I feel like this thread needs some… life.
!
So… is Giorno underrated or underhated?
I feel like he had a lot of initial potential, but lost his spotlight once he entered Passione.
His initial interactions with Koichi and other characters were great, but he just staled after we got introduced to Bruno and the others.
Not only did he not evolved, it actually felt like he regressed a bit. His early interactions had some some nice quirks and one liners. His reactions when he faced the unexpected were surprisingly calm, but for some reason this didn´t worked quite well when it was made After-Bruno. He felt more like a secondary character than the protagonist, and this begs the question: Was it supposed to be that way? Was the spotlight really meant to be taken away from him in order to make him more of an "under the radar" character, maybe because of his role as a newcomer in the group, or because of his final goal?I want you to to think about this subject while analyzing the following Holy Book passages:
!
-
Yeah I think the problem is kinda that he IS the son of Dio, and a lot of times, sequels end up being just rehashes of what's perceived to be the most popular parts of the originals. Giorno is all the aloof and posing and overwhelmingly powerful with none of the built up charisma and dickishness of Dio
-
The problem is that Giorno really isn't the main character of Part 5 until the end when it falls to him to remove Diavolo's terribleness from the manga.
-
According to Shizuka Joestar (Jojo Project scanlations), Giorno's character is supposed to be a fusion of Dio's personality and Jonathan's personality. Basically a fanfic character(?)
-
I think he is meant to have the cunning, trickery and ambition of dio but the personality, charisma and honour of Jonathan
-
Kind of sucks to say, but most of time I actually forget he is supposed to be the son of his Holy Dickness.
Dio is a pretty one dimensional character when you think about it (except when he talks about philosophy in a bed with a black priest), and most of the things that make Dio, Dio… well... are not very heroic or honourable. Removing his bad elements from the equation and having a character that is supposed to have some of his personality, while remaining a likeable hero is a pretty hard exercise.
Maybe that´s why Gio ended up turning so bland. -

Maybe that´s why Gio ended up turning so bland.Maybe anime will flesh out more of his character- like make it more visible so to say. Araki is pretty good at giving characters some specific designs and "feel" to them and Gio turned out bit bland as you wrote. Maybe if Araki would keep an eye on how anime team gives some life to Gio we could be suprised with effect.
-
Giorno is as bland as eating styrofoam. That's all.
-
I can't see Giorno as a Joestar.
That is my only issue. -

At first he was really promising and interesting just like Part V. But after the whole group was together, both went downhill - and while Part V managed to not suck completely after that, Giorno didn't. He just comes out as bland.
Unlike people, though, I can't see Giorno as Dio's son. As much as I look at it, I can only see him as Jonathan's son (it was his sperm afterall) so in my eyes he is a Joestar just like any other Jojo.

Let's not get into bizarre vampire genetics here
-
Accepting Giorno as a Joestar means accepting… Hell, not even internet likes them, the 3 diospawns, they are uglier than the green baby and lamer than Giorno, so there's no fanart of them, So I'll put Joseph in drag and call it a night
!

@Purple:

Giorno got all the dominant Dio genes while his half-brothers all got the recessive genes.
Then there's the Dio spawn that no one really remembers despite being the president.

Are you claiming that you are Dio's Son? [look under your name]

This comment shows that JoJo pushes us into Bizarre discussions lol

New episode in less than 5 minutes! Opening looks pretty awesome.
http://www.crunchyroll.com/jojos-bizarre-adventure -
I didn't care much for the new opening, I hope it'll grow on me.
-
The new opening is great, and I like how it features every person who's sung an opening thus far.
Also the anime continues to put more pieces together
! like that group picture that Jotaro has at the beginning of Part 5
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Welllll Kakyoin had a nice run this season
-
Bloody Stream is still the best OP.
-
-
@Purple:
What was that all about?
-
What was that all about?
Seems they decided to go the jazz route instead of rock this time around for the ending.
-
the new opening sucked imo its sounds like fandub
-
that was certainly an odd ending theme choice
-
Great episode, stopped where I was expecting it to.
I also really liked the opening, specially the little references, like…! Joseph using the good old Joestar secret technique
Siler Chariot dual-wielding
the silouettes of all the egyptian gods
them being freezed in the stairs, and only Jotaro being able to move (as if all the gears weren't enough. All this Dio's power foreshadowing is great)
the results of Vanilla Ice's fight when they are looking at Cairo's skyline
Polnareff and Iggy climbing the stairs with Abdul extending his arm behind them as if to warn them
Kakyoin on top of a building, shortly before activating his final trap
That line point at Josephs throat
and all those other ones directed at Jotaro while he is midjump
Dio suddenly appearing behind Jotaro, as if he had teleported
and the title turning into dust as the sun shines upon it right at the endAnd it's great they showed that photograph being taken. I actually thought it was filler and didn't realise it shows up at the beginning of part 5.
-
They blew it with the ending choice.
-
Well, I would have preferred something more rock oriented (Holy Diver obvs being the #1 choice), but I can definitely see why they decided to go with "Last Train Home" as the ending theme this time around.
-
I loved the opening, but still think Bloody Stream and Stand Proud are better. Going to miss Walk Like An Egyptian, but Last Train Home is nice and somber. I have a feeling it will make me sad in later episodes, even though I know what happens.

Holy Diver would have been a great choice!

