I think Luffy remember when Law tell him to fight Dd with a cool head otherwise it would be advance for dd. Unless it something new like weakness of dd.
Chapter 780: "The Heart's Curse"
-
-
There was a a lightning attack in numerous occasions. For example, when Luffy knocked out a Pacifista on Shabondy. Sentomaru commented he was using Haki. And nobody was fainting. Also, his fist wasn't black.
Diamante's words can be interpreted in many ways.
A) Two Conqueror Haki users are clashing.
B) Two Conqueror Haki users are clashing with their Conqueror aura active. (<-)
C) Two Conqueror Haki users are imbuing their attacks with Conqueror Haki.Note that there's no specific evidence in support of C).
Personally i understood that as 2 people using CoC in their attacks VS each other, hence the word "clash". There doesn't seem to be a hidden meaning in the sentence, though that could be because of the translation. I thought it was pretty straight forward.
Using CoC doesn't need to make people faint: do you see anyone fainting here? And, to be fair, Luffy's punch isn't visible on the example you mentioned. If Sentoumaru hadn't said "Haki reinforcement", how would you know haki was being used? Answer: you wouldn't. You, just like everyone of us, would have jumped to the conclusion that Luffy's power had increased without using haki.
The lightning in that punch suggests it's imbued with CoC but that MAY BE an earlier version of the blackish representation of CoA haki, for all we know. As in: he tried that representation but after tried blackening instead and opted for that for CoA representation? Maybe!
Maybe someone can ask him in a SBS if in that instance was CoA or CoC being used: that should clear any doubts on the matter!
-
What if Luffy is seriously wounded and Manshelly can only heal one?
That wont happen death is something that rarely happens in one piece.
-
It is pretty annoying actually, even after the time skip the readers can't really explain the difference between one and another haki.
Well, the way things are going Manshelly won't be able to heal everyone. I remember when Kyros was telling her to spare her powers because there must be a limit for them and depending how seriously injured someone can be she might won't be much of a help after all. I prefer it like that, honestly.
I hope that Oda will do things differently in the Shin Sekai, facing Doflamingo wasn't Law's plan and since everything he did was for Corazón then he would die with honor. Would.
The cage is shrinking, now is the time for one of those great combos to prove that that thing isn't invincible, where are you now Burgess?
-
I think Trebol is Doffy's Sancho and from the very beginning there seems to be subtle hints for his importance.
I wasn't sure if you had any other info you were trying to convey with the wiki page, however I skimmed it a bit. I want to say that Trebol is Mingo's weakness, if you injure him you injure Mingo.
-
I expected nothing and somehow I'm still let down
Hey, on the bright side the sea creatures found a new home. Got to be happy about that.
-
Yeah, when he's using Fishman Karate, like so;
[hide]
[qimg]http://manga-joy.com/wp-content/manga/5404/541/p_00011.jpg[/qimg]
[/hide]However, the punch he hit Caribou with bears no real resemblance to Fishman Karate as we've seen it.
It's almost certainly just a haymaker with uncolored CoA behind it.
Again, not necessarily: Fishman karate attacks require more then one panel to be shown, no? Doesn't the hit Jimbe's attack gave those fodder only manifests itself in the following page?
In the cover you shown, we only see the result of the hit (his face having been hit and he being thrown back): without visual (or written) haki representation, we are left guessing what really hit Caribou. Did Oda forget the "blackish effect" or is that jut the end of a fishmen karate's strike?

