I early voted last week. In and out in 5 minutes.
As for less red in Texas, I wouldn't be too hopeful… I don't think we're quite ready to shift blue yet. Someday though, as long as we have enough water for all of the people that move here.

@Monkey:
More Mexicans come to the US please.
with the rate Californians are moving here i'm surprised it's not bluer
No, we won't be blue for a long long time. But we could shift to purple within the next 2 or 3 elections… at which point the Democrats would start putting some real effort and money into it.
Texas is worth a LOT of votes... and when it eventually DOES tip over (might be another 15-20 years) it and California will pretty much mean the end for the current Republican party.
Which, to be fair, may have corrected itself by then.
Sure, it never crossed my mind once that absolutely no country would help Nigeria. Why not ?
USA and Europe got themselves involved in a shitload of much more complicated conflicts in Africa the same year.
Countries have been offering their assistance but due to the Nigerian government's lackluster and inefficient response the situation has not moved within an inch of being resolved or handled. This is a domestic issue. There's only so much the international community can do without a strong local government behind it, short of some real illegal and risky endeavor.
Welp, time to give my mom more shit on her new state reelecting Rick Scott.

The Greek Cypriot guy lost?

Just crazy, I'll never be able to wrap my head around an actual criminal being elected governor of a state not once but twice with an agenda seemingly geared towards fucking it over.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Pleasantly surprised to see Coakley leading in my state, if only barely. The press around her hasn't been very positive, deservedly so in some ways, but I really can't stand Baker.
And Wendy Davis loses by about 500,000 votes. 60-40 split, as expected.
Sigh.
Texas is just too damn big for its own good.
Fucking nail biter here in CT, I'm not used to this @_@

Really terrible news. The outcome was sadly inevitable, but it still sucks ass. My condolences to you Texans.

What were you expecting from Florida common sense?
Yeah yeah, the Bugs Bunny gif and all that.
And the Democrats just lost the senate
Yes yes it is
And the Democrats just lost the senate
Republicans in control of both the House & Senate.
Welp. Back to Bush-era fuck ups we go.
Fuck, looks like Baker's going to win after all. At least I can console myself with the hope that Scott Brown will fade away into the ether now.
As an LGBT American…. I am now scared...
A party that, in many ways, ran on denying or revoking rights from me just won control of the country. As well as, sadly, the state I'm in. Our old Governor was a batshit crazy Republican, yet the guy who won makes her look tame...
Ahhh fuuuuuck, it looks like Walker's won in Wisconsin. Damn, I had hoped Burke would win since Walker's against education, woman's rights, and raising the minimum wage X__X
Seems Wisconsin is more republican than I realized… fuuuuuck
Ironically two counties that holds two of the biggest cities, Dane county (location of Madison, state cap) and Milwaukee county (city of same name) are mostly Democratic,
Sadly, it seems its not enough. I really do not want to go through another 4 years with Walker as gov!

Fear-mongering your way into Congress: A Republican's memoir

Wonder how badly they'll fuck it up for themselves come 2020.

(AP) November 5, 2014 - President Barack Obama was photographed banging his head against his desk today after his aids handed him the results of yesterday's elections…
America: where we bitch and gripe about how blatantly unhelpful and unproductive the current Congress is….and then proceed to re-elect them again anyway. (but this time with MORE control to be MORE unhelpful and unproductive!)

Well the problem is that in the past when polls are done, everyone abhors congress as a whole but was pretty satisfied with the performance of their own congressman.
In this case, it just happened that the swing was more towards the red for better or worse.
Boy o' Boy, I can't wait to feel the harmful and lasting ramifications from the slew of conservative, ass-backwards laws they'll no doubt be clamoring to pass!

It's just mind-bogglingly insane how people like Michael Grimm can literally be indicted on 20 COUNTS of Federal crimes, yet still win a government leadership office.
I know that the Democrats pretty much blew this election, but what the actual fuck.

If it makes you feel better, we elected this awesome lesbian Democrat as our Attorney General. She'll probably rise in the ranks later.
I mean with how blatantly transparent some of these politicians are, we may as well elect Whitey Bulger for Massachusetts Senate.
American democracy is a joke. America is a joke
My entire Twitter feed was just flooded with "Why vote? We end up being controlled by the same people anyway." And it's just…
I feel like hating everything. And I don't want to.
Negotiate your freedom with subhuman white devil overlords IMHO :)

I'd paraphrase MLK's speech from the the "return of the king" episode of the boondocks to sum up the rationale of this country regarding the 2010 and 2014 Midterm elections but I'm just not in the mood.
Somehow a fucking republican became Governor of maryland. I have never EVER EVER been so fucking angry and upset and holy shit please tell me we can survive these two years and obama can veto the more insane laws that the republicans pass…..........
YEAH MAN let's not vote!!!!!!!! Both parties are the fucking same rite???????????? if youre gonna vote vote libertarian cuz WEED!!!!!!!!!!
Fucking idiots. Fuck everyone who propagates that horseshit, because it leads to this exact fucking thing where there's no parity.
Jesus CHRIST I don't think there was a senate map this red since Nixon.

It's weird though the people who don't vote see all the problems with this country being the fault of the both parties
The people who do vote see any of the problems facing the country as being the fault of one party (who aren't to blame sometimes), then turn around and decide to vote for the other party who supports policies and practices that are usually responsible for the aforementioned problems. Which they then complain about in polls then repeat the same bullshit 4 years later on down the road vicious cycle be damned.

There are these things called elections. Maryland had a Republican governor as recently as 8 years ago.
Could you PLEASE make an effort to not be such a giant twat?
well at least it looks like ct will keep its democratic governor… http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2014/11/04/connecticut-governor-race-tight-as-polls-open/ (hopefully that's some comfort for MK)

True, and I don't think a republican governor will make too much of a difference when both houses of maryland's legislature are controlled by democrats.
Could you PLEASE make an effort to not be such a giant twat?
Do you really need to call people names to prove a point, garypotter?
No, I suppose that was rude of me. And hey, you're still young, you've got time to improve. Hell I was well into my 20s before I got my head out of my ass.
Anyway, the reason Larry Hogan won is because Anthony Brown was obnoxiously promoted as the next Obama without any regard to if he actually was worth a damn. Turns out, he was a dud.
i'm honestly more willing to pin it down to the maryland healthcare website rollout being a dud and technically under brown's radar as well as people being like "MARYLAND'S SAFE BLUE SO WE WON'T VOTE"
(also are you actually from maryland gp? if so i had no idea we were literally in the same state this whole time)

I'm from Maryland. Haven't lived there since I went off to college in 2005.

Anyway, these election results can be explained as simply the result of white voters abandoning the Democrats in very significant numbers. It's a trend I don't stopping, especially as long as the Ds keep up their "fuck white men take their guns go to hell you cis scum" agenda that they've been pushing for the past two years.
important video about american politics
Fuck this.
I'm moving to Canada.
Republicans do well in elections with low turnouts since their base has no problem rewarding incompetence and Democrats only bother in Presidential years. Same news as always.
Yeah I'm pretty much on the same line of agreement with Ubiq. Sucks for the Senate, but… nothing too new to panic about here.
I'm loving how Michelle Nunn got completely blown out of the water despite predictions of a runoff. Especially after those disgraceful Georgia Democratic Party fliers trying to use the Ferguson riots to gin up black voter turnout.
