Chapter feels kinda 'Meh' compared to the previous 2: upon reaching the last page, I felt like I'd barely read anything. Rocinante is a man with heart, a marine officer and a DF user: fine. But that's pretty much all there is to the chapter. Rubbing in Law's illness/rejection by ordinary people felt redundant, as his background had been clear enough on the matter (and much more efficient emotion-wise). Seeing Vergo in the Marines doesn't tell us anything we don't already know, and neither does the initial babble about D. Really feels like a waste of pages. :/

It was important to establish Law and Roci's bond.

2. Law being rejected by those doctors emphasised Law's relationship with Rocinante. This was no different from what we got with the Donquixote family.
3. Rocinante being a secret agent was a huge reveal. I don't see how you could write that off as "fine". It's a game changer.
4. We got Dofla at the end most likely about to tell Law and Roci about the Ope Ope no mi.
5. Vergo being the previous Corazon was also a big revelation.
6. We got an explanation as to why Corazon was a child abuser.

Well said. As someone who highly appreciates character interactions in my One Piece though, Law and Rocinante's moments were enough for me to rate this chapter highly.

I don't think Vergo has infiltrated the marines for some unique reason, he is just a spy for the DQ pirates providing them with all
kinds of secrets. I believe one of them will be about Rocinante and thus we will end up seeing him dead by the hands of Mingo.

The first thing that annoyed me about him was how he was talking about Doflamingo and the others.
I am aware I am biased because I ended up liking Doflamingo (and the family) so fucking much, but seeing someone from a group that see each member as a family "badmouthing" the others and trying to backstab them was not a good thing (it would be if Rosinante was portrayed as a bad guy, but that's not the case).
It also goes against him the fact that he should be the person to understand Doflamingo best. Even if he disagrees with Doffy and takes upon himself the responsibility of stopping him, calling him a monster, not human, saying that he can't understand how someone like that could come from his kind parents, etc etc, all while trying to use Doflamingo's confidence to betray him… fuck you, man.
Obviously, if Oda shows their past with Rosinante trying to stop Doflamingo is less shady ways and showing Doflamingo as someone really deserving to be hated by his brother up to that point, this can change, but as far as it is, Rosinante doesn't come out looking good in my book.

But what really made me want to puch this guy in the face is what he did to Law.
FFS, I understand him doing it wrong in the first hospital, since he wasn't expecting such a negative response, but keep repeating it over and over again? Every time forcing Law to see others treating him like a monster, forcing this kid to go through this?? He couldn't simply leave Law outside and go there by himself, tell the doctors he had someone with the amber lead disease and only if they were willing to treat the said person, bring Law inside?
There are many times in OP we see characters acting in stupid ways but we ignore it because what matters is the message that Oda is trying to convey (like Bellemére's decision), but this time it was a bit too much to me.

Strange as well… And the question remains if Corazon knows Vergo personally on his own or he just came back after Vergo already has gone undercover. If yes it somehow had to be at a time where Corazon also left the marines.

Considering that he himself said that only the executives know about Doula's true nature, he probably does understand him best.

He also shows remorse for making Law go through all this trauma, but I guess he simply had too much faith in humanity.

Since Cora knew what Dofla is really like, the opposite is possible as well. Dofla might have wondered why he was with him.

But I doubt Dofla sent Vergo to become a marine just because of Cora. Kept it a secret because of him, maybe.

Either way shouldn't cora have submitted a report about vergo, it's been more than 2 years since vergo's been on a mission. I mean the marines were keeping an eye on the family after all.

Flashback has been pretty amazing so far. I'm not sure I want to say best in arc, but only because I feel like it's easy to get overrate something good that happened recently as other good stuff becomes obscured by memory

I'm OK with building the relationship between Law and Rocinante, and learning that Roci is a marine does give flavour to the story (and credit to the marines, for once they seem to try and take their job seriously). That much was needed and enjoyable. The rest, however:
1. Was hardly a secret and has been clear enough ever since the Ohara flashback. What we have here is merely a reword of previous D allusions.
4. Could have happened in the middle of this very chapter, not as a mediocre cliffhanger
5. Was hardly a surprise, Vergo being the only known candidate (save for last-minute tomato-surprise characters, of which this arc has more than enough already).
6. Had been theorized already (his motivation at least) and didn't need to be spelled out so blatantly.

So yeah, I stand by the 'Meh.' The hospital rejection with the grotesque doctors felt especially clumsy and forced compared to how the same story had been handled in 762. Showing Roci's effort to save Law and how the later will be "saved" is important, but it could have been done differently. Like, show only the first hospital failure and then swith immediately to '6 months later'. There's storytelling value in omission, too.

Oda has been really spoiling us with these amazing chapters. The whole espionage thing is just too good, and so are Law and Cora's interactions.
As for Cora calling his brother a monster, I'm sure he has pretty good reasons for thinking that way, we don't know all the horrible things Doflamingo has done in his life (and then again, what we already know is quite monstrous already).
The Donquijote brothers remind me of Johann and Anna Liebert from Monster, in a sense.

Law is there for 2 1/2 years… Ever since there was no Vergo. Meaning Vergo even before coming a marine, cuz with this chapter he only was for one year, had been udnercover and doing something instead.

And this rises my question. Did Vergo and Corazon have met personally for once? If yes what rank Rocicante had before becoming "Corazon"... and why Senogku had no clue about Vergo... or why Rocincante haven't told Sengoku about the "real names" of the seats?

If no... There has to be a close timeline of Vergo going undercover and Rocicante coming back. With this DoFlamingo couldn't have sent Vergo cuz of Rocicante. Or am I getting something wrong

Yes, I had problem with that too. I felt sorry that Law had to be constantly shunned and feared by everyone.
My bigger issue is him burning down the hospital where hundreds of innocent patients are being treated and causing mass scale panic.
Though I don't hate him, this doesn't sit well with me.

Well, we sorta know he killed their father and brought his head to Mariejoie. So until we're told that there was actually some sort of redeeming noble motivation behind this murder (seems unlikely, though), I'd call that reason enough

not much of a report if he doesn't know where he is..also we don't really know what ronci orders are..sangoku seems strangely ok with him leaving dofla's side for "personal reasons"..adding the fact that he says that he is not a marine (even though we see the dossier with "commander" written on it),it probbaly means that he is just collaborating with the marines but it's not part of it anymore,and that the surveillance on the fmily is not the strict..in fact in the chapter sengoku says that they are becoming famous,so they were not an important threat yet

Again, you can't just show an attempt and then skip all the others, or else it makes the relationship feel lackluster.

Basically, there's storytelling value in repetition too. In this context, which is about the hope, hardships and rejections Corazon and Law faced along the way, the omission would cause loss of value.

Yup, could be Cipher Pol. I just get this feeling that he's a double agent. Especially the way he asked Law "Do you hate them?" before telling Law that he's not one of "them"….

And I think the reason for Homing "good intentions" are from his wife, who I believe isn't a CD by birth but rather by marriage. So she probably had a different perspective, having lived in the "human world".

Rocinante probably joined after Vergo, the 1st Corazon, left, allowing a vacant seat. This would've been the perfect opportunity for Roci to infiltrate.

So I don't believe they have ever met, but Roci probably studied enough about the crew to know Vergo existed.