Holy Diver would have been a great choice!
Literally the only way to end the intro episode for Dio (Skip to 9:30ish)
-
People, people.. what is with this strong focus on Holy Diver? Is it because of the Abridged Series? Because dio has many other great and fitting songs from his career that fit far better. Egypt (The Chains Are On) and Heaven & Hell from his Sabbath times would be strong contenders for me.
The actual ending did suprise me a bit, though - not because it is bad, but because it came out of the left field. Araki apaprently approved this song choice according to the official twitter so I think it will work out alright. As for the opening… the weakest one so far. I vastly prefer Sono Chi no Sadame and Stand Proud.

Yup. Appropriate.
Is it because of the Abridged Series?
Also yes.
-
Damn, the second half of the episode was amazing.
Not sure how i feel about the ending, but I´m not a big fan of the opening.
-
Full version of opening song should be amazing. It grown on me but if I would have to compare it to color as as I sometimes do(I know its bit weird) for such colorful series song has "dark brown" feel to it :ninja: and I am not drunk, just having bizzare thoughts.
I enjoy this arc more than I enjoyed reading this part of JoJo as manga till now, I have high hopes for last, best part and it looks like It wont be a let down.

Oh hey, someone else thinks that songs have colours too. I haven't thought about that for a while.

High five! Very nice
I really like that new opening is harder to fall for as it takes quite a few replays to appreciate how good it is.
I cannot imagine how good as an anime some of future parts of JoJo will be if Egypt will live up to expectations. -

I cannot imagine how good as an anime some of future parts of JoJo will be if Egypt will live up to expectations. That's pretty much how I felt about this opening. I see what you mean about seeing the song in colors, it makes sense. Also, when I finished reading part 3 and went into part 4, I just wondered how it could possibly be better. I'm honestly finding it hard to get into part 4, but maybe that's because it feels so different from the previous 3 parts which I absolutely adored. Maybe once I read it a bit further I'll feel differently about it. I still hope they do eventually green light part 4. As it stands, they have another year to make up their minds.
-
Part 4 spends a lot of time in the beginning looking for its plot. Once it finds Kira, though, things get great. Part 4 in general, though, is where the powers start getting really interesting and it has a host of great characters and moments.

Nice to hear that it makes sense - I was bit afraid I will be taken as weirdo
If you are interested in my opinion in next parts then its in spoiler - no spoilers just didnt wanted my post to be too space consuming.
! As for part 4 I enjoyed it - it still felt like JoJo series even as bit different than previous parts. Animated version should BLOW US away :ninja:
! Part 5 was bit of a let down when it comes to memorable quotes, lack of high quality really bizarre situations and story itself but it had most flashy fights of all parts. Like Araki spend few months in Rome watching over and over all of Michael Bay movies.
! Part 6 was incredible at few longer moments same as it was really bad at very few but also long moments. I have part 6 very high in my ranking but I would cut out around 30 chapters along the way here and there and it would be perfection. Reading it I felt like those are best moments so far while still being most JoJoish. If you dont know there is really interesting change of main character.
! Part 7.. well part 7 is different story than all previous ones- its more of a adventure on road than anything else. It has great characters, slower pace than previous parts, okay fights(beside 3-4 nothing really outSTANDing). Also art is absolutely amazing starting at some point as JoJo went on as monthly manga.
Its closest that you can get to Araki being writer and artist. Maybe not most JoJoish part but surely one of best written, fresh and constantly enjoyable parts. Its getting better over time without any really bad moment at all for me, maybe few calmer but non was bad for me.
! Part 8 I have no opinion as I am waiting for it to finish to read it.So keep reading and see how Araki changed his art and perfected his style.
And I found something adorable if anybody didnt seen it yet

Oh, I can't wait to get to part 6, I fell in love with Jolyne's design and personality in general, especially being able to see her in action in ASB. I do like Josuke so far, I'm pretty sure I'll love it the more I read it. Also, speaking of ASB, I don't think they did Jojolion Josuke justice in my opinion, because frankly, I don't care for him. I understand that story is still going, but so far he is my least favorite.
OMG that is the cutest thing I've ever seen!!! I love that he called Jotaro "Ora ora" Too cute!
-
The opening looked cool visually, but I kept expecting it to reach a chorus for that big "come on" moment and it never came. The three voices is a cool idea on paper, but I don't think they mesh well. Them trading "ora oras" was weak, and just reminds me how lame saying the battle cries out loud can actually be unless you put 110% of your heart into it. Stand Proud grew on me after the second viewing, and I absolutely love the full version, but this one I've watched like a 5 times and it doesn't get any better.
Hopefully the full version saves it, but I think it's easily the weakest OP by far.
ED on the other hand is excellent, both visually and with the music choice. Yes, I was one of those goobers hoping for Holy Diver, but this works in another way, and it works very well.

ZA WARUDO!Seriously this opening is filled with references

Part 4 will grow on you I am sure, after first reading I wasnt as amazed with it as many people but when I gotten back to it - one of " most classic JoJo" parts."I just want to live normal life" cracked me up few times..

I know who Giorno's daddy is ;)
Speaking of which, not gonna lie, if and when I have a boy, I want to name him Joseph. -
Have you posted that before? Deja vu.

Lol, isn't Jojo way too violent for a 2 year old?
-

Lol, isn't Jojo way too violent for a 2 year old?
It sure is but I think that kid is too young for acknowledge that ist violence and I think kids a fan of figures and colored pages than anything else..
Probably father shown figures/ pages and teached names not really shown content of manga -
