@uniaka:
So zoro's speech about ' I am badass and superior' was for nothing? He can't even solo Pica? No that he managed to do anything to Pica in half a year.
Maybe you've missed it, but Pica has been running away the entire time.

Well I dont get what you are talking about either as nothing that I wrote contradicts what you posted I think
Kyros and Diamante fight is close up CQC fight more than Pica vs Zoro hit n run thing.
i was addressing this
I would guess that Kyros with both legs should be considered stronger than Zoro - why ? - because even while being one legged he manages to do just fine against Diamante who I guess is more skilled fighter than Pica
the fight is yet to begin in order to judge kyros's performance in comparison to zoro's
plus we don't know who's more skilled between pica and diamante
Maybe you've missed it, but Pica has been running away the entire time.
So far it looks like the major power of pica is his DF. As long as your DF can make you hide your real body so enemy can't hurt you, can you blame him?
It's like the logias. Why not use your DF intangibility if it stops the enemy from touching you and hurt you?

That's true, but you have to keep in mind that Pica would have been one-shotted already if not for that.

Didn't Pica fight Zoro using a sword for some time and didn't get one-shotted ?

Oda put emphasis on fighter group being higly effective - we can see that looking at lowest member of fighters group being Dellinger.
For example Sai and Ideo were shown to be fighting equaly with each other on arena and we seen how Ideo was clearly outmatched against Dellinger while Sai was unscathed during his fight with Baby 5(they also seemed to be just about even when they fought). Baby 5 is from Commando group - also lowest member like Dellinger - so it points to fighter group being strongest. Thats why I guessed that Diamante is one more skilled than Pica when it comes to swordfights and general fighting as Pica depends heavily on his Devil Fruit.
Didn't Pica fight Zoro using a sword for some time and didn't get one-shotted ?
!
Before he gets hit, he merges with the stone and dodges the attack completely.
Loved it
Oda doesn't kill characters lol
I slowly can't stand it.
Oda has to kill off characters in order to maintain the threat of the New World.

You can do that without mindlessly killing off characters.
You can do that without mindlessly killing off characters.
You never should kill off characters mindlessly.
You should do it with premeditation.
I will believe that the New World is threatning if Law's injury will stick or at least hamper him in any way.
I obviously know that lol. I mean that Dellinger isn't knocked out yet.
I can see Dellinger get up and try to sneak attack Cavendish and or Bart.
Join Sabins on the quest of the 'back from the dead' characters. lol
If you mean a fight between Luffy and Kaidou, Luffy will probably engage him in a 1 vs. 1.
Kaidou will have a bigger crew, but Luffy will have better fighters at his disposal.
What? You actually think Luffy will fight Kaidou in a one on one? What is more likely is Kaidou will be an Oarz-esque fight. Of course, Luffy might get to be nightmare Luffy again with the help of Moriah, and lead to his downfall, but I can't see the first Yonkou of the new world being taken down by Luffy individually. Maybe Big Mom will be a one on one, but certainly not Kaidou.
If they would fight on for example sand/ ice/ material different then stone Pica would be very likely already out after not very long fight.
Oda picked most stalling enemy for Zoro in this arc so we cant measure how strong exactly Zoro is compared to Doflamingo for example.
I would guess that Kyros with both legs should be considered stronger than Zoro - why ? - because even while being one legged he manages to do just fine against Diamante who I guess is more skilled fighter than Pica(Pica same as Gladius is basing his fighting style on his devils fruit power). Diamante vs Zoro would be more interesting and even when it comes to swordfighting I guess. Also it would be similar in how long it is given better skills with sword from Diamante than what Pica shown(Diamante is swordsman of the crew it seems).
Limbs in one piece, Law can stay with a missing arm and he won't be nerfed.

I second this .

You can do that without mindlessly killing off characters.
Is different now, New World pirates are the strongest foes out there, their wills are Conqueror's wills and Oda is gonna have to come up with something in order to justify X pirate not coming after the Strawhats again.
This is going to be one hell of a mess.
You never should kill off characters mindlessly.

No I said it wrong.
I mean if a person gets a wound that bad that it'd be not possible to survive.
Popular example: Pell
But nonetheless. In the New World there are different standards.
You want to compete? Learn Haki.
You're not prepared to die? Leave.
Those standards have been raising since the early beginning where having a df was crazy b/c they were considered myths.
In the NW the likelyhood that somebody dies should be thus higher as well.
Death is not a good thing.
The reason we not seeing people die is because the weaklings are already being killed off-screen.
Limbs in one piece, Law can stay with a missing arm and he won't be nerfed.
Law has one of most overpowered fruits in One Piece. Also we dont yet know if he needs hand gestures for some parts of his ability to work.
Kyros on other hand(leg) is swordsman- if loosing limb wouldnt nerf person than Mihawk would not loose interest in fighting Shanks(who probably to compensate for lost limb eaten devil fruit).

Wait till Kaido and/ or his crew will kill Doflamingo Pirates.

Death that prevents any interesting plot progression is bad. Too much death can also be bad, removes too many possibilities. But as with everything, depending on the series, it can have its place. Just like it has its place in One Piece: death always has a major point if it is going to happen to a prominent character.