Everyone is saying that what Law said at the end was a FlashBlack/Whistles…
Ladies and Gentlemen, I call it first.
Law operated himself like Blackbeard using the ope ope no mi powers. He has now two devil fruits! Including Rosinante's Nagi Nagi no mi fruit!
He can communicate with Luffy that way.:ninja: lol! well, I tried!Very dope chapter.. but its short! can't wait for next week
-
For a year I completely forgot about Ceasar. I wonder if Luffy will receive any help, seems impossible to defeat the two.
So Oda hasn't updated the situation with Sabo and Koala, then we haven't seen Jesus since Sabo got the Mera Mera. The birdcage is shrinking so it won't be long now.
What did you think of the chapter? What are these 'slip-ups' everyone is discussing?
-
I just noticed Law's middle finger has a letter A on it. You don't suppose he might have done something to his body in that last moment? Anyway, we'll see.
Oh, btw, Mangastream is out.
Thanks for the image of Dofla licking people's assholes.
(Then again, for immortality…) -
So what about Corazon? Or Fisher Tiger?
It won't be easy to justify that. The OP-verse is quite inconsistent on this matter. But if I were to think off a reason why,
Fisher was still conscious after being shot with several rifles long enough to refuse treatment. Law is unconscious, despite the fact he should be dead 10 times over. Corazon I have no idea, maybe Doffy shot him in the heart, unlike Law where he seems content with conveniently not hitting vital organs. -
I'm confused. Wouldn't Sabo, Zoro and especially a certain Admiral cut the Birdcage before it kills all the civilians? His priority has been to save everyone.
-
Why isnt any Strawhat moving to help Luffy? Zoro should be already running towards him cause he is the only one who is not damaged at all. They all know the current situation with law ,doflamnigo and that its currently a 1vs2 but still no one wants to help? I dont like these "lets just watch" moments in one piece :/

They should at least try now that it's shrinking.
That or they should all hide in SMILE factory. The roof got blown away, but the walls are still made of seastone.
-
Next chapter, Luffy will transform. :ninja:
! Super Saiyan
-
@Mr.:
Yeah, I always just assume the major pirates/marines have a "toughness" that make them hard to kill, even with bullets
The marine and the Pirates could also buy their ammounition from the same store as Dante from Devil May Cry, where everything is made from peas and bits of toilet paper.
But yeah, natural toughness seems likely. Everybody in One Piece takes lifethreatening injuries daily and shrug it off the next day.

Seriously, guys, I don't think that armament haki is devided by 2 (colored and colorless). Cause it doesn't make any goddamn sense. I think it's just a simple mistake, maybe from Oda's assistants.

If it was it would have been corrected in the volume, which it wasn't.
-
Prediction about birdcage:
It started to shrink and zoro noticed. He uses a new move to cut the birdcage before it cuts everyone.
All people on dressrosa are like "OMG zoro is badass and awesome 0_0" .
A random person runs and screams " Someone near the island split a yonkou's ship in half ! hurry come and see it"
Everyone rushes there to see that person.
Zoro is jelous and mad that someone takes away his spotlight and runs to see who that is.
Zoro makes the "enel surprised face" when he gets there, it's Blackleg!:ninja:

I'm not sure about that. There are more instances where armament haki has been used without blackening the user's arm, e.g when Luffy grabbed Caesar in PH. I didn't subscribe to that line of thought myself in the past, but I've come to accept the possibility that Oda may have intended to color a haki user's arm to depict a special usage of armament haki, i.e hardening.

- In before Usopp shoots Wicca up to Law's location. *
-
Do we know that that's how all Devil Fruit's are reincarnated though?
We saw it happen with the axolotl fruit, but that could be specific to zoan class fruits.
There's also the issue of who would eat the fruit, master it to the point of even being able to perform the immortality operation and then give up their life to do so for Doffy.
I was sorta half joking with that. Like you say, it may not be that straightforward.
But considering that DD was able to obtain the mera mera no mi. It shouldn't be too hard for him to get the op op no mi.
The probability of obtaining the fruit again is much higher than waiting for Law to change his mind.
DD is a charismatic dude. His crew will literally sacrifice their life for him in an instant. He just need to find a doctor that is completely loyal to him. -

Issho make him bleed, Cabbage had only hurt himself by grabbing his own sword and it's the closest one to the palace.

Now i'm definitely sure that Law is gonna die.
-
Law strategie is simple**: Try to stick Trebol with Doflamingo and burn/explode them with Fire Hawk Attack.**
-
Bellamy must be proud.
-
Now i'm definitely sure that Law is gonna die.
Law's death needs to be meaningful like random mountain's bandit, the series couldn't go on without his death.
What will Law's death give to the series uuhh??

Look at the way Jinbei's arm is positioned on that cover page though, and Caribou's face as well.
Jinbei has obviously just hit him with a standard punch, rather than a fishman karate equivalent which always end with the users arm in an outstretched position, parallel to the ground.

