@sabinis:
The thing with Strawhats fights since Timeskip is that Oda is going for the story and secondary thing is fighting so story progress holds him back when it comes to showing off Strawhats abilities.
Strawhats are pretty damn strong now and as we see Yonko crew or some very strong fighters that are stronger than Doflamingo crew might be first real, big challenge for them making them fight with all they have.
One pretty cool example of how Oda builds up characters when it comes to "what they could have done in different circumstances" is how he shown Bellamy approaching Luffy from behind when Bellamy was thinking about assasination of Luffy.
As we seen lately Bellamy was capable of landing some hits on Luffy- by suprise and without it as well. Chances are that if he would be determined to kill Luffy back in Colosseum he could have done that when he had chance of attacking him with lets say knife by suprise and piercing Luffys heart.
Even kid Law was capable of almost killing Corazon by sneak attacking him, Robig being efficient assasin speaks mostly about her devil fruit being perfect for such job, not that she is great fighter.
Being assasin and being a fighter are two completely different things in One Piece.
As for talk about sexism and unequal treatment of Women when it comes to fighting- I am not interested in it at all, Oda gives different role to different people in his manga. Its very boring subject for me to talk about how it is affected by gender.
Nami being navigator with some extra skills useful skills and not being a great fighter is example of giving roles simply by what character can do with resources he/she has. Making everybody fighters or fleshing out their abilities fully too early would kill the thrill.
Can you imagine how long would it take if everybody would get kind of same amount of fighting when beside fighting there is other stuff that needs to be done?
I would agree with you if this was a a moe normal like say 20-60 episodes anime/manga but this is One Piece. It's insanely long. You don't need to give everyone a fight in a single arc but you can at least rotate them every once in a while and give others the spotlight as well. And here it Oda's preferences and double standards become very very obvious. And again I could accept this if this was some new manga/anime with a fres faced author who is just starting and is still young and needs to shake off the prejudices he has been raised with but Oda has been in this for more then a decade. And he not only hasn't matured as an artist and as a human but actually very much goes out of his way to reinforce his sexist sterotypes at any cost in his work. Hence why complaints even if they are boring to you:)
@Jazo:
In some areas, women are just inferior. It has always been like that and always will. Additionally, the target audience is largely composed of male readers, which is why it would be dumb, from a financial standpoint, to focus on women too much. As for them not being developed enough.. You had two entire arcs dedicated to their characters, so how is that not enough? And both Robin and Nami have gotten more development in their abilities than say Sanji and Zoro, who are basically just stronger than before and have learned Haki.
And as for biology meaning nothing.. That is just you not knowing how many things biology can be applied to. Sure it means less, but nothing is a vast overstatement.
And Rebecca was one of the most useless character in this arc.. Her screen time could've been used to flesh out other characters more. I do agree that it would be nice for Robin to have an actual fight post time-skip, but that'll probably come. She and Nami have had plenty of screen time before.
Nope. They are not. This is a fictional universe in which anybody can be strong and it makes no difference what type of body they started out with. The only reason women are treated this way is because Oda wants them to be treated this way
As for your financial point I could have agreed to this not respected it cause it's still a dick move but agreed to it if Oda actually worked like an efficient businessman. Instead rather then hire a good large team that would work on on developing the manga with him and increasing vastly the efficently he does nearly everything himself as someone as minor as him being sick can impact the whole business. Not to mention we constantly get breaks. So no. Again this has nothing to do with business and everything to do with Oda's shitty attitude towards women. His special brand of wanna be gentlemen sexism