The point of my post was not to make a comparison between characters, but show you that Oda won't nerf a character just because they lost a limb and Shanks is the best example of this rule.
I will believe that the New World is threatning if Law's injury will stick or at least hamper him in any way.
…But Law's Devil Fruit is like an actual, viable reason as to why this won't happen. Why have this as your defining measure of the New World's worth when Oda has used far, FAR more stupid reasons to keep characters permanent injury free when it makes absolutely no sense (Pell, Pell, Pell, Pell, etc).
There's a lot of feeling in this thread that Oda NEEDS to kill of characters if we want to take him seriously but it's really not gonna happen. At its core One Piece is a pretty goofy adventure story, it's not gonna become Berserk.
Well until shown breathing on screen Monet and Vergo are as dead as they can be. I might be wrong and they might appear in the future but so far they are pretty dead
the fuck is up with barto in the mangastream version?
was he always ending his sentences with -bay
like iiiin or dasuyan
lol at gladius: i got my hands full dealing with tweedledee and tweedledum

Law's never been shown to be able to attach something that hasn't been touched by his own power. Neither did he shown to be to able to resurect dead tissue, and let's be clear here, unless he does field surgery during his fight with Doffy, this arm is going to be beyond saving pretty soon.
Oda can make this injury pernament without creating a contradiction. Whatever he will or not is what I will judge him by.

Why people go from one extreme to the other?
It's not like killing people is forbidden or hasn't happened in Shonens before.

Unless the death progresses the plot in some way, it won't happen.

Like Bellamy situation, his death is necessary for the progression of the plot.

I agree with this statement, but I also acknowledge that Oda will have to kill some characters in the New World If he really want us to feel how dangerous the New World is.

No need for him to die.

Different characters.
Just restrain him.
How? any suggestions?

We are yet to see if he is a Devil Fruit user- if he eaten one after loosing limb then it means he needed to compensate lost limb with devil fruit to achieve his goal(whatever it was, same as Law needed status also Shanks needed theritory in New World). Maybe Shanks is having as his turf part of ocean where Rogers One Piece is. So he makes sure that proper person gets to final Island. That might be good reason for him and Blackbeard to fight later on in the series as Teach is after One Piece.
So can we assume that for one reason or another Dellinger tries to hide his Fishman heritage? The family could have conditioned him to be that way since his infant days if the hat is anything to go by. The hat gives the horns a bit if an artificial look, he keeps his fin under wraps and seemed to have had his teeth filed for some time. I'd say he or someone in the family tried to protect him from the outside world.
Unless the death progresses the plot in some way, it won't happen.
I don't mean massive slaughter.
I mean that the fights in the New World tend more to be live or die
In the end I know Oda won't do that so I better stop complaining before it becomes a habit. lol
Oda does kill people…...it just happens it's the grunts most of the time lol.

yea.
the tweedledee/tweedledum comment is pure mangastream though.
Mangastream loves doing that shit, making up jokes and throwing curse words when those things aren't actually in the chapter.

In someways I think Dofla enourages such seperation, like a cult leader. Dofla family's highest loyalty is to Dofla family.
Doesn't appear that Derringer goes out of his way to hide his nature He just likes wearing a hat that stretches over his horns. It seems more that being only part-fishman his other attributes need to be conciously manifested or only do so when his blood is up, like going full shark-tooth in this chapter. His fin seems to show up the more excited he is.
I agree with this statement, but I also acknowledge that Oda will have to kill some characters in the New World If he really want us to feel how dangerous the New World is.
And that's why Shanks, his crew, and Mihawk are on the chopping block.
I'm curious what people think now that we are this far in the arc about Rebecca joining the crew. In the beginning I was hoping she would cause she ad a distinct look, tragic back story, and an interaction with Luffy that made him like her. I don't see a strong possibility of her joining now because she doesn't seem to have a dream to accomplish, but who knows. What do you guys think?

She was never a contender
She was never a contender
And thank Oda for that.
Less tgan excited for a member whose special talents appear to be 'Dodging until enemies get tired of chasing her. Crying.'
She was never a contender
I think she was a great contender. A new girl with Ace's logia, hell yeah! Then Sabo appeared…
So I stopped rooting for her more than a year ago. But still, I can't let you say that!
There was also the awesome foreshadowing theory: "a beautiful swordwoman with food!"
Luffy was never going to allow the Mera Mera no Mi go to someone he didn't trust or someone he just met. Rebecca never had a chance of having it.
And her reason for getting the fruit was silly as well.
I think she was a great contender. A new girl with Ace's logia, hell yeah! Then Sabo appeared…
My respect for you decreased 1%.

But she bought him food

That could certainly be one reason but I don't buy it just yet. The hat was there when he was a baby so it could just be that they liked the hat on him and he grew up liking it as well. The fin and teeth get me though. He kept his teeth filed down and like Arlong, he apparently can replaced them at a moments notice. The fin popping would be something really unique if it only appeared during times of excitement. The full, half and one fourth breeds we have seen haven't shown anything like that. Well not yet at least unless this was the first example. I'm pretty sure it's something he can control it at will just like the teeth but the fact that all 3 of these fishermen attributes were hidden leads me to believe Dellinger has is own unique history to be explored like anyone else.
Or it could all boil down to him really liking human women and just wanted to look as much like them as possible.
My respect for you decreased 1%.
Fufufufu! Now that I think about it, I joined AP during D block. So it really was my first crazy nakama theory as a One Piece fan. Aaaaah I wonder how many dumb predictions I've made since then. Oh wait! Could it be that I'm already under 0% ?!