Dat Gatling Hawk though

I thought so in the past, but now I changed my mind… both do the exact same thing, since even 'normal' haki makes things harder, but I think the black thing is too signal some kind of advance use of hardening.. even if maybe at the beginning it was used just to signal the usage of half.. we've seen too many instances of having attacks without the black color to think they are all errors
-
I want Luffy to go Super Saiyan on Trebol arse, Which in turn will make Doffy go Super Saiyan on luffy's arse. Two extremely pissed off guys, kicking seven bells out of each other, should make for some compelling viewing.
-
oda's doing a lot to tlaking about law supposed death. end of last chapter, then a flashback to 5 minutes before to show how it happened. Probably will be a big deal, mansherry or Law gives up power to luffy.
-
It's not like immortal would mean invicible or unkillable. Not being able to age is the significant feature of being immortal in most cases and most likely Doulas wish.
-
Also Doflamingo just seems to be insanely strong in the way he deals with the physical power of others. He's gotten a cut on the cheek and taken one solid punch to the gut, besides that he just blocks massive hits left and right like it's nothing. It's all very impressive but I can't wait for there to be a little more back and forth as far as each of them getting solid hits in. I suppose Zoro will have to take over, lol.
After the years of "Luffy defeated it so quickly" or "man, this was nerfed, this not such a great villain". Oda made a superb strong character to shut those mouths.
Quite a surprise the Hawk Gatling, i thought could not be done. Nice chapter.
-
So begins the fifty plus page debate on whether or not Law is dead.
Good chapter. See you next week.
-
With mangastreams translation it feels like at end of chapter Luffy is hearing with his 6th sense - voice of all things thing - that worked when Seakings told him to stop destroying Noah.
So goodbye from Law ? Or telling Luffy that he will manage so Luffy doesnt get into blind rage ?Or maybe its just remembering stuff that Law told him but it really doesnt feel like when I read mangastream version.
Can somebody clarify looking at raw of this chapter? -

I think longevity, immunity to diseases or poisons and fast regeneration would go in line with what Law's fruit is able to do. Something like drawing out the potential of human body to turn it into Wolverine or something.
I doubt it's only not aging thing. Dofla applied Ope ope immortality is instrumental in the achievement of his plan. Don't see how longevity alone would allow him to accomplish it.

Doesn't seem like his fists are burning. I think it would be a Red Hawk Gattling if it was fire punches.

You should not get sounding a bit arrogant at times. Check out panels yourself one more time.
Luffy does not look like he is using gear second anywhere outside of that gattling attack - and then it was still only used on both arms.
There is no steam anywhere beside arms. I mean old style gear second over whole body for biggest boost possible.Dude I sound arrogant? So be it. Ever thought that there are different types of people, who talk in different way?
Anyways I don't know how you guys can tell if Luffy is using gear 2 or not except when he says it or steam is around him but Oda can't keep drawing steam around Luffy every panel.

Yeah, the thing that I personally like about this fight is that though up until this point it's mainly consisted of small back and forths it doesn't really feel like Luffy or Doffy is outright overpowering the other. Sure Doffy may be blocking some of Luffy's bigger hits and slapping him around a little, but every time Luffy's gotten back up without much damage; and even then a lot of the fight this chapter had Doffy and Luffy dogging each others attacks.
So rather than "Oh Luffy's so weak." or "What was the purpose of the 2 year training?" I'm personally seeing this match-up fun, and understandable considering both of their abilities.
-
That comment Dofla made about Luffy not being all that makes me feel like he'll reveil another gear next chapter, Conqueror blast or something that will make Dofla reconsider.

