU was critically acclaimed!?
And lol at the needlessly bitter WiiU fans.
Last time I checked, no.
So why do they think anyone is going to want to play it when it already got mediocre reviews on the WiiU? It being on other platforms isn't going to make it better. Not to mention Ubisoft can't program for PC to save their lives too.

I'm stumped .

I asked myself the same thing. I can only assume they have some new changes coming to these versions.

They probably just assume it didn't sell because of the wii u and not because it was tedious and boring at various points.
It's called ZombiU because of the Wii U right? Shouldn't they therefore change the name to fit the appropriate console?

Anyone have a list of good sources of video game news? Anything is fine, as long as it's mostly accurate, reliable and not clickbait/drac. I'm fine with news sites, forums, IRC or whatever needs to be done.
Or maybe I should try to make some friends with some people who actually work in the industry.

That actually looks incredible
Please, when posting mass ammounts of images, use hide or spoiler tags.
And please, when people are posting such things, don't then quote them in full and thus double post the already long string of images.
http://mynintendonews.com/2015/08/02/ubisoft-explains-how-zombi-works-without-a-second-screen/
-Devs wanted to maintain a minimal HUD in order to preserve ZombiU’s sense of loneliness.
-Mini map now appears in a corner of the screen. Only appears when you need it.
-Increase of FOV to give player more spacial awareness.
-Accessing your backpack still does not pause the game. Backpack interface appears in the middle of the screen while player can still see to the left and right to watch for zombies.
-Multiplayer mode from Wii U removed as it simply couldn’t be done without two screens.
-Two new melee weapons: shovel and nail bat. Shovel has longer range and can hit multiple enemies in one swing, nail bat does more damage and also can hit multiple enemies.
-Flashlight has a new high setting with a wider, farther reaching beam but it will attract even more zombies when you use it.
-Flashlight now has a battery and has to recharge (ala Half-Life)
-Game “will perform better on newer consoles” (obvious) and controls have been tweaked to be more responsive.
Some details about Zombi
I don't know how they're going to know if I need the minimap or not. Also the fov raise probably won't be enough for people on PC and I doubt there'll be a slider. I don't know what's so hard about giving players control over the fov more. Hell, GTAV allows you to do this even on consoles (though the max is still pretty bad and the view model for the gun is still way too big and close to the screen).
