Yes, because if, say, someone on the level of Diamante decides to go out and murder some of the populace, then Maynard does not have what it takes to stop him.

Fujitora's perspective is not that of omniscient reader. He can't say for certain that every noteworthy officer of Doffy is caught in the fight. And even if he could, if even one of them wins a fight and decides to go out to kill few hundreds of Dressrosa citizens, he is not close enough to prevent it.

And even then, he does not give that as his reason for not doing anything. The reason he gives is "I won't allow Dressrosa to become a battlefield, because it was a symbol of peace". The problem with that being that the scene with Maynard and marines shows us that regardless of such declarations Dressrosa has already became a battlefield.

So yeah, unless Oda's intention was to portray him as senile old fool that let's people die because of stupid metaphysical reasons, I say Fujitora is acting out of character because Oda does not want him to help out Straw Hats and will stop him by any means necessary.

If i recall correctly, the last time we saw Fujitora was when he told Riku that he wouldn't let Dressrosa become a warzone as he walked away. I really don't know why people are assuming that he's doing nothing when we haven't gotten an update on him. Not that i'm saying that i know for sure that he's tackling parasited people left and right but, unless i'm missing something, we're not sure he's chilling under an umbrella either.

This chapter is really good, so rocinante finally let himself killed by Dofla to save up LAw, the tattoos, names all make sense, i still wonder how actually Law ended up joining dofla, or did he really escape? waiting is a killer…

I do find his reason for staying with the Riku strange. I'm just not certain as you that being in the battlefield is more logical than protecting the royal family. I mean that if he has a denden he can be contact as soon as there is problem while he is currently protecting the most important people in Dressrosa making sure they don't get hurt because he was too late. But yeah he is using the wrong reasoning in my opinion.

1. Every single "D" that has not died yet have extremely important roles in the future of One Piece. All the dead ones held importance in the past and legacy.

2. One of the main agreement in the Straw Hat x Heart alliance was that they're gonna dethrone Kaidou. What you pointed out simply shows Law's priority is Doflamingo related first. The story is obviously going to conclude with Doflamingo defeated, and Law freed from his shackles of duty, and despite Law's insistence that the alliance has ended, Luffy continues to do his usual forcing his own view on him: namely, I'MMA BEFRIEND YOU AND YOU GOT NO SAY IN THIS. And as we all know, Luffy gets his way. Law will continue to play a significant role in the future outcome, whether present on screen or not. Although I bet the spotlight will move onto the likes of Kid and others.

3. Doflamingo and the World Government and all the Tenryubito, sure. It's gonna come up again, it's obviously an foreshadowing Oda left. And yes, so will Ancient Weapons and other mysteries. One of Oda's staple plotting trait is to tie in these kind of things.

Lastly, the biggest difference between Law and Vivi, is that Law is a pirate captain, a Supernova, active in the New World. He's not going to stay in Dressrosa as some prince.
The "Pirate alliance" has been a very, very, VERY major theme running through out the New World arcs. It has been stressed many times on importance of alliance, we've seen Kid also form his own, seen the example led by Whitebeard, etc. Luffy's making of pirate allies all over is another indication.
And as a Supernova, whose significance as Luffy's peers have been clearly spotlighted in importance, Law, and other prominent SN, are crucial plot elements leading to the climax. That is not something even remotely comparable to Vivi as far as near-future prospects goes.

1. Fair enough . We'll just have to wait and see just what Oda does in terms of his role in the series.

Which i get but i don't get what part he will be playing in that arc considering that Kaidou will be related to Wano Kuni stuff and Law and his crew seem to have no reason for going to Wano yet or even be involved in Wano's conflict plus the fact that strawhats will be the ones responsible for destorying the factory not Law . Oda can totally give him a reason when they head towards Zou but as of right now i doubt that Law will be involved . And i do think that the Pirate Alliance saga will end with Doflamingo's downfall and Kaidou finding out about the factory being destoryed .
3. Pretty much what i am saying .

Also Oda revealing that Law's fruit can grant immortality at the cost of the user might be a foreshadowing for something down the road .

I really don't know how this final battle will go. Shonen law physics does dictate that Luffy will finish off Doflamingo even if Law does have more motivation for this fight.
Oda may be doing his older formula of Luffy handling the arc antagonist and a potential nakama/ally handling the next in charge who in this case is Trebol. Even if Law has apparently disabled Trebol with Radio Knife I genuinely feel Trebol and his abilities contain a good fight that needs fighting. (I don't even want to discuss the other executives as I adore all of them and want them all to have interesting combat scenes and do fear we will have off panel fights).

I'm feeling a bit more of a double fight with puppet Bellamy being used against Luffy forcing Law to fix the situation as this may put Luffy in a difficult situation. But however Law resolves this must require him out of battle against Doflamingo via injuries sustained or exerting his power too much.

I know this is overdue but Darth please don't stop discussing the chapter as you said a couple of weeks ago. Even though I recently joined, I am used to reading the discussions on this forum as they are vastly entertaining. Killing weak bystanders serves absolutely no purpose at this point, not when there are clearly identified threats around. The birdcage was never about killing the citizens, it was about containment, distraction, and hindering Doflamingo's enemies.

If one or more members came after any of the targets on the plateau, there's plenty of firepower up there to hold them off. Tank, Hack, Kin'emon, Kanjuro, Violet, Ussop, and the king himself are all decent fighters and could probably provide a decent match to whomever attacked. Luffy has been defeated countless time in the past, the same amount of times that he have encountered his enemies till the last battle, he has now attacked Dofla twice (Palace and the well) and we have never seen him get defeated three times in the row plus we're already covering the main flashback and his crew is already involved in their main fights.