I was thinking of doing a little thing on a thought I had about Law, Doflamingo, and Heart with how there seems to be a revolving theme around it. I decided for now not to do it, because it was sounding silly when I thought about it out loud, so for now I won't talk about it. Instead, time for crazy theory time, with my theory about how Luffy will defeat Doflamingo.
While thinking about the chapter, I remember a comment Law made when Luffy was talking to Doflamingo. Now the translation might've been off, but the idea was that you didn't want to get into his "pace", or rhythm. Nothing since then has come up from it, but perhaps that is what the flashback next chapter will entail. When I think about how the attacks against Doflamingo have gone so far, Doflamingo seems to be in the zone, keeping his own pace. The two times he's been attacked was when Law changed Luffy's position, and when Doflamingo wasn't thinking and got in Law's zone. The rest of the time, he's been dodging and not been harmed.
One thing to consider this chapter was how Law decided to talk to Doflamingo. Part of it could be said it's just him smack talking Doflamingo before he died, but it seems there could be a bigger reason for it. From everything that was said, when Doflamingo said he'd do anything for Law in exchange for immortality, Law said two things. Neither could happen, so why say both? From everything we've learned, we know Doflamingo has an Almighty complex. He despises people looking down on him, and even more if the person is seen as inferior. So when Law told him to go "lick every citizens shoe", that hit a nerve in Doflamingo, which we saw. I think Law not only wanted to go out giving him the middle finger, but wanted to throw Doflamingo offbalance.
Next chapter, I see Law telling Luffy that he needs Doflamingo to get angry, to not be in control of his emotions. By hitting that nerve, Law planted the seed for Doflamingo to lose control of his emotions. With Luffy being mad in the final panel, with a flashback specifically telling him to hold on, it seems like Luffy will need to regain control of his emotions. By Luffy being in control, and Doflamingo being out of control, Luffy has the chance to win.

I wonder if Viola expressed (off-screen) Law's situation to Leo via the Den Den Mushi he has on him and Robin and Co. are now escorting Princess Mansherry to the top of the Palace in order for her to work her magic on Law and save his life.
Incoming Robin vs Trebol and Luffy vs Doflamingo.
O.o.

Law isn't going to die. This is One Piece.
In the case he really is, I'm going to be pretty damn shocked. I really liked Doflamingo's competence this chapter. He was giving Luffy trouble. On the character side, seems like Dofla might actually be haunted by the fact that he killed Corazon. Maybe he really does care for his crew, but just tries his hardest to deny the fact that he might be partially like his father. That would be really interesting to me, so I really liked this chapter.
-

A bit, yea. Maybe it was only how you put some thoughts together.
As for Luffy and gear second thing - he is using it so rarely that Oda cares to put steam here and there or do some small corrections at times in volume relases when it comes to CoA hardening being forgotten or stuff like that. I guess that every time when Luffy says "gear second" or we see steam its gear second - partial or on whole body depending on steam or what Luffy says.
In this chapter he gotten steam around his arms, no steam from mouth or entire body, lets see how fight goes and it could help us measure with more confidence when Luffy uses gear second and where its most likely just his soru. -
@Galaxy:
Here's ishuhui's version of the chapter (a better clean than Mangapanda, until Stream comes out at least).
Man, I love reading these hq scans. I can catch so many new details. For example: Luffy's reflection in Dof's glasses on page 12

I think he was really angry as Law denied his "love" while Law decided to love Corazon for what he did for him. Its in contrast what Doffy said about educating Law on dying for him but people are like that, often quite bit contradicting.
Doflamingo till Punk Hazard really believed that Law might get back to him and take Heart Seat next to him. At same time he didnt knew and most likely he still doesnt know that Law was in chest next to Corazon when Doflamingo killed his brother. This means he by big part doesnt understand why Law loves Corazon so much and is so much against him. If he knew Law was there then Im sure that it would be far easier for Doflamingo to kill Law earlier on during Dressrosa.
So in general - Doflamingo is a jelly - he was like that when Crocodile saved Ace. His comment about him being jealous over Croco choosing Whitebeard. He is not dealing well when people say no to joining him when he wants it. Interesting that Oda made it part of his character as early as during Marineford and now its getting back to that part of Doflamingos character.
-
Can we really tell based in one panel though…
I'd say so, yeah.
We've seen the standard form of punching attacks in Fishman Karate, from a variety of users on a number of occasions.
They always end (like I said before) with the user in a traditional karate stance, with the punching arm left straight out in front of them.
Here we have a snapshot of Jinbei having just punched Caribou, with the position of his arm not being at all indicative of Fishman Karate.
This logically brings me to the conclusion that Jinbei punched him with the aid of uncolored CoA.

It's the line "Your curse dies with you!" why I interperted it the way I did at first, but yeah, most likely is the jealousy thing.
