Really? I actually liked it quite much.
It was a nice evolution from his Shikai that didn´t:
1- Became something completely different from it
2- Became the exactly same thing, but bigger/stronger (like Byakuya or Hitsugaya)

My only complaint was that poison bullshit, but I guess Kubo needed some device to put Aizen in danger for 4 pages.

The potent poison thing was only there to fill the 'snake' motif Gin had. His zanpakto was all about stabbing speed, like fast snake bite after all. It fits, but the exposition sounded like shitty excuse to hype Aizen/Hougyoku even more.

It was 2008 and we were all making boner jokes from what I recall. It wasn't the worst bankai, but it was pretty funny at the time.

Bleachs theory of Evolution dating from prehistoric times:

everythings fine, just plants and animals and shit
HUMANS! (and their souls)
some humans die, go to soul society (already in place?)
they figure out that all their death and rebirth creates some kind of problem(chaos? what kind of chaos?)
they create their own God(!) in a way that will bring balance to the force but should he die everybody´s fucked

so what was happening before they created him? only humans have souls in this series right? so was there a time in the stone ages where the universe was about to crumble because of the "soul-traffic"? maybe there where always souls in soul society and when humans evolved the souls were like "hey, lets try this getting born into existence thing" which would mean "the real world" is just a joyride for souls getting bored in soul society. but then why create a control system which, when shut off, would obliterate existence? didnt aizen meet the soul king and then turn evil because of whatever he is? well why isnt anybody else turning evil? why cant orihime reverse time on the soul king? aizen was like "her powers are as unto a god" and now Juha is like "Lol puny Humanz". they wanted her to reverse time on the most powerful thing in existence, right? so why cant she…aww fuck it

I knew Aizen would show up eventually. I was certain he was the mystery character who killed that Quincy who had Ichigo trapped and not Grimmjow. Though it's as though Kubo has forgotten that moment completely.

You know, on the one hand, Aizenanigans were the only redeeming factor of the Winter War.

But then on the other hand, theres no guarantee that Aizens return will be anywhere near as interesting. Theres a real chance that he'll just be your run-of-the-mill villain-come-ally, and all Aizens entertainment value came from him mindfucking the heroes. So unless he'll claim the FINAL final villain position through shenanigans and trickery, then he'll just be another smug asshole added to the frontlines.

Ukitake's story was…..well, certainly hammered in there, but it's sorta cool I suppose. Although between this and Komamura's wolf god ancestor, throwing in other random deities to Soul Society and Soul King just complicates matters.

Next week Aizen, oh boy.

But that occurred in Hueco Mundo, no? How did Aizen escape his prison and traverse to there? I believe Grimmjow was confirmed when Ichigo communicated to Urahara, Orihime, and Chad before entering the Royal Realm with Rukia and Renji (to train).

Orihime and Chad pushed the mystery man away from Ichigo's sight, who spoke gruffly and said something like "he's there, let me at him!". Hell I think they or Urahara even used catnip to distract him.

It's really awful how this "Everything will cease to exist because of reasons!!" Is taking it's sweet time to happen. People can say their asspulled backstories, people can go and search for allies, they can play Dragon Quest on their console, or just stare at the Useless King the whole time while everything falls apart for some unexplained reason.
